He got a decent start, and while some rabbits were running in front of him he had managed to leave quite a few in the dust. It was hard running among so many other rabbits, but he was sure the crowd would thin out soon. Hopefully with him in a solid lead... He tried to find the best way to run, without others getting in the way.

Oxlip managed to overtake a few more rabbits, and when the slower ones were left behind he could run faster without having to worry about running into someone. There were still rabbits running faster than him, but he hoped that they would burn out and grow tired soon.

A smaller buck appeared out of nowhere and Oxlip had to throw himself to the side to avoid colliding with him. He lost valuable time, but hopefully he'd be able to make up for it. He was nearly at the black buck at the turning point now, and he focused on positioning himself for a good turn.

Well, that didn't work. Every other rabbit seemed to have the same idea and he found himself in a crowd once again. The grass around Crow had been trampled to mud in places and Oxlip slipped, unable to get a good grip.

He finally found his footing and managed to turn and speed back towards the beech tree. He was picking up speed again, and felt hopeful. Perhaps he hadn't lost too much time slipping around in the mud.

Oxlip decided to run in a slight arch to avoid the many rabbits in the race. It would mean he'd run slightly farther than necessary, but on the other paw he'd avoid being slowed down by others getting in the way.

His gamble seemed to pay off. He was running on grass that wasn't trampled by too many feet and he managed to pick up speed. Now he just needed to keep the speed up, and hope that some of the rabbits in the lead stumbled or something...

 Dogsbane took off like a shot. He didn't wait to stretch or do any of that important stuff. He just wanted to go! He ran pretty swiftly. 7/100 Roll 1/10

Oxlip finished the race, panting slightly. He hadn't won, but several others were still struggling behind him. So not first and far from last... He could live with that!

Roll 2/10 Score 8/100 Dogsbane was in such a hurry to impress that he caught one of his own wretched ears and went sprawling, getting run over by another rabbit. No matter! He picked himself up and shook off.

Well this was a little more like it! The rabbit was able to steady himself and continued running, leaping and bounding as best he could. roll 3/10 score 15/100
