...see if anything smelt particularly interesting.

Dust, the faint scent of Red, the sharp tang of alcohol. Those were the three immediate scents Shehk could pinpoint.

Inu-Mitsu
...plucking out the file that said Captain Wilson B. Bravery on the tab and opened it up to see what information it had to offer.

There is a profile here. A cocky-looking ghost smirks up at Mitsu, the expression frozen in time. The profile goes on about his name, age, a basic personality, and an all-in-all in-depth analysis of who he was and what sort of person he was. It turns out he was a criminal of some sort, one that Red assisted in the capture of. There's a detailed recount of it -- apparently Red and some other boogeymen had to masquerade as pirates to the point of owning their own ship.

At least that would explain where Red got her ship for the field trip out to the hunter's island. It was too bad it was wrecked in the process. Red seemed to really enjoy sailing to the point where she took the ship as payment for doing her job. Nevermind the fact that the ship was scuttled -- she raised enough money to restore it according to the file.

As Lizzy set the desk contents aside, Malodore gingerly reached down and picked up the bottle, examining it carefully.

The bottle is smooth and curvy. The liquid inside of it was clear, and the label made it look as if it was some sort of alcohol.

The room still had Red's lingering scent. She couldn't help but continue sniffing around for it, trying to find where it had been most recently. Where was it the least faded?

"Huh..." Was all Mitsu could say about the file staring back at the frozen features of a cocky looking sea captain. Reading on she found the account of his capture rather interesting but she was curious. "Why....do you think Red kept files on the work she did as a bogey here?"

That aside she placed the file back where she found it before moving around to the side of the desk where Lizzy was currently standing. Making sure there was nothing to slip on Mitsu made sure to get a good foot hold before she braced herself against the desk and tried to use her natural strength to slide it across the floor. "Do you think Red could have moved the desk on her own?" The lycan asked curiously.

Hmm... alcohol. Not terribly interesting. Malodore set the bottle to one side and turned its attention to the files, flipping through the folders slowly to see if anything had fallen between them... or if there was anything on the bottom of the drawer underneath the upright folders.

...it had been most recently...

The scent was fragile, faded. It smelled a bit stronger near the desk, however it was easily lost and overwritten by the presence of everyone else in the room.

[qupte="Inu-Mitsu"]Making sure there was nothing to slip on Mitsu made sure to get a good foot hold before she braced herself against the desk and tried to use her natural strength to slide it across the floor.

The desk continued to stay stubbornly put, not budging in even the slightest.

There were many files in the drawer to the point where it was borderline overcrowded. It was difficult to peek and look down between the files. There were a few sheets of paper wedged between the files, however a quick examination revealed that they were there only because Red missed putting them into the proper folders itself. It was too dark to see if there was anything on the bottom, and there were too many folders to get a good glimpse of said bottom.

She half bumped into the desk as she sniffed around, frowning lightly. Well, that didn't lead her to much of anywhere that wasn't already being snooped. Still, it smelled nice - that lingering scent of Red. She couldn't help but half-linger on it before she pulled away. She'd get herself buried in that if she stuck to it too long.

Taking a deep breath, she returned to the original bookcase (the moved one) to see if any of the book's titles seemed to be particularly out of place.

Malodore frowned inwardly as it struggled with the files - Red had clearly not been accomplished at organization. But was it really expecting to just find information on the Hunters just lying around in her files?

No... no. Of course not.

The plague doctor stared at the desk drawer that had caused Shun to dissipate. Sammy's trick with its feather hadn't worked, though it had been lighter. Maybe something else...

Malodore approached the trapped drawer and wedged its tailblade underneath it before pulling back, hoping that the additional living metal would give better leverage... and failing that, that the trap was a biological agent that it would be immune to. It was dangerous, but it was clear that the real secrets would be concealed...

"If she didn't maybe there is a trick to it?" She frowned, wondering if the desk was really worth all the effort.

When Mitsu failed to move the desk with her strength, she frowned, and begun moving her hands against the top, and sides of the stone desk, trying to find anything that might be off about the surface of the desk; all the pushing and shoving had not moved the desk, after all... Maybe there is some sort of a switch? Unless it really was that heavy.

"I don't think it's going to move," Mitsu said softly when she finally pulled away. "If we got everyone to try maybe but I doubt Red could have moved it on her own."

Mitsu was starting to doubt if they were going to find anything of use in this office. As far as she knew no one had made a startling discovery and they had already lost two students in the attempt.

Fingers trailing along the desk Mitsu left it for now though paused long enough to pick up the remains of the flower that had crumpled to the floor. Gently she placed the remains on the desk so they wouldn't be trampled before she made her way back over to the bookshelf to check out the bottle that had been there.

It looked as if there were a few more journals, however it was difficult to tell by the spines alone.

The stone drawer was heavy and made a painful grating sound that was heard more internally than externally. But at least the drawer was open... part of the way. A creature hissed and retreated further into the depths of the drawer before it could be seen.

Lizzy doesn't feel anything out of the ordinary.

The bottle has something glowing inside. Mitsu reaches out to pick it up. The first thing that happens is a sensation of cold. It was like Red's fire; so cold that it burned but this was a feeling that seeped out from the bottle itself. It wasn't made by Insanity -- this was a pure flame created from Fear.

Quickly Mitsu put it back. But the feeling of cold still lingered, still burned through her hand until the werewolf girl was frozen, dissipating from the inside out.

Mitsu has dissipated. Please go here.

Malodore winced as its tailblade grated and bent out of shape, but the drawer slid open just a bit... and something hissed at it and moved back into the shadows.

"It's open, but there's something alive in there," it said. "I bet that's what caused Shun to dissipate... but if the contents are that well protected, they must be important." It frowned inwardly.

Then it flinched as Mitsu dissipated too - and of course, of course the last thing she'd touched was the nearest light source. Damn. "Ah... if we could get that bottle into the drawer then perhaps we could see... and perhaps the bottle's effect could deal with the creature within?" it said, slowly. If only it had brought forceps!

Shehk seemed startled as Mitsu dissipated next to her, looking back to Malodore with her ears perked up. "Creature? Do you carry any FEAR candies on you?" Shehk took a minute to rifle through her pockets to see if she had any, before pulling one out to toss it to the plague doctor. "See if that'll buy it off. If it's been in there for a while it's probably hungry."

She knew she'd be bitey and angry if she'd been in a drawer for months without it being opened.

Still, it seemed like touching anything was raising the ante of getting dissipated, so Shehk was extremely cautious about pulling anything else off of the shelves. She gingerly pulled one of the possible-journals off of the shelf.

"I... no, I do not, but..." It turned around, looking for one student in particular. "Thackery, do you have any FEAR candies for minipets with you?" The boil liked minipets, did he not? Perhaps...

He'd been a bit distracted with the ball - embarrassingly so - but Thackery always responded when his name was called. His ears perked and he very nearly dropped the fantastic glowy sphere, clutching it close to his chest upon saving it. Never again.

"Oh! Of course!" He made sure that the ball was securely tucked under one arm as he shifted to fish a couple of FEAR candies out of his pocket. Individually wrapped, even, so no pocket lint in sight!

He held the FEAR candies out towards Malodore, head tilted with curiosity.

"Ah, grazie," Malodore said, opening its beak in a small smile as it took the candies. The plague doctor then unwrapped a few and tossed them into the open drawer... maybe minipet class was going to be useful after all?
