Tabi Kat Actually, I have to disagree with you both. It is an equal mixture of both. No amount of ego is going to get you anything but in your own mind if you don't have the skill to back it up. And no amount of skill will get you a win, unless you have the ego to back it up. Otherwise, your opponent will simply keep chipping away at you until you lose to yourself by default. However, if you have the right balance of both, you can be seen as a talented RPer that people will actually want to play with as well as a person who can kick some serious butt, and then you can simply let your actions speak for themselves. And while reveling about how great you are, in your own mind, might be fun, it's far more fun to show those to whom you consider yourself superior, for then they will have the undeniable proof of the fact to live with. When you truely think about it, it's actually more of skill than ego. I know some extremely humble and modest people who would beat me any day, they know it, but they are extremely kind. If you have 50% ego and 50% skill, you aren't getting far. There is, however, yet a third factor, even more of a factor than ego: Intelligence. It helps greatly. Tactical genious. Being able to outwit your opponent, not just out-RP him. As I learned in Chemistry, equilibrium does not mean equal ammounts, it means balance. In my opinion, the equilibrium of a good RPer is about: 45% Intelligence, 45% Skill, and 10% Ego. If you get too much ego, you will lose because you get too cocky and let your guard down. You can't have too much skill.

I consider Intelligence as part of Skill, if that helps clarify matters for you.

When Chemistry meets Rp, it's time for Trei to be afraid...
Btw, I feel that I must share this: Yay, Jobhunting. And taking personality tests...that was a good waste of fourty five minutes...

I will throw out something important.
Cult of Personality. Depending on how others think of you will help determine whether or not you lose. Let's face it, you are not likely to conceed to a guy that has been nothing but a p***k to you; but if someone honestly beats you and you enjoy it you will let it go.

Nihilistic_Impact Yeah, motivation is hard to come by. But for the books it's easy when you find something you like. I've been dabling a lot into military history lately and it's fun to read. Also found myself liking the literary classics more and more so I've collected a few of those as well. Right on. Cousin o' mine is really into that stuff, mostly World War 2. I kinda wanna read the Bible, and some anatomy stuff; just gotta pay off that library fine.
I somehow found a way to owe them like $20.

I've been looking, and looking for books on general tatics, so far I haven't found much. But I did come across a real good book called On Killing. I really recomend it, can help you add a whole new layer of insanity to any combat orientated character.
As for the bible, I've dabbled with that thing off and on for a few years now. Though I haven't read all of it, that's what Skepetics Online Bible is for.

I will have to grab it, it's currently in my trunk... next to the burlap sack...
Wow, also had Freakonomics and The Teutonic Knighs, a Military History in there.
Well any ways, On Killing is authored by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman.

From what I remeber of chem I don't believe that is a combustion as combustions tend to produce 02 and H20. I'm thinking it's more acidic in nature.
Hmm, seems my memory failed me.
