Ariku's mind suddenly jolted. She might have an idea of what was wrong.
"Iy-san, can you tell me what kind of pain you have been feeling and where?" she said to her quietly bending down by her side.

It pained Kioku to know that the other girls didnt quite understand what Iyasu-sama was going through. "If you heard her, it is not your simple illness. Please, Ariku-san, do not worry yourself over it. Iyasu-sama will be fine for the time being." Kioku was a bit angry that the others were worrying themselves, and that the others wanted to speak out so much. Its a curse..just like...mine...

She looked Kioku straight in the eye, "This curse has been on my family since before my great, great grandfather was even thought of. My dear, my gamble is different from your own." Iyasu took in a breath and almost teared up in pain, "We shall speak of this later . . . after class, come to my okiya, the Mizunoyuri okiya, and we shall speak there." She instructed Kioku before turning her attention to Ariku.
She smiled softly to Ariku, the only geisha there besides herself, and answered, "The pain can be rather gripping. Mainly in my abdomen up front. It hurts to breathe at some points, but nothing I can not manage. It does not hurt to twist or bow. Ariku-san, I will be all right . . . once I get home and rest for a little bit, I shall be back and we'll continue on with the lesson. Please, think of another theme for our next song to play." Iyasu did not like people to worry about her. She did not like to cause others greif on her account.

Kioku frowned. "Iyasu-sama. I do not think that I will be able to visit to your okiya. I am merely a maid..and..even with an invitation I would still feel a bit...out of place?" She blushed and looked away. "I have not heard from Nitta-sama in a long while. Is all well with her?"

"Then why are you in my class, little maid?" Iyasu asked harshly. She did not like to be begged for a fool. "As for Nitta-san, she is fine. She is out entertaining some great patrons in the mountains. She'll back soon enough." She paused, "In fact I have some thing for her. I need to head home and rest and I will need some help. Kioku-chan, since you are a maid at Nitta-san's okiya, would you mind helping me back to my okiya and then taking that gift back to your okiya?" The geisha asked the young girl, "I will need the help, Kioku."

She hated to be so harsh, but she did need to speak to the girl. In the long run, if the knowledge she knew, from a said someone, was true she would protect this young lady with all of her might until her death if need be.
She smiled softly, "For your trouble I will see that you have something very good to eat for lunch and something for your dinner, all right?" Iyasu had a gentle soul, but if upset she could be as cold as ice.

Ariku glared quickly to Kioku. She would not allow a maid to speak to her like that. But then she entered the conversation after thinking for a few moments...
"Iyasu-chan, you must see this doctor I know. She comes from a England, she cared for my grandmother when she was ill with something very similar to the simptums you have." she said then paused a moment. "I will tell you sbout it when you are feeling a little better." she smiled.

Kioku still didnt say anything, but only bowed and nodded timidly. She felt the glare from Ariku and gulped quietly. Should she just go ahead and leave the okiya and forget about a future? What kind of a future was in store for her anyway? No matter how hard she thought, it all narrowed down to one thing. She was pathetic. Pathetic and weak. What had she done in her last life to deserve any of this? Did she kill someone that important? Did she kill herself? Inwardly, the girl sighed in defeat.

"An English doctor? Perhaps he might be more knowledgble about this odd illness I have encountered." She looked over to Kioku and smiled, "Shall we be going, Kioku-chan?" Iyasu's tone had softened as she tried to stand up. "Let's head back to my okiya and have some lunch?"

Kioku didnt say anything, but nodded anyway. Her face was impassive and tired as it normally was. She was beginning to feel very weary and faint. She stood, her head lowerd and looking at the floor.

Kioku bowed to Ariku and whispered a quiet 'goodbye' and 'take care of yourself' before waiting for Iyasu to lead the way.

"All right my dears! Are you ready to learn? We're finishing up the shamisen song today and moving onto another one. We're far behind." Iyasu said as she stepped back into her class room, bright and with masked smile of happiness.
