Darn I just realized I should've made my other post in this topic. *kicks self*

After watching a little of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen I started visualizing Stuart Townsend as the head of the Church of Eternal Life BKA Malcolm. As Dorian Gray (in League) he gives off this air of.. conceit? arrogance? self-righteousness? something that I can never quite put my finger on. It's the same feeling I get from Malcolm.

I'm sure we all know what Stuart Townsend looks like but I'll link an image anyway ;p
User Image

The suit also screams Malcolm to me.

Anita: Selma Hayek-Desperado, Once Upon A Time in Mexico

Jean-Claude: Stuart Townsend-Queen of the Damned

Edward: Brad Pitt-(come on!) Troy

Zane: James Marsters-Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Cherry: Hudson Leick- Callisto on Xena

Can't remember anymore off the top of my head!

smile they are perfect but they would have to make Selma paler. Anita is really pale

I think that just as long as Brad Pitt is Edward then all will be good. I wouldnt mind seeing Alex Lundquist and Marcus Schenkenberg playing Micah and Richard. Eye candy is always a plus. wink

Just googled Alex Lundquist. Yum. Even I'd be capable of liking Micah if he looked like that.

Definitely yes to Brad as Edward.

As for the others, having just looked them both up, I agree.

I just googled Alex Lundquist and Marcus Schenkenberg and came to the realisation that both were models...
And I just don't like Brad Pitt...

So, you want three guys with no acting ability to take up the roles of some of the more important men in Anita's life?

Somehow I'm not surprised by this typical female approach. *shakes head in bemusement*

I can see Mariska Hargitay playing Anita... And yet, something about her still doesn't fit.
Btw, for those that don't know, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002127/

tankbbg; Edward Norton is this guy: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. ((I hope that image works, sorry if it doesn't.))
Or just check this, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001570/

He played in Red Dragoib...He's great.

I dunno I don't think there are great enough actors for the cast in my head *the anita ones eneyways*

That's remarkably sexist and offensive.

For the models, I can sort of agree, but then, the men in the Anita books are all supposed to be great eye candy. For some readers, the proper vision of the character is more important than just making sure they can read the lines well.

And as for Brad Pitt, there's no accounting for taste, I suppose, but I find him to be a very good actor. He's shown himself to be capable of playing a variety of characters, each of whom has their own quirks and qualities. For instance, he pulled off a very believable Achilles in Troy, but at the same time he was positively amazing in Legends of the Fall. His character in Meet Joe Black (characters, I suppose) was very different from both of these, but at the same time very well done. And let's not forget The Mexican...
I'm sorry you feel that he's a poor actor, but don't assume that just because we're sharing our opinions and happen to have chosen people who are generally considered eye candy we have no logic or taste to back it up.

Frankly, I'm surprised at such a stereotypical male response... sweatdrop

Does that mean I can say that Angelina Jolie would make a perfect Anita? No.
It's just that, reading through pretty much every post, Brad Pitt has been mentioned for the role of quite a few characters and, please do correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that he's being picked for any kind of acting ability.
This series of books is more commonly read by women. Therefore, I believe I can quite safely state that any movie that may be made is going to be watched my mostly women. So... It really would be a "typical female approach" to put in eye candy that can't act... Just as it would be a "stereotypical male response" to put in eye candy in any movie that is based off of... oh wait, blokes don't read. My error. xd

But you cannot be seriously thinking that models would make a good portrayel of Jean Claude... For one thing, the model wouldn't be able to pull off the accent... Unless they chose a french model... But even so...

Angelina Jolie is an actress, not a model (though I would have to concede your point about no acting ability). If you think that she really looks the part of Anita, then fine.

As to Brad Pitt, I can't speak for anyone else who picked him, but my personal reasons were a)he can very much LOOK the part, and b)he can very much ACT the part. Most of the choices in this post are based purely on visual concepts, true, but that's basically the only thing we have to go on. Actors are paid to act, so theoretically mannerisms can be learned. It's important that the actor also looks the part. I'm fairly sure that it's because he looks the part that he's chosen, not because he's eye candy.

So... according to your logic, the movie would be watched mostly by women, so obvoiusly the typical female response is to put in 'eye candy that can't act'? sweatdrop I don't follow...
Also, no one is saying anything to the effect that men don't read, so.. what's your point?

And by the way, the models suggested were for the roles of Richard and Micah, not JC. He definitely needs the accent, no arguments there...

Ignoring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt for the moment... Because I'm not doubting that you maybe picking him for any acting ability he may possess...

And, according to my own logic, I was trying to suggest that if the people as a whole were to able to choose who they want in a role for a movie they want to see then they would be picking "eye candy" and that any acting ability would be secondary. Girls and guys alike.
I was defending myself against your claim that I was being "remarkably sexist and offensive"... Which you said a couple of posts back. The guys not reading books thing, well, it kinda fit my defence. *chuckles*

And yeah, well aware that the models were suggested for Micah and Richard... And well... Micah may not have to act if any movie were suggested 'cause even in the books he just stands around acts dumb and does the eye candy bit for the women... But Richard WOULD have to.
But I do believe that people would suggest a model for JC if they could find one that fit him. Acting ability of course being secondary. xd

Quoted for the mere fact that it has "Micah" and "dumb" in the same sentence xd

Alex Lundquist and Marcus Schenkenberg are nice to look at and I'll be the first female to admit that I care nothing about thier acting ability. Why? Because as much as I love the series I'd hate to see a movie thus mostly I pick people to visualize when I'm reading the books. In my mind Marcus can act his little Calvin Klein's off. 47 time Oscar nominee wink

Seriously though, if there was a movie and I had the job as casting director I think going with "nobody"s would be the best bet for most characters. For me personally, not many well known actors and actresses come to mind when I think about the personalities behind some of the main characters. Jean-Claude is a perfect example. I have yet to find anyone who I think could really pull off Master of the City. I'd have to leave the country and hang around some foreign actors.. You know, for research purposes.
