Appropriately sulking in his corner, Asch's green eyes lifted as he caught movement across the room and saw a couple familiar faces, and some not so familiar. Some idiot with black hair was waving at him, and the red head simply scowled at him. But the scowl faded a bit as he caught sight of Faleen, also gesturing for him to join them. Aila was over there as well.

He turned his face away and continued to, what some might call, pout. Although he'd be most offended if anyone even suggested such a ridiculous notion. In his mind, Asch didn't pout. No, he was just in a bad mood, and he had just reason to be. Apparently not interested in joining the group of Rockets, just what were they doing here anyway, he just kept to himself.

Eventually a waitress brought him a drink, and he simply held it between his hands for several moments. Green eyes staring at the contents, his expression distant.

Oh, a complement from Frost. Xander gave the other man a brilliant grin as he squished down the butterflies in his stomach. "Thank you, I'm glad I didn't offend your ears. A drink sounds lovely yes. I wouldn't touch anything alcoholic anyway, I don't like the taste, smell or the effects." he said with a chuckle. Alcohol was only useful in the cooking of some of the dishes he knew in his opinion so not having any would not be a crime in his book.

Xander spotted the newcomer that hid his self in the corner but didn't recognize him as he hadn't met him or read his file yet. Hopefully what ever was wrong would stop bothering the long haired man soon. But he was distracted from that as he listened to the conversations around him. "Some people just like to socialize, some like to sing, others like to dance and quite a few like to drink. Then there are people who like to do a mix and so, places like this are born and thrive." he said to the group.

"Eh? Really?" Orihara asked Faleen when she mentioned this was the first outing their group had had. "What a shame; no wonder so few people seem to know what they're doing. You must all not be used to celeberations or relaxation. Not that I can say I'm surprised," he added with a grin. "In that case, I'm glad to have been the one to bring a few reluctant bookworms and introverts out of their comfort zones for a little while."

Izaya glanced at Aila meaningfully. He clicked his tongue pityingly. "So many missions, so many dangers, and yet a little social interaction is too much for some people to handle. Sad, really."

It hadn't seemed to occur to the informant that such a gathering could be dangerous. Sure, maybe police came to bars to gather information or keep drunkards from getting out of hand in bar-fights. It didn't seem likely that they'd show up here, though. And even if they did, what were the chances any of them would be recognized? Indeed, even if they were recognized, on what grounds could they be arrested for? Having a good time? Singing absurd songs? Talking about mechanical arms and maintaining more-complex-than-average discussions about how they worked?

If a few cops stumbled in, there was always a small bribe or a minor threat that could keep some mouths shut. Extortion was always a good one. What better people to thrive on the corruption of the city's law enforcement than members of a criminal organization? No, Izaya was pretty certain they were safe.

"Such harsh words!" the trainee cried in response to Aila, sounding hurt. "If you cover someone's eyes with a blindfold and lead them into a dark room for a party, do you call that deception? Obviously there has to be some secrets, or it wouldn't be a surprise!" Izaya pointed out. "Besides, be honest - if I had told you what this was about and sent you an e-mail like everyone else, would you have come?" He beamed at her. "In fact, I don't think you're the only one who came here against their will. But I like to take it as a good sign!" He nodded toward Frost and Xander. "See? They're bonding, like teammates should. Good, quality teammate time. There needs to be more of that."

"Ahhhh, but I didn't blow you off," he protested. "I just wanted to finish my song. Was that too much to ask? And you didn't want to dance with me through it, so I didn't get a chance to discuss this whole party with you after. How can you pin that one on me?"

He blinked a second before laughing. "Aila-chan," he gasped through giggles. "I won't lie. I've tricked many people before in multiple ways. This, though, was definitely not a trick. Not something I'd consider a trick, anyway." Waving a hand, he reiterated, "It's like the surprise birthday party. Only a truly sensitive person would consider such an event to be a 'trick'. Why can't you just relax and enjoy it?"

He was beginning to wonder if the girl was just holding a grudge from the incident with Seth. "Why would I trick my own teammate into coming to a party? I mean, sure, I get to be here and watch all the excitement, but I could have just as easily snuck out with one of the many other grunts or agents, right?"

"Give a little thought to the nature of our group before you find it so pitiable that so many of us prefer to keep to ourselves," she interjected. What did he expect of a criminal organization? Social butterflies? Everyone there was there for a reason, and she would bet money that that reason had painfully little to do with parties.

"That depends," she countered against his example. "Did you originally tell the person you were taking them to a room where they could wait quietly for a bit and then go back to what they were doing? And why do they need to be blindfolded? Isn't it better to just be upfront with your intentions?" Perhaps that part of her stemmed from her instincts to always be aware of her environment and circumstances; surprises, more often than not, led to botched plans and narrow escapes. "Honestly, from just the e-mail, no. However, if you'd been truthful about your reasons for inviting me when you did, it would be a different situation entirely." She might have even been faintly grateful to hear such concern for her well-being, but any gratitude she could feel now was burning away into irritation. "And the fact that I'm not the only one here who would very much prefer to be elsewhere is a comfort to me why?"

The laughter wore her final nerve a bit too thin. He was really enjoying himself, wasn't it? This was funny to the trainee. He would keep on arguing until the sun came up, smiling the whole time. Enough was enough. Her hand fell heavily against the table as she turned to face her company fully, her posture authoritative and her expression dark.

"Izaya Orihara, allow me to be quite frank. You are not convincing me of anything. I am not going to relax simply because you feel it's what I should do. I do not appreciate being lied to. I will personally see to your reprimand if you continue to harass me. Is this clear?"

Hearing some obnoxious laughter from the other side of the room, Asch's eyes narrowed in irritation as the sound split through his thoughts in a rather unwelcome manner. He tilted his gaze up to look, and saw the idiot that had been waving at him before. It only took him a few moments to realize that he was harassing his partner. And while Asch didn't know Aila all that well yet, it caused him to inwardly bristle.

Still, it was none of his business, and thus Asch tried to ignore it. Even as the nerve grating laughter continued. He would like to throttle that moron himself and make him choke on his own larynx.

"I have. As I recall, you - we - have a name that starts with the word 'Team'. Given that, I'd assume we'd be of a more social nature; or at least amiable towards one another, if not others. It wouldn't do to have coworkers in our profession despising one another, would it?" He figured Aila had gotten her withdrawn mentality from the nature of her work as a freelance thief prior to joining Team Rocket. Then again, it was she who had told him all about being a team and how he would have to cooperate with others, hadn't it?

Ooh, she was going to play that game. Then again, she had a point there. "It's no fun if you're upfront with your intentions," Izaya sighed. "That's what makes it a surprise. And if the person goes back to what they were doing, then there's really no point of having prepared the party, now is there?"

This girl, he decided, hadn't lived a normal childhood and thus had been deprived of things such as 'surprise birthday parties'. Therefore, he didn't believe she could properly visualize the scenario. What she was imagining as she countered with her argument, he suspected, was probably something closer to an enemy ambush on a mission.

Orihara pulled out his phone. Still about half an hour left. Where was his tea? Oh, right, he'd left the cup over at the table he had previously sat at. The table that was now red-head's. The trainee stood to go retrieve it. "You want the truth? Alright, Miss De Valois. In truth, I really do have a client. Two, actually. I'm not scheduled to meet them until a little later, but I might as well leave now. Perhaps you'll enjoy yourself a little better. If not, feel free to go home and do as you wish. This is a rare night off for you, isn't it?"

At the agent's frank remark, the trainee sighed and nodded once slowly. "Crystal, Agent Aila. Pardon me for the 'harrassment'. I'll trouble you no longer this evening."

With a wan smile, Nakura tugged on his suit and headed back toward the corner table. The narrowed gaze glaring in the direction of the table he'd just been at was something of a surprise, but it didn't deter the brunette from his goal. Halting before the red-haired man, the informant bent over ever so slightly to address him.

"Excuse me, but would you pass me my tea cup just across from you? Forgetful little me; I left it there just a few minutes ago. I'd hate to have to reach over for it and spill your drink."

Faleen had watched the whole exchange between Aila and Izaya, with a hand tucked gently under her chin, and her eyebrows arched over her hazel eyes,
Not interjecting since this was something Agent Aila was in control over.
Faleen would cast a glance over to Asch every now and than, who seemed to have ignored her gesture, and was... more or less.... in a bad mood it seemed.

Yup This was definitely a Rocket event.
She smiled lightly, though in cautionary kind of way when Izaya got up and walked over to the table Asch was at... oh... hum.
PostPosted: Tue May 17, 2011 4:12 am

Frost briefly set Xander out of his mind, focusing instead on Izaya with thoughtfully pursed lips. When the brat wandered away, he turned to Aila and raised his eyebrows slightly. "Your charge has 'clients'?" the small blond murmured, leaning over so that only she could hear him. "I was under the impression that moonlighting was discouraged, and for a man walking on thin ice as it is... Unless he is under instruction to meet these 'clients'? I cannot imagine he would be trusted with such a thing in his position. Mmh. If you have any lingering regard for him, perhaps you ought to warn him to be careful lest the ice crack." Personally he would be amused if Izaya was caught, eviscerated, and then hung with his own intestines but that was just him.

Turning back to Xander, Frost nodded slightly. "A drink then. What would you like? Fruit juice? Some kind of fizzy drink? Tea or coffee perhaps?" Maybe after one drink it would be acceptable for him to leave. Maybe he would leave whether it was acceptable or not. He didn't mind if he seemed anti-social, all that mattered here was not seeming too... too desperate to get out, get in the car, get away... One drink, have one drink and then assess the situation again. Staying for one drink would not kill him...

Oh, it was Inigo. He really must be distracted if he hadn't registered the boy's presence and thought it odd. "We did," he nodded, "and I did. You may still call me that if you please... I trust you are enjoying yourself?" Well at least he'd managed a polite question, that was a small victory against the whirl of invading stimuli that were trying to take him over.

As the trainee deparated, Aila returned to her earlier posture, arms folded on the table and head resting against them. She was still indignant, but a certain sense of guilt pervaded as well... Was that really the best she could have handled that? She suspected-- No, she was sure that things had become too personal at some point, likely from the first moment she realized she hadn't heard the truth. A higher rank alone didn't lend professionalism to all her actions. Professionalism was born from a culmination of patience, a want to understand and assist, and a flexible point of view. How many of those had she exhibited? None at all. Stubbornness, self-righteousness, and indignation had dominated her half of the exchange. How graceless...

She lifted her head slightly at Frost's words. "He said it was an engagement he had arranged before joining," she replied in equally quiet tones. "I don't know if that's true or not... Either way, I don't really have any choice but to keep an eye on him." He required a supervising officer as long as he was off-base, after all; besides, she was doing that already, especially as he approached Asch. Arceus, she hoped he didn't do something to aggravate Asch...

The scowl on Asch's face said enough as Izaya approached his table, still he said nothing until the idiot opened his mouth first. The request for the drink was granted, although none too gently as the red head leaned over to slide the glass across the table towards Izaya.

"Shut up," he muttered irritably, already tired of hearing this guy's voice.

"And leave Aila alone." This said as he then lifted his drink to take a sip.

Hopefully this guy would just take his drink and be gone. Little did he know that Izaya was Aila's assigned project.

Trainee Nakura blinked. He took his tea curiously, wondering what the man's problem was until Aila's name was mentioned. He glanced back at the teen and then back at Asche with a devious little smile, unable to hide his amusement at this new link. Armed with that new knowledge, he really couldn't just let things go.

"Well, I hope you're having a fine time too," he replied sarcastically, finishing off his now-cold tea. So this must have been a Rocket as well, unless he knew Aila from elsewhere, which Izaya highly doubted. It wasn't impossible, though, so he made a mental note not to mention any Rocket business.

"As far as Aila goes, I just did. I thought you would have known that since you seemed to be watching while sulking here all by your lonesome. Or was your order to leaver her alone long-term?" At that, his cocky grin grew. "My...by such a direct demand from someone I don't even know, I have to ask where this protectiveness comes from. Are you her boyfriend, fiancée, lover...? Or someone else romantically involved, perhaps?" Chuckling lightly, Izaya set his empty cup back down on the table and actually turned to go.

"In any case, I'm not really interested in knowing, so have a good night," he said with a careless wave behind him at Asch. "Ah...and if you, by chance, happen to know anything about Lukey-kun, say hello to him for me, would you?" he added without turning around. After all, Izaya knew a thing or two about twins. As it happened, he was just headed out to meet a pair. "The resemblance is uncanny," Orihara giggled, heading toward the bar exit.

Oh dear, If Faleen learned one thing about working with someone like Seth, it was that when someone had that look on their face, they were not likely to have much in the way of patience.
She didn't know Asch's behaviros as well as she did Seth, so she wasn't sure how he would react, but that wasn't a look that indicated that Asch had much more tolerance this particular night.

And from Faleen's experience, Izaya was nothing but consistent with the kind of behavior he had shown to other people, particularly ones in a bad mood.
She couldn't imagine this was going to end well at all, even as Izaya made his way to the exit, Though the mannerism, tone and slight change in his expression had been something new she had seen, and honestly not expected. Was he actually bothered?

"Please excuse me, I will be right back." Faleen said with a nod to the others as she pushed herself off of her seat. In and attempt to defuse any situation that might arise from this, Faleen reaching out a polite gesture with her hand to Asch, giving him a slight shake of her head, trying to indicate for him to just forget about it, at least until they got back to base, than nodded him toward where Aila was sitting. before she continued on toward the exit after Izaya.

She spoke once she was close enough to be heard.
"I hope you don't mind if I join you for shot time, the lights are starting to get to me." Its not like he exactly had a choice, she was higher rank than him after all.
She liked the dark anyway, as did her Umbreon who was hot on her heels.
A part of why she wanted to go did also have to do with the fact that she didn't trust him. For the time being, an Agent or other Rocket should keep an eye on him, and Aila did seem like she needed a breather.

The drink he had been intending to swallow was suddenly going down the wrong pipe as Asch choked upon Izaya's assumption that he and his partner were romantically involved. A spray of liquid leaving his mouth in surprise before he hacked a couple of times. What the hell?! "Of course not!" the red haired agent protested. Where the hell would he get that kind of absurd idea!

And then Izaya mentioned the name that was the last thing he wanted to hear at the moment. Gritting his teeth, he moved to stand, but caught sight of Faleen out of the corner of his eye. Growling under his breath, Asch sat himself down again with a huff.

That guy knew that idiot too? Well... birds of a feather after all, but still. Even more agitated than before, Asch continued to sulk as he quickly downed more of his drink. His eyes darting towards Aila once before resting his chin in one hand and glowering at the wall instead.
PostPosted: Wed May 18, 2011 12:02 pm

Giggling quietly to himself as he heard the choking behind him, Izaya still refrained from turning around. He discovered a few things from Asch's reaction. For one, he probably had some business with Aila; his association with her was something more serious than a family, friend, or romantic relationship. Another thing was that he had been right in his hunch that the red-head knew Luke. He hadn't needed to ask to know to whom Izaya had been referring.

Evidently, this man had more self control than Seth and wouldn't be throwing his tea cup or anything else at him just now. Knowing this, the trainee decided he wouldn't need the microphone he had been holding to defend himself and thus put it down on the bar counter as he headed out.

Oh? Someone was following him, but he doubted it was the red-head. The footfalls were too light to be a man's, it seemed. Or, at least, an angry man's. Faleen's voice reached him as he went through the door and he paused just outside the bar. Nope, the girls were not in sight yet. Just as well. He didn't think they'd have the sense to lay low or keep their mouths shut if they saw him with a young woman. At least Mairu wouldn't have.

"Faleen-san! Not at all; it's a pleasure," he replied gleefully, turning to face her with a bright smile on his face. "But surely someone who works in a lab on late nights can't be all that particularly bothered by the dim fixtures in this place," he added more quietly, his smile fading a little. "What can I do for you?"

Folding her hands behind her back as she stepped outside the door, letting it close behind her when she caught up with Izaya.
Umbreon took a few strides ahead of her, shaking himself out once they were out of that bar.
Much better.

At his comment she returned with a more subtle smile of her own. "They are not that similar."
Her gaze was cast over to the line of cars, recognizing the ones that belonged to Rocket.
Before returning her attention to Izaya, arms crossing over her chest. "You are a trainee on probation, I'm just stepping in for Aila until she's ready." She answered, not even trying to lie to him.
"Aside from that."
She paused, glancing down to Umbreon before nodding a head "Go out." The agent instructed.

At those words, the Umbreon slicked his ears back, red eyes darting over to the man, narrowing slightly before streaking off into the darkness of the streets. Hazel eyes watched him go before returning her attention onto Izaya once more, regarding him with her usual professionalism.
"So you are the one responsible for setting all of this up than?"
