It would be another man that greeted her...or rather, it would be that mans snake. A crimson blade would find itself at Vanni's neck, the seviper not entirely wrapped around her though its body was draped over her feet in such a way that she wouldn't be moving anytime soon. She'd hiss at the child, tongue slipping out once as her eyes narrowed to a point.
She was by no means weak. She was larger and bulkier than average, and her golden plates were dull and scratched from years of battling. There was a sort of sinister beauty in all of that though, but it wasn't likely the child would see it in quite the same way the poison types trainer did.
"Easy there, we don't need any more business to cover up. You know I abhor the dirty work"
Her professor wouldn't look up from the laptop on his desk once, tapping away furiously at the keys as he typed up a storm. He'd end it with the final press of the enter key, closing the laptop and leaning back in his chair. The Seviper would hiss once more, getting off of Vanni and slithering back to her masters side. He'd swivel around to look at Vanni, giving her a quick once-over from the bottom up.
There were quite a few things similar between her and her professor in fact. Short brown hair, green eyes, rather fair skin. All in all it would be to her as if staring at an older, slightly darker version of herself...or to the professor, looking at a younger self. Though there was another difference that only Vanni would catch -- the eyes. While hers were young and full of life, his were dead and void of it. They were empty, hollow, and overall rather intimidating, and he slight grin that crept onto his face only made it look worse.
"Vanni of Mossdeep correct? Glad to see you've made it. You're keeping up the nice success rate I've been seeing from this class so far...lets try not to fall now by the blade of a snake, yeah? Give a knock or a bit of a warning next time." he'd stretch his arms, resisting the urge to yawn. They'd fall down to the arms of the chair, pushing him up and off in one swift motion. Standing up straight now, the professor would attempt to straighten his shirt a bit, trying to be more presentable.
A white dress shirt unbuttoned once at the collar and black slacks, there wasn't much to look at. Most of the outfit was usually covered by his coat, which now hung draped over the back of his chair. It was nice, though, maybe not as much as it would have been if it was kept neater, but what could you do? The professor would extend a hand out to Vanni, lips in a tight line and eyes staring down at her. "You may refer to me as Professor Stratton, I will be your instructor from now on. Now, while you're here, you have a team of five yes? I would like to see them for myself if I may"
All this while she'd feel slight relief from the wound on her leg, gentle and soft hands working on patching it up. If she bothered to glance down she'd see a Togetic tending to and cleaning the wound, bandages and other supplies in a small kit on the floor next to it. And for the sake of getting it done good and right, she should probably try to move as little as possible

The girl would halt, jerking back as the Seviper's tail blade met her neck with stunning swiftness. Vanni froze, heart in her throat. As fond as she was of poison types (she'd almost received an Ekans instead of her female Nidoran) she could have done with a little space between the two of them.
But she heard the strange voice, ad the Seviper's blade eased off her neck, and it occurred to Vanni that she probably wouldn't die today. Reaching up to rub the still-tingling patch of skin, she looked up to met the man who would be her professor. It certainly wasn't Wilde. Wilde was fire and this Stratton... well, he wasn't ice so much as void- the inky blackness up in space only lit by the stars. And those eyes weren't bright enough to be stars.
Well, it would be rude to just stare. She took her professor's hand and nodded. "Understood, Professor Stratton," she'd said politely. Privately, she wondered how he was able to know how many pokemon she had, especially since she'd gained an extra Pokeball on the way, but decided not to ask. Smiling and quietly remarking "Thank you," to the Togetic medic, she began to riffle through her purse. In seconds she retrieved her five Pokeballs, and summoned the five in a large flash of light.
Phoebe came out of the ball ready for a fight. This was the longest she'd been trapped in that blasted ball, and this Nidoran was determined to protect her trainer, injuries or no injuries. Upon finding no threat, she relaxed, pressing herself against Vanni's leg. Well, they were off the island! That was good.
Bellona blinked, glancing around curiously. This was different. At least they appeared to be out of danger... but where were they? A pang of sharp homesickness wracked her body. She might never see her home again.
Culann was a little more woozy, stumbling out of his Pokeball like he'd come out of a roll down a hill. Shaking his head, he glanced up and about. Assessing no threat, he laid down next to his trainer, hazel eyes open and alert.
Despite his injuries, the Archen was still full of vim and vigor. He hopped up and down, eager for a battle, and didn't deflate when he realized there wasn't one. He glanced to the side, bobbing his beak towards Culann. /Good to see you are not dead, Hairball,/ he snarked to the Growlithe before clambering up to Vanni's shoulder. The girl wavered a bit, but kept upright.
The Omanyte, the only one currently without an appellation, simply sat on the floor. Staring. Staring at everyone. And wriggling.
Vanni looked over the group, smiling slightly. They were just as tired as she was, but they were still hanging on. After this, she was going to take them to the Pokemon enter and get them healed up. And give them all hugs.
The Omanyte wiggled his tentacles towards Urvogel, but was intercepted by a grumpy Bellona.
Okay, maybe not the Omanyte. Trying to hold still as she stood (and once again thanking that strange women for her wonderful cane), she looked back up to her Professor, unsure of what to say. Struck by sudden rememberance, she stuck her hand back into the purse and pulled out a bright shiny stone-like object: the Amber. "I was asked to retrieve this as well," she said, holding the Amber out with one hand. With the other, she kept the Archen on her shoulder from launching himself into the air.

She'd look over the team quickly, a little more lenient on them than the last group considering that this girl was being rather polite. That and she saw some of herself in the child, and it was a nice reminder that she was once lively and young and enjoyed getting dolled up, too. Ah, the memories...
Stratton would fall down into her chair, sitting with one leg over the other in such a way that they made a wide triangle between themselves. It was a rather odd team to say the least, but she was sure the child could work with it. One made due with what they had, and what she had wasn't all bad to begin with. She'd then glance over at Vanni's amber, which she'd make no move to take. Seeing it in person was enough.
She'd spin in her chair, turning it to face her desk again. The laptop set up on it would be opened gently, and she'd resume her typing. "I would like it if you took the rest of the day off now. Considering the ordeal you've been through, it wouldn't help if I just sent you on your way. Please hold your amber and recall your pokemon, take a days rest in your lot. I'll have a mission for you in the morning when you've returned rested and ready"
"...and it would be preferred you knock next time, because I may not be able to stop her next time"
She would not look up from her work the entire time. It wasn't very formal behavior, but she was far too used to it to notice. In fact if it weren't for this teaching position it'd be what she did from morning to night, no breaks. It was like breathing, and it was very much concerning though she wouldn't be stopping anytime soon. Besides, this time it was something everyone would like, she was sure of it.
A clicking sound would be heard next to Vanni shortly after Strattons last words were finished, the sound of the kit her professors Togetic had been using closing shut. Her wound was now cleaned well, and though he didn't find it severe enough to try to make it heal instantly he had gone through the trouble of using rather nice bandages with an oran berry extract coating the insides so that it would ease some of the pain. The bandages, fresh and white, where tied into a small (and rather cute) bow at the end - something he did specially for the child as he thought it would suit her.
He'd flutter over to Strattons desk, putting the kit away behind it before promply flying up to her head, sitting in a way that his rump was against the office chair and he was leaning over his trainers head, looking down at the screen with bright eyes. He'd break from it for only a moment, though, looking over at Vanni with a cheerful look. He knew better than to try to speak to her (if anything it'd disturb Stratton for no reason and that was a no go), though his look spoke enough. While he wasn't the best of hands, anything not overly drastic that didn't warrant an immediate visit to the nurse could be seen by him whenever it was needed.
A licensed togetic, of all things.

Basically everything Professor Stratton said surprised Vanni. She could keep the strange item and take a day's rest. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate either of those things, but that struck her as... impressively lenient. But she wasn't one to look a gift Ponyta in the mouth. The Amber was snatched out of her palm before she could pocket it by Urvogel, who had realized his precious treasure would be kept. And the hits were only getting better; throughout Stratton's observation and analysis, Vanni'd felt the pain in her leg slowly but surely easing up to a manageable numbness. As Stratton finished, she chanced a look down to see the Togetic's excellent handiwork. Effective and attractive; always the best kind of actions. She smiled to the Togetic, happy to be healing at last. But what to do now?
With a quick flick of her wrist, she recalled all of her Pokemon. This didn't exactly please Phoebe, but since the Omanyte was doing his damnest to freak out everyone around him, she figured it might have been for the best. When refocused, she noticed that Stratton had gone right back to work. Vanni didn't really mind the professor's behavior; after all, she had been the one to interrupt and barge in unannounced. Besides, people were quirky, and academics and the like tended to get wrapped in their activities, according to her aunt. Well, there was nothing left for her here at the moment. "I'll remember to knock. See you later, Professor." She gave a polite tip of the hat to the Togetic who'd healed her (and Stratton, even if her teacher wasn't looking in that direction), and as quickly as she had arrived, Vanni left.

Jade felt refreshed after a nice sleep and relaxing time on his plot of land. The boy wandered through the academy, finally finding the right classroom. Unfortunately he had his back turned when a certain Umbreon accidentally tripped him and he fell flailing towards a certain figure (Vanni) and then latching on to pull her down with him. The boy blushed, not paying attention but instead of hitting the ground with a loud crash, landing on something a little bit more comfortable.
~~~~~ What Happened~~~~~~ Kyo and Nyx were both having fun, letting loose a little with various competitions to see who was better. This time the Umbreon was proving he was faster by running and weaving around the boy, while the Zangoose tried catching him. What had ended up happening was the Umbreon conveniently forgot that the boy was going to stop. Unprepared, he felt the boy trip over his back and fall. The dark pokemon leapt nimbly out of the way, just staring. The boy had a strange domino effect, pulling and latching onto a girl that was standing by the door in which they both fell to the ground. Kyo could only stand there and stare as the boy and the girl fell towards the ground. The Zangoose then glared at the Umbreon and lashed out at him, telling him how foolish his idea was and what a mess he had made of things. The warrior pokemon stood there, claws at the ready to fight or have to deal with whatever pokemon might come out to defend the girl. He kept eye contact on the Nidoran at her side, having a feeling she wouldn't take this well even if it was an accident.
Before the door's knock could be answered, something knocked into Vanni and sent her sprawling to the ground. Phoebe managed to leap clear, but the girl once again found herself with someone else on top of her.
"This is becoming a rather strange habit for me," Vanni remarked, more to herself and Phoebe than her "attackers". She gave the boy a winning smile, recognizing him as the one from the Pokemon Center. "Hello again. While I'm certain you're probably a very nice blanket, I'm not tired, and your elbow is directly on my bruised ribs. If it isn't too much trouble, could you please lie somewhere else?" With some people, this would have been a sarcastic remark, but Vanni's tone was light and pleasant- it was a genuine request. She looked up at him, eyes twinkling.
Phoebe shook herself off, and glared in irritation to the Zangoose and Umbreon. /Could you contain your destruction to you own trainer, thanks?/ Her voice was acidic, and she seemed untroubled by the fully evolved Pokemon.
Vanni and Jades little frackus would only be met by a slow, steady, sarcastic clap. Their professor sat turned away from their desk, the laptop on yet not in use and coffee at their side. A large, white, short box was on the desk as well, the tape that held the lid down snapped off. The address it had on a yellow-papered note on the front had was clearly foreign, and the cute, simple little pastel drawing of a Darumaka took up the center the lid.
She'd had them delivered this morning. From one of her favorite bakery's, along with a couple of other items. She figured that as long as she was buying she might as well get the kids something, it didn't hurt to do so and doing things like this was considered "nice" by social standards. She wanted them to think she was nice. Nice was always good.
"When you two are done there then maybe I can give you your next mission." her voice was stern and authoritative, yet it was that way in the sense that it had little to no emotion behind it. She was, quite frankly, bored. Nothing overly exciting happened anymore and that was just oh-so bad. Hopefully when she started having some fun it'd all work out. She'd reach under the desk, still leaned back in her chair, taking out two potions and four pokeballs, presumably to be split between the two children before her. She'd then roll forwards, taking the lid off of the white box to show the 12 fresh donuts inside; three plain, three frosted, three chocolate, and three strawberry jelly-filled.
"When you feel you are ready to get up and receive your next assignment, then you may take you potion and balls as well as your pick of one of these. I'd advise haste if you want the pastry - Clock will get them before you do"
If they looked down one of the twelve was gone, behind Stratton her togetic with half of a frosted donut in his little hands. It would only be a matter of time...
Jade realized that he hadn't slammed against the ground. Then a voice started talking to him and he blinked to realize he was on top of a....GIRL! The boy leapt up, stumbling backwards eyes wide in shock. Just great.... "I am soooo sorry! I don't...I mean... It was...accident... I apologize... I..." he stuttered, face bright red. Then there was the sound of clapping and he realized they weren't alone anymore. The boy saw the Professor and his Togetic staring at the pair. A delicious smell suddenly wafted by and his mouth watered (on the inside of course). The Professor was being nice? He had bought them donuts and was letting them each have one?! The boy walked forward, taking the potion and two pokeballs to stash into his bag. Glancing at the box of donuts, he grabbed one of the jelly filled donuts and then held it in his hand. "What is the mission going to be then? Thank you very much for the donut." he asked, glancing shiftily at the girl behind him before letting his gaze flicker back to the Professor. He hurried back over to the girl, holding out a hand. Would she allow him to help her up? The boy worried about stuttering over the words, but the intent was clear. It was part of his way of apologizing? Nyx turned when the poisonous rabbit turned and talked to them. Actually it was more of a warning but he was still pleased. The whole incident was his fault and he was proud of it. It didn't matter to him, he was a trickster at heart and pranks were his specialty. Grinning before giving a mock bow to the Nidoran, he glanced at her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Of course, ma'am. Wouldn't dream of harming a lady again." Kyo glared at the Umbreon, wondering what he was up to. A little more reassured that the Nidoran and no others were out to get him, his voice was more sincere. "I'll try and make sure this idiot doesn't try anything again." he growled.
"Hello again, Professor!" Vanni said brightly from her awkward position on the floor. She seemed rather nonchalant about the whole situation- in truth, she was just happy to be mostly healed up and off that blasted island. In the very least, she was moving forward... even if she occasionally got knocked over in the process.
Pushing herself up on her elbows, she saw the boy offering her a hand up. How kind! ... even if she was the reason he was on the floor in the first place. Smiling, she took the proffered hand and carefully maneuvered herself up as to not cause herself further injury. "Thanks. I'm Vanni, by the way," she remarked, by means of introductions. If they were in the same class and were going to keep running into each other (both figuratively and literally), it wouldn't hurt to know names.
Phoebe, meanwhile, was completely unfooled by Nyx's act and unimpressed by Kyou's promise. At last her lady wasn't hurt. Rolling her red eyes, she scaled her trainer's dress until she was perched in her normal spot.
Patting her Nidoran absentmindedly, Vanni suddenly noticed there were gifts. Well, that was different. She took the first items- the potion and two Pokeballs- and carefully deposited them into her purse. The next order of business was a little trickier- Vanni hadn't had donuts in a long while, as her aunt considered them to be too... "lower class". As she was the one controlling the food and as a person who didn't really care what she ate, Vanni simply went along with the silly rule. But there was a memory- one of the few memories of the "before" time that didn't hurt- with sung of warm pastry and sweet fruits. Gingerly, she picked up the last of the four variations of donuts and bit into it, pleased to find a sugary-tart strawberry taste. Breaking off a piece for Phoebe, she looked up and said, "Thank you for the items. What's the mission?"
"Don't get too comfortable seeing eachother, while your next assignment goes towards the same result it'll be by different means" She'd take a sip of her coffee, savoring it before putting the cup down and swallowing what was left, then continuing. "Right now you're both missing that which shows you belong here. Jade, I want you to go see the watchmaker in emerald city. He'll need two things; a cell battery, which he provides himself, and some sort of stinger or needle, preferably pre-tipped with poison. You can get these from either some sort of cactus or cactus pokemon, a nidoran or any of it's relatives, beedrill...be creative.
"to get to Emerald City, you will need to pass through Yellow Forest first." a map would be handed over to him courtesy of his professors Togetic. "Here's a map of it. It's not an overly complicated place to go through but you don't want to get lost in there..."
She'd look over at Vanni then. "Your very own nidoran is usablefor the needles, but as she is unevolved she should only be able to provide enough for you only - no sharing. Considering this, though, I've found a better way to put your skills to use than just making you go to the city and back" read; I'm going to make things more challenging than they have to be. "The watchmaker runs out of cell batteries eventually, and as one should assume he orders more. Though the last few times he's asked for a shipment they've come in rather...short."
"at first it was that some seem used heavily or entirely unusable. Later on a few would come in missing, and lately it's been to the point where entire bags would come in empty or not at all. This is, of course, bad for his business and we've gotten a report"
"Now, reading over it I've found that it coincides with the reports of used or stolen products arriving at the power plant, which is where the delivery truck for these sorts of things passes by. We've reason to believe that the cause of all this battery thieving is to be found there"
"Vanni, I'll need you to go out to the power plant and talk with the manager for further instruction on what to do about the situation. It's not terribly hard to find as it's close to the academy and has a sign out the front, and the only thing I'll ask of you is that you remember to take this" she'd hand the smaller child a plain white ID card of sorts, on the front her name, age, and some other misc. info while on the back some odd numbers and a barcode. "The guards at the gate would give you a hard time if you don't, though I assume the manager has something for when you get past them so that you won't have to constantly flash it about. "
She'd turn her chair inwards to face her laptop, tip-tap-typing away at it. "That's all, so you may take your leave whenever you're ready"
Vanni wasn't sure if she was disappointed or pleased about not having to partner up. Pleased, probably- she hated waiting around on other people, and had never quite mastered the art of companionship. She was too odd, too spacey, too brimming with daydreams and nightmares for most people to actively want to associate with. Instead, she reached up and lightly scratched her Nidoran's ears as Professor Stratton spoke.
Phoebe bristled cheerfully, shaking her lavender spikes with pride. True, she hadn't fully managed to unlock her poisonous potential in any sort of actual attack yet, but she was at least saving her trainer a trip or two.
Someone tampering with school goods? Battery thieves? (why would you steal a battery) Well, at least it would be interesting. Logically, she should have been lamenting the overly-complicated plan, but she had her orders. Besides, who didn't like a good mystery? To the power plant she would go! Vanni took the ID card, looking it over curiously. It was a bit disconcerting to realize the Academy had accesses to personal info (did it really need her weight seriously why was that a thing), but at last it would help her.
Ready to go, she found herself once again face to face with the boy from before, who instantly started babbling. Regal... the name instantly took on a bad association even before she remembered who it belonged to. The irritatingly all-knowing Slowking from the Aether who'd straddled Vanni with half-answers and a useless Pokeball... and who the Lady Jasmine had mentioned as bad news. But the feelings of discontent were brushed away soon enough as she finally recalled the boy's- or rather, Jade's- face: the nervous youth who'd gotten the drop on her and ran, so to speak. So they had been running into each other a lot. How odd. She was about to say something to him (possibly something to mollify that adorable if trying stutter), but he had already left the classroom.
Ah well. They were classmates, and provided he didn't drop out (or die like all the rest why hello darling you're feeling talkative how are you go away you know perfectly well why I can't do that or would you like to shut up leave me alone as you wish), there was a good chance they'd meet again. Vanni shrugged and checked her purse once again. Satisfied that she had everything she could use, she nodded to Professor Stratton, and took off.
"Hey, Professor!"
The girl would return there looking for the man ...her mind completely forgetting that there had been a switch as she walks in carefully scanning the room for him.
Though there was a change, and this would be the very first time she took a mission from the woman herself if she was there .....as Victoria walked in slowly. She needed help, and for once, she was swallowing her pride to look for it.
