It was raining relentlessly. Normally, a lion, or any creature would want to remain dry...safe, inside a cave somewhere. But a small shadow could be seen leaping and running through the tall grass. Thunder shook the ground while lightening occasionally flashed across the sky, lighting everything up momentarily before disappearing, letting the rain be heard once more. It didn't seem to concern the young cub, who was a mere shadow in the distance, due to the rain.
Undaunted by the weather condition, the cub only continues to run, his paws slipping here and there, sometimes even falling. Finally, he slows, and stops at his temporarily home... a slanted rock, jutting out of the ground. Breathing heavily from his excercise, Takato crawls underneath, away from the pounding rain. He closes his eyes, trying to get some rest...but for some reason, sleep would not come. Shifting positions, Takato moves to his side, then on his stomach...then onto his other side, trying to find a comfortable spot. Letting out a growl of fustration, he abruptly jerks his head upward, hitting his head against the rock. "Ow!"
Slumping down, he pats his head, trying to lower the sting. There would probably be a bump there the next day. Sighing, he closes his eyes... but opens them again, once he hears a small, scared mew. Tentively, just to check if something was there, Takato says in a rather bold tone, "Hello?" His eyes searches through the rain, trying to find something moving, or perhaps something coming towards him. Was it just his imagination? It must have been... because he didn't hear a reply, or any sort of movement. Settling down again, he blinks, slowly drifting into a light slumber...

Finally, Taka lay down in the seclusion of the small outcropping he called 'home'. It was set back from the main cave of Pride Rock, but still within sight of the far tip of the ceremony stone itself. The location was perfect for him. It let him keep an eye on his brother... and the stone reminded him every day of what was dangling just out of his grasp. Snarling faintly, he smacked a discarded bone out of his way, barely noting when it ricocheted off of the side of the cave and bounced out into the rain.
Laying down, he contented himself with sleep for now. Tonight, perhaps, he would start his plan in motion. Perhaps...

"Hello?"
It could barely be heard over the pounding rain and rolling thunder, but Badiri was sure someone had called out. Not wanting to leave his only shelter (though it wasn't keeping him too dry), the cub called out a response. "H-hello? Is someone out there?"

Dama looked towards the direction of the nod and grimly agreed. It wasn't much, but who were they to complain? Seperately they would be cold, but together, they would at least keep each other somewhat warm.....not perfect but it was worth a try. Her stomach growled and she lowered her head, ashamed. It'd been a long time since she'd eaten. She only hoped that Kitwana kept to his promise if they lived through this whole ordeal....
((Short, but you shoulda seen what I had earlier that was eaten by IE closing on me without warning *snort*))

Almost on the verge of slipping into sleep, Takato was only jerked out of his sleep again, now hearing the voice calling out, louder. He jerks his head up, and again, bangs his head against the rock. "OW! " Takato drops back down again, having completely forgotten that he was going to sleep underneath a slanted rock. Sighing, he looks out into the pouring rain, trying to see who had woken him from his near slumber. "Er...hello? You still there?" He had begun to feel a bit silly, calling out but having no reply... until a few moments after. "Heellooo?"

Ok, Badiri was sure he heard someone this time.. Shivering as rain poured down his spine, the cub decided he couldn't stay here anymore. Whoever was out there was bound to have better shelter than this. "W-where are you?" He would try to follow whoever's voice it was and hope it was someone nice on the other end..

Trudging towards the rocks soggily, Kitwana cast his eyes once more around the area. He could hear something, not too far off. About as trusting as a millionaire in a jail, the adolescent shooed Dama into the rocky crevice, lambering on top of it himself to get a better view. Ears twitching, the once-slave growled softly as the sound of other creatures broke over his consciousness. They were not alone.

Takato listened intently for a reply, and was quite surprised to hear one... afterall, it could've all been in his head... "I'm over here!" He takes a paw out, only to immediatly pull it back. Takato had forgotten it was pouring still. Oye. But whoever the other thing was...sounded really scared... Oh heck. Stepping out from his shelter, Takato was immediately drenched. Oh boy. Wiping his fur away from his eyes, Takato squints through the rain, trying to see who he was talking to. "Hello?" he says, quite loudly now.

Not one to ignore the concern of her elders, Dama skittered into the crevice as she was wordlessly told to, cowering within. Rain water dripped off of her shaggy ill-kempt grey coat, her ribs and bones showing badly through the malnurished skin. Shaking of cold, and slightly of fear, she awaited Kitwana's assement on what had alarmed him so.

Peering worldlessly into the inky dark of the dim day, Kitwana leapt from his perch, keen to discover what creatures lurked in the darkness. He already had death hanging over his head, what was there left to fear? At least if he died now, he would die free. Growling, the adolescent shouted into the water-sodden air, tempting the others out. "Show yourselves, noises of the night!"

Badiri stopped suddenly when he heard the booming voice. It sounded scary. What was he to do? The cub stood there a moment, drenched with rain, a mixture of thoughts swirling through his mind. He flinched as a loud clap of thunder roared overhead. And in his moment of terror, a jumble of words came rolling off his tongue. "Pleasedon'thurtme,I'mjustacub!"
