While the feline was a bit disappointed that he had only scored a single fish with his first two attempts, they were certainly better than nothing. Food was food, fish was always a welcome meat source as far as he was concerned.

So, after retrieving the second fish he'd caught, the net went back into the water.

It wasn't like there was anything else on this bloody ship to do, might as well catch as much as he could...

It wasn't until after he'd cast the net out for a third time that he heard Riley address him. Hauling up the net as he turned his attention to her, he shrugged lightly. "Couldn't hurt, I'm not exactly used to using a net..."

That was when he looked down to notice that he hadn't caught jack this time, which made him look all the more displeased than usual.

A half smile, he was grateful she had at least tried to help, clearly he could use all the help he could get. Well, maybe what she'd showed him could still help, after all there were still more fish out there right? So he could try again, and maybe he'd catch another fish.

Or maybe not. Another boot? Seriously? Where were all these boots coming from? A disappointed grunt, Sheridan tossed the boot onto the deck with the other one. They weren't even a matched set.

And here she went again. She pushed herself off the railing and patted Sheridan's back softly as he pulled up another boot, her eyes twinkling in amusement. Then she stood behind Deacon, and moved into the same position she had with the others.

Okay. Make sure you cast the net far, because fish aren't hanging out at the edge of the boat. It's making too much noise as it is. So, She put her arms against his, and helped him get a good throw out. Once you have the net settled in the water, hold the line here and don't move. Don't shake your hands, or twitch, or let the line move in any way. You'd be surprised how easy the vibrations can travel through to the water. Stay as still as you can.

Her hands rested on top of his, making sure they remained still. And most importantly, do not haul this net back in until you feel the pull of something caught in it. And the harder the pull, the better. So if you feel something small, feel free to ignore it and keep waiting. Though.. I just don't know if there's any more turtles out there, the way we've been hauling them up.. She eyed the four behind them.

Text sent, and now everyone had managed to catch something...Junko wanted to keep fishing. The fact that she had managed to actually catch a turtle had greatly lifted her spirits. But now her net, the one thing she was able to fish with, was stuck under the rolling turtle. She was dubbing this turtle Mr. Angry, because he was very angry.

Junko frowned and stepped closer to the turtle for a moment, gasping and jumping back again as it roared at her. Very, very angry turtle. She took half a step toward it and immediately skittered back away from it when it roared again. She needed her net back! How could...she...

...Maybe Riley could help! She'd kicked one earlier! "Um...Riley? Could you help me?" She pointed toward the net that was stuck under Mr. Angry.

Sheridan was getting tired. How many times had he cast that damn net out there and hauled it back now? He'd lost count, but it had been enough that his arms now ached from the effort. How pathetic, he was already running out of steam and he hadn't even caught more than one fish at a time.

Maybe he should just stop there, he had caught some fish even if he hadn't caught a big one. Well, what would one more try hurt? Alright then, once more and then he was taking a break, and by taking a break he meant he was going to go flop down somewhere.

Not expecting to catch more than a single fish or another old boot, Sheridan was nearly yanked over the railing by the sudden tug on his net. Whoa, either he was more tired than he thought, or there was a big fish in his net!

No, not a big fish, a whole bunch of fish! Struggling to keep his hold on the net, taloned feet grasping at the deck for leverage, Sheridan fought with the net. Arrgg, he felt like his arms were going to fall off, but he wasn't going to give up. He almost had it, a last tug and...fish spilled out over the deck, nearly sending him slipping off his feet to land on his rear.

Whew! Okay, now he was exhausted, he was going to go sit over there now.

After she finished guiding Deacon through the best method of fishing, she turned to hear Junko's request. She let go of Deacon as softly as she could so as not to disturb the net. Okay. Good luck - if you need me again just ask.

She turned to look at Junko's dilemma, and her eyes wilted a bit in dismay. She sighed, and nodded her head. Okay.. She took a step towards the turtle, and it snapped it's head at her fiercely. She paused, and then lifted her hands up and cracked her knuckles. Riley moved to it's side, and pushed it back onto it's feet - the turtle immediately began hobbling towards her once it had its bearings, hissing and spitting angrily. It moved off of the net, and Riley continued to back up to lead it away.

Grab it, Junko. Riley commanded, as she led the turtle around the deck.

Nuk watched with a distinct air of boredom as the others struggled with fishing, his posture emitting extreme laziness and self-importance as he laughed at the problems the other students were having. Except Riley, of course. The demon seemed to excel at virtually everything she did, and fishing was no exception, with her pulling in two turtles within the span of a few minutes. Of course, had she not done so well, Nuk still would not have laughed -- he'd gotten a purple nurple for a joke, ffs, and besides, he respected Riley -- but as it were it gave him a chance to whoop and holler like a nutter, so he was content regardless. Still, as more and more people asked for help, the skinwalker's demeanor visibly changed a little, lazy posture straightening a little against the deck as he watched, gold eyes glittering mischievously. And... perhaps a little enviously? One eyebrow quirked a little as she practically draped herself over Deacon to help him cast his fishing line, his mouth turning up in a smirk. Junko's call was the last straw, apparently, lean body pushing off of where he had been lounging against the railing, sauntering over to where the rest of the students were.

"Hey Riley, can I have a hand too~?" He crooned in a decidedly naughty tone, winking at her and just barely brushing against her in a teasing fashion as he moved past her, glancing over his shoulder as he passed, "I need a nice firm touch."

He was pushing his luck, and he knew it. He was going to get hell for it. Still, there just must have been something in Nuk that needed to push things way too far, an impulse control that must have been broken when he'd been dropped on his head as a kid. Or maybe he just liked it rough. And by rough, more like beaten-to-a-pulp.

Not sticking around to see if Riley did, in fact, punch him in the face (or twist his nipples again, or throw him overboard, or...) he sidled towards Junko, glancing at her net before back up at her, grinning in a much more innocent way.

"Hey Junnie-bee, need a hand? Or wouldya prefer Riley do it. I know, she's hotter than me, I don't blame ya."

Junko waited patiently for Riley to come to her, sighing with relief when the demon ghoul agreed. She was glad now that she had a strong friend like her that could help her, and was willing to help her. She'd have to thank her somehow! Junko was worried for her safety as she flipped the turtle over, instinctively stepping close to try and help her if she needed it. But let's face it, how helpful could Junko be against a crazy turtle with anger issues?

When instructed to grab the new Junko did just that, picking it up and rushing to the railing to throw it over the edge and into the water. While she had a tight grip on the net her gaze was focused on Riley, hoping she'd be alright with Mr. Angry. Suddenly she heard the voice that made her skin crawl, the voice of a certain Skinwalker. Geh! How long had he been there?! She looked away from Riley to Nukpana as he addressed her, actually giving him a little smile when it seemed he was going to play nice and not be a total annoying jerk. She had to admit, she liked the name Junnie-bee. It was cute. "It's alright. Thank you, Nu--oh! I got something~!" She gasped and tugged the net back up, totally expecting something that was actually edible.

...Oh...a boot.

"...You're a dog, right? Don't dogs eat boots?" Junko asked Nukpana innocently, grinning up at him. Hey! She was trying to be funny! Was it working? Huh? Huh? Please say it was working. Pleasedon'thitmepleasedon'thitmepleasedon'thitme! "Maybe you should help Riley with Mr. Angry instead?"

Riley felt Nuk brush against her, but her focus was solely on the turtle that came for her - so she didn't quite let his words sink in. As Junko snagged the net, Riley crouched down, forcing herself into a rather animalistic pounce. With a quick movement that no turtle was able to handle, she moved to the turtles side and slid one leg over the shell.

Oh yes, she was most definitely riding the turtle.

The long neck of the turtle bent backwards to try and attack her, but she blocked it by sliding her arm around it's neck and pulling it taut. There she held the turtle in a sleeper hold, as it struggled and thrashed against her.

Then it struggled a little less.

Just a little less.

And then it fell asleep.

She dropped the turtles head out of her hand, and it flopped lifelessly onto the deck with a thump. This was around the time she registered Nuk's comment, and her eyes lifted to meet his. Now why would anyone request Riley's firm touch when she'd just wrestled a giant sea turtle down? Oh Nuk, how brave and foolhardy you are.

She slid off of the turtles back, taking a few long and measured strides to come face to face with him. Her eyes were slit thin, but there was no anger there. No, her expression was entirely indecipherable - even when she was inches away. Not that she stopped there, of course. She continued walking forward, which would either by proximity or by sheer pressing force Nuk to take a few steps back.

Oh, of course I'll help you, Nuk. Her silken voice emitted. It sounded just a touch too low to be up to any good. I'm sure I can help you get what you're looking for.

A few more steps forward - or back, in Nuk's case, and he would find himself pressed against the railing of the boat. Both of her hands reached out to grab the railing, trapping him within.

Hm.. but you don't have a net. She sounded disappointed. Well, you're a big, strong boil. I bet you can catch them with your bare hands. Right?

One hand lifted off the railing, and rested on his chest.

Here, a firm touch to help you get started.

And she pushed him overboard.

Unfortunately, as she did so, a rope that was dangling by the railing tangled between him and her hand. As it did so, it pulled her down overboard headfirst.

Double splash.

"I am not a dog!" Nuk replied indignantly, his barking laugh breaking any chance of him being convincing (both in the case of him being angry and of him not being a dog.) There was a distinct pause as this sunk in a little, his eyes tilting upwards as he clearly thought about what she said, and his hands went still on the net, as if he could not multi-task. Which he couldn't. At all. Thinking and walking? Are you crazy? "... ok, well, figuratively I am a dog, and I can literally be a dog but..." he continued after a second in a thoughtful tone, the corners of his mouth curled up a bit in a bewildered but obviously amused expression. Hm. She might... have had a point.

Pausing another moment, he grinned a little wider, giving her a mock-angry look and reaching over to snatch the boot up. "... gimme that boot," he half laughed, half growled, lifting it up so he could sink his canine teeth into the leather, shaking his head in a playful dog-like manner. If only to get Junko to smile again. She was gonna ruin his reputation at this rate!

Chewing a little more on the boot, he snickered at the raven-haired girl's last half-question, that 'debonair' quality returning to his grin. "Oh I'll help Riley all right," He boasted with a wicked look, flashing Junko his teeth around the leather still dangling from his mouth.

But it seemed Riley did not need help at all. In fact, it was almost scary, how well Riley was doing in... well, everything she was doing on this trip. Scary good and scary bad. There was a great amount of respect in his eyes as the purple demon literally mounted the turtle (HAWT) and proceeded to quickly end its life, his eyebrows lifted high as he watched. In fact, he almost gave a whistle, before she slid off the lifeless turtle's back and straightening in a distinctly stirring way, and suddenly he was swallowing that sound, going rigid as she moved towards him. Oooooh hell. Eyes locked firmly with hers, (with quite a bit of effort,) Nuk stayed firmly where he was until he felt the distinct feeling of her body pressing against his own, realizing in that moment that she was NOT going to lose this game of chicken and taking a few steps backwards, each of her steps mirrored with one of his own. Letting the boot dangle from his mouth, his eyes widened slightly in surprise as her voice filled his mind in that low, silken tone, surprise almost comically etched into his expression.

"Uh..."

His mouth falling open a little, boot promptly falling out of his mouth, he glanced away from her only to look back at the railing that was suddenly pressed against his back, his hands reaching out to grab it, hers following is if they really were mirrored. Trapping him there. In a normal situation, he would have been distinctly agitated by this gesture of being caged, a carnal dislike bubbling forward, and he might have impulsively lashed out. In this instance, however, there was a very different carnal emotion at work, and instead he stood shock-still, watching her place her hand on his chest, forced to pay attention to what she was saying because of the words slithering teasingly into his mind.

And then suddenly he was falling.

When he came back up with a gasped breath, Nukpana was panting, although not for the same reason as he might have been before, treading water quickly beside the boat.

"COLD! HELLS JACKING BELLS, DAMN THE WATER'S COLD!"

Junko squeaked as Nuk barked about not being a dog, almost worried she was in trouble. Had she gone too far? She had, hadn't she! She knew it! Damnit! She didn't want to actually upset him! She was just trying to be funny! Honest! But he seemed to be...thinking...? Junko blinked and just stared at him as he tried to process information, going on about how he kind of really was a dog and...huh...did she break his mind or something?

As his grin grew wider a feeling of dread grew in the pit of her stomach, that was until he grabbed the boot...and promptly tried to actually eat it. Junko couldn't help but laugh for the first time in days, one of her hands coming up to her mouth to try and muffle it. Haha! He looked so silly!

Suddenly Riley was approaching them and walking right up to Nuk, forcing him to walk backwards with her own body. What...what was Riley doing? Junko blushed as she watched the way her friend pushed Nuk up against the railing and trapped him. Oh, Jack! It was just like in those stupid books Calder had given her! Why, Calder! WHY?! She hugged the net tightly to her chest and watched on with wide eyes, very confused as to what was going on. Riley loved Malodore, didn't she? And Nukpana had Shehk! Neither of them seemed the unfaithful type, even if Nuk was annoying as hell he wouldn't go so low as to go around behind Shehk's--WHERE HAD THAT GHOUL COME FROM?! "U-um..hello! What?" A text message? Junko blinked and looked down at the phone, writing out the first thing that came to mind. As she finished she heard the loud splashing and Nuk's cry of cold water, gasping as she practically shoved the phone back at Desu-chan and grabbed her net again, running to the railing where her two friends had just been.

"NUK!? RILEY!? Oh, Jack..! Uh...um..." She looked around frantically for help, gripping her net tightly. Someone help! They might now drown but...but what if something got them?!

Wait...Junko could help! The ghoul frowned and threw her net over the railing again but this time her aim wasn't for fish, it was for the mindflayer and the skinwalker. Why this ghoul thought she was strong enough to support their weight we'll never know, but she was at least going to try! "Grab on quick! I-I'll pull you up!" Or try, anyway! But Junko wasn't going to include the word 'try' lest she panic herself or anyone else. They'd be okay! Riley had fallen overboard before and saved herself, right? This time Junko was going to try to help them!
PostPosted: Sun Mar 13, 2011 11:40 pm
The split second when Riley hadn't been falling overboard was a pleasant one. She enjoyed the look of dumbfound shock on Nuk's face. In fact, she ate it up. It was almost as good as FEAR. Unfortunately she couldn't enjoy it for long - because she was snagged and tumbled headfirst into the ocean right beside Nuk. She didn't hear him cry out, because she was still underwater - but when she emerged, she quickly reached out to him with several tentacles and reeled him in and held on tight. She was the only one still attached to the ship, after all - the last thing she actually wanted was for Nuk to go floating off on his own.

Relax, the cold water will do you some good. She shivered as she spoke. I think you could use the cooling down. Besides, it's nicer than the sticky fog feeling. Well, to her it was.

Come on, we can climb up using this rope-

A net slammed into both of their heads. Riley submerged back underwater at its weight, only to pop up again and glare at the net on her head. She looked up at Junko, and stared. Did she think she would be able to haul up a net filled with both her and Nukpana - or hell, even just ONE of them? Junko clearly had no idea how much a person weighed..

Uhhh.. I don't think this is going to work, Junko. Riley tugged on the net, putting only her upper half of her weight on it just to show Junko how improbable the idea of pulling them up would be. We're not fish.

Still a little flustered by...things, LW decided it would be wisest to avoid standing next to the railing. What if she fell into the water? Doggy paddling would only work so well for a certain amount of time. And that water looked cold. She was quite happy with the fact she had caught a turtle. Would she be pushing her luck to try one last time?

Thankfully, she didn't have to find out the answer to that just yet. The sudden appearance of their first mate, Desu chan. What...what did she want? LW blinked owlishly at the faces she was making and the hearts. Then glanced at the phone she held out. What...oh. OH! A sly grin spread and LW nodded, quickly snatching up the phone to send a quick message.

Mischievous deed out of the way, LW went to try her hand one final time at fishing...just in time to see Riley and the skinwalker go tumbling towards the water. OH JACK! She ran over to Junko and snatched part of the net to help her hold it, bracing her feet in preparation for the extra weight. Really? How had the two of them gone overboard in the first place? LW was seriously starting to consider their boat the FAIL!BOAT.
