Genesis listened to what Nephi had to say about armor and nodded her head. "It does not sound safe... but it will be difficult to pass off as naive to the situation if dressed in full armour," Genesis agreed. She thought for a moment on whether or not her team should ditch their armour as well, it seemed more likely to her that they would encounter trouble at the cave.

"Thank you Lailah," Genesis felt reassured with the other joining her, Lailah's particular set of skills would be more helpful in whatever they might encounter at the cave. "Harveer, would you join us as well?" She asked of him. "I think we should try to move around this group of pae that you scouted out earlier, see if we can get behind them once they are distracted. If there is a cave, it has to be somewhere nearby along this mountainside. It should not be difficult to find now." Genesis started moving in a direction that would give them a wide sweep around the pae that had seemed to gather nearby.

Coronus had been silent thinking to her self how this sight had been similar to ones in other universe. This one did have the go away aura that she had felt with other ones but most of the time the sight had not been so populated although as she watched they were leaving. One of the first ones to run off was that crazy Angel Sunny Jones she was never one for fighting she thought. She then heard Celestia call out her name so she looked around and saw the princess. She looked around and noticed the only fairy there was a teen and looked like she was supposed to be here.
She listened to the Faun who looked important she did not know much about Fauns only that they were an ancient race and not to messed with. Coronus unesseness grew as she realized something If this was here then they could be also.. Oh s**t. She ran over to Princess Celestia and the others. "We really need to leave like now before they come." Coronus was nervous she had not delt with this group in this universe before but all her previous encounters had taught her was not to get mixed up with them.

Eligor nodded at Alethea's input. "Perhaps...though, maybe just being prepared for anything as explorers. How many caves are there in this area do you suppose? It is a mountain," he mused, glancing up towards the rocky formation that climbed so high that it disappeared into the clouds.

Shaking his head to clear thoughts of the geological trivia that had started running through instead, Eligor turned back to the group. "Okay, so Nephi, Alethea, and me, then? I think that's good. Any more, and we'll immediately tip off their suspicions. We'll go ahead to distract them, give us about five minutes, then the rest of you should be able to slip around the side to the cave. We should be close enough, if anything goes wrong, to call for help." With a nod to the group, Eligor set off in the direction of the lingering heretics, his mind turning quickly.

"Alright, lost travelers, even explorers, new to the area," he whispered to his companions. "Just play along and we'll all be okay." He aimed a reassuring smile at his fellow Squires, then whispered, "Guardians be with us," with a solemn nod and a quick prayer.

Hearing some voices up ahead, he raised his own to louder-than-normal volume as if calling back over his shoulder at Nephi, "I could have sworn the Falls were this way, though! This forest is so thick, we could be about to walk right into the lake for all I know!"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 14, 2013 8:47 pm

To Eligor's, "Guardians be with us," Nephi replied with a soft,

"May the Guardians be with us all."

Nephi was not necessarily the greatest actor, but he had become a skilled liar, perhaps partially from wanting to get out of having to be laid up so much. He pretended to feel better than he was, and when he did wander off and came back, he pretended that he had not been gone in the first place. Lies were just fancy little stories, really, meant to disguise the truth underneath, and that is why they worked best when interwove with just enough truth to make the lie seem plausible.

The lie, or the act, that they were adventuring and trying to find the lake was not completely false. They were certainly adventuring, and they were certainly attempting to find something, but it was not the lake, and they were certainly not at all lost. Nevertheless, there was just enough truth in the lie for Nephi to get comfortable, and he was able to fall right into the act that Eligor presented.

"It very obviously is not!" snapped the demon in turn, looking around wildly as if trying to locate any sign of water. "Do you see any water in this vicinity? No! Of course not! Because we're nowhere near the lake!" That was enough anger for now. Yelling any more might draw some suspicion on their ruse. The less talking someone did while lying, the better, because the more talking, the more words there were to poke holes into, and the harder it was to keep things straight later on.

While he spoke, he kept his ears open, catching the heretics' voices. One of them, what appeared to be a golden fae, was remarking on leaving before "they" came. Who were they? Did she know something was coming?

Immediately suspicious, Nephi decided to move in the direction of the young woman, offering a softer, "Perhaps they know a way," in the direction of his two so-called traveling companions.

And so, he approached.

"Ma'am, if I may ask, who is coming?" He knit his brows, directing his words to the golden fae. "We stumbled upon here by accident," he shot a glare over his shoulder in the direction of his fellow demon, "but if there is someone coming, can someone point us to the lake?"

Two questions down at once. He was good.

... Hopefully.

"Yes, I agree," the princess replied to Earthmother before looking around. Already, it seemed that most of the pae whom had been here were moving themselves away; well, that made things easier, didn't it? If everyone was already leaving, all that would be left to go is themselves.

Celestia gave a somewhat sheepish grin to Ignatius, as if she was trying to say she was sorry for her ignorance of the types of pae found on the island. She was still fairly new and was really only familiar with the main breeds. "A shetani...? Oh...!" As he extended his wings, she was interested with how different they looked compared to all those that she had seen so far. "So this is what a shetani is..." she smiled. "I believe that I shall remember you." As she finished this, she heard another voice, a louder one. Oh dear, she hadn't even noticed this guy, and like the shetani, she had no idea what kind he was. Unfortunately, she didn't have time to ask before he and Kane left.

Almost immedietly thereafter, Thara appeared. Turning to look at the new fae, her words immediately brought suspicions to the princess's mind. Now there were two different pae, at least one of very high status, telling her and the others here to leave at once. Who said she was trying to be a hero, or that a hero might be needed? Earthmother's statement only raised her suspicions; surely someone whom had lived for so long and had had the magic to call to her and the faunies from such a distance had far more power than a measly teenager. But why would she presumably lie, unless...

The two of them were hiding something.

Or, at least Celestia had a reason to believe that they were... There was almost a tinge of guilt at the thought, and she knew that it wasn't something that she could actually say, but it did make her feel more uncomfortable about the situation. It had to be something big if Earthmother was trying to cover it up. Shooting her sister a glance, hoping to share with her the suspicions she felt by doing so, the princess decided best to just go along with it all. Pausing a moment to let the elder pae take the lead, she took a few steps after before hearing Coronus.

Looking to her and stopping her movement, she tilted her head. "Coronus, what exactly happened in the other worlds to frighten you so...? Who...?" Celestia couldn't finish her question before another angel appeared, asking the same thing.

What a coincidence...

Gypsy got up closer to the noise and noticed the cave that all the noise was being made about and settled behind a bush near by keeping a watchful eye on the place, curious as to what was going on and why, this was just some random cave wasn't it? Why would so many be interested in such a place?

Pelagious's jaw dropped open. He was asking the fish lady if she was okay?!?! Was this demon serious??? "ARE YOU SERIOUS?" he shouted. "Of course she's fine. She's got my shovel, don't she?" He was pouting. This was ridiculous. The people coming to save him had turned their attention to the one's driving him insane. This wasn't fair!

Ignoring Pelagious's outburst, for it seemed to be the way he was, she pointed at one of the vials. "The one that dulls the pain. I would be...." she paused to think of the right word. "Uncomfortable sleeping in the forest with so many people running around." she explained, trying not to raise alarm. What fish lady and nymph boy were doing was none of her business and she intended to keep it that way.

The red demon's wings twitched as the heretic turned to her. She looked so lost and pathetic that Katya's resolve once again faltered, but she reminded herself that she was here on a mission for the Guardians, and even if she weren't- their holy graces were only for their chosen people- the angels and demons, and chief amongst them the believers.

Her comrades were on the move. The mission was underway, and she could spare no aid for this creature. "If you have no business here," She began, "Then you had best leave. I can direct you to a well-frequented waterfall some miles north, but it will take you the best part of the day to reach there. If you do not make it that far, then it must simply be the Guardians' will." Hesitant to leave on such a cold note, she turned and looked the faun in the eye. "If you get close enough, just follow the roar of the waterfall." With that, she scrambled after her party, just in time to hear their plans.

A few weeks ago, Katya would have probably shed her armour and joined the others trying to distract the assembled heretics nearby, but recent events where she'd been left to fight underequipped (with disastrous results) caused her to decide to keep all her combat gear and weaponry. That, and IF any of the heretics by the cave had seen her on her initial scouting run, their ruse would be blown fairly quick.

She would have voiced which group she intended to travel with, but Eligor split the group before she had a chance to say anything. She watched Eligor, Alethea and Nephi begin to draw the attention of the heretics, and quietly prayed that their diversion would work. She kept her eye on Lailah, figuring the stealthy blood angel would know best regarding when the infiltration team should make their move.

Infiltration. That's exactly what it was. This mission was straying from 'reconnaissance' to 'espionage'. Deception. The thought made Katya uncomfortable but she knew that some moral lines would have to be crossed to enforce the Guardians' will. That was both their right and responsibility as squires. After all, mere moments ago she was prepared to bury a couple of arrows into the heads of potentially hostile pae, even when they hadn't acted in violence first.

She reached back under her wings, not to draw her bow but just to feel it there, reassuring herself that no matter what happened this time, she would be prepared for it.

Takeko cringed at the outburst, otherwise trying to ignore the nymph to keep her mind on her 'patient'. While far from a definitive test, the question of cures had been an inquisition of sorts. Going by her answer and the way she carefully phrased it, Takeko nodded understandingly to the leaf-winged female and put the other vial away. Something definitely wasn't right here.

"Of course; much too noisy out here today to be sleeping," she answered with a lighthearted tone and a smile. "Now, this might hurt a bit, but it'll be better afterwards, I promise. Perhaps, you could rest here on the ground while we take care of your ankle?" she suggested. "Just make yourself comfortable."

She waited, then uncorked the vial and began rubbing the salve into the injured ankle with care, hovering over the young woman as her temporary 'caretaker'. In a quiet voice, masked by the nearby noise, she asked, "What's your name, sweetie? My name's Takeko, my friend there, you can call him Texas." She didn't ask too many questions, though her expression conveyed curiosity about the young woman's situation and what exactly she'd gotten into with this odd pair. Did she need help? At least, they seemed to be trying to be discrete now that they had company. Err...aside from the nymph, who didn't seem to know what the word 'discrete' meant. That could be good, actually, if a distraction was needed to break this up in case of trouble.

She was ginger with her care, but even her light touch had solidified some of her fears. "I think it might be broken, dear," she murmured, shaking her head. "Only the Fairies could tell you for sure, let alone set it correctly. This salve will help the pain and swelling, but I'd still recommend staying off of it as much as possible." She eyed the female's interesting leaf-like wings. Were those...functional? "Are your wings injured at all? If not, flying to the Healing House would be your best bet, I'm thinking," she hinted strongly, hoping the young woman caught her drift.

Coronus was not to surprised when the demon came up and asked before Celestia. But time was wasting and she did not want anyone to have to deal with them. "To tell the truth I do not know there exact name except they are a group of Knights. They are interesting and I think it would be best that we are not around when and if they come."

(( I'm so sorry guys! I've been busy IRL the last couple of days. You'd think I'd have more time now that I'm unemployed XD ))

Leitha bit her tongue, trying not to smack the spawn up. God he was annoying. Her cold amethyst eyes shifted to look over the male that had come upon their group. Texas, the healer had called him. He seemed a little more suspicious of her than the healer did.

"Who said it was your shovel?" She asked, raising a brow. Really, he had no idea how to be quiet did he? These two had no idea what belonged to who. If she was lucky, they had no idea what was going on here. It was something Leitha was counting on. They may think she was up to something, but they didn't have the proof. At least, not if they hadn't been spotted during the little capture.

No matter. The naiad could gladly let go of the green winged one. She only wanted Pelagious. And then of course, she'd have to get her claws on Cadassi... But that wasn't the point.

Shicala

Yukiko giggled a little and smiled at the two of them. "Well, I suppose we could continue in that direction, see what we find. We're bound to run into someone else eventually, right?" she said. There was something odd about the forest today, something...she just couldn't put a finger on. Still, her curiousity got the best of her and if the siblings were still going, then so was she.

Sweetie Belle smiled at her sister. See, she cared about more than her clothes and gems! She squeaked at little when she was squished against Rarity's face and smiled. Her sister may have her faults, but she loved her all the same. "Let's go then!" she said, a little more excited now that she'd been before. Something was wrong ahead and it gave the teen a sense of anxiety, but she'd follow her sister and friend anywhere.

Applebloom rolled her eyes a little, but she supposed having Rarity along wasn't so bad. She'd probably be distracted looking for gems and stuff, anyway. She shrugged when Rarity asked where their other two Crusaders were. "Not a clue," she answered and snorted a little. "C'mon, I still wanna know what's going on," she said. She ignored the feeling of foreboding she got, ready to move.

The was one important little tidbit of information that kept Faroth from focusing too closely on what Earthmother said afterwards.

"Dragon?" he blurted in disbelief, jaw hanging open for a moment before he realized and shook his head, closing it. He continued to stare at the teenager, but when Earthmother basically confirmed what she was saying... "You're...you're serious," he mumbled, running his hand through his hair. But how could she be? A dragon up ahead, in a cave? An actual dragon? Like...rawr?

But, if Earthmother said...

He paused, looking at the elder Faunness curiously for a moment. Maybe...she didn't really believe the story either. Maybe she was just humoring the kid, letting her play games of pretend, let her be the hero and all that.

That didn't explain the ominous pressure laid over the area.

He'd started to follow after Earthmother and the others, but he paused, heart torn for a moment. Something still wasn't right here...but he couldn't figure out what. "Are you...sure you'll be alright here alone?" he asked the teenage Faerie with concern. He didn't like leaving someone so young here all alone. On the other hand, the goal was supposed to be getting most Pae out of the area and to somewhere that felt less dangerous. He couldn't keep pulling the 'I'm staying if you're staying' card, or like Kane said, no one would ever leave.

He sighed, shaking his head. "Just...be safe," he added to the strange young Fae with a final concerned look. Then, he turned back to the others, reaching out a hand to offer Earthmother stability as the group began picking their way through the dense forest. He'd almost missed the discussion going on at the other side of their little group, the yellow Faery saying something...and what was this? More newcomers? Oh for the great Earth...

"Eligor?" he blinked, puzzled by another familiar face.

Eli had followed Nephi's lead, keeping just enough distance to seem plausible if they'd been arguing about directions moments before. Alethea wasn't far behind, and the darkly colored demon focused on the brightly colored Fae, as his fellow had. She knew someone was coming?

He listened to her explanation, calm and composure hiding any reaction to her words. Knights? Did that mean, she knew them? Wait....but she was treating them like strangers instead? Puzzling, but not the strangest thing they'd seen today, he knew. These Fae today seemed to be out in force to create chaos and confusion where'er they tread.

So, did she know of their duty or not? Or was she completely mistaken, possibly even as confused as the last two? Perhaps even touched? Maybe she needed medical aid? Still, Eligor didn't try to catch Nephi's eye, as he knew the other Squire would have heard even better than he, as close as he was. What to make of this though?

Eligor had paused in thought, carefully considering his words before saying anything else. Before he could, he was startled as his name rang out from a voice that didn't belong to either of his fellows. He looked up, eyes widening at the sight of the dappled, grey Faun. Oh...crap...so much for being completely incognito.

His stomach twisted, his mind racing for the other's name. "Er...Faroth? What brings you all the way out here, so far from the Tree?" Given how much the other's arrival had startled him, the demon thought he sounded pretty calm...though the surprise was genuine.

"Seems to be the question of the day," Faroth answered with a light chuckle. "Nothing much. What about you? Though, we're heading out of here. Maybe you should join us," he urged, thinking that they didn't need more Pae'il blundering into whatever lay beyond the Faerie's guarded stance.

Eligor was stunned. Wait...they're leaving? So much for needing to distract them so that the others could get by. At least, this would provide all the diversion they needed to give the others time to investigate the cave beyond. The Guardians provide for their faithful, he thought to himself, realizing he still needed to answer Faroth's question. "Oh, well, my friends and I had thought to spend a nice day at the lake," he shot a pointed look at the other dark colored demon teen, keeping up their story. "If we could find it. I think we took a wrong turn somewhere."

"I'll say you did," snorted Faroth, pleased to be moving away from the source of the dark feelings. "Hey, tell ya' what. Stick with us, we're heading that direction. We can drop you kids off at the lake, what do you say?"

Lailah glanced around at the rest of the Squires, then crossed her arms and resumed impatiently tapping her fingers against the other arm, focusing on the counting, the regular rhythm to keep calm and relaxed. Balance and focus.

After a few minutes, she mumbled, "Close enough," took a deep breath, then let it out as she relaxed in a stance more ready for movement and stealth. She rolled her shoulders, eager to get moving, aimed a brief nod at the others to follow as they wished, then set off silently on her way. She kept her senses trained, not only ahead of her, but checking off to the side from time to time, in the direction that the trio had gone to intercept the heretics. They'd have to be ready to adapt to changing circumstances as necessary, since they couldn't exactly communicate with their compatriots in this case. They'd have to...Guardians help them...trust their companions. To be quite honest, this was still a hard concept for Lailah to grasp, though, the incident in the swamp had done much to crack the defensive wall between her and some of the other Squires. They'd proven their capability then, some even earning her respect. Some of it at least.

Though, that only went for the ones who had been present that day. None of the three who had gone off on the diversion had been in the marsh that day, so Lailah was having a hard time just trusting that they'd do their job. So, she'd just have to do hers better. Then she wouldn't have to worry about whether they messed up or not.

Knees bent, perched lightly on her toes, the cream and crimson angel moved in swift bursts, then froze, checking her surroundings, scouting her next position, then going for it, repeating the cycle. The oppressive feeling only grew stronger the further they moved, weighing on their hearts, their minds, making their feet heavy, in an effort to drive them back, turn them around. Once or twice, Lailah's step faltered, but she growled, clenched her fist, and shook off the urge to turn back, focusing on the pain in her palm instead.

When it felt as if the air around them were trying to suffocate them with fear and doubt, the angel halted. Glancing back at those who had managed to follow her to this point, she whispered, "It's got to be around here somewhere. Spread out, but not too far. Within sight and search."

Genesis stuck close to the group, listening for anything that might hint to whether they were getting to close or not, it was fairly quiet where they were though. No, Genesis could tell they were getting close by the heavy weight on her heart becoming more and more powerful. 'The Guardians need us to be here, this is for them. They commanded us to complete this mission, I will complete this mission.' She would urge herself on, meditation on those thoughts to keep her moving closer instead of fleeing. Still, doubt clouded her mind, What if they are just sending us to our fated deaths... I would die for the guardians... but... not if they are just killing us off..."

Genesis paused when she felt like she was getting closer to where they needed to be and started counting silently in her head to make sure she was giving the other group enough time. She looked to the others who had followed, which was thankfully a good majority of the group. Genesis tilted her head to the side when Lailah spoke, her personal feelings were that it still hadn't been enough time... but they truly had wasted enough time already.

The angel slowly nodded her head in agreement. "If anything suspicious is seen, report back to the group. We can't falter at this mission." Genesis warned, if anyone blew their cover by trying to be a hero and the mission failed... it wouldn't be good for any of them. They needed to handle this together, it wasn't about personal glory, it was about glory for the guardians.

Genesis pushed on into the thick jungle that had grown at the base of the mountain, she walked until the hit the precipice and then began to feel her way about the mountainside looking for any openings. She knew next to nothing about what they were looking for, a cave could be anything: a crawlspace or a giant mouth. Genesis knew she needed to keep her mind open about what she might be looking for. Her golden eyes squinted as she saw a faint pink glow seeming to come from further down the mountainside. "What is that?" she said at a level loud enough that someone nearby would be able to hear her.
