Okay, so the lobster was dead. Great! This was fantastic!.... not that she'd been much help at all.

Trying not to focus on her epic fail, the teenager shoved her glasses up her nose as she tried to listen to what the head honcho was saying. Swimming wasn't her forte, but she was decent.

Against hands and tentacles coming out of the water, though? All the way to the Island in the distance?

Taking a deep breath, she did her best to clear her mind of the doubts creeping up into her thoughts and slipped the goggles they'd gotten and tightened them around her head. Another deep breath and a quick run had her crashing into the freezing water, forcing and pushing herself forward - while glancing back now and again to ensure she spotted her twin was still there.

Since Soleil didn't want her part in the mission to end before it had really begun she was all for Zane's planning to hold back for a moment. Which seemed to be all it would take for the others to bring down the giant golem. It started falling apart, crashing to the beach in small waves that washed over everyone's feet, before draining back into the ocean.

"You'll have to let me down now," she said still, leaning closer to his ear and pasting his shoulder. "It looks like it's time to take a swim." In choppy, golem ridden water, delightful.

"Si vous regardez mon dos, je regarderai le vôtre?" Starting at the waves, the distance, she couldn't deny the shake the sudden wash of nerves.

It was hard to miss Aro's arrival to the battle, but Oliver didn't get a chance to greet his friend until the giant lobster was melting back into the water it came from.

"Y-yeah, I'm okay," he said with a tired smile. He only looked a little nervous, but it was impossible to tell if it was confidence or adrenaline that numbed his jitters. "I'm glad you're here though, it would have been impossible without reinforcements... Ah, y-you should go to the infirmary and get checked out, I'll... I'll let you know when I get back!"

Oliver reluctantly grabbed his gear, and put on a brave face so Aro wouldn't worry about him. It pained him to leave his giant friend, but there were so many hunters on the beach, he was sure Aro would be just fine.


The freckled young man dove into the water and cut a straight path towards the island. He was a strong enough swimmer, kicking free of the tendrils and watery hands was easier to deal with than the sickly feeling creeping into his gut as he got closer. Fighting off that sense of guilt was harder.

He had to admit that watching the lobster golem fall apart was pretty neat, even if it meant a beachside of barely conscious hunters that needed to be whisked away to the infirmary. He was both proud and ashamed that he was not one of them.

But, he was still capable of participating in the other part of the mission which he couldn't have done if he'd passed out. So it was fine.

Totally.

There was a slight flush of freckled cheeks when she whispered into his ear and the smile he gave in return was sheepish. "Yeah, yeah." Somewhat reluctantly he carefully placed the woman on her feet.

Zane looked confused at her question, not understanding the language. "Um, if you said something like let's go together or watch my back, then yeah, yeah. Definitely."

"Hmm? Oh! Oui, yes. That's what I said." The French slipped out at random even at the best of times, but with heightened emotions came a definite spike. She'd have to try to keep it in check, since Zane couldn't speak it. Try. "My sister and I are from Quebec," she'd offer by way of explanation as she started for the water.

"But yes, that's what I said. Swim buddy." Flashing him a grin, she waded in up to her waist, then dove into the surf. It was going to be long, hard swim, but she felt better about it knowing there was someone there looking out for her specifically.

Knowing there would be unseen things grabbing at her, and feeling those things actually grabbing for her, were two very different things. She'd make it to the island, but she was quick to get out of the water, rubbing at her arms to chase away the lingering feeling of hands and not!hands trying to drag her under.

Chris was pushing wet hair from his face and looking around at the island. He'd never been here before, even through all the crazy things that had happened since he'd become a hunter. He saw Cee doing something with her hair but wasn't keen on hanging out with the overly outgoing woman.

Instead he gravitated to the other face he recognized, "Hey Oliver.." The beanpole of a young man once more pushed his wet hair back in an attempt to be sociable, "You okay after that fight?"

This other language thing was pretty attractive, he had to admit but he did his best to ignore it. There were pressing things at hand and he was starting to get that thrill of this is a mission and he was going to kick a**.

Zane was already up and out and ready. Getting him to do the thing was often the hardest part and yet, here he was.

"Cool, cool." He replied with a bob of his head. Goggles were secured over his glasses, because he'd be useless without them, and then he was diving into the water after his companion.

Luckily the fact he stupidly wore pants kept him from feeling the full force of the things grabbing at him but he was still quick to swim and get out, following the long braid of his companion to make sure that they were good. Lerna would be a helpful weapon in the water compared to her scythe.

Didn't seem to matter though, because both survived the swim without too much effort and Zane dragged himself out of the water and shook himself off like a wet dog.

"You should teach me some of that.. was it french? Sometime." He huffed, sprawling out on the sand for a minute to catch his breath.
