- Lafayette blinked and watched Mel curiously as she came over to give her opinion on what he’d found, head tilting a little as she did. He wasn’t much for fancy but she didn’t seem entirely enthused that he’d found something so quickly. Or maybe that was his imagination. When she remarked about him trying it on he gave a little nod.
"Eh… sure. I can do tha’." He remarked, looking the suit over a moment before glancing around to try and locate a dressing room. He spotted one off towards the back of the section, gesturing with a jerk of his head as he looked back to Mel. "I’ll give it a go. You can keep lookin’ though… see if ya notice anythin’ bettah? It’s your gala aftah all." Mel didn’t really seem like the fancy making type but maybe there were other suits she’d have though better suited for this event. He didn’t know. He just wanted to be comfortable.
With that he headed back towards the dressing room to change and try on the suit to make sure it fit and all. It was a bit awkward really, getting himself stripped out of all the stuff he was wearing. Tool belt, hat, shirt, and undershirt… goodness he had a lot of clothes on. How in the world had he been freezing up in Snowpoint? Oh well, who cared. His mind wandered a bit to the event and what it was all about. He really… should ask Mel about it when this suit business was done. Or before hand.

Mel smiled, trying not to let it grow too much in amusement. Lafayette certainly didn't seem excited to be trying on suits... so perhaps it was better that he just found something. At least he seemed pretty easy going about it all, though. She nodded, moving so he could go over to the changing room, running a hand back through her hair. "Don' worry, I'm sure that'll be fine. S'not like it's got a strict dress code, it's just... formal," she elaborated, giving a reassuring wave of her hand, "Honestly, s'long as it's a suit, and you're comfortable, I'm not really too worried." Disappointed, maybe, but she recovered fast.
Despite her words, she absently cruised the racks while she made her way back to the counter. Honestly, she was more concerned about the party itself. What would they do there? Make small talk? Maybe Lafayette would just be interested in the food, and she could try and handle her mother without having to worry about them interacting too much. She shook the thoughts off as she reached the counter to ask the cashier if they had any suits to rent. Of course, not too surprisingly, they did. Their supply was a little diminished due to the event, but they had a few styles in stock, and her Option Senses went off at the opportunity. She perked up, paused, and then quickly turned and jogged back towards the changing room. "Did the suit fit?" she asked as she approached, slowing, "I asked and they don't have that exact one for rent, but they have some others. If that one fit, or even if not, I could use it as a reference and see what we can get, if you want."

- "Al’igh’ then…,” Lafayette murmured as he disappeared into the dressing room. If he just needed to be formal then well, so be it. He could pull that off easy enough. Once he’d managed to get the majority of his regular clothes off and haphazardly tossed them into a pile in the corner of the dressing room. By the time Mel came back to check on him, he had a majority of the suit on. Which was mostly the pants and the dress shirt. There was a vest as well which he wasn’t entirely sure about putting on when Mel came back.
He popped open the door and peeked out to greet her, the tux jacket in one hand as he stepped out proper. "Mmm it’s al’igh’. Not to snug or anythin’." Lafayette remarked, taking the moment to try the jacket on. It fit well enough which was good and he tugged a bit at the cuffs to adjust them. "Yeh, it’s ace sheila. Good fit’n all." He focused on her once more, quirking an eyebrow as she remarked that they didn’t quite have this suit available for renting. A confused look crossed his face as his brow furrowed, but eventually he gave a curt nod. "Shame… but al’igh’ then. This one’s a good’un. You wan’ me ta pull it off so ya can use it?”" She had mention needing a point of reference or something so she could probably find one that fit him and was available. Already he had one foot back in the door of the changing room, ready to yoink it off as needed.

Mel stopped as she waited for Lafayette to either come out or answer, crossing her arms over her chest as she waited. She raised her eyebrows a bit as he appeared, rather than just stepping out, and smirked some as he put on the jacket as well, even going so far as to tug at the cuffs. "You're a real corker, aren't you," she mused, though it was a low tone, mostly to herself though not hidden from him. She straightened up a bit, dropping her arms. "You look good," she added more definitively. She gave an involved shrug and a tilt of her head, before placing a hand on her hip and offering a smirk with a gesture. "If you don't want me pawin' 'round for the tags ta try and read your size, probably. Or you can just call out the measurements from the changing room, honestly. So long as I have an estimate, I'm fairly sure I can find something that'll do," she determined with confidence. She could already guess his sizes, honestly, but she'd rather be safe than sorry. She didn't want to embarrass them both, or waste their time, guessing wrong, and having him have to try on different sizes or outfits.

- Lafayette just gave Mel a grin, though an eyebrow did raise in curiosity as he heard her call him a … corker was it? His grin changed to a bit more of a cheeky one at that, chuckling at the thought. Well that wasn’t something he heard all that often, but it was a nice enough compliment all the same. At least, the definition he knew made it a compliment. He did sort of note that Mel herself seemed to have a bit of an accent herself, though he couldn’t quite place it.
"A’ make due sheila." He remarked. He waited patiently as she looked him over and gave her approval, though quirked an eyebrow as she mentioned needing his measurements and such. He could look at the tags himself yes but… uhm. Well, there was just a bit of an issue there that he really didn’t quite feel getting into.
"Yeh can take a squizz if yah wan’." He remarked, ushering to the clothes. He’d rather let her do it and get the right measurements then stumble his way through his words and fail to get it right. Mel nodded absently as he mentioned he would make due, already mulling over some options. She lifted her head and her expression blanked briefly, though, as he used some bit of slang. Suizz...? ... Squeeze? Squeeze... what... She blinked a few more times, then quickly shook her head, absently lifting a hand up to brush her fingers lightly through her short hair, looking off to the side with her eyebrows raised. That expression quickly flattened to a deadpan as she heard Zygarde rumble something nearby, and she knew he was giving his own little comment on her thoughts. Ignoring him, she re-centered her focus on Lafayette, folding her arms over her chest as she waited for him to get her the size information. He took off the coat, but, rather than going straight into the changing room, paused to offer her to just... 'take a peek [for herself]'. A slightly thin, wry smile crossed her face at the wording, but she dropped her arms as she paused to consider it.
Honestly, it felt a bit awkward. They didn't even really know each other, after all. But, it would be a lot faster, and she could be professional. "Al... right," she agreed, giving a nod. Yes, she could definitely be professional. She strode over, reaching up to check the tag on Lafayette's shirt, then pulled back, swiftly checking the tags of his trousers, and then moving away, flashing a smile and snatching the coat up. "I'll go ahead and take this, and see what I can find," she decided, moving off to go talk to the clerk again. She was pretty sure she could find something similar to what Lafayette had tried on... but she could also look into finding something else, too...

- Lafayette just watched as Mel seemed to mull over his words, noting the rather quick changes of expression she went through. Had he said something odd? She had mentioned taking a look at the measurements and he was giving her the go ahead, mostly because that wasn’t something he wanted to do.
Eventually though she seemed to recover from whatever shock she was going through and came over to check. He held still so she could get the task done, hardly looking bothered or concerned as she went checking the tags for the proper measurements.
"No worries mate. Ya’ take ya’ time if ya need it." He remarked, stepping back inside the changing room to swap out of his clothing. "I’ll wait in here while ya do." Lafayette called over the door as he went about once more undressing. If she needed him to try something else, it was probably best to just prepare for such. The store probably wouldn’t appreciate him wandering around in his underwear so… probably best to stay put for a minute or so, right?

Well, Lafayette sure was a... chill fellow. He didn't seem at all bothered having her check his tags, and come to think of it, he hadn't seemed all that flustered by their literal run in when they first met. Maybe he was just easy going? She gave him a quirked smile in response, trying not to show any amusement at just how lackadaisical his attitude seemed to be, and nodded. "Alright, sounds good," she agreed, turning to head back to the front area. She talked with the cashier for a bit, looking through a few suits and mulling over the options. Tempted as she was to get the blue velvet, she couldn't take it seriously, and she wasn't sure Lafayette would appreciate it, either. She ended up getting one much like the one he had, except with a bow tie, and a high-button up shirt. She paid for the rental, before heading back towards the changing room. "Got you something~" she rang as she trooped back, a light spring in her step. She wasn't being... peppy, just.... light. "Hope it fits. The get together doesn't start for another hour or so, so if you'd like to go get ready and meet up somewhere..." She still needed to get ready herself, after all. And she should... probably check on Brian....

Speaking of Brian, he was frowning down at the suit Mel had got for him, that he was now forced to wear. He muttered something incoherent and tugged at his sleeve, then the tie. He didn't even really know how to do this thing... he just sort of wrapped it around itself until it looked about right. He suddenly perked up, growing still, apparently listening to something, which made Lucy lift herself a bit too. Whatever it was, though, either wasn't audible to her, or didn't stand out. Brian frowned, then looked back at them. "Seriously, where are my clothes, Lucy?" he asked, then gestured to himself, "I'm dressed in this stupid monkey suit, so could you please show me where they are?" He gave her an exasperated look, his shoulders slumping, but his posture got even worse when she just rolled her eyes at him.
"PLEASE! I'm really uncomfortable in these!" he begged. Lucy paused, frowning a bit in uncertainty. She could hear Phia give a scoff beside her, but ignored it, swayed by Brian's pleading look. He really did seem uncomfortable.... She looked over at Blue, but the goldeen wasn't looking her way, and Kiwi was still... staring at the wall. She sighed, which, apparently, Brian took as a sign of resignation and cooperation, which it might as well have been. He perked up, grinning, and quickly ran over, scooping her up in his arms in a hug. "Thank you, Lucy! If Mel asks, I'll tell her I found them myself!" he promised, beaming. Lucy squeaked and tensed as she was hugged, hurriedly swishing her tail away so she didn't accidentally set Brian aflame. At least he was... in good spirits, now. That might change once he found out where his clothes were, though....

- Lafayette opened the door a bit and peeked out, half back into his underclothing at least but still rather down dressed should he have needed to try anything else on. He quirked a curious eyebrow as he took a gander at the suit option that Mel brought him, noting the subtle differences compared to the one he’d originally tried on. He could handle them, it was just good to note.
"A’igh’ then shelia. Looks like a real beaut." He remarked, reaching out and taking it from her. He looked it he held it up by the hanger to get a look, before looking back at Mel and considering a moment. An hour to kill? Did he want to wear a suit for that long? Not really. It wasn’t unlikely that he’d ruin it before then. "Don’ worreh ‘bout it. Don’ want ta go messin’ it up before then. I’ll keep it safe bef’ah the rage. " He replied. That was the best option. Hanging it on a hook next to the door, he stepped back into the dressing room and got himself dressed back up, stepping out once he was done with only his tool belt left to be reattached. He tugged his back on his hat back on his head, eyeing Mel a moment before tugging the suit off and slinging it over his shoulder.
"So, you wantin’ ta meet up then before this parteh? Said it was down… where again?" He’d was totally spacing on where she’d said this party was going on at, if she had even mentioned it all. Maybe he could get his team set up to go off and do some training during the time that he was off at this party, assuming there wasn’t anything else that Mel needed of him between now and then. It was worth checking he supposed, but she seemed proper happy with all that was going on. -

Lucy dropped back down once Brian let her go, reaching up to take his hand and guide him out towards the hallway. Blue and Phia briefly exchanged an incidental side look, before turning their attention elsewhere. They had only just started down the hallway when Lucy stopped, blinking curiously as she spotted a group of snickering boys at the tail end of ushering something into one of the other rooms. Brian stopped behind her, narrowing his eyes a bit, before rolling his eyes and slumping a bit. "Oh geeze..." he muttered. Lucy looked curiously up at him, head tilted to the side. Before she could even start to ask -- not that the question would necessarily be understood -- there was a scream, joined by several others, that emanated from the room.
Lucy blinked, her eyes growing wide, while Brian quickly stepped out of the way as several girls bolted out and raced past them. Lucy turned her head from side to side as they ran around her, then pivoted to watch them go, before looking up at Brian. He looked a mix of terrified, paralyzed, and surprised-- but, he recovered fairly fast, shaking his head a bit, and rubbing his arms as he peeled himself away from the wall. She was pretty sure his heart had stopped at some point in that. Shaking her head a bit, she started towards the room, and Brian, frowning in confusion, moved to follow her. "What are you doing..." he muttered, furrowing his brow a bit as she continued towards the now open-door of the room the girls had left from. She hadn't... she hadn't hid his clothes in there, had she....?

Mel gave a modest, but happy smile as Lafayette gave the suit his approval. It wasn't so much that she was worried -- because, again, the guy seemed very laid back about this whole thing -- but she was glad that it was good enough to get a positive review. Or maybe he was just being polite. Either way, she nodded a bit, looking at him curiously as he promised to keep it safe 'before the rage'. She hoped that was just slang for party or get together.... She didn't want him expecting some wild rave or something. "Right... No worries," she murmured absently, a bit caught up in her thoughts.
She shook it off as he mentioned meeting up, giving a more affirmative tip of her head, and flashing a broader smile. "Sounds good. I've still got to get ready. It's over in the aquarium," she informed him, jabbing her thumb back over her shoulder, "So we can just meet outside it in an hour and a half or so? Does that sound good?" She paused, thinking a moment. "... Do you plan to bring your pokemon with you, by the way? I don't think it matters either way," she added, looking at him consideringly. Mostly, she was just wondering whether to bring her own, or leave them with Brian. She'd probably at least bring a few, maybe Blue, Lucy... probably not Z, given his size, but... she wasn't quite sure.

- Lafayette watched Mel curiously, noting that she seemed temporarily lost in her thoughts. He quirked an eyebrow and nodded as she further explained the situation, such as her own need to get ready –that was a given obviously- as well as that it was at the Aquarium. Right, he’d caught a glimpse of that sign with all the water-type looking pokemon plastered all over it. He could figure out where that was.
"A’igh’ then…," He nodded in confirmation to the meet up time. Yes, that was plenty of time to get himself situated and find something for his team to do during the little party stint. At the question if he intended to bring his pokemon with him though, his eyebrows rose. "Oh? Nah mate… not realleh." Lafayette responded, head tilting curiously.
"Was probableh goin’ ta set them off ta find some blues. Why ya askin’? Should’a bring one?" She said it didn’t matter either way, right? He supposed it was a good idea to keep one or two around just in case… but the rest could certainly afford to go off and get some extra training in. -

Mel nodded a bit, then smiled at Lafayette's questions. "Honestly it's entirely up to you, Lafayette," she replied, "I may see if I can let some of my pokemon enjoy the aquarium, especially my water type, but I don't... really know how everything is going to go, so if you'd rather let your pokemon be free somewhere else, or think they'd be happier that way..." She shrugged. "Anyway, if meeting up in an hour and a half sounds good, I've got to go check on... Well, my pokemon, and a few other things. Did you want to exchange contact information just in case, or should we just try and find each other when it's about time?" she asked, starting towards the door. She could probably find him if she needed, and she certainly wasn't going to force contact information on him. This was all a very... strange situation, so just about everything went out the window.
