simlizzy neonibbles It was sad the day they took down the last of the screens. They had the news crews there and everything. It was a big deal because it was the last in Southern California. They had one in Southern California when I was a kid that had 4 whole screens, each faced a different direction and of course, you only had sound for the screen you were facing rolleyes but we thought that was pretty cool nevertheless. I grew up a couple miles from a single screen drive in and as a teenager for school extracurriculer fund raising, we had permission from the manager to wait outside with rags and windex and offer to clean peoples'' windshield for a donation while they waitied to get in and see the movie. I think the movie playing *all* of that summer was "Star Wars" ... back before videos made it so movies were out of the theatre so fast... rofl
Where?????

Where?????I grew up in Simi Valley... the four screen Drive In was in Chatsworth, called Winnetka Drive In I believe. I blame this all on Videos and DVDs rofl I remember certain movies staying in the theatres for a year or so sometimes... of course you are talking to someone who has not lived in California for over 13 years, and graduated highschool in the (very late) 70's

I knew where that one was... I loved drive-ins. The one of choice for me was the La Mirada drive in, in Norwalk.

If you go to www.drive-ins.com they have a pretty interesting site devoted to drive ins. Turns out sometime after my teens Winnetka became a 6 screen theatre amd years after I left California, the Simi Valley Drive In also closed down. I was really impressed with the site, but you need to see it to understand. Especially fun was reading the reader's comments about the Simi Valley Drive In. ninja Also, in Riverside, CA they still have 2 different drive in theatres that are open. They are mentioned on the site, you can search by state, open, closed, etc

Most probably know about this site, but just in case a couple Purkles don't, I want to tell you about IMDB.com
This site has anything you want to know about a movie. If you search an actors name, it will give you a list of all the movies they have been in.
example:Tim Curry's page
I find myself on there when watching animated movies and I recognize a voice but can't think of the name.
I can get lost in there for a long time.

As a matter of fact, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before people will be "imdb-ing" things like they google things now. It's particularly helpful when Kevin and I are having disagreements about what year a specific movie came out or who starred in what! Great sample page btw heart heart heart
