Gaian Name: FieryLavaElf (You can call me FLE)
Registered: Jan. 2006
Neopet User: Trelelah
Pics: Sorry, no pics because A) I'm camera shy B) Even if I have pics, I wouldn't know how to link it or post it. sweatdrop
Nationality: Chinese (although some Phillipines mistaken me as one of their own)
Real Name(s): (Choose your pick) Mei Boa or Mabel
Alternative Name: Hoa Yeun
Nickname: Witch. That was the nickname most of my co-workers at Sam the Record Man called me because I know too much as well as some family members because both my dad and my grandma from paternal side passed away almost 25 years apart. My dad left 2 weeks after my 4th birthday and my grandma left 2 weeks before my 29th birthday.
History of Names: My mom named me Mei Boa (Mei means "beautiful" and Boa derives from the characters boa pui which means "precious") but the nurse at the time mistook it and wrote the English name onto the Birth Registration form instead. Already that was bad enough. Just before my baptism, the priest told my mom to change my Chinese name completely because it sounded the same as the English name. My mom had a month to go through thousands of different characters to find the alternative name which means "loveable and happiness". Anyway, throughout my life, there are over 100+ people (including the Quebec government) misspelled my name (most common one is switching the last 2 letters around). Here are some misspells: Mable, Maybelle, Maybel, Mayble, Maibel, Marbel (huh?!?) Maple (?!?) and Mabelle. That was the least of my worries because right now, due to a lot of immigrants coming over to Canada, my name often mispronounced. The Phillipines (they thought I was a Phillipino too) called me Ma Belle. The closest person who actually called me by my Chinese (original) name was one of my co-worker's husband. He called me Mei and my co-worker at that time told him it's not. I told her that's okay to call me that. Afterall, I have not heard anyone (other than my mom) call me by that name. Do I still love my name? Yes, the name which very few females bear, becomes too unique. They should've change Mabel's meaning to "beautiful and precious" instead of "loveable" . The french meaning for Mabelle is "My Beauty". The English name became too beautiful and precious to me. Anyway, where was I? Oh yes...
Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec, Canada, North America, Earth, Milky Way Galaxy, etc...
Current Residence: Ontario, Canada (aka. The Great White North)
Birthday: May 19
Interests: Dancing, voice acting (the drama teachers said I have not only obtained creative voice but also creative tone which most people don't have), reading, beading and collecting dolls, comic books (which I quit 2 years ago), mangas and watching anime. Genre of books: Horror/Fantasy, Horror/Romance, Fantasy, and Dark Fairy Tales. Genre of Anime/Manga: Sci-Fi, Fairy Tales, Horror, Fantasy and Miyazaki. Favourite Sci-Fi shows: The Tomorrow People (1970's which I find it hilarious) and Doctor Who (the Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker series). When I was a child, I had a thing with insects. I was only 2 years old when I held and examined a cockroach (which I almost gave my mom a heart attack when she saw me holding it too close to my face). When I was 10, I spotted a cocoon nest of caterpillars near the school. Unfortunately, the kids saw it too and destroyed it (using branches, shoes and a rock). I tried to stop them but it was too late. The teachers wanted to know who started it and the same kids all pointed at me. As a result, my dream of becoming an entomologist ended when the teachers reprimanded me.
What attracted me to Gaia: the Avi Arena. I'm just there to see how people react to my avi. Currently, I'm experimenting the voters to see who read the description and who isn't. I'm also writing up a draft before sending a suggestion to the Gaia Team about revamping the avi arena so that not only the voters vote the avi but also vote for the description. If you average both components together, you should have an overall score. It's really not fair for those who worked so hard on their descriptions (I've seen some who have a lot better description than mine) and ended up on the losing end. Why? Voters vote for the avi not the description.
Family Members: My mom (she stumbled the Gaia site by looking over my shoulder), 3 brothers (also Gaian players who also stumbled it by looking over my shoulder). They all registered in Sept. 2007
Family Pets: Tiger (domesticated indoor male orange tabby), Melody (extremely shy domesticated indoor female Canadian Bobtail) and Sunshine (red-eared Slider)
I'm also the only member who loves to type l-o-o-o-o-n-n-g posts.
Status: no boyfriend and still single
Personality: extremely shy (especially near cameras), preserved and spread the giggle juice to co-workers who are under a lot of stress.
Favourite games (from the past to present): Lemonade (Commodore 64), Star Trek (Commodore 64), Air Sea Battle! (Atari 2600), I can't remember the name of the game but it was done by Activision for use on Atari 2600. It's a shooting game that has rubber tires rolling side by side but going towards you, burgers coming down at you, diamonds dazzle their way down to you. That game remained my favourite in my heart. Anyway, back to other favourite games from the past: Kangaroo! (Atari 2600), Ikari Warriors (NES), Gyromite?!? (one of the few NES games which required the Robot), Tetris (Gameboy), Yoshi (NES/Gameboy), Yoshi's Cookies (SNES), Wordtris (SNES), Final Fantasy II (SNES), Bust-a-Move (SNES), Pocky and Rocky (SNES), Pocky and Rocky 2 (SNES), Hiyankyo?!? Aliens (Gameboy game about a human entrapping the aliens by burying them alive), Mixed up Mother Goose (IBM386), Mixed up Fairy Tales (IBM486), Persona (Playstation), Persona 2 (Playstation), Kartia (Playstation), Bust-a-Move series (Playstation), Star Ocean: The Second Story (Playstation) and Rhapsody the Musical (Playstation... although they could've improve the dubbing).
I think that's it for now before someone complains about the long bio posting I typed... sweatdrop

soumakisa. You're not the only one who doesn't look like her age either. Some customers think that I'm still in high school (18 years old) but I'm almost twice that age. Must've been something we ate which makes us look young. xd

Gemstone.. YAY for freckles! I miss mine terribly. something happened to them through my mid 20s, they sort of ran away.
And umm.. your yard looks fantastic. I think the summer gathering should include a barbeque at your place, video games, and pictionary.

About Me: I'm very hard on myself and normally always depressed due to the events that I have gone through...Perhaps I'll speak of them at a later dat but for now I'll keep them to myself.
