Rei the Kyuubi Forgive me if my analysis is misguided...
My opinion is that you merely hate such songs because of not only your preferences in genre, but simply because you deny conformity and repetition (not a bad thing, really), and thus hate a song that is played a ridiculous amount of times.
Fireflies is played way too much, to be certain.
But, the message in the lyrics is somewhat pleasant, I must admit, though the song itself, melodies and lyrics alike, got old very fast, mostly because it is repeated so many times.
My opinion. Nothing close to professional, so dont take me seriously or anything. Well, it's a well established opinion, but it's not so much misguided as it is uninformed. But that's only because you don't know my musical preferences on a personal level. Lessee. First off, I'm the type of person that doesn't need to conform because I love most genres of music; even current pop. Or, I at least love one song in any given genre. I'm also the type of person that doesn't grows weary of a song from repetition. In fact, I oft love to listen to a song over and over again, and the only reason I stop listening to it is because I found another song to listen to over and over again in a never ending cycle. Another thing you need to know about me is that I ignore all meanings of any and all song lyrics. I listen to the voice of the song as if it is just another musical instrument. Although I sometime sing along with a song, it's not as if look into the deeper meaning (Or even basic) meaning of the words. It's just as if I'm humming the melody. So in saying all of that, let me explain the individual reasons why I hate, or strongly dislike if you think hate is too strong of a word, the specific artists I named. Ke$ha: She has a very annoying instrument of a voice. She sounds like nasally bitc* haha. But that's my subjective opinion. Lady Gaga: "Let's have some fun this beat is sick. I wanna take a ride on your disco stick." (Great lyrics rolleyes ...But they don't even matter to me anyway) Uh, no thank you you freak. Stop trying to bring glam back. You just look ridiculous. Man I wish David Bowie would just bitc* slap her in place. OwlCity: I guess I don't really hate him. His music is just dreck compared to other aspiring artists who use electronic sounds in their music, such as Crystal Castles.
