Becka was even more happy when Bereck put his good arm around her and hugged her back, she'd been worried, for a second, that he'd be too uncomfortable with her showing him affection publicly.
She smiled and pulled away when he spoke, a light grin twitching on her face "Does he spy on my often?" she asked with a giggle, she couldn't help it, especially when Alina was giggling away. "It's the best ting i've ever gotten Bereck! Thank you so much"

As J'nes departed Ingar looked back at I'saak, looking first thoughtful and then almost furtive. "Listen," he said, lowering his voice, "I oughtn't to do this really, takes me below cost... but I'd like to sell one of these to somebody who knows what's gone into them. You're one of the weyrlings aren't you? Well... I suppose you can consider this a late Impression congratulations then, and all my best for the future. Two marks to you, but don't go spreading it around!"
I'saak - Ingar's Stall 2 7/8 marks
At Ingar's words, I'saak's mouth dropped open, and he blinked mutely, completely incapable of working out a response. "I - Faranth, Master Smith - thank you." The disbelief was writ in every line of his body as he reached into his pocket and drew out a handful of quarter-mark pieces to hand over to the man. "Shards, I can't thank you enough, Sir," he added, the look of disbelief spreading slowly into a grin. "It'll be well-cared-for, I promise. I'll take this one, with the garnets," he added, gesturing with the dagger still in his hand. "Thank you again, Sir." He was stumbling over his words in excitement, all but quivering with mixed happiness and disbelief.
Carefully, he slipped the knife into a pocket, un-tucking his tunic so it covered the hilt and looking around for C'ross.

V'lay - T'ni's stall 4 3/4 marks
Wine was on V'lay's mind as he moved through the stalls, but a flash of vibrant orange caught his eye, and the bluerider turned his head, tracking the color to a small potted bush at a stall full of plants. His eyebrows went up at that, and he strolled nonchalantly in T'ni's direction, stopping at the booth and perusing its wares. It had been a while since he had done any actual plant-hunting; there had been the hurricane, and the missions, his imprisonment, recovery, Threadfall...Faranth, he hadn't gone out digging samples in what felt like turns. And here were rows of potted beauties for him to peruse.
His attention turned to the tree, and he glanced up at T'ni with interest. All in green, with blackrider's knots. A woman on a freak, yes, but a woman on a freak with miniature trees. He would put aside just about all differences (short of her being a Wherholder) when faced with the beautiful flowering bush and the tiny tree. "Hello," he said quietly, giving T'ni a genuine smile. "Everything's absolutely lovely. How old is the tree?"
"I remember playing with some. I had a doll named Missy, though," She smiled a little, following his gaze to the dragons. The mention of the toy made her nostalgic, eyes somewhat distant as she remembered. "She had pigtails and a pink dress. Malvren has her now." Rochelle huffed a laugh and leaned in closer to him, her head tilted back to grin.
"You going to throw again? Maybe we could snag some bags and toys and flutes. Not, y'know, an ocarina--" She stuck out her tongue and wiggled it halfheartedly before continuing. "But musical and everything. Oh - and, actually, would you be irritated if I became one of those significant others and dragged you to look at clothes?" She didn't have many anymore. Most, if not all, of her old clothes were sitting pretty at a tailor, waiting to be altered.
"Oh yeah," C'tis nodded, vaguely remembering the little tuber-girl's toy. ...Tuber girl. He'd forgotten he'd thought of her as that. Probably best not mentioned. "I think I'll stick with my ten points," he added, "and I can tolerate some level of clothes shopping so long as I get to stand behind you and look at your arse." Sounded like a fair deal to him.
"I'll take one of the flutes," he decided aloud, "I'll want to try them all out first." With no argument from the stallkeeper he did so, and soon picked out the one that sounded nicest to his ear. "And ah... oh, two bags of sweets." He smiled at Rochelle. "One each, right?"

A new wandering vendor has arrived!
Apprentice Farmer Haley - A young girl of about 15 Turns with a woven basket of flowers carefully hung from one arm. She has tanned skin and light brown, sun-bleached hair pulled into two French braids. Her coy demeanor and friendly brown eyes and smile help to enhance her open and overly-familiar calls for men (and women) to buy their lucky someone a flower.
White and Red Roses - 3/4 Mark An assortment of white and red roses in various states of barely open bud and full bloom. Each rose has been freshly cut and still bears the blooming color found at the height of the flower's beauty.
Three available: Pink Roses - 3/4 Mark A small smattering of pink roses hides amidst the red and white, a unique offering for a lucky few.
Ribbon - 1/32 Mark Add a ribbon to the stem of your flower to make it an extra-special purchase for that lucky girl or boy. Available colors: red, white, blue, pink, and purple.
"You're welcome boy, take care of yourself. And remember what I said!" The smith pressed his lips together, miming buttoning them closed. If he gave away deals like that every day he'd be destitute in no time!

V'lay - T'ni's stall4 3/4 marks
"Oh hello there!" T'ni beamed and drifted over to her potential customer like some kind of gawky and yet somehow graceful perfumed bird. "I'm glad you think so! If we'd had more notice I could have got more stock in so I'm glad you like what you see! The tree is... oh yes, this one is seven turns old now. I've been cultivating it for the last six months, isn't it a little beauty? It's a Western Inkleaf from the Western continent. Not very imaginative with names, whoever discovered it!"

M'lan kind of liked it when Tanya blushed, especially when he was the cause, he liked to make her happy. "Good throw!" he said when she made the toss, grinning at her.
When she'd taken her turn he stepped forwards to take his turn, while he didn't want to really out-do Tanya, he wanted to win the firelizard egg for her, and he wanted to impress her.
Well.. that wasn't as good as her toss but it was still a fairly good throw, or so he thought. "You can use my points too, if it's allowed Tanya, I was trying for the egg for you but ..." he made a mock crestfallen face "I failed!" He was being overly dramatic, hopefully in an amusing way. He was too pleased that Tanya had even agreed to come to the gather WITH him to really be bothered about trivial things. He turned to the stallholder and asked "Hey, do you think i could team up with Tanya here and let her use some of my points to get one of those cuddly firelizards?..............If the lady wants to" he added quickly, realising he was being a little too pushy.
4 + 1/2 marks left
The stallholder knit his bushy eyebrows and made a 'hummm' noise deep in his throat. Eventually he shrugged. "Well alright, I don't see a problem with that if it's for the little lady. You want to, love?"

Rochelle - Ring Toss stall 14 points yay!
"You're a pig," Rochelle retorted to his offer of a 'deal'. Despite the small sharp elbow into his arm again, she leaned in with a short nod. "Sounds good! You were late so I tossed once or twice before you got your lazy self here. Fourteen!"
C'tis tested his little flutes and Rochelle leaned over the table to study the bits. She snagged one of the black leather side bags and a pair of simple wooden cups in the meantime, the grain smooth under her fingers. "Ooh, sweets? yes, please. Annnndddd..." Shell earrings were next then the toy most like the one she could remember the angry boy carrying about with him - blue, of course, and blocky. Rochelle tossed it into the leather bag as well before she straightened. "The flute sounds nice. Now you have no excuse not to play except 'I don't want to'."

Bereck - Near the stalls
"He likes you," Bereck replied with a slight shrug, shifting his weight and looking up at the faint dot overhead he knew to be the silver flitt. "And you're welcome," he looked back down; he wasn't smiling anymore but the set of his mouth retained a certain softness. "You can take it to the stall it came from any time during the gather to arrange for a proper fitting," he added, "they'll adjust it for free for you.... Excuse me a minute."

Bereck had spotted the girl with the basked of roses and he moved over to her at a purposeful limp. "One of your roses please girl and... yes, a blue ribbon. How much will that be?"
"That'll be 3/4 mark for the rose and a 1/32 for the ribbon, love," Hayley replied without so much as a blink for the term of affection she used. With a swift movement she had detached a blue ribbon from the bundle tied to the handle of the basket. She smiled and tilted her head coquettishly at Bereck.
"What color do y' fancy? Romantic red? Pink? A pure white for your lovely friend?"

Bereck - near the stalls
Love? Bereck gave the girl a bemused frown, he wasn't sure how to deal with being called love by a fifteen year old stranger. He chose to deal with it in the end by ignoring it, just for expediency's sake.
"Red," he said after a moment, frown fading and a small smile tugging up one corner of his mouth a fraction. "Definitely red. The deepest own you have in there." This wasn't exactly covert, Alina could see him quite plainly, but he supposed that didn't matter too much really.
Giving the youngster a whole mark didn't seem fair, she probably didn't have much of a float, so he made change with a /32, a half, and two eighths, passing the wooden coins over without quibble.
Haley took a moment to shift her roses around a bit, checking those underneath, and surfaced with a half-open deep crimson blossom. She tied the ribbon neatly about the stem, made a bow, and exchanged the blossom for his marks. She came up with change-- the Farmercraft Hall had sent her with all of her Marks in small denominations in the event of change-making-- and passed it over to him.
"Thank you for your patronage!" Haley gave Bereck a wink and then turned and strode down the gaming row, voice lifted to carry to those nearby. "Roses for sale! Buy a blossom for a friend or a gift for a lover! Boyfriend, girlfriend, no one needs be shy! Roooooses for saaaaale!"

Bereck - near the stalls
With rose in hand Bereck turned around and moved back over to Alina. Stopping in front of her he raised the blossom to his nose and took a moment to enjoy its scent before holding it out to his weyrmate with a soft warm smile. "For you, my star."

Alina
Becka recovered quickly from the tears. The effect of youth, perhaps? Alina couldn't remember being able to bounce from one to the other quite that quickly though she did recall being a rather odd child. That could be part of it. Bereck distracted her, though, walking off towards someone with... flowers. Blond eyebrows hitched, her giggles fading to a slight, pleased smile. The starcrafter waited where he left her, the little box held carefully at her middle.
"And it has a ribbon?" Her smile widened, tucking the box against an elbow to reach out and take the flower. Neither one of them were much for public displays of affection besides a kiss hello or goodbye, holding hands - maybe. Alina leaned in and kissed his cheek anyway. After the brief kiss, she tilted her head to whisper into his ear, gentle, private. "Thank you, dear. It's perfect."

Adi - Y'or's Stall 6 2 1/4 marks
Adi pursed her lips together, eyed the patterns on the harness, and petted that nice soft fur a little more as she thought about it. Not only was it pretty, it was useful, unlike most of the pretty things she usually fell for. And if she took good care of it, it would last! 'Practical' was not often a descriptor that could be applied to the bluerider, but even she could see that this was a better idea than spending all her marks on games or food like she usually did.
And Maz would be happy! How much better a present for her dragon could she possibly find? There weren't a lot of dragon-suitable presents in general, really. "Okay, okay," she caved, flashing another bright smile. "I'll take it!"
Of course Kiril was attending the Gather. He didn’t know much about weyrlife as of yet, being a new arrival and still a bit overwhelmed by everything. He gathered that a wingsecond was something important, and yet instead of a solemn funeral there was going to be a celebration. What did one wear to a gather in memory of a fallen dragonrider? What would be expected as appropriate behavior?
He dithered over the question for a sufficient length of time that he nearly missed the speeches at the beginning, ultimately lingering at the back of the crowd as the new wingsecond took the stage. And once that solemn business was over, it seemed that the weyrfolk got down to partying. Games, food, things to buy… He wandered through the bustling crowds with a few marks in his pocket, quietly observing.
The sweet trills of firelizards reached his ears and Kiril gravitated towards them immediately. He was fond of firelizards, of course, and on top of that he had need of an egg – was someone selling one, perhaps? But no, the young man he discovered wasn’t a flit salesman, but a fellow Harper, if the music was anything to go by. And his firelizards were… singing along with him?
“You can teach firelizards to sing?” Kiril inquired eagerly, stepping forward slightly to get a better look at Piper and Echo. Then a beat later he realized his mistake and withdrew, abashed and apologetic. “Sorry – I didn’t mean to interrupt.”

Idris – PC Weavers Stall – 7 & 3/4 Marks
Idris accepted N’mol’s handshake with a steady grip, although not so firm it might be mistaken for a challenge. She smiled briefly at the Wingleader and the Weyrwoman; while Idris might not be effusively friendly as some riders were, she didn’t see the point in being discourteous to anyone. Especially riders in charge whom she would have to deal with on a regular basis. “Thank you for the kind words. I certainly intend to live up to them – although hopefully we will have some respite before the next Threadfall over Trine.”
Turning back to Kaylen’s wares, she lightly touched the soft scarf again, rubbing the fabric between her fingers. “I am ashamed to admit that I don’t own anything in Dauntless indigo – something I only just discovered today. This was the closest I had,” she said, indicating the dark blue tunic she wore with a slightly abashed incline of the head. “I intend to remedy that as soon as possible. Just a solid color would be best, I think – how much for that?”

C’ross – Smith’s Stall – 2 & 11/16 Marks
After some consideration, C’ross picked up a black firelizard toy and a bag of candy. There weren’t too many of the small prizes that interested him – no jewelry or musical instruments or marbles for him, thanks – and the firelizards were at least unique. Gathers were a special case in regards to stuffed toys: you could carry a stuffed toy around a Gather and everyone would immediately understand that you’d happened to win it at one of the games of chance. It wasn’t quite as ridiculous as walking around with a new set of pretty shell earrings, at least.
It took him a while to catch up to I’saak again – he had no idea where K’yne had vanished off to, but I’saak at least was predictable, and thus easy to find. As expected, the smith was over by Mastersmith Ingar’s stall. No doubt admiring the same handsome daggers that C’ross had been pining over…
But they were out of a weyrling’s price range, even if he hadn’t blown a handful of fraction-mark pieces on silly games. Not that C’ross regretted it. If he ended up winning that firelizard egg it would be the best sixteenth-mark he’d ever spent, and he hadn’t blown nearly as much on the seemingly addictive ring toss as some of his fellow weyrlings. Still, he cast a slightly wistful look at the beautifully crafted work before turning a friendly smile to I’saak.
