Nanie-san RinoaHeartilly LegolasGreenleaf That's how I think it should be. You can't hear flutes unless it's solo-like and even then it's hard to hear if it's in the lower or middle octave(sp). Exactly. I can never hear the flutes that play in the other band. Sometimes I can, but just barely. That's why I'm now playing piccolo (the broken school piccolo actually...) I'd swear that all school piccolos are broken. xD My school is constantly sending piccolos to the shop.

I remember in eighth grade there were 3 picclol players (2 eighth and 1 seventh) and the seventh grader's piccolo was always in the shop. Mr. P. was so mad.

Piccolos tend to get broken easily from my experience with them. My friend was renting one from the school, gave it to someone else to experiment on it, and it came back looking like they had used it to replace a baseball bat.

heh. we have so many freshmen. And it's not like most the section leaders know what they're doing anyway... Heather: She's ugly and a bi-ach. She doesn't know how to march, doesn't know what a straight line is and tells everyone else what to do. Allison: She hates me, she's a b***h, I hate her more than anyone else in the band, and she sucks at marching. She's also a slut. Elizabeth: She doesn't have leadership skills. Other than that, I have no problem with her. Keri: The only one who has leadership. Too bad one person can't control 29 others.
Way to go K-dawg (what we call our band director), you sure know how to pick 'em.

For higher notes, tighten your lips, for lower, kind of flatten them.

Am I the only male flutist in the world or something? sweatdrop As far as I know, I'm the only male flutist in my city, including the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and the highschool band. Well, actually I don't know if there are any in the fifth through eighth grade bands, but I know I'm the only one in the highschool.

No. xD There's about 5 male flute players in the freshman band alone, so no, you're not the only one. Even though there aren't that many and 5 out of 20 isn't that many...hey, atleast there are some.

We don't have any guy flutes this year... but last year we had two senior guy flutes. So no, you are not the only one in the world. xd My BD wants to switch me back and forth between tenor and flute all year in wind ensemble, and then stay on tenor for concert band since the other tenor is going to be on clarinet. sweatdrop The wind ensemble is playing two songs at our concert in two weeks, and I'm playing flute for one and tenor for another. Meaning I'm going to have to switch instruments in the middle of the concert. XD That should be... fun. When I'm on flute I get to sit next to the oboe player, though, and she's awesome. She's one of my best friends. ^^
