She nibbled on her bottom lip a moment and mulled it over in her head. "I'm not sure that's a viable thing to ask but no one can testify to seeing her on the streets last night or they'd be lying." Shifting a bit and glancing between the two, "The secondary innkeeper, the human, talked to her last night just after we'd decided to retire which was shortly after dinner. A pirate named Hunter and your guard can testify to the fact that we were seen going up the stairs and she rejoined me ten minutes after she left to speak to the human, which would not be enough time for her to seek out a necromancer and commit this murder. I assume he was stabbed in the back since no necromancer would allow anyone to stab them knowingly without some nasty side effects."

A shake of her head again. "What I do know is this, while in reverie, we are still aware of everything that goes on around us. My friend never left the bed we shared. But, I distinctly remember locking the window to our room after hearing something outside it and this morning it was no longer locked. I know this evidence is weak but also consider this, to my knowledge she has never been to this plane before, knows no one here but me and has no reason to kill another necromancer, much less stab him in the back." She would wait to see their response before she revealed anything else.

"One, you are a mystery. and like any thief or scoundrel, a mystery always attracts attention with the need to figure it out. two, your right, I can't sense magic like you can. thus some objects in my collection I would like to have inspected, but due to my...reputation, I can't exactly come to a tradepost here. three, your a challenge, I like those. four, there is a valuable object that is missing. if I find it, or most of it, it makes for a good ransom. since it's magical in nature, a magic using person such as yourself could be of use. and of course various other uses for you."

A smirk.

"I have a replacement for you, and the evidence to clear you and put it on him. so, you game for this or not? we are running a little short on time."

Lycear weighed the words in his mind...she was right, it was weak. She had only herself to provide as actual witness to things. Though he knew of the Reverie...and it perhaps worked in her favor a little. But a blink at her. "Another necromancer...this meaning your friend is one as well?" And well...they were indeed known to kill things for supplies and minions.

He shook his head. "It's not enough I'm afraid. Being her friend puts you at a disadvantage. Please, stay a moment." Turning a look to Raynes and the dragoness nearby. "I want the dagger brought to me, as well as any other evidence thus gathered. Dagger, blood, clothes, feathers everything. And from you Raynes, I want a report. Now."

"Perhaps you did not hear me correctly so I will say it slow for your dull ears to pick up on. I will not be one to owe you in any form." Stay strong...her parents taught her that as had life. Her and her mother's almost deaths had shown her. Sure…she hadn’t really tried to kill Piper…she was just the oops baby that biology finally decided to bless her mother with, without the aid of drugs. Mom’s body just wasn’t too well suited for her though…but they both pulled through alright. That first year after her birth was hell for them both though. But here she was now, and she wasn't going to be a victim to anyone, and certinally not to unfortunate circumstances.

"I am appauled that you would put my honor before me and ask me to step upon it. I am an elf and of an honorable House. You expect me to flee like a common criminal? And join your ranks? Let me use you as you wish? Listen up you coniving human, you want my services then you'll do business with me, not ask for my honor on a silver plattar. If you think you can blackmail me...you were duely mistaken Pirate."

"As you wish. Your friend won't sway the powers that be here. you've nothing to throw in your defense, no one to verify anything but her, and being your friend means they'll half toss out everything she says because she could easily be lying to get her friend out of jail and a potential execution."

a slight chuckle.

"Honor is a trapping made by those who are 'noble' and need a reason not to do what they want to do. It's not honorable to steal and stab in the back. even though they would love to do that to others that have things they want. besides, you rip souls and bring the dead into unlife as servants. what's so honorable about that?"

before a glance out to the guards and a shrug.

"But, since your answer is no, apparently, and the nap time for them is almost over...I'll see you at your execution."

A little wave and back into the dark with him, and not two minutes later whistling lightly and walking along the wall toward the Chimera.

Though light her father....she also had his temper of his younger years. Which meant that her fuse was shoot and she was loud, mostly violent when others were within hitting distance. And if there hadn't been bars in her way to misjudge then she would of punched him in the face... Insult her and her honor as such, as well as her profession. "You b*****d! I'll hunt you down on principal and add you to my collection! How's that sound!" Blind eyes staring after the direction that she thought he had gone. He thought he was so smug, that she was going to be stuck with his dirty hands.

A moment later, she calmed herself and gave a chuckle and a smirk. Not that he would hear what she had to say seeing as he walked off, full of himself. "You have one flaw in your plan...Hawk...and you're too egomanical to notice that you've provided me with the perfect witness to your crime. Necromancers can call upon the souls so they may speak of truths. Then...you shall face the scorn of the House D'vinn. I believe in your language...it's called vendetta."

"My Lord I know it seems weak and I know that you really can't take my word since you know nothing of me or my friend. She is a necromancer and she herself can commune with souls or something along those lines. Give her a chance to prove her innocence. Not only does she have no reason to kill anyone on this plane but she is blind. And at one point last night I could have sworn there was someone else in the room with us." Shyrae shook her head, "I believe she is being framed and I want to know by who and why. No one here knows of us, what we are, or why we are here. Who would possibly choose to frame her and why? She is the perfect scapegoat since she is a necromancer but the facts don't match up unless it was a random murder and she doesn't commit such crimes. All I ask is that you allow me to find the real killer before any action is taken against her."

Well Caden kept quiet, after all being in front of Lycear and Commander Kaznec he had to be respectful, thier were more stronger in body and mind and he has always respected them from when he has joined the guards. Though when the commander looked at him in light of the arrest and he nodded to the dragon, but still he listened before he decided to speak on the King's command. "Well sir I made the arrest prior to hearing about the murder from a fellow guard, of course I knew that the suspect was said elf who came in yesterday and it was luck that I came across her while heading to the wall to report in for duty. It was then that I saw her pull out the knife and my first thought was to arrest her, I tried to treat her with good intentions of taking her in but due to the fact of her little display of magic I couldn't take the chance of her harming me with her powerful spells; I admit I am a little upset that I had to arrest her on so little evidence but I know of our methods of able to prove if she was guilty or not and there is the fact of the people..." He paused for a minute before taking a small breath. "Well we all know that some people have been a little...restless lately and I had believed that the rumor of the murder had already spread to them; if one of these people were to find her with the knife they may have taken thier own chances with her...so I thought it would be best to take her in as soon as possible. Right now she is sitting in her jail cell with her bird, since I was told by her friend that she needed her falcon. Also I manage to have the knife stored with the rest of the evidence...so it will all be retrievable when someone goes to get it."

He looked to the drow for a moment, what he spoke was true and the dragons had ways of finding out if he was lying; still he didn't mean to come off as a rude man who just wanted to arrest the blind elf. That was another thing that got him, that elf was blind and it made his stomach turn a little. Sighing a little Raynes turned his eyes back to Lord Lycear and kept an ear opened, it seemed that the drow wanted to find out who framed her fiend, it was since to see someone go all out to help thier friend and that made Raynes smile a little bit.

Kaznec shifted slightly on his feet, thinking through the two sides of the stories they had been given. So it was one necromancer against another. One of them blind and a foreign visitor who had only just stepped foot within Ilindal's walls. The other, completely apparently unknown to him and his guards. "No time witnesses does indeed put your friend at a great disadvantage. However, the small detail about your unlocked window is important and will be taken into account, along with the rest of the physical evidence my guards have collected."

Golden eyes passed from her to the human guard and he continued, still in that quiet reasonable tone. "Raynes, correct? You say you made the arrest before being informed of the murder last night. How then did you know that she was a suspect in the case? Knives are not weapons of mass destruction. Most of the population in the city carry knives and some have even more dangerous accessories on them. This also rests with magic. Objects in one's possession are not enough to condemn them." He paused a beat to let the guard consider his words then continued, voice ever passive and commanding. "Arrests are made based on evidence, not intuition or emotion. To presume that she was the guilty one and subsequently arrest her simply because she carried a bloody knife and that she possessed powerful magic, was a completely rash move on your part. If she is innocent, then you will have cost her a great deal of trouble and the Ilindal Guard, our professionalism."

Letting that note hang in the air for a moment, he tilted his head thoughtfully and then turned back to look at the other. "Lady elf, I understand your concern for your friend's wellbeing but you will have to understand that she cannot be released just yet since all factual evidence seems to point at her. I do agree, however, that there are many potential clues that may prove that she was indeed framed for this crime. Thus, I propose this. We allow your friend one week's worth of temporary probation from the jail in order for her to seek out new evidence to prove her innocence. You and her are not to leave the city walls during this time and you must report back to me in person every 48 hours. I, with the Ilindal Guard, will continue to perform a throughout investigation of the case as well. " A glance over at Lycear. "Does this sound reasonable, father?"

A blind elf...that was something you didn't run across everyday. They usually had ways of fixing such things or didn't get so caught up in something that things like that happened. He nodded to her lightly, acknowledging that he took in her information and then turned his attentiont to Caden's repot.

Arrests being made on show of weapons now? Arrest him then, he had a sword on his hip. Though humans he knew were easy to scare...and they feared for thier mortality more accutely than others. They jumped at the cracking twig, so to speak. For a moment he was quiet before turning his attention to Raynes once more, resting his hands under his wings behind his back. "As good as your intentions may have been...for all...I fear for a fact that has come of all of this." A look to his son and then to he drow then. "Which is why I simply cannot let her be released from custody. Even to find her own evidence. The people will know of Raynes action and to comfort themselves, she is for now guilty by association. To let her wander freely through would cause unrest."

He made a sound in his throat, that of a dragon in thought. "Kaznec...you must allow for the error of humans. They think with thier emotions strongly and have a sense of preservation." Hey he had to play fair to everyone involved now didn't he? Sure did. "And, my son, you are also right. If nothing comes of all of this, Raynes you owe an apology." Clearing his throat lightly and looking to the drow once more. "Therefore...this is my decision. You and your friend, shall both reside here in the tower for the time being, still in custody of the Guard. Within that time, the Commander and I will go over evidence, question everyone involved, and...we shall speak to souls. Kaznec, I want you personally to go fetch the girl, take the lady elf with you and then fetch thier things, bring them both back here. Raynes, you stay with me a moment."

Shyrae was experiencing a few different emotions though she simply stood there betraying none of them. Anger flared up at how cavalierly Caden had handled such a monumental thing as her best friend's arrest. He hadn't even known about the murder, only seen the knife. For all he knew that blood could have been that of an animals. Was it a crime to kill an animal now? She felt slightly mollified hearing the guard chastised in what she would have found an embarrassing way. The younger dragon's words pleased her immensely but as she turned to the older and proclaimed leader, the joy that had taken root in her heart, died.

They were to be chained as prisoners. One prison was no better than another but she could see the wisdom behind it as well. She closed her eyes for a moment, blinking back tears at this new predicament and merely bowed her head then turned to leave. "Thank you for at least hearing me out. I know it was highly presumptuous of me to even come in here like this. I appreciate your sound judgment." Even if you are wrong! Heading out, she waited for the proclaimed Kaznec, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall. "I just want you to know that you are all wrong about her," she said quietly when he joined her. "She's not a murderess and neither am I."

"Yes father." Bowing slightly, he listened carefully to his father's change in plans and nodded along. He had much to learn still. Taking the people's reactions in consideration was one step he had missed. It would not happen again. When all was said and done, he turned and walked out of the room, leading the elf down the winding staircase of the tower. "As I too hope, lady. Unfortunately, emotion is not the right hand of justice." He led her through the city, passing a dozen or so guards on the way down to the jail cells. Reaching the target, he extracted a key he had been given by the dragoness from earlier and moved to insert it into the metal padlock.

Oh great there goes the Commander, now Caden felt like an idiot at the moment as his report was being poked through without much resistance, the feeling he had before now felt much worse which got a small sigh from him. There was still the fact that he forgot to mention of the feathers and what not but it didn't matter, probably the drow would think of him lesser now, though he didn't know what she thought of him but he always tried to leave a good memory on those he served; then again the elf he arrested probably thinks of him worse. Though he felt way worse infront of the commander and Lycear, they were the ones he respected the most and since he made a bad choice it seemed he looked like such a fool to them.

When Lord Lycear spoke he listened quietly and nodded a little, he understood his error, but he didn't like it how his emotions were always brought up everytime they made a mistake, but again the Lord was right and he wont argue with any of it. "I will surely give the apology if nothing does come of this my Lord, it is due for the way I reacted." So he watched quietly as the others got ready to go and stood with his hands in his pockets, there was not much he could do now expect wait to see how all of this turn out in the end.

She stayed mutinously silent after that comment, following along behind him and shaking her head. There were many things she wished to say to him but right now her concern was Savvy. The moment he opened that cell, she raced inside and took her friend by the shoulders. "Are you alright?" A glance at Kaznec and she cleared her throat, "I need just a moment alone..." Thus taking Savvy's hand, she led her to a corner of the cell.

"We're leaving the cell but you aren't cleared yet, Savvy. Instead we both are being kept at the tower with the leader of the city. He swears he'll search out all the evidence he can and have the soul questioned as well. I don't know if you're going to be the one to do that or not though..." A shake of her head. "We're both prisoners now but at least the tower is a little better than this place." Giving a look around at the dank and fetid quarters. "Come on with us." She took her friend's hand and carefully led her back out. "Alright, we can return now."
PostPosted: Wed May 09, 2007 7:10 pm

His attention for a moment went to dragoness still present. "I would like you to bring everything that this case has with it to me and deliver it personally to my hands. The body...put it in the storage room for now and no one is to touch it afterward." Having her confirmation and watching her take her leave, Lycear walked over to Caden and rested a taloned dragon's paw on his shoulder. "I understand your actions Raynes, and I shall not condem you for them. A little more tact perhaps, but you're young and still learning. You followed your thoughts on what you thought was best. I know...times are hard and we are pressed by the people to keep them safe among all the chaos of late. What is one your mind, you look fretful."

Savryn had returned to her brooding on the cot in the cell, formulating plans in her head. Though her ears twitched at the sounds of footsteps and of the sound of metal grinding metal. Chylithair still clutched close to her, she whispered something to to. The moment the door opened, she let go of the bird and he jumped into the air, taking wing in it and darting out of the open cell door, navigating his way out of the building and onward. He had his orders.

Though next things she knew, she was in familiar hold then pulled to a corner and being spoken to. Savryn merely scowled. "This is ludacris...but I am fine." But she allowed herself to be lead out, before snatching her hand back and folding her arms in front of her, tucking her hands in her sleeves. "Let's just go...what of my things?" Yes she was in one of those withdrawn moods of hers.

Meanwhile, Chylithair had taken leave of the city...he had a ship to find.

Kaznec whipped his head up at the sound of the bird flying off. That was harmless by theory, but this was a necromancer's pet and so it would be reported as everything else was. After giving the elf her moment with the prisoner, he stepped forward and gestured with his hand. "I shall accompany you both to fetch your belongings from the inn you were staying at. Then we will return to my father's tower." Tucking the keys away on his body again, he moved to exit the jail. "I apologize for the inconvenience of these terms, but we have no other choice."
