Alexis Of Shadow Dude. I'm willing to bet that the tuxedo was one of the few clothing items he had except for the (most likely pilfered) Red Death costume and stuff. And I never called Raoul a fop. I never called anyone a fop. I have called Raoul a pansy, but mostly that's because 1. I don't like him, and 2. It's a common joke. I'm assuming that, just as I've used the word "pansy" a couple of times to arbitrarilly insult/make fun of Raoul, other people use "fop" not as it's used in the dictionary, but as a general insult because god-knows-who started it. I looked up te word fop. it means 'Vain man overly obbsessed with hair and clothing. it sorta fits him by the meaning......fop........fop.....fop....fop.....its fun too........

How does it fit him? Name one time he ever behaves in a vain manner or obsesses over his hair or clothing.

phantomofthefox How does it fit him? Name one time he ever behaves in a vain manner or obsesses over his hair or clothing. He doesn't, ever -- because of that, I doubt you'll get a coherent answer. The Rogued girl I looked it up right when I heard the word. It can't be helped that Raoul's been labeled as one, come on! (I do wanna know, who did though? I mean first used the term on him) That would be Erik's first major lines in the Andrew Lloyd Webber play, thank you very much. And I quote: "Insolent boy, this slave of fashion." That is what this whole ridiculous fop business comes down to -- Erik calling names because he's intimidated by a good-looking young man. Some phans, intent upon emulating Erik, most obviously took this to heart and started using the word synonymously and indescriminately with other less savory words used to describe people they don't like. Much like Nazi propoganda behavior, I am compelled to add.

Well, it seems that us die-hard Raoul fans have actually done something! Unless I'm wrong, there hasn't been a sadistic f*p-slayer suggestion in, say, two pages now! Yess!
chichirismuse, please stay! Help us defend our dear Vicomte. And fuokohopin, I liked the gist of your Nazi propaganda idea, even if it was a bit harsh. Remember, we R/C people are supposed to be the sane ones...

Remember, we R/C people are supposed to be the sane ones... It's not harsh -- it's true. If anyone has studied Nazi Germany, they're the exact same tactics. I hope it's simply startling enough that people might take a step back and realize what they're doing. Naturally, Raoul-bashing and indescriminate use of 'fop' is no where near as serious as what happened in Germany, it's still the spirit of the thing that is worrisome.

fuokohopin, you're right. It's the spirit of the idea that counts.
*gasp* It seems to me that "101 Ways to Kill Raoul" has become "101 Reasons Why Raoul Rox".
Incidentally, I've got this thread, "An Acutal Serious Discussion About Why It Ended How It Did," or something to that effect. It won't let me post anything, but my intent was to creat a little safe haven for R/C fans. OK, shameless plug over. Vive le Vicomte!

I'm completely impartial about him. To me, he's just another character of the story. I don't bash him, nor idolize him. He's just okay. But if we're talking about the 2004 movie-Raoul... Then be sure that I would bash him endlessly. He was SO annoying. Leroux-Raoul was much, much better... Yeah, anyway, you can't post in that thread because it's locked. D:

Raoul irritates me because he can be really childish and dumb...but I don't loathe him, or bash him other than when there's an Erik vs. Raoul argument going on. I just dislike him, is all. *Shrug*

Which you're more than welcome to do, Alexis. It's just the rabid, 'raoul is teh evols and must diiieee1!!eleventy!' bashers that drive my blood pressure through the roof. Nice analogy, fuokohopin. You're so right. At heart it's all unfounded hatred and persecution of a certain party because of incorrect assumptions. It's on nowhere near the same level, but the idea behind the actions are the same. Takiko-chan Not all Erik fans and E/C supporters are insane/biased/blind/Raoul bashers. No, but can you honestly say they're the majority either?
