My Master teaches these techniques in self defense classes, briefly but he still stresses how important they are. In normal class situations they are not neede or allowed but whne your not in the class room and dont know a whole slew of MA techniques it could mean the difference between them living and not. So ill have to say yes, it is dirty techniqes but yes they are important and nessesary to know. 3nodding

If someone is actively intent on hurting me... damaging my body, my ability to work, to love my friends and family... I'll rip his p***s off in order to take care of myself. And I'll be laughing everytime I practice, because some athlete will be telling people how he should have won the fight even though I proved my power over his body.

Shadow Deadeye Yeah you have to know techniques that are dirty and ones that aren't ... You look like you enjoy the idea of being a soldier... I have one report from Iraq of a soldier stabbing an attacker 11 times in the face, probably died by the fourth or fifth. Is that a dirty technique? and if not, would it have been if he had tried to bleed the man to death through his croth?

Eye jabs and groin kicks are some of the first things taught Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do students. Biting grapplers is a part of the art. One of the style's nicknames is "scientific street fighting"; It assumes a no rules environment where defeat equals death or serious injury.
That said, these moves are, of course, not used in free sparring. However, we do practice groin kicks and eye jabs in drills, using focus mitts for substitute groins and forehead taps to represent eye poking.
Whether or not I would use these techniques depends on the situation. Lets say a guy in a bar was pissed because I spoke to his girlfriend and decided to try and knock me around a bit. Permanently blinding him, as a first line a of defense, is more then a little excessive. A gentleman with a knife, on the other hand, might not allow me the luxury of restraint.
So, the philosophy is to train so you can use them and then hope you'll never have to.... and then to really use them when the time comes.

When we're taught by instructors throat strikes, hits to the groin, or anything that would be considered fighting dirty, we're taught them for a reason. If i'm taught those strikes then i'm sure as hell gonna use them.
