"How would you determine who owned one sibling's property in the event of sudden demise though? I mean excluding the obvious solution of a will, it would seem to come down to the ancient rite of "I saw it first" yes? " He shrugged. "Then again, i'm an only child so i've never had such dilemmas."

"Well you don't give it away to a total stranger who just crushed the owner of the property, especially not without asking first! Didn't even read a will, no, just 'here I'll take these and I don't care if you wanted them, you have enough stuff, I'll give them away and who cares about your feelings,'" Gryff spat. "You're lucky you're an only child. Siblings are awful."
While Lin ran off to the house to get a pot, Gryff opened the Just in Case of Emergency No Really tins. Condensed milk, course coffin grounds and sticks of cinnamoan. It wasn't perfect but it would have to do.

"Are they really THAT bad?" He watched Gryff, bemused by the anger. He glanced at the tins. "Why the emergency rations?" did anyone really want to drink condensed milk unless they had to?

Then Lin came hurrying back into the circle of boos, holding aloft an old fashioned coffin perculator. He shook it excitedly at Gryff and looked at Kai.
"GRYFF!!! Look at what Kai had in his kitchen! Totally retro!"

"Scareful with that!" Kai was halfway to his feet as Lin traipsed back to the fire. "That was my Cryptmas gift to my dad last year. He's, uh...he's really absent-minded." Kai backed off as the percolator made it into Gryff's claws. Gryff would take good care of it, so long as it afforded him precious coffin bean goodness.
"My dad spends hours and hours in his lab, so he'd put a pot of coffee, er, coffin on the coffin-maker and leave it till it boiled away and threatened to start a fire. So I got him this so he could just make coffee over the bunsen burners in his lab."
Kai took his seat back next to Ronan.
"And I wanted to ask you...are you okay, brutha? I've been seeing sour faces from you all night. Is something wrong? I wouldn't be a good host if I didn't try to make it right, you know?"

As Lin handed over the percolator and, the the shock of many, Gryff smiled. Dashner was so surprised he dropped his next martionmallow into the fire, where it smoldered among the remains of the first.
Gryff filled the pot with Putridgrine water, put the grounds in the proper compartment and set it on the fire. As the water boiled, he busied himself with the condensed milk, adding a few packets of single-sourced cruelty-free honey, some cardamoan, cloves...a bevy of mysterious packets. The scent of fresh coffin begain to waft around the camp.
Using a nearby slipper as a mitt (Rory was happy to lend it in the interests of safety), Gryff pulled the pot off the flame, removed the grounds and dumped the condensed milk-spice mixture inside the pot.
He pulled two collapsible mugs off his bag and poured himself and Lin drinks. One said "real monsters ride fixies" on the side, the other he handed the gremlin read "Engineering: like math but louder." In each he dropped a stick of cinnemoan.
"Chai coffee, anyone?"

Ronan nodded.
"It's been a long day."
That much was evident from the exhaustion in his face and the spattered engine grease that flatly refused to wash out. He half smiled.
"Thank you."
While initially he'd wanted little more than to leave, he was slowly warming to the crowd. Annoyances aside, it was, he had to admit, nice to have some company.
He glanced to Gryff and shook his head. "No thank you, you uh.. enjoy that... " The concoction did smell amazing though.

"Well that's cool." Kai eased up. He was glad to see Ronan at least trying to relax a bit. He'd been worried the Selkie wasn't having any fun at all. Kai decided to venture a little further at Ronan. "Would you be up to telling the next story, then? You have to have some great tales from the great white North, right?"

No sooner did Gryff ask than he got his answer as Glen practically (literally) floated over toward him, inhaling the scent deeply with a dreamy expression on his face.

"I uh.. i'm not sure... " He looked uncomfortable, clearly being in the spotlight didn't suit him at all. He looked around at the expectant faces (well, some expectant faces, others seemed distracted by coffee and/or martianmellows) then back to Kai. "W... what sort of a story?"

There was a light tap on Kai's shoulder. He turned around to find Shad all up in his personal space as the Sackboo whispered."Hey, I heard about some creepover traditions in the normie world. If he.." (points at Ronan) "...falls asleep first, do we have to freeze his underwear?"

"Sure, I'll try some. We're so obz going to stay up all night, and it smells frighteous even from here, bro," Nero told Gryff, holding out a mug.
Gryff has just finished pouring for Glen and was about to reach for Nero's mug but recoiled at the last word. The muscles around his jaw tensed and stood out. Nero just smiled amicably. There appeared to be some sort of inner struggle going on, but finally, though gritted teeth he began to pour.
"Of. Course. Would you. Like. A cinnamoan stick."
Nero waved him off, "nah, I'm just gonna put a martianmallow it in."
Gryff made a little strangled sound but otherwise said nothing.

Ronan Aalto "W... what sort of a story?" Kai ruminated on this. "Well, here's the thing. And I hope I don't sound rude here, but...I don't know anything about you!" He paused, and when it was evident Ronan wasn't going to be offended by this, Kai explained himself."All the guys here, you know, they've been around monsters, BEEN monsters their whole lives. So, as a recent monster-convert, sometimes I'm finding the learning curve sorta steep. I can't tell you how many times the things I thought I knew about monsters were completely wrong once I actually MET one. So, for my own selfish sake, what I'd like to hear about most is your family. What's a selkie family like? Tell us about your folks. There's gotta be a story there, right?"

Ronan frowned deeply. "I'm..not sure that's such a good idea... " He glanced around again, but Kai's insistence was difficult to refuse. He nodded hesitantly.
"I.. alright.. but then you should explain how you ended up a monster."
Kai kept mentioning how he wasn't always a monster and Ronan had to admit, he was intensely curious about that. Was he bitten by a radioactive kitten or something? Or had Ronan just been reading too many comics?
"Deal?"

"Deal." Kai held out a claw to shake on it. He then turned to Shad with a bit of a wink.
"Usually we'd do that to the first boo to nod off, but....the power's out in the freezer, brutha."
