Ok, so I would like to introduce Proposition 1 in honor of the American Elections.
Proposition 1 is as follows: We the staff of the Gaian Press, do support the beating, and bodily harm of non-staff members in order to induce their participation in staff duties of the Gaian Press.
I vote aye.

Hello, 'zine people. Sorry that I haven't been doing much; October was a hectic month; football games and my grades weren't as good as they should have been. This month may be pretty hectic as well; I'm doing my first try at NaNoWriMo this year, and I really want to at least get close.
I'll be back full-force in December, I'm pretty sure.

Hye guys, we should do the submissions dance, but I don't know what's supposed to be in it. I lost my link to the last submission thread gonk Could someone link me to it?
Also, I intend to make a Hiring Thread this month. Currently, I know we want columnists, reviewers, and just general staffies...anything else?

I'm 3000 words behind my goal for today. gonk But, I'm not beating myself up too bad over it, saying it's my first year and all. That's awful thinking, isn't it? gonk And good luck to you and Serieve as well! Um, we could use a few more critiquers and organizer people. Also, what about poetry for the NaNo themed issue?

I'll be back around if you guys actually need any help, come the end of November. I decided to be stupid and take up NaNo in the one year so far that I have very little free time. Ah, well; I'm insanely far behind already, might as well continue.

November is always a horrible month for me, because the last week of it are my finals. Basically, Novemeber has both the end of midterms, plus finals, all rolled into one happy little katamari. yay. Good luck everyone on your Nanos!

I guess we're going to need a unique Submissions Thread layout for the NaNoWriMo issue. Hm.
As for poetry... good question. If anyone happens to be doing a 50,000 word poem, they can submit it, or if someone decided to write a poem about NaNoWriMo, we can take that, too. Otherwise, I was thinking of just excerpts with little... Author's Notes (?) talking about what they did to plan or where they got their idea, where they heard about NaNoWriMo, something like that.
But if you'd like there to be poetry, we can still take poetry. 3nodding
I, personally, am doing very, very badly. As in, I'm still under 1,000 words. gonk
But that's why I'm doing this. Motivation. I'm still working at it. My story may not be in chronological order, and it may not reach 50 kilowords, but... well, it'll be something.

Don't get too focused on the goal, and just write as much as you want. It's all about fun, after all wink I really like the sound of the Nano spotlight thing, and I'm sure a number of the people doing Nano will be excited to show off their hard work.

I would like poetry; its my favorite part of the 'zine, truth be told. sweatdrop But if we don't get any, its not that big of a deal. I think poetry dealing with the focus of writing and such could be alright as well. Since there isn't much of anyone who would be daring enough to write a 50k poem (great idea for next year for me, though), I don't think they should really have to be NaNo themed.

I mean, I can totally see someone doing a book of poems for their Nano. It wouldn't have to be one long, unending poem. Or, there are always things that actually -are- written as poems (like Shakespeare), and I could see someone doing a story or play like that. Not sure if anyone actually is, though.... sweatdrop
