Girlfriend. Right. Considering it was probably Shiva on the other end, the idea made Mercy chuckle. And dishonesty... Delorna had no idea. Although she assumed the succubus was referring to last night. Hm, should Mercy tell Claire about that? That thought hadn't even crossed her mind. In fact, she was pretty certain she hadn't factored Claire into any of her late-night decisions last night. Whoops. Mercy realized then that she might have some damage control to do, with herself just as much as with Claire, if she wanted to make things work. "Pretty sure you're not in a position to play the role of morals police, Delorna," she said coolly. But she sent a quick text to Claire, anyway, inviting her out tomorrow.
"Wait, the Mona Lisa isn't a man... is she?" she said, frowning, having just registered what Riko said. To be fair, Mercy hadn't gone to art school. "No. She's a strong, androgynous woman, who defies today's norms of what beauty looks like." Looking suddenly very determined, Mercy jumped to her feet. "Find the best props you can get your hands on for Elle's photoshoot, and we'll meet back here in five minutes. GO!" And with that, she ran.

 "Ohhhhh," Riko sounded when Mercy took a little shot at Delorna, but she cut her teasing a little short when Delorna shot her a look. She'd rather not get punched again, she felt she would have to suplex Delorna if the woman did put her hands on her again. "It is believed that Delorna... I mean Mona Lisa, could be a man, but no proof. But do you really want to take that chance?" Riko asked, Mercy didn't offer an answer, instead she jumped up and launched into the prop hunt leaving Riko to watch her go shaking her head. She turned to Delorna. "Get items from my room for me?" Riko asked, she would get up and go herself, but she had Elle in her lap. "Like what?" Delorna asked raising a brow. Riko thought to herself for a moment, before shrugging with a smirk on her face "Surprise me."

Mercy spent less time searching for props than she did wondering how she was going to answer Shiva's demand. How was she going to show that Riko wasn't a threat? It would be so much easier to just tell Riko what was going on. They could work together, develop an effective, fool-proof plan. But Mercy wasn't sure that was an option. Shiva was watching them. She had to be. And if she spotted Mercy telling Riko about the con... They were done for. Unless she could find someplace she knew was safe and hidden from prying eyes.
But wait. If Shiva was definitely watching, what about last night?
Mercy face-palmed. Well, s**t.
When Delorna ran past her carrying a small armful of assorted items, Mercy realized it was time to go. She pulled together the nearest interesting items--a few colored scarves, a pillow with Angelina Jolie's face on it, and an eraser in the likeness of a piece of salmon nigiri--and trotted down the stairs. Just in time to find Delorna dumping a pile of underwear at Riko's feet.
"Have fun," Delorna said, saluting Riko sarcastically as she strode the catwalk out of the living room.
"You guys are really not getting along today, huh?" Mercy observed, blinking, as she settled into the seat beside Riko.

Riko looked from the pile of underwear, to Delorna's salute and exit, to Mercy who was left looking like she had just been put into a bit of a weird spot. And customarily Riko just shrugged it off as if she couldn't give two ******** at all about what had just transpired. That was just how Riko was she didn't give stuff like this a second thought, Delorna would get over it. "I don't think we ever get along exceptionally well. She's just less irritating when she's doing other things with her mouth that aren't talking." Riko snorted. She looked at the pile of her underwear, mostly shorts, and thongs, and snorted. She had just washed many of these. "What's it too ya anyway?" Riko asked suddenly turning it on Mercy raising a brow, however she thought better of interrogating the girl after a moment and let it go just as quickly as she brought it up, leaning her head back with an exasperated sigh, she shrugged her shoulders once more and dropped it. "Right, photoshoot." Riko said forcing enthusiasm into her voice, she looked over at the props that Mercy had brought down and raised a brow to that but otherwise kept her comments to herself. "D'you even have a camera?"

As Mercy prepared to nonchalantly defend her interest in Riko and Delorna's relationship, it struck her. That was how she was going to show Shiva that she had Riko "under control"--by asking Riko to kick Delorna out. Mercy didn't exactly like her idea. In fact, it made her uncomfortable. As much as she disliked Delorna, living with her wasn't the absolute worst. It wouldn't be fair to get her involved, especially not like this. But Mercy couldn't think of any other option.
"I was just going to use my phone," she said, shrugging. "I have a camera... but I need to look for it." Mercy chuckled sheepishly and began arranging the scarves so that they swirled and created interesting patterns. The pillow was placed in the center, flipped around so Angelina Jolie's face was replaced by a neutral, solid fabric. Mercy then took Elle from Riko's arms. "Hello again, a stór." As she began to set Elle up, she asked Riko, "Do you have any baby pictures?" Or maybe photos had been before Riko's time.

"Hmmm, that works." Riko said thoughtfully in regards to Mercy's using her phone for the photoshoot, she had a micro 4/3rds camera in her room but she didn't feel like walking up there to get it, and besides this would just a few photos it wasn't like they wouldn't end up doing more and more of these. Riko stood and stretched idly when Mercy took Elle off her hands, she exaggerated it a bit pretending that Elle had been really heavy but that was very obviously not the case being that Riko was a bit stronger than the normal human of her size. She watched Mercy set the girl up as she sat back down again, not really paying attention until Mercy spoke up to her, asking if she had any old personal pictures. Riko shrugged at that. "In my day, camera's weren't such an easy accessible thing. But the few pics of myself from back then, are laying around somewhere.... in a dump, because I threw em all away." Riko joked.

(Sorry for the delay! I've been sick for the past week and a half, and it's been leaving me drained.)
Mercy was half curious, half stalling while she figured out how she was going to get Riko to throw out Delorna. "Why would you do that?" she asked, left brow raising as she looked at Riko. "Didn't you want anything to remind you of that time? Of where you came from?" She finished setting Elle up and took a step back to admire her work. Elle was gurgling and reaching toward Mercy, flexing her fingers. As had become normal, the baby's smile was contagious, and Mercy soon found herself grinning. She began preparing her phone for the photo. "I guess I don't have that much from when I was a kid... no more than normal, anyway," she said. "But then again, I'm not going to live as long as you."

"Why? I unno, it was just getting kind of weird looking at em, and then looking at myself in the mirror and seeing the same person." Riko said with a shrug. "After a while it started to feel like there was this me." Riko said putting her hand over her chest. "And a fake me, and it just got to a point where I needed to stop it." Riko said, leaning back in her seat. "Anyway, you know me, I'm not the sentimental type, don't get attached to much, and never really care about anything, so losing a few pictures was no big deal to me." Riko said looking over at Elle. "I doubt the little one will share my mindset though, so its good to create memories for her."

Riko and fake Riko. Mercy supposed she could understand that. It would be weird to pick up a picture from ten or twenty years ago and still see the same girl in the mirror. "Memories for us," Mercy corrected with a chuckle as she snapped a few more pictures. "I'm pretty sure Elle's not going to remember any of this... that's probably for the best."
Mercy kept sneaking glances at Riko as she shot photos of Elle from various angles. "There's gotta be something you care about, though. Right?" she said. "Elle's one. That's a given. And after her would come... money. It's money, isn't it."

"Us" Riko repeated after Mercy's correction, she supposed the girl was right, this was a memory that she too could hold onto, she had plenty of them if she were to be honest, but these sort of words were not ones that she used very often. She just didn't talk like this. Such things as feelings and memories, and what she cared about, it was all too mushy for Riko. She tended to avoid them like the plague. "I care about my home." Riko said, with a shrug, that much was true. She did like to keep this place as sacred as possible she had been living here for years, and she would be damned if she was miserable within these walls. "I suppose I also care about you guys to a certain extent...." She added, because she felt she should. "And yes, I do care about money."

It was pretty obvious Riko had mentioned Mercy and Delorna only because she felt like she should, so Mercy rolled her eyes in response and didn't think much of it. She had been right about the money, though. Externally, Mercy looked unphased, but internally, she pumped the air with an invisible fist, proud of herself for finally getting something about Riko right.
And then here it was. This was her chance. If this was the only way she could prove to Shiva that she had Riko "under control," then she needed to do it now, before suspicions grew, before the pack tried to snatch Elle again. "Hey, speaking of our home... I'm beginning to wonder if it might be getting too crowded." Ugh, Mercy already didn't like this. She distracted herself by repositioning Elle to take more photos.

"Too crowded?" Riko asked, not really paying attention as she moves over to help Elle sit back up, the girl had moved around a little bit, and it was making Riko a little nervous she didn't want the girl to fall over and hurt herself, not while under her supervision, that wouldn't help her feel more confident as a mother at all. "Are you thinking of moving out or something? Because I'lll tell ya, I don't think that will make this partnership any easier." (VaChina)

"What? No, no." Mercy fervently shook her head. She watched as Riko held onto Elle and was a little offended she didn't trust Mercy to watch the baby closely enough, but the werewolf let it slide. They were all pretty protective of Elle now. Setting her phone down, Mercy took Elle from Riko's grip and held her on her lap. "I was thinking... Maybe we should suggest to Delorna that she move out. Or--well, you should suggest it. Because she's not going to listen to me." Mercy paused a moment to let her proposition sink in, to gauge Riko's reaction. "I mean, Elle's going to fuss for many more nights to come. And you heard Delorna. She doesn't like her beauty rest to be interrupted."

"Uh huh...." Riko said with Mercy spoke about asking Delorna to leave. Uh huh was all that Riko responded with, she gave no other vocalization of how she felt about that idea. She was quiet for a long moment. As though she were letting what she had just heard run over in her brain slowly. "How about this," Riko stated slowly, raising a finger. "In favor of trying to keep this friendship that were are developing here from crumbling like it did the other day." Riko stated giving Mercy a hard look. "I will, for your sake forget that you said that." Riko offered crossing her arms. "Fair enough?"

Mercy stopped bouncing Elle and narrowed her eyes at Riko. She had been expecting a number of reactions, but this wasn't one of them. Riko seemed really upset by Mercy's suggestion. Well, in a Riko sort of way. "What do you care? You don't even like Delorna that much," Mercy said, slightly annoyed. "And it's not like she won't be available for a quick ******** when you want her. During the day, you won't even have to wait until I'm at work because you can just go to her house." s**t. If Riko didn't give in, Mercy didn't know how the hell she was going to prove to Shiva that she had the vampire "under control." Mercy didn't have much to work with; Riko was stubborn and independent, and, in reality, Mercy had zero influence on her. Zip. Zilch. None. How was she supposed to convince Shiva that this living arrangement was going to work when she didn't have the kind of evidence the werewolves were looking for?
