"I'm sure they will, lass." Despite his age, the audio's reasurrance really did reasurre her & Trelweny felt comfortable leaving the egg to play with her family. They hd not even noticed her distraction from them, being in a game of 'can't catch the kitty' where Theron gleefully toddled after Kiran who would jump out of the child's reach whenever he got close. Tien, having givin up on its own search was flitting in & out creating mild distractions for the youngster who would giggle & reach for the airborne kun. Watching, Trelweny let herself smile. This was turning out to be a good day. She wondered what Koniryu would say when he sw she found a kyunru egg. Perhaps she would discover that when she went to Durem this evening.
Sitting down beside the wagon the young mother kept herself ready to chase after her son at a moments notice if need be but for now just enjoyed the merry chase the 3 where in s a bystander. Glad not to be babysitting, Aiden smiled & got comfortable as well. It was difficult sometimes, being one of the more mature & responsible ones in the family.

After a rousing game of 'toddler tag' & a few hours of 'chase the baby' Theron started to flop on the ground, just lying there for a few minutes before smiling & getting up again. Trelweny grinned, recognizing the signs for what they were: her little man was tired. "Well now..." She swung the toddler into the air & into her arms amid a wash of happy giggles. Theron cuddled his head into her shoulder & Trelweny simply stood there, breathing in the scent of him & savoring the bliss of the moment. "We need to get you home for a nap & dinner before we venture out this evening to Durem, don't we?"
Smiling Aiden picked up the exhausted persekitty & kunkun from where they flopped in the short grass & followed softly behind the human as she settled Theron into the wagon. The tired tyke smiled at the pretty egg in his blanket, then pulled another blanket around him & over his head before lying down next to it. Trelweny gave a sigh of relief. Good thing Theron was too tuckered out to do more. Carefully the audio tucked the smaller creatures into folds of blankets. As quietly as they could the little party headed for home.
((When we return it will probably be spring or otherwise closer to whatever the starting post date is. *hugs*))

Progolo sat with his abck against a tree, humming complacently to himself as he stroked a tiny blue bundle of fur and feathers that lay curled in his lap. The creature, a griffin-like chick named Myrrh, snoozed peacefully.
Only Yaraif's frantic searching for Tien interrupted the ambience of the meadows.
"Pelae Teen? Pelae Lock? Pelae Shpoe? Pelae Kir'n?~" Yaraif called, darting around amongst flowers and tall grasses.

By the White Wolf, I wish this wagon had seat belts! It was not the first time that Trelweny had thought this & the peacock-hued, runed fae kyunru riding in said wagon giggled at the strong thought even as she flicked her tails out of reach of Theron's grasp once more. Why not use stroller? She thought at her human bond. Because in ways, this is easier.
"Aamha! Aamha! Ero nerae!" Tien started shrieking as soon as it heard the first hint of Yaraif calling as they approached. Taking off like a dart it followed the sound of its friend's voice.
Out of the wagon Kirin jumped racing to follow the kun. A slight frown crossed his face, disappointment at not being the kun's 'steed' today. "Tien! Wait for me!"
Locke grinned over his shoulder at his familiar. "Are you on or off, Shippou? 'Cause I'm about to follow!" Golden eyes twinkled with merriment. The little fox sighed, trying to put on his faux gruff exterior. "Well, the bug's calling for me too... so I guess I'm on."
"Then hold on!" With that, Locke too was off & running.
Behind with the wagon & the "young ones" -as she currently called Keyna & Theron- Trelweny smiled. "After a day at the meadow, sometimes even Locke needs a ride home. Oh. the kyun replied, not quite convinced. Then again, she was still a baby.

Progolo looked up at the sound of a set of wheels bouncing over the uneven meadow floor, and he cocked an eyebrow quizzically. What could that be?
A blue-gray-green blur shot out from behind the clump of trees Progolo rested beneath, causing him to jump. Oh, it was Tien...
Tien was followed by two larger blurs, a yellow streak of light and an odd combination of red and green stripes. Myrrh, who'd awakened at the sound of Yaraif's delighted gibbering, tensed up, her ears flicking. What was all this commotion?
Progolo, too, was perplexed. Where was that noise coming from? Tucking the helpless chick under his arm, he clambered to his feet and peered around.
At last, he caught sight of a young woman dragging what must have been a wagon behind her. In it sat a small child a ball of fluff he couldn't quite make out.
"Would you like some help?" Progolo asked, surprised that she would drag a young boy all the way up the clock tower and into another realm...in a wagon. He half-strode half-jogged his way over to her.
Her face was recognizeable, but not exactly familiar. He hadn't seen her in a very long time, and had hardly glimpsed her then at all. "You're name is Trelweny, right?"
Meanwhile, Yaraif was happily babbling while she gave Tien a tight bear-hug. Again, she was speaking too fast to be clearly understood, even by the other kun-kun, but her general message was that she was thrilled to see so many Pelae all in one place.

((I always forget we're in the clocktower now. sweatdrop Good thing it's only a red flyer wagon, not a huge thing.))She smiled warmly at the young man, just pleased to hear her name from another human. "Yes. Yes I am. Thanks, but I think I've got it now." She laughed lightly, almost making fun of herself. "I need to come up with a better way to get up here, is all." Taking a moment, she looked over the young man. "Progolo?" She had not seen him herself in a very long time. Not since he found the singing gem, & then only briefly. "Locke & Shippou said they had seen you here." Again she smiled, this time a bit sheepishly, then offered as if in explanation to an unspoken question. "Tien insisted I bring the babies." Tien itself was gleefully reciprocating the bear-hug it found itself in. "Telneke? Heke taza san idme disa?"Locke shook his head, trying to understand the kuns' babble. "Dang. Between Yaraif's speed talk & Tien already having picked up on the extended kunkunese I can't keep up!" "You keep trying there, buddy."((Paper says kuns will pick it up naturally as they hear it... *sheepish*))

"Progolo, yes," he confirmed. Progolo made a move to offer his left hand, hesitated for a moment, then shifted Myrrh to the other arm and offered the right. He was ambidextrous, and not terribly used to Gaian etiquette, so trivial matters like these occaisionally confused him.
Hoping she hadn't noticed his awkwardness (being a perfectionist, such things bothered him greatly) he repeated "babies?" and looked with interest into the wagon. A cheerful-faced boy sat there, harassing the afforementioned fluffball. "Oh, this must be your son...very handsome, isn't he?" Progolo murmurred kindly as he stooped to get a better look. His eyes slid gradually over to the mass of fur. The sight provoked a thoughtfully perplexed expression from his face, but he didn't say anything.
Is that what I think it is...?
"Tag~!" Yaraif squealed. "Lipu pelae, opsaa fun tag! Yeninin!"
(( I'll just pretend Yaraif already knows it... *cheater!* xp ))

((works for me! *grins* I'm loving the extra vocabulary! If only I had been as keen on vocab while in language classes. xp ))
"Oh... no...!" Locke groaned to his familiar. "Seems Yaraif only needed Tien speaking the 'new' kunkunese to remember it! I'm gonna hafta study with Myranda tonight!" "What's so bad about that?" "Study & Myranda in the same sentence. Think about it." "O-oh."
"Tag! tag! Sek!" Giddily the kun flew around happily. Tien was a little too hyper to think that it did not know who was it yet.
Theron beamed up at Progolo, knowing he had been complimented. Soon his attention returned to the colorful, more active kuns & he reached excitedly in their direction. With purpose setting his young face he pushed Keyna's peacock imitating tails from his legs & leaned forward so he could push his legs over the side of the wagon while on his belly. Proud mother that she is, Trelweny beamed as well. "Yes. This is TheronDeVon. He takes after his late father." A sadness passed over her face, quickly replaced by another smile as the toddler -legs dangling over the side- searched for the ground with his toes.
"And this is my other 'baby'... Keyna. We found her egg by the kyunru shack only last month." She shook her head, as if the shock was still too overwhelming. "I've no idea how it got there, but we're so grateful to have found it when we did." With smiling eyes she poured love down on her fae girl. loves you too.
Little feet touched grass & a laughing Theron let go of the wagon to land with giggles on the ground. Quick as anything he moved his short little legs to chase after Kiran, Locke, & the two kuns. As usual, the moving pets were of more interest than those that stayed still.

"Ero teln it," Yaraif insisted, pointing to herself. "Sek? Naante? Ero idme teln IT!" She was already setting her sights on Kiran, but, in a remarkable display of courtesy from the spoiled kun-kun, she was asking permission first.
Progolo absorbed all that was said with awe and, when the woman mentioned her husband, a pang of pity. He debated expressing this in words, but figured it probably shouldn't be dwelt on. Instead, he focused his attention on the adorable Kyunru.
"That's amazing," he breathed, kneeling down beside the wagon (his calves refused to support his stooped posture any longer.) "Was she...runed? And those antenna..." The urge to touch the furball was almost over-whelming, but he kept his hands buried in Myrrh's fur.
Myrrh, lacking the jealous streak her kun-kun 'sibling' possessed, was pleased to see a prospective friend. She clicked her beak and chirped at the Kyunru in an endearing manner.

"Yarf IT! Yarf IT! Yarf IT!" Tien squealed agreeably, darting away. Eyes widening -understanding that bit exchange from the kuns- the other three split up as well, all bolting for different sections of the meadow.
Theron, just arriving stopped at the sudden dispersal of animals & stood with a perplexed expression on his young face. Now Which should he chase?
Keyna made happy noises at the pair, pleased with the attention. Her brown eyes shone & she set herself into a more friendly & inviting position. "Oh yes. There were two runes on her egg. I don't know who possibly could have done them." Again a slight shake of the head. "I think she must be some sort of fae, with the antennae & wing type. I wanted to ask Koniryu about her egg when I found it but he's been off somewhere."
"We're just lucky my gaiacom can conjure things. She had to conjure everything for the delicate hatching process. I was terrified we would mess something up, but luckily we learned quickly."

(( 2 runes? I thought she only had the multiple tail one...what's the other? ))
Yaraif almost went after Kiran, but balked when the strangest little creature she'd ever seen waddled into view. She hesitated, hovering in midair, looking over Theron. He looked...like a short, chunky Prolo! But different...
She'd seen other humans before, of course, but had never laid eyes on a toddler. Endlessly curious, she hummed in his direction, stopping out of reach and peering at him.
"Pelae?" she called, without taking her eyes off her new discovery. "Nerae! Heke ihi?"
"Hatching process? What did that involve?" Progolo questioned, lifting the gryphon chick so that she could get a closer look at the cute little Kyunru. Myrrh burbled with pleasure.

((Her ears are bunny-floppy. hard to tell with the white tips. & Paper chose to curl the ends which I thought was so darling, but goes away from the flop-eared look the tiniest bit.))
Theron was ecstatic. He did not speak much yet, but he understood plenty. Unfortunately, none of it was kunkunese.
Still, the Easter kun was close -very close- & making sounds as well as moving; her tiny wings beating to keep her air-born. Not only that but she hummed. The little man loved music & dancing very much. Lifting his arms entreatingly he babbled back at the kun. "Abu! Abbuu abu!"
Sparing a glance at her son hearing his 'I want' phrase & tone, Trelweny gave a sigh of relief realizing that Yaraif was well out of reach of the two year old's grasp. "It took a special chamber & some strange gasses. My talaye wizard twins actually helped Myranda process the ingredients properly." The awe in her voice easily expressed the wonder at that miracle, even after the passage of time. "The actual process is kind a haze to me now. Myr really did most of the work. I could assist her again, but I don't recall enough of the fine details on my own to regale you with. I'm sorry." ((ie: I know the process was said to be difficult, but I've not chatted with Paper to see what it entailed or even if she had more details originally or not.))
Looking around for Yaraif, Tien finally heard its friend's question & fluttered hurriedly back. "Tan teln bay-bee. Trel bay-bee. Tan teln Ter-ON." With all its languages, Tien had not mastered the 'th' sound. "Pelae, demo tosaal waa." Here, it imitated the grasping & pulling of wings. "Demo opsaa puque. Yegdre pelae." Nodding for emphasis, Tien fluttered in & out of the toddler's reach. Theron happily tried to catch the kun; stomping his feet & laughing.
Keyna giggled, almost purring at the gryphon. It was a baby like her! She stuck her little nose out to nuzzle Myrrh's cheek feathers.
"What about you? This little darling must be newly hatched!" Trelweny smiled her praise down upon Progolo's chick. "I don't think I'm familiar with the species..." a type of griffin perhaps? she finished mentally, thoughtful look on her face. There were so many species on Gaia... it was impossible to know them all!
Locke was nearly to the gateway & Kiran nearly to the ruined village tree when they realized they could no longer hear the happy sounds of kun-chasing. Curious, they each turned & cautiously set back to see what had stalled the game. Shippou, on the other hand seemed to have forgotten they were playing tag at all: having found himself a nice cozy spot by the river that was mostly hidden. Curled between rock, river & a broad leaf, the little fox dozed his fluffy tail covering his nose.

Yaraif's eyes lit up with delight and the funny little dance displayed by the strange creature below her. He had the CUTEST smile!
"Tan puuuuuuuuquuuuuuuue~" Yaraif crooned, forgetting that she was in a strategic position to tag Tien.
Progolo nodded thoughtfully to Trel's explanation, while Myrrh cooed and affectionately nibbled the Kyunru's ear. She loved fluffy warm, nice creatures.
"Oh...She's a few months old," said Progolo in response to the woman's question. "Her name's Myrrh...I was told she's a breed called a Nyokii. I don't know how common they are around here...er, Gaia, that is...but I think she's actually a bit of a runt. She ought to be bigger than this, and walking, by now." Then, with a smile, he added "but I can hardly complain. She's easier to keep track of this way..."

Each time Yaraif or Tien drew closer, Theron would reach for them then grin crookedly as they fluttered out of reach. Luckily he found this a great game, or his short temper would be lit at not getting what he wanted. "immie! immie!" He chanted, little fingers clenching & unclenching.
Coming up on the site, Locke grinned. Looks like they're keeping themselves occupied. Lazily the cait curled up a safe distance away to watch.
"I know what you mean. Theron's small for his age... & he really should be saying more than bye-bye in English & 'more' in sign language." The young mother sighed in resignation. "There's a few others he says that are almost words, but he just doesn't say them enough or consistently for me to think he uses them intentionally."
"I know we shouldn't fret, but sometimes its hard. Goes with being a parent, I guess." She gave a sheepish little grin.

Yaraif decided that this game, though fun, needed an additional rush of exhiliration. It was time to make a gamble. With this thought in mind, she whizzed cleverly out of Theron's grasp and settled onto his head to see his reaction. She was easily within reach, but whether Theron would realize that--and be fast enough to catch her--remained to be seen. She flashed Tien a brave, "man, I'm clever aren't I?" smile.
Progolo sighed in agreement, gently prying Myrrh's beak away from the Kyunru's ear (though her nibble was well-meant). "I'm afriad I don't have any advice for you," he admitted. "I don't know anything about language development in children." He lifted Myrrh's light form into the wagon and placed her beside her new best friend. Myrrh always did like a good cuddle.
