Jay just sat there, holding her, keeping his eyes shut and hoping beyond hope that if she was going to shatter him, she'd make it quick and she'd make it as painless as possible...

The wait was starting to kill him too... He really just wanted to ask her to run away with him, but he would not ruin her life like that...

"Yeah... Very wow..." He murmured.

Joi didn't know how to approach this topic and she NEEDED to talk to him before going home, else she might never see him again. After a wallup of a kiss like that, how to do tell someone that things need to slow down to a stop? She felt horrible, but she had to do it.

"Jay..." she whispered. I love you! I want to shout it from the peak of this mountain how much I am in love with you! She opened her eyes, looking at him. Her first trial would be telling him this while maintaining eye contact. His eyes were her weakness, she'd figured that out quick. "I think ... we ... I think .." she stumbled over her own words badly. "I think we shouldn't do this anymore." Her heart ripped in half the moment she said that. She felt the tears building fast.

"I ... love spending time with you. But... I can't ..." Tears started sliding down her cheeks, "I can't be this much in love with you yet." she started crying full out now. She'd admitted something to him she was so unsure of, not knowing the consequences of telling him that. She didn't know if it was love, it only felt like it based on what she's witness of it with others. She burried her face on his neck, her heart shattering. "I don't want to lose you..."

The wait for the hammer didn't even get him ready for when it hit...

He felt his heart shatter when she spoke each word causing more and more of that fragile thing to shatter and turn into dust. Soon, he felt cold, empty, alone... He wanted to die... He wanted to push her off him and jump right off of the mountain and not save himself...

At least that way he wouldn't have to live with the pain...

Tears came, it would have been impossible for them not to, but not only at his own hurt, but at hers as well...

She was his princess, and he was her knight, and he was causing her harm by having her love him. So finally, once he built up the strength to speak he did...

He must have sounded like a man totally shattered, broken, and killed... He didn't know if after this day he would ever be happy... But he would trie... if only for her...

"Joi... I love spending time with you, I really do, you make me happy like nothing else... But... You are right, we should stop this now... Before it goes any further... I'm your knight, you're my princess... You deserve a prince..." That hurt him to say, but he felt it was true...

I could be her prince... I could...

"You will never lose me Joi, not matter what happens, no matter what you do... I will always be your friend..." He murmured. I will always love you, and you will be my death... And I would not have it any other way...

"Remember, I'm your knight, just call for me and I will come to your side... You don't have to be in love with me... We can just be friends..." I love you, and I can't have you, and Guardians bless the man you finally chose... He'll be happy in a way I only barely grasped before it slipped through my fingers...

"I... I..." He clenched his eyes shut as the tears started to flow. He couldn't say it... He couldn't say what he wanted to say.... "I..." Love you Joi, with all my borken heart... "I think we should get you home now..."

Yeah... That cliff looked mighty good right now...

Joi kept crying, not lifting her head at all. She clung so tight to him, not wanting to believe or follow her own words. It hurt so bad, and she only could assume it hurt him. She was too young to be feeling such mature emotoins and she knew it. Was her innocence gone now she wondered?

She listened to him speak, trying to carefully take in every word to see if she could get an inkling for how he felt. Not once did he indicate that he loved her, only that they should be friends. He did let on that he enjoyed their time together. She shook her head a little. He must think I'm just some dumb kid. That thought made it hurt worse, but she had to stop crying. She wasn't a baby anymore, mature adults don't cry like this.

She sniffled slightly and lifted her head, wiping her eyes with the back of her hands. "I'm sorry." she said, her voice shaking. She couldn't look him in the eyes at all now. She got up, pulling away from him and stood very close to the edge of the cliff with her arms crossed. She was letting the cold wind dry the tears for her. The cold was nothing compared to the cold she felt inside. Turning her head, but not looking at him, she finally spoke with a clearing, more steady voice. "I will go home alone, no need for you to get hurt. I won't tell them I was with you."

"Joi please wait, I love you too much to let you face that man alone..." Jay said as he stood, not really thinking about what HE was saying, he slowly walked towards her. "Please, I can't let you take all the blame... I was the one that told you it was cool to sneak out..." He spoke loud enough to get over the wind.

No, he didn't realize what he'd said in his first sentence, more because he was too emotionally distraught to think straight...

Joi wished she hadn't heard that, she was just barely being able to accept that she as being the silly kid in all this. It made the heartache justifiable. As the wind blew her loosely held together braid even looser, she turned slowly, still standing on the edge. She shook her head, but with her hair flowing as it was, it was probably hard to tell. "No Jay. I made that decision. Daddy WILL hurt you, but he won't hurt me. He doesn't need to know." Her voice was rather calm, all things considered. She'd already subconsciously sealing off all emotions connected to Jomund. It was the only way she'd be able to see him, to be his friend... without hurting.

I'm too young to feel this way ...

Jay walked over to her and he wrapped an arm around her and kissed her cheek, saying one last thing before he was going to take to the air. "Remember, just call my name if you need me... I will come... No matter where I am..."

And with that, he let her go and tossed himself off the mountain...

He was actually half tempted to not let his rings flap at all and just... fall...

But he'd made her a promise, he'd made her a vow... He'd said he's protect her, he said he'd watch over her, he said he loved her...

He would keep these, if only in his own heart, if only to keep her safe and happy...

His wings flapped as they always did, and it was not long before he was flying out of her view... heading for the tree next to her window... The only place he knew he could hide from her father, and still be in contact with her...

Joi watched him fall then fly away. Her heart did sink a little when she wondered if he would keep falling or fly away.

She considered just staying there on the mountain a few more days. But she knew that would upset her parents pretty bad. She just had to endure the worst pain of her life, and now ... she had to go home and get the punishment of a lifetime.

Could life get any worse?

Long after Jay was out of site, she finally fluttered her wings enough to lift herself off the ground. She was blown back a little by the wind and suddenly realized how inexperienced a flyer she really was. "I hope I don't die ..." she muttered as she slowly pushed herself against the wind, dipping and flying downward. Would be easier than bee-lining it home.

It took a while actually for her to make it home. It had to have been at least noon time, if not later. The closer to her house she got, the more scared she become. Daddy woudl never hurt me.... would he?

She was soon going to find out...

Vale was sitting on the poarch in the swing, his eyes closed, head down, his hands resting on his staff, something Joi would have rarely seen him with...

It was his focus, the one thing that made his powers stronger and much easier to use... He only took it out when he needed it, he wasn't so deeply connected with it as some other Fae were, if that meant his power suffered for it he was fine with that, he never really did like hurting people...

The little skull charm at the end wiggled with each breath he took as he sat on the poarch swing, looking to be napping, the hair of his bangs covering his face from Joi's apporch.

He was, meditating on what to do, trying to not get angrier than he already was...

He already had to go up and patch the roof above Joi's room before nightfall...

Dizzy had not been angry at all. She'd been worried sick. What if someone had come and snatched her daughter from her bed? Joi never had deliberately done anything to disobey her before, so sneaking out wasn't even an option in Dizzy's mind. She was worried for the safety of her daughter. She'd searched the forest floor a dozen times, incase Joi had fallen or gotten hurt. She was a nervous wreck.

She sat inside, unable to really talk to Vale right now. He was angry and she didn't understand why. It angered her, that he was angry above worried. She fought to keep herself together, if only because she had to infants to watch out for, and keep away from the angry Vale.

Joi spotted her dad on the porch. Oh no, he's waiting for me. She stopped and hid herself in the tree, her heart pounding. She considered turning and just running. Maybe I can stay with Mo ...

It wasn't that Vale was worried... He had been... His anger came from his first assumption.... The worst case secnario in his mind...

That Joi had been out with some... GUY!

Probably that Jomund character... He REALLY did not like him now, and until the man was proven innocent... he was going to shoot him on sight...

He sighed and let his head fall back exposing his face, dropping the anger for a moment of worry...

But what if Dizzy had been right? What if Joi hadn't snuck out and she was hurt...

She was his baby!
PostPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2006 2:14 pm

A heavy, stinging feeling shot through Joi's chest. She's never been this scared a day in her life. How was she going to face her father. Act like nothing is wrong? Act injured? sneak in and pretend she was there the whole time?

The truth would get her AND Jay killed in a flash. She seen his staff in his hands... she knew he was pissed.

Dizzy put the babies in the playpen and headed for the door, opening it slowly to look at Vale. "Vale, why don't you come in and relax? We can go see Elder Sol and Elder Estra and maybe they can help us find her?"

Vale got up and sighed, shaking his head. "Yeah... Could you put some green tea on love... It helps me think..." he murmured, he sounded defeated. "I think you are right love... I'm sorry I got so angry..." He murmured and kissed Dizzy's cheek as he walked by her into the house... Now it was his turn to be near sick with worry...

Dizzy tried giving a reassuring smile to Vale, but it was hard. All she wanted to do was cry. She disappeared into the kitchen to make some tea for him.

Joi had watched her dad go inside and sighed relief. She quickly zipped over to the porch and listened through the door, trying to get an idea of their mood. She figured they might be worried but had NO idea how worried they really were.

"Thanks love, then we can take the kids and go talk to Elder Sol and Elder Estra, maybe they have seen her..." Vale sighed and leaned on the door with a thud. "I just hope she's okay..." His voice sounded worried as all hell.
