Tsu brought her attention back to the present and looked at Akura a little confused. She gave the waitress her order and smiled back at him. "Not sure. We kind of moved from one thing to the next."

" Hm, I guess your right." He told her as he began to eat from the ramen bowl slowly. " So Tsu, I don't think I've asked you this before..." He told her pausing for a moment, finishing his ramen. " Why did you become a ninja?" He asked her, resting his head on his fist.

Tsu started slurping up some ramen and stared at Akura as he asked his question. She ate it up and thought back. As she thought about why she wanted to become a ninja she realized that those reasons weren't really valid anymore. "Well..." she paused "The reason was to prove to everyone and myself that i wasn't worthless being blind and that I could even make it as a ninja now." She pushed herself because of her former guardian. Ageha wanted her to do more and Tsu didn't want to let her down, unfortunately that hadn't gotten her anywhere. "Guess now i have to come up with another reason, or just stick with wanting to support my friends and village." She smiled.

Hearing her speaking, Akura smiled, but something of what she said sparked some disconfort in him, more like rage. " Worthless...?" He questioned and paused, moving his left hand slowly and making it rest on the boy's sword. "Who the hell sid that?" He then asked her closing his eyes and letting out a sigh. " I'll make sure to make his head roll." He finally added opening his eyes with a serious look to his face. " Supporting your village; that's a good reason, lacks passion a bit, but that could work." He then added, moving his left hand off his sword and looking up toward the ceiling. ' What the hell are you saying kid? Lacks passion? If I had hands I'd slap you right now!' His inner self nagged to him, but Akura simply looked toward the outside of the ramen shop. ' Shut up...' He then told his inner self, but he was far from doing so.

Tsu laughed at Akura's reaction. She'd have to find another reason for becoming a ninja, but for now, what she had was good enough. She continued eating ramen while talking with him. He got up and said he had to continue with another mission. Tsu waived him goodbye and finished eating. She had felt better now that she had eaten. She got up and stretched. She figured she go back to training. Now that she had sever lightnings styles down, she could continue learning other jutsu.

As soon as the two had left the genin well and truly behind, David turned towards Shinji, still walking, but now paying more attention to the other young man. "So, Shinji..." he spoke, a smile quirking his lips again. "How's your stomach?" It was vague, and David wasn't sure Shinji would even catch it, but he was referring to their fight, so long ago for most, but still so recent for David himself, and more particularly, to the point where Shinji had impaled himself on David's staff.

As he asked his question, they reached their destination, though David began to regret it immediately. The ramen stand, situated as the most readily available source of food in the village, was filthy. The walls looks to be near collapsing, the interior was full of sand, as if it hadn't been swept out in months, with a fine coating over everything, and even the trash bins out back looked to be overflowing with rotting waste. David knew there had been complaints about this place coming in a lot recently, and even missions requested to clean it up, but as they weren't requested by the owners, they were impossible to perform. Business had apparently suffered too, as they hadn't even been paying their taxes for some time.

Not to be deterred however, David made his way inside. With a wave of his hand, the sand coating the stand flew out the door, dragging piles of loose trash with it to make the place look almost presentable, and made his way to a stool near the counter, taking his seat, and gesturing for Shinji to take the next one over before waving for the owner, or worker, whichever it may be, to come over. All the while, he wore a slightly disgusted look as he observed the state of the shop. Even with the sand and trash gone, the place looked near ready to collapse from lack of maintenance. At least Etsushi's home, even with it's obvious lack of care, was structurally sound, leaving aside the fact it wasn't a public building.

Konaga Shinji
| Konaga Clan | Speed/Offensive Type | Iwagakure | Chuunin |
|| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile ||

Following the shinobi through the streets of the Sunagakure, Shinji took in his surroundings, noting that the makeup of the village wasn't all that different from the Iwagakure per say... if the Iwagakure had been pelted by wind and dust for hundreds of years. It would take some time to get used to the blowing winds and the sand/dust flying everywhere, but it didn't really bother Shinji all that much. Truth be told, between the numbness of his senses and his attention to other things, he couldn't even feel the stiff breezes which carried the grainy particulate matter.

Shinji had initially thought that perhaps he would be taken to an office of some kind, or a official building, but as they continued to walk, the area they were in didn't seem like it housed any such buildings. When the silence was suddenly broken, Shinji turned his head towards the man immediately, noting the strange smile on his face as he asked an even stranger question? "My stomach?" Shinji said quizzically as he pondered what the man could mean... but as they approached their destination, the question suddenly made sense... "OH!... my stomach for food. It's rock solid I assure you... there's not much you can do to upset a Konaga's stomach. I'll be fine, but I will admit that I'm a little hungry."

The question made Shinji wonder what was particularly wrong with this food locale, but as he got closer and saw the disheveled mess that tried to pass itself off as a Ramen shack... he understood. Following his escort into the 'establishment' , Shinji was quick to take notice of the way the shinobi simply waved his hand and sent waves of sand flying, the sand dragging with it trash and other material, which in the end made the place almost half-presentable. Still the phenomenon was quite strange. There was no use of hand seals, but then again, some high level shinobi didn't always need hand seals... but it was vaguely reminiscent of something.

Shinji wracked his brain for a few seconds... something coming to mind about sand and that time he found the young boy who could control it in the Chuunin exams. As he thought this, he remembered that the young boy himself didn't seem to use hand seals all the time either. Perhaps this was a secret art of the Sunagakure... it would after all make sense considering their surroundings. he would have to research the phenomenon later and ask questions. For the time being however, Shinji simply stayed quiet and took the seat next to the shinobi as he was beckoned to do and looked around, admiring how the lean-to shack managed to stay upright in the high winds.

"Sooo... what's good here? I'm assuming the ramen?... or is this some kind of strange hazing ritual where you bring all the foreign ninja to the most run down restaurant in town and see how they handle it? Because if that's the case, I'll bet 20 to 1 that I can eat you under the table with whatever dish you put in front of me." Shinji smiled at the competitive offer and hoped the man would take him up on it. Truthfully the competitive bet had simply come naturally a Shinji was always one for combat in any form he could get it. So far the man hadn't been much for words, so Shinji wondered how he would now take it.

David smiled slightly once more as Shinji suggested a contest. The boy was apparently clueless. Good, this was the first time he'd actually been able to make use of his appearance change, and he'd been wanting to ever since he'd woken up. People just seemed to always manage to recognize him. Rather annoying really.

Not letting his thoughts convey to the other boy though, he shook his head, letting it appear as if his amusement was borne from the contest suggestion itself. "I'll pass on that bet. Not sure I'd trust the food here that far." he frowned again, casting a dirty look to the other side of the counter, where there was still plenty of sand and filth decorating the kitchen side of the shop. Shinji's impression of a hazing ritual was definitely not unfounded, even if it was false. If David had known the place was really this bad, he'd have gone to the market and bought something there. It was too late for that though really.

A waitress showed up at this point, before any more words could be exchanged, looking every bit as worn out and dirty as the shop. Greasy matted hair, completely void of any coverings as usually required in such establishments, truly filthy stained clothing... David was having second thoughts about going through with this. The woman, for her part, didn't look too happy herself, probably due to the way her workplace was being cut down. "What can I get you?" she asked, making a mediocre attempt to hide her ire.

"I don't care." David waved her off. He didn't know anything on the menu, so what point was there in making a choice? With that, he turned back to Shinji, giving him time to make his order before speaking again. "I was actually referring earlier to your wound from the chuunin exams. As I recall it, it was a fairly serious injury." he pointed vaguely towards Shinji's stomach, in the general area where his old chakra glaive had cut through him like butter. It was a pity he'd lost that really, but he'd never really used it other than that once anyways, and it was a pain to carry around. The young kage was beginning to rather enjoy himself, skirting around his own identity. The observation of Shinji's wound could be made by anyone who had witnessed, or even heard about, that fight, though the intentional stacking of tiny hints, such as clearing the sand from the shop so simply, should eventually build the konaga to the realization of who he was talking to. For that matter, Shinji hadn't yet bothered ask his name, had he? Ah well, it was more fuel for his fun.

Konaga Shinji

|| Shinobi Profession: Teaching Master || RPC Profile ||

Shinji was a bit disappointed the the Suna-nin next to him had turned him down on the eating contest, but he couldn't blame the man given the surroundings. When he spoke of the quality of food, Shinji found it easy to believe considering the rundown shack he was inside. It didn't matter to Shinji though... a Konaga's stomach was made of iron. Not literally of course, but it could take an awful lot. With their levels of metabolism and the general destructiveness of their chakra on anything that entered into it, food pathogens had little chance of causing any real problems and the food was broken down and consumed for it's energy long before it could ever cause an upset stomach.

"That's too bad..." Shinji said, verbalizing his disappointment, "Though I can understand why you'd say that if you don't trust the food. Wouldn't matter to me one way or another... its all essentially tasteless to me anyway." The sentence probably wouldn't make much sense to the shinobi, but Shinji was about to supply all the context of his statement. Like most things Shinji said, they came out on impulse and he gave no second thought to it at all. Once the waitress appeared, it was clear to Shinji that this Ramen shack was not long for this world. If even the employees look as sad as the establishment itself, it was doomed to fail... it was only a matter of when.

With his shinobi escort's flippant disregard for his order, Shinji wondered why the man had selected this Ramen spot in the first place, but pushed it aside and order almost immediately afterward, turning to the waitress with a smile... "I'll have 4 orders of whatever you serve him." Shinji dropped the order casually, but was ready for the strange look the waitress gave him afterward. He was used to it of course and gently nodded to the woman to confirm the order before she went off to fill it.

Leaving no room in between the completion of his order, Shinji's escort spoke up again, quickly returning to the previous discussion, only this time making the vague statement of 'How's your stomach?' more specific. As he spoke, Shinji grew more and more suspicious, his face clearly betraying his confusion and his attempt to connect the dots. This wasn't so much a question as it was a statement and a strange one at that. As one of the finalists for the Chuunin exams, it wouldn't be surprising for others to have known or recognized him from the many fights he had fought, but this was a tad bit specific. He hadn't even sustained that injury in the finals... he got it from the kid with that troublesome glaive which he had encountered several times.

Shinji then suddenly furrowed his brow at the man as dots began to connect in his head. The kid with the glaive was the same one who had the sand ability, and this shinobi was pointing directly to the area where the glaive had pierced him. True, any Suna-nin who was watching the fight intently could have picked up on it... but Shinji had walked out of the arena with that wound, so how would this shinobi know how serious it was. Then, all of the sudden, Shinji realized that he hadn't asked the man's name. In the rush of excitement, he had only introduced himself and thought that at the time this would just be a temporary escort on his way to the Kazekage, so he hadn't bothered to take the man's name. Looking at the shinobi again with a bit of amusement at the way he was making him think, a thought finally struck Shinji, causing him to examine the shinobi more closely...

"Could this be that same boy I battled with twice? But he looks far too old to be the same one. Then again, he seemed far too young to be a shinobi before... perhaps he had just had a growth spurt." Shinji wasn't quite sure if his thought process was accurate, or if this was the same boy as before. In the end, this shinobi knew more then Shinji would expect an onlooker would know and was curious to find out if this was the same one. Of course, simply asking him would be boring, so Shinji thought of a bit more colorful way to test the theory. Without so much as a hint of provocation, Shinji suddenly launched a punched at the Shinobi's head... not a hard punch or an augmented punch intended to hurt, but a fast one intended to test the shinobi's defense mechanism, so Shinji could see if it was at all similar to their previous battles, which he remembered well.

David continued to watch Shinji with an add look on his face as, rather than respond to his words, the boy seemed to sink into his own mind. Was he finally putting the pieces together, or just trying to figure out how he knew what he did? He'd seen enough of Shinji during the exams to know the boy was excitable, perhaps even volatile given the right situation, and definitely dangerous, thanks to that unusual bloodline. But a deep thinker? That, he didn't know. Was he, like David, prone to losing himself in thought? He didn't really seem the type, but you never knew.

And then Shinji's expression changed, going from confusion and curiosity to intently staring at David. Suspicion almost. David's eyebrow, for what had to be the hundredth time today, rose up in curiosity as he watched to see what would happen. And what did happen, actually took him by surprise. Shinji's fist suddenly lashed out towards David's face, but the boy didn't move to react, actually exerting more energy holding back his automatic defense from catching the attack than dodging or blocking it, and the fist caught him straight in the face, shoving his head backwards.

In that moment, a shriek came from within the shop as their waitress returned with a tray of steaming bowls, which she promptly dropped, only for a tiny platform of sand to catch it and set it on the counter. Likewise, David's right hand flashed up in a single handseal, not to retaliate as Shinji might assume, but to stop the ANBU concealed across the street from retaliating for him.

As Shinji withdrew his fist, as he undoubtedly would, David's head bent back upright, still adorned with an odd smile, and suspiciously lacking any sign that it had just taken the impact of the other boy's fist. Not even a red welt was present, as normally occurred after such, impact. "It is not generally considered wise..." David intoned, as if still in casual conversation as he pulled one bowl from the tray, simply setting it on the counter before him to cool. "To attack the kage's representative within their village. Much less when they are responsible for determining whether or not you may stay." As he finished speaking, he slid the rest of the tray over in front of Shinji. "Now, I wanted to eat before getting to the more important parts of this interview." And with that, David picked up his chopsticks, and carefully lifted some of his noodles from the hot broth, allowing them to cool ever so slightly in the air before moving them to his lips, still acting for all the world as if he had not just been assaulted.

Hehe, so glad I decided to keep the sand armor on after learning it. Should definitely help screwing with Shinji's head that his attack seemingly did no damage. Even if it wasn't intended to.

Shinji has fully expected a wall of sand to interrupt him and block his attack as he had remembered, but instead, for some reason, the Suna-nin made no movement, allowing his hand to connect with his cheek. Surprised, Shinji's eyes squinted slightly as a look of confusion came over his face. Shinji noted the scream, his eyes darting over to the woman just in time to see the tray of sand materialize and lay their food down on the counter for them. When he saw the man's hand move into a seal, Shinji quickly withdrew his arm, moving it instinctively to the hilt of his sword. As his grip tightened however, he realized that the man wasn't performing a technique, but rather made a signal as Shinji looked over to the area, an despite seeing nothing, figured there must be an ANBU nearby.

Relaxing his grip on his weapon, Shinji continued to examine the man as he began to speak, noting how strange it was that the punch, though not meant to harm the man, seemed to do nothing at all... not even cause a bit of redness. Shinji no longer really knew what to think. He had figured that this was that young boy, but he really had no evidence one way or the other other then the fact that the shinobi looked young and seemed to have the same ability to control sand as that child had. For all he knew, it could be a common trait in Sunagakure. Atfer the man had finished speaking, Shinji quickly retorted, "Sorry about that... thought you were someone else. I figured you'd at least try to block the attack, but I guess you didn't need to by the looks of it. Guess my theory was wrong"

With his escort beginning to eat, Shinji joined in, taking the chopsticks in hand as he swirled the ramen around a bit before removing a huge chunk of noodles, ramming it into his mouth with only a few chews before swallowing. About ten seconds later, the bowl was emptied and Shinji was lifting it to drink the broth. With one bowl down, Shinji looked over at the man and finally decided to ask a few questions of his own...

"So, what's your name if I may ask? I realize that when we first met, I introduced myself, but then you never mentioned your name. It's beginning to get a bit annoying identifying you as 'the suna-nin' or the 'shinobi' in my head, so a name would certainly help with that. also, if I may, I'd like to ask about this sand manipulation ability you seem to have... I've only met one other person from your village before now and that was in the Chuunin Exams and they used the exact same type of technique. I forget the boy's name, but the technique I remember clearly... is it of common use in this village?" While waiting for his answer, Shinji got to work on the next bowl of ramen, diving into it in much the same way he had the first. The odds were that by the time the other shinobi began to answer his question, the second bowl would also have been emptied.

David looked at Shinji funnily at the words he spoke to clear up his attack. He had thought he was somebody else? And that made it normal to punch him in the head? Well, that someone was probably him too. He didn't imagine a whole lot of suna nin frequented Iwagakure after all. David remained silent though, not really seeing a way just yet to reply to that without ending his game, and simply continued eating, watching Shinji from the corner of his eye as the boy devoured, or perhaps inhaled, his meal, causing the young kage's eyebrow to arch once more. Soon it'd probably be stuck up there, making him look quite silly.

After swallowing his first bowl, Shinji started chattering away, asking a few different questions in a single shot before finally diving into his second bowl, and with the speed of intake, David wouldn't have been a bit surprised to see the boy pick up the third and just pour it all down his throat, scalding liquid and all. How would his body react to that anyways? Yes, he had established that he couldn't really comprehend normal pain, but would his body counteract the effects of overheating for him? This was the desert, pouring hot anything down your throat was commonly considered a bad idea.

"Sand jutsu are Sunagakure's secret techniques. We use the sand that surrounds us as our weapon to defend the village. And yes, it is rather common here. My sand manipulation though? Not so much. The jutsu, anybody with the affinity can use, but moving sand by your will alone..." David lifted his hand to his cheek where Shinji had hit it, and the area turned brown as a bit of sand melded off his cheek, forming a ball hovering beside his finger. "Only one person alive has that power." The sand flew back onto his face, recoloring itself to hide again as David lowered his hand. He didn't say why only one person had the ability, leaving that for Shinji to determine. It could easily be seen to be the work of a bijuu, though some might think he had invented the technique himself, which would explain it as well. Either way, it would probably return the Konaga's suspicions towards his identity, though he couldn't recall having use such pure manipulation tactics much in their fights. Well, it was still a fun game, and just about time to tell him anyways.

Just about.

"By the way." David looked up from where he had momentarily returned to his noodles, pointing at the other boy's bowl. "If you drink that so fast, your body will cook out in the sun. It's also a waste of water. Water is a valuable commodity here, which should be savored. We pay quite a lot to bring in shipments of it." With his 'scolding' complete, David lifted his now noodle-less and mostly cooled bowl, and slowly drained it into his mouth
