His long hair had finally dried enough to be carried by the wind and was coming out of the low, loose band with which Shizuka had cinched his hair. He grinned outright at Enju, who seemed near to falling off the pier with anticipation. "Thank you, I enjoy my work a great deal..."
Shizuka stooped beside the bulkhead where the boat was tied and his nimble fingers quickly had the rope unknotted and he held the boat's bow up to the wooden pier. He looked up at Enju and motioned toward the boat. "Your boat, sir?" he grinned and followed up with, "I'll hold it here while you climb in and then join you."

Enju's ears were pricked up as he hopped into the boat, a single beating of his swings letting him easily drop onto a seat inside the boat. He waited patiently, tapping his toes on the boat floor.
He peered over the side carefully, not wanting to rock the boat, and looked into the water. A few small minnows were swimming around the boat, that easily amused grin coming to his face. Enju's loose kimono top billowed around him, his mess of charcoal hair returning to its naturally messy state.

Shizuka grinned as Enju hopped into the boat. HE himself was ready to get the boat voyage under way. With a brisk laugh, he pushed the boat out onto the water and quickly jumped onto the bow. The boat glided out farther and farther onto the river. Shi nimbly walked to the other side of the boat and grabbed a paddle.
The sinews in Shi's upper arms flexed as he paddled the small boat downstream. "Here we go..." he said excitedly. The river seemed calm enough where the two Gehaka were, but what lay downstream was an entirely different matter.
"Well, so far so good. No leaks, it seems," Shi said with a smiled. "I've not been so lucky before. The boats often stay afloat when there's no one in them, but after a while if one paddles it out into the river and puts the smallest amount of weight in it, it sinks like a rock. I've been stranded in the water several times. Looked foolish swimming back... paddling with my wings and such under the water..."

Enju cautiously held onto the sides of the seat as Shi pushed the boat off the dock. He was nervous but in a good way, wondering if he moved even the slightest bit the boat would tip over. He couldn't quite remember the last time he was on a boat or if he had even ever been on one. Enju's porcelain skin was tinted the lightest of pinks.
That was often what happened to him when he was in such warm weather, but he'd never burned fully. Herbs and other menial medicines had gave him healthy skin that simply blushed in the sun. Enju never did mind heat, which wasn't a good thing since white skin like his burned easily. His midnight hair had finally settled and dried from it's soaked state, now a comely sight to look at.
Enju couldn't seem to rid himself of his grin as they moved down the stream. "Wow, you've sunk before," he asked, a nervous but amused laugh escaping him at the thought of an unhappy and drenched Shi trudging out of the river. He chuckled and looked around the boat, seeing it was whole and still afloat. "Well, even if it does sink I would've still have had a good few seconds in this beautiful boat."

Shi noticed the pink blush on Enju's skin and became concerned. Shi often burned and had started taking herbal supplements to make his skin more UV-tolerant. He often carried some of the herbs in his pants, but seeing as how they'd been dragged into the water... yeah, no use now.
"Erm... yes.. sunk before..." He now blushed even darker than Enju and remarked. "Yeah. That was once or twice... my mother beat me until I couldn't stand... luckily none of the hits broke skin so he didn't have to bleed all over the place. The boats were very expensive just normall, but the exquisitely carved ones were even moreso." He winced a bit, remembering how he hadn't been able to walk and had had several bruises; perhaps it had contributed to his almost perfected art.
"If you'd like we can visit a beach nearby... there are some beautiful shells there..." he offered, trying to take his mind off of the painful memories.

Enju ruffled his hair and continued glimpsing over the side before listening intently to Shi. His ears dropped back as Shi told him about the effect of sinking the boats. He opened his mouth to apologize but paused, eyes narrowing slightly in annoyance. He seemed to be over taken by some sort of anger, slowly building up at the thought of this friendly and caring Gehaka to be beaten so brutally for something he had no control over.
Instead he nodded, giving a slight huffing noise in understanding. Sure he understood about getting beatings and the cruel things that often happened to his kind. He had an excuse for his beatings, his father not the most sane of people and his mother a slightly cruel calculating being. Enju glanced at Shi quickly before returning his stare to the water. "Er, you..you don't get beaten anymore do you," he asked weakly, looking at Shi out of the corner of his eye, ears inclined towards him and rigid.
For some reason, he felt that if he did, he'd have a very negative reaction. After all, he wasn't the most sane person either, even if he was kind and loving. Of course, he didn't think he was a little over reactive of things. Only protective of those he cared about.

Taini walked steady along the river, wood and knife in hand. He was working on what would be the arm to Tsukiko's chair at the table he was also working on at home. The basic form had been cut, and he would smooth it out later on top. The sides however, were begining to show the detail and care Taini was putting into it. It mirrored the waves he walked beside. A soft tune hummed could be heard to those nearby.

Kratos was walking against the riverbank. On his back was a basket filled with plants. He was still lookign for the right herbs his mother needed for his shop. His ears perked up when he heard humming and spotted the blonde gehaka. Hn, that was the one that would be wed to his brother. He then turned his atentino back to his work though.

Taini continued working on the waves, but he stopped, feeling as if some one was nearby. He looked up and saw Tsukiko's brother there.
"Hey Kratos!" He called out, a smile on his face. He wondered what the other gehaka was doing, collecting herbs... but it could be for anything to Taini's knowledge.

Kratos looked at the other and grunted. The least he wanted was to get noticed or bothered. "yes? Od you need anything of me? I am busy right now. My mother would be displeased with me if I dont' bring him the herbs he needs quick enough." He asked the other.

Rude little bugger, wasn't he? Taini frowned slightly, and rolled his eyes. "Fine, whatever. I was just trying to be nice, we will be related sooner or later..." He said the last part more to himself, grumbled as he continued to carve.

Kratos turned his atention to his work again. He really could care less. "it doesn't matter if we're going to be related or not. I'm not really fond of Tsukiko anyway. That haka is just a nuisance" He said, his eyes were cold and hostile.

Taini stopped, his own eyes were narrowed. The knife he had in his hand was flipped, then put back into it's pouch. It wasn't a fighting knife, but the sword on the other side was, despite its poor sheath.
"Kratos, do not disrespect Tsukiko-san in front of me. If you ask me, you're the bad end of the gene pool in your family." It was said through a snarl. Six days. Six days until the wedding, and here he was, snapping at the half brother.

"it doesn't matter either way. There's nothing you can do about it. Tsukiko has an odd way of looking at things, but maybe that's because I dropped him on the head to many times, hoping that one time that pretty little skull of his cracked...do not ask me for my reasons, but that haka would be better off not living" Kratos said to the other.

Well, that settled that. Taini placed the wood down with the belt that held his carving things and his sword. He would not use it agaisnt Kratos. "Put down your things." The blue eyes bore into the other, it was a challenge.
