Rikki quickly spun his chains from his wrist and held a tight, defensive grip on them as the fu dogs began to speak. They wanted individual choices? To leave this room? Rikki didn't know if he trusted the dogs, but he considered their question,
Did he regret? Coming to the haunted house? He glanced at Danny. His friends had gone through so many trials. Danny had died, hadn't she? So did Roch. And G had burned himself in the first room. The experience, the chance to learn more about his battle tactics, had been there, and they had helped to save someone, but had it been worth it to put his friends in danger? Not really.
His grip on his chains loosened and their magic snaked them around his arm again. He took Danny's hand confidently and looked up at the Fu Dogs. "YES, I do regret it," and he lead Danny to the slide, where they could go down together and get the hell out of here.

So Rikki regretted too. Danny wondered if it was for the same reasons as her, or for different ones. Somehow she imagined they couldn't be too different. Then again, maybe he just didn't like haunted houses (but how could you not like haunted houses?! Bad memories perhaps?)
Danny shook her head. That didn't matter. Whatever it was they were going to face, they wouldn't face it alone, that was for sure. She had all of Amityville backing her up! Even if they split up, you couldn't take away the memories.
Rikki grabbed her hand and she went over with him to the slide. She sat on his lap like she did in movie club, and giggled with delight the whole way down. At least the slide provided some sort of distraction from whatever it was that was in the doors.
Even an idiot like Danny could tell that something big was happening. She just hoped it wouldn't be too big for her.
