After what felt like eight half-hour increments, the elevator finally rallied another attack on Sascha's person. At first, he'd taken the lowered ceilings to be his claustrophobia finally getting the better of him. The rumbling caused him to think twice. The grates emerging from the floor where what finally kicked Sascha into action.

Blessedly, the volunteers working on this section of the elevator had been lazy with their clean-up. Sascha dove for a stray piece of rebar, sliding towards the grate before it could interlock with the rapidly lowering ceiling. He jammed the steel rod between the grate and the ceiling, forcing a gap between the two. It wasn't much, but it was enough for Sascha to worm his way out without tearing too much of himself on the exposed metal.

Once out of immediate danger, Sascha ducked down to look back through the opening. "YO! HURRY IT UP! THIS THING CAN'T HOLD FOREVER!" he barked at Akkira and her lusus. The rebar was already beginning to bow worryingly.

Kolako grinned widely, laughing loudly. "Isn't it awesome?? Thanks!!" She giggled, nodding affirmatively at the blueblood and giving him a thumbs up, following after them. Kolako heard Hemera's words, and honestly, she didn't really understand why Mera was stressing so much. Was Leeroi doing dumb stuff? Seemed like it! She stayed quiet, hearing their conversation eagerly until they arrived at an intersection. Kolako followed another troll through the hole in the wall, beckoning them through the hole.

Rastin, having noticed the shaking of the ceiling before it moved down, gasped sharply and immediately started to panic. He'd picked the wrong direction and gotten himself, and Mahmud, in critical danger! The purpleblood mentally slapped himself a few times before deciding that he had to do something other than shake like a trapped animal.

He raced toward the left side of the hall and began tearing apart the walls and floor below him, only to find that this method led to some nasty shocks to his hands. The teenager recoiled, looked up to the ceiling, and toward the grids. Then, he saw a large enough hole ripped in between the grids, and he turned back to Mahmud and Harpommy with a wave.

"Hurry! This way!" He called, pointing frantically toward the hole. "We'll have to squeeze through quickly, so be careful but fast on your feet!"

Leeroi rolled his eyes. Of course the kid would know it was a joke. Come on, give her some credit. Even the babies on this planet were smarter than that. He sneered, turning away from Hemera, stuffing his one good hand in his pocket.

Then he got a horrible idea, because he didn't know when to quit and he knew it. Twisting his one good hand across his body, he started to mime a makeout. Even with one arm out of commission he faked till he made it, even pulling up his shirt a touch.

Then Hemera turned to ask him a question, and panic shot through him, though he covered it. "Nothing," He responded slyly, spinning around to face her. Realizing that wasn't an answer to her question, he quickly backpedaled. "Horribly. But I'm surviving, aren't I?" Leeroi smirked, quirking an eyebrow.

Forera had been rushing through the halls normally when suddenly the ceiling and the floor felt a lot closer than they should've been. Forera would know-- She wasn't that tall! She glanced at her team with wide eyes, mouth gaping. "s**t, s**t, s**t, MOVE!" She exclaimed, rushing toward the grill and managing to swiftly slide out. Seeing a spare pipe on the ground, the tealblood managed to lodge it between the floor and the lowering ceiling, watching it stop right before it crushed some of her mates. She peeped through the hole with a grin. "Move yer butts, slowpokes!" She couldn't help but feel a little smug.

Her cool look went to a frown, then a scowl. Hemera stormed over. "Could you very well knock it off? I have had it up to here with being mocked." Between Leeroi, Chiara, and Eridia, she was done. "Is this all a game for you?" she asked with a shove. "For my entire life you have written me off, forgotten my name, treated me as less than a person. Then suddenly you want to make nice. And then within, what, a couple of nights? You go back to mocking me again, relentlessly, when I try to work with you. I'm tired of trying, time and time again, just for you to make me feel like utter garbage. I don't know what your angle is, but I am sick of the mixed signals. Get that figured out. I have to get back and help keep this entire place from going down with everyone in it."

With that, she started running back the way they came. "Kolako, let's go! We can't sacrifice anymore time!" She looked up, noticing something off. The ceiling. It was coming down...no...the entire hall was starting to shrink! "We need to move!"

But they wouldn't be fast enough-!

She pulled out her boomerang. Channeling her frustration, Hemera started tearing the area apart, trying to find something, anything, that might work like Koko's switch. All she got from it was more grief. Desperate, she forced herself through a hole, the same she had seen Kolako just go through. A tight fit- Mera wasn't a a small child anymore, that was for sure.

As they continued on, the ladder definitely looked less...put together. A bit shoddy. Not done yet indeed. Luxara wasn't here to judge, though, as long as the ground was solid under their feet. But, from the view, they were definitely climbing high up. Hella cardio!

"Mmkay, shouldn't be far now."

After a few more steps, something felt off. It was Forera who hit the nail on the head. They needed to go, because that wrongness was getting worse! The area was getting smaller and smaller, like it was going to shrink until they were too big for it! Not good! Luxara picked up her pace.

A grill popped up, and Luxara immediately tried to break through it. After shaking and shoving, it started to give.

What the hell was up with all these grills? Cerpin glared at the path before them, clearly agitated from the time limit ticking down. He had been stressed out during the events of the swamp that fateful night Kursha had betrayed the Initiative but at least he hadn't been racing the clock that time. This was wearing on him mentally and he hoped it wasn't starting to show in front of Tevini. He needed to be her rock. And it looked like they were utterly alone in this part of the building. She had to be freaking out.

"Get out of the way, you pieces of s**t!" It was too much. Aggression took over and he tore at one of the ceiling panels, ripping it down further with an angry frenzied look in his eyes. Violence was always something he tried to avoid around Tevini but it had been taught to him from a young age. Highbloods were allowed and encouraged to be dominant. It was how he'd learned to handle problems when they proved to be too much. Hands clawed at and shredded the innards of the ceiling until his biscuit calmed.

"S-sorry. I just... let's go." He looked away from her, embarrassed by his outburst. She probably thought he was either frightening or childish and he couldn't bear another fight degrading him as useless right now.

To be honest, Tevini didn't notice the walls closing in on them until Cerpin did. She was in such a paranoid mania that it felt normal to her. The walls were closing in all the way here. As the purpleblood went into a frenzy on the ceiling panel, she jumped and watched in awe. Then a glint of something mechanical caught her attention and the girl pulled out a screwdriver and climbed up after him. His violence had uncovered some of the mechanics that might give them a way out of here! Quickly, she got to work at dismantling part of it while Cerpin shook the thing in rage. As the grill fell to the floor, she let out a sigh of relief. See? Together they could do anything!

"It's okay." The crazy look on his face had been a little frightening but the thought of being without him was even more so.

Caiden grinned at Etsali and Forera. He was trying to be a big troll, one that wouldn't get tired just because it felt like they had been in this building for hours. The boy heaved his heavy metal fire extinguisher back over his shoulder and tried to add some pep to his steps. Caiden looked down at the weapon, and frowned a little sadly. This was not a good weapon the boy realized. Maybe he should have listened to his father and gotten something a little... lighter. They had to find an exit, or a control room someday, right? The orangeblood was confident the other older members of his party knew what they were doing.

He almost didn't notice the ceiling's descent. Poe was a pretty short kid, and even his lusus wasn't that tall. Lanata rushed forward, and Poe tried to catch up as the bars started to close in on him. He grabbed at the bars in front of him and started shaking as hard as he could, panicking that he could get stuck and left behind. Just as he was about to lose hope he could fit, the bar broke and he tripped forward. Poe's boot was caught, and no matter how he tugged he couldn't free his foot. With a grimace he untied his laces and slipped out, sacrificing his nice boot for freedom. When he caught up with the rest of his group he let Lanata press up against him while he searched for Forera.

Leeroi was dumbfounded. For a moment, he blinked, simply watching Mera as her anger unraveled. As it continued, Leeroi slowly started to realize he didn't deserve this treatment. His mouth curled into a toothy snarl. He was just as frustrated as she was, and she couldn't even tell how difficult she always acted around him. Acting like she was better than him somehow, and not even having the blood color to back it up. She was upset? Good. So was he.

"Well maybe if you stopped talking down to me like I'm a ******** idiot who doesn't deseeerve your company, then maybe I'd show some compassion!" He yelled, pacing to the back of his temporary cage. Rolling up his sleeve, he readied a charging stance. Without so much of a pause, he ran, knocking down the grills in his path.

Not even pausing to dust himself off, he kept running down the hall, trying to make up for the lost time that was so precious to Hemera for whatever reason.

Morrimom was done with this place. In fact, she was done with basically everything mechanical ever. She started tearing at the ceilings and walls in a vain attempt to escape, only managing to get herself trapped in zapping electrical wires. Engrav covered his head with his hands and howled as his lusus screeched wildly, ripping at the offending cords and hurting herself in the process. He could see it in her eyes. She blamed him for this.
