Nagi considered the best way to answer that question, but felt that it needed some back story to it.
"Well the main difference is that most magicians that you know don't really do magic. It is all parlor tricks, smokes and mirrors, you know illusions and stuff. A mage is a true user of magic, either born with the power, or taught by one that can teach it. Now before you ask, witches and wizards, that is just old terminology, for mages. Though truth be told even mage seems a but old fashioned, it is just the easiest way to call us what we are. My full title would be if you must know Magister Magi, Latin for Master Mage, though my special training makes me a combat mage. Anyways, I can explain more later, I think the book we want is here."
Nagi then used his ring, which he was still wearing to make himself levitate and pick the book that he wanted from the top shelf. He made sure it was the right one before doing another shundo to the closest table where he waited for Vanessa to get there.

She blinked heavily as he answered in a very long manner once more, then left it off with he could explain it later. Large explinations, she was already beginning to hate them. How would she get through lectures if she couldn't even put up with Nagi's constant long answers. Seeing him float up to where the book was, she watched him grab it, then disappear once more. Glancing around quickly, her eyes fell on him as he appeared at the table and waited for her, shaking her head. He was definately an interesting person to be around. He kept her on her toes, which was a little of where she didn't want to be. Oh well, she'd put up with it. Moving over to where he was, she sat in a chair across from him, looking to the book. "So you said something about this being able to awaken a power?"

Nagi made himself comfortable as he looked through the book for the proper spell. When Vanessa finally got there he was glad to hear that she remembered some of what he said.
"Yeah there is something like that in here. It won't be much but I doubt you will be interested in the other method. Anyways let me see where the spell is and hope that it can still be read some parts of the book look worn away."
Nagi thumbed through the book until he reached the page where it had the information needed to awaken magical powers. He looked it over and when he was done he sighed, what was in front of him was not what he expected.
"Well this isn't good, apparently a spell for the awakening of power was a rumor. There is still something in here that will do it, but it is a potion. From what I am reading it seems to take three months to make, and some of the ingredients, well lets just say I am not sure they can be found in this school, though I could send for them from my old school. Damn guess this isn't that easy, and I doubt you will be wanting to hear about the other method."

As he spoke, she watched him thumb through the book, watching the pages and words go by as he began to speak. Hearing there was another method, she'd stored it away for the time being, and when he sighed and said that it was a rumor, she gave a soft purse of her lips. Three month? She gave a sigh herself, and then he mentioned the other method once more, now she was going to question. "Why, what's the other method?" She gave a faint tilt of her head, hair falling to the side a bit, brows furrowed faintly.

Nagi closed the book and looked at Vanessa, he wondered how she would react to the information. There were two possible ways, both of which did not seem like a good outcome.
"Well the other method is called a pactio. It is like it sounds, a pact between a mage and another person where they agree to help the mage in exchange for receiving magical power and a magical item. The problem is the method of executing it. There are two ways, one, this is how it began about two thousand years ago, would be to swap about a pint of blood with each other. Of course this was before people learned of different blood types, so the success rate was, well dismal."
Nagi sighed as he thought of the best way to describe the other method. THe best choice was to just say it.
"The second method came around during the medieval age, thought up by a sorceress and the knight that protected her. I think you can guess by now that what they came up with was to use a kiss to seal the pact. This is why I doubt you would be interested in using this method, I mean we just met, and there is still the alternative of just practicing on your own."

As he closed the book, her sky blue eyes moved up to him, gazing at his face faintly before he began to speak. Pints of blood? Egh. The first method didn't sound very healthy, and it was just as she suspected when he said not many succeeded. The other method kind of confused her at first, then disgusted her, then didn't seem so bad. At first she had thought of something else had happened between the sorceress and knight, but it was dismissed as he explained it. Nah, he was right. Neither were acceptable at this point. "Umm... Well.. I think I'll just practice for now." She kind of bit her bottom lip, chewing faintly and looking around the library for a while.

Nagi smiled as she came to the decision that made the most sense. He would have been surprised and maybe even a bit freaked out if she had decided to go through with it. He knew of the risks involved with becoming a participant in a pact, and he felt that she was definitely not ready for that kind of burden.
"Well then now that you have made your choice why don't I get out the book that will be able to help you out. It was left in my care since the friend that it belongs to felt that she did not need it anymore."
Nagi then took out a card that had a picture of a girl with a book and broom on it.
"This is an old pactio card that I made, it is a temporary one with a friend I made when I was ten. It was no biggie, I mean what kind of girl at the age of 15 cares about kissing a ten year old? Anyways "Adeat!""
With the activation the card became a book which he handed to Vanessa.
"Here the book is called Orbis Sensualium Pictus. In short it is a magic encyclopedia. Ask it any magically related question and it will give you the best possible answer. Oh and if you want to make it a card again just say "Abeat" alright?"

She gave a faint nod and looked to the card before it became a book, blinking. Man, he had some good tricks up his sleeve. As the book was handed to her, she took it and gazed over the cover, listening to him talk about what it was called and what it did exactly. Wow, Vanessa was slightly impressed. Hearing the secret word, she stored it away. Adeat. She'd remember that. Giving him a soft smile. Looked like they were done here, so she gave him an even softer one. "Alright. Where do you suppose we go now?"

Nagi thought about what to do next. Vanessa had everything she needed if she wanted to study magic, but it was up to her when to start. Nagi on the other hand wanted to explore more of the school, though he did not know where to start.
"Well I do want to see more of this school, but I am having a hard time deciding where to go. From what I saw walking here there seems to be a few interesting parts to this school. Though how about we head to the student lounge. We passed by a sign saying where it was around here. I would like to go there and relax, plus I feel that it is a good place to talk and I would like to get to know you better. So what do you think?"

Vanessa did have everything she needed, and she didn't want any more, if he had to give it. She already had a lot to learn, if she was going to learn magic before the school year started. Still, she didn't even know if the school taught magic, or even what it taught at all. Oh well, she'd learn it later. Hearing him speak, she nodded. His idea of going to the school lounge was a good idea. "Alright, lets go there then." Keeping the book with her, she headed off to the lounge, hoping he would follow. It seemed she was doing a lot of leading around here.

Suki stared in awe at the building. "It's so big, and there are books everywhere." She added, not even hiding the astonishment in her voice. She looked along the book shelf and took a book. Flipping it open she looked at the words. "Um......these letters are alike to my owns. I can read a bit of it, but the rest makes no sense." She added.

Majan hadn't felt like sleeping so he came to the library to read. He was now standing. With glasses on and what length of his hair tied back, Majan glanced through the book laying open in his palm. He muttered occaionally to both himself and his other side Kile ( Kyle).

Raine walked into the library, gaping in awe at the immense size of it and at how many books there were. Her jaw dropped slightly as she looked through the fiction section. "They have everything!" She yelled, but put her hand over her mouth quickly.

Yukaren entered the library. "Wow..It's big alright!". Yukaren loved to read. She was browsing the shelves when she found what she wanted. Tale of Despereaux and Glint. She had been searching for these in the local library but they were out. "Here, they have like....3 copies of each!" Yukaren whispered. Yukaren went to the library's computer part. She checked the computer listings and saw that 3 other books she wanted were here too. Dragon Moon, Dragon Keeper and Garden of the Purple Dragon. Yukaren found these easily and checked them out. Yukaren left because she didn't want to read in here.
