R'ael stifled a yawn in the crook of his arm, watching the croud mill around. Other than delivering the odd bit of food and drink he might as well be a human shaped chunk of rock in the middle of the gathering. Of course...what was he really expecting? He was playing waiter...but still. He'd been hoping to learn a little more about the other people at the Weyr, or the new Weyrleader...but that obviously wasn't happening. Not today.

She approaches the large gathering with a quiet confidence, although she's dressed as a traveler, and not as a reveler, her clothing, skin, and long black hair dusty from the road. Instead of a skirt she wears trousers, cut loose in the legs for free movement, and sturdy boots designed for riding, her shirt rolled up at the sleeves to show a glimpse of her strong, lythe build, shaped to the standards of heavy work rather than delicasy and grace. It would be a mistake to call her beautiful, but more of one to dismiss her as ugly. She has an strong face for a woman, but it's an subtly handsome strength that suits her well where delicate frail features would look entirely out of place. A stocky black dog with thick rough fur and perked ears walks beside her, tounge lolling as it stands close to her leg, tail wagging faintly with interest and curiosity as it's master considers the assembled gathering. She frowns slightly, trying to deside who to ask about what she needs.

Kahlin lounged a bit away from the festivity the gather had becoming to much. To much noise, people he didn't know, it had turned a bit stiffening. Sonia nuzzled him gently with her wedge shaped head. He was humming softly breaking into words every so often. Perhaps not the best singer he was not aweful either.
"Whirling chaos of colors, dancing around the floor. Perhaps we look left out but two more then enough company." He stroaked Sonia head as the firelizard hummed. "Hey I'm the one singing not you." He teased playfully. She gave a musical chirp. "No fair a flit sings better then me."

Teyin peered around the corner, arms full of empty trays. But no way was he staying in the kitchens all night, not when there were so many people in the weyr! Isca chirped softly on his head, and he shooed the little fire lizard off towards the ceiling. It was still rare for one as young-looking as he to own a flit, and he didn't want to attract undue attention. However...
He set down the trays carefully and combed irritably with his fingers through his hair. The women had tried to tidy him up, and he did have his festival best on, but the curly blonde-brown hair was not meant to be parted, and he brushed it until it sat to his liking.
Glancing around, he looked for someone with which to exchange gossip with, or at least gain a tidbit or two. He recognised the man and flit sitting quietly a little way off, and started that way, but the new entrant caught his eye. Fixing a wide innocent smile on his face, Teyin scampered up to her. "C'n I get you anything miss?" The ever helpful serving boy...

The black dog perks up its ears, if possible, even more sharply at the boys approach, but neither barks not growls, merely watches with alert amber eyes, tilting it's head curiously. The woman blinks, glancing down at Teyin from her inspection of the croud and smiles slightly, brushing back her dusty hair. "That depends, do you know where I might find the Weyrwoman or the Weyrleader? I need to speak to one of them at their liesure..." A pause, and then she offers one hand out to the boy, who almost undoubtably, if she remembers her own childhood, thinks of him self as an adult, just a bit smaller than most. "My name is Cassiel, This is Kuro" She says, nodding at the dog, who sit's back on his haunches and gives a quite "Wurf" As though introdusing himself.

The boy grinned. 'Lo Miss Cassiel, and Kuro too," and he swept a little bow. He'd seen the Holders and their ladies, and he was at a Gather after all. "Um... the Weyrwoman is over there somewhere," and he waved a hand vaguely, "and I'm not sure where the new Weyrleader is..." For a second he realised his offer of help was useless. and quickly tried to remedy it. "O'course, I can run find out for you, Miss Cassiel. Are you not here for the Gather?" The question was out of his mouth before he thought, his bright green eyes taking into account her apparel. Isca gave up, and swooped down from the ceiling where a small fair was perched on ledges. He perched on the boy's narrow shoulder awkwardly and rubbed an azure head against his cheek questioningly. Teyin blinked, and then whispered to the side. "Isca, find the Weyrwoman. Ephia!" He tried fitting an image of the gold rider into his fire lizard's brain, unfortunately his fear and respect making her much grander and imposing than reallife. The little blue chirped, and leapt off his shoulder, disappearing towards the ceiling again.
"He might help," Teyin nodded hopefully.

Good evening, bronze Feronamth!"Oh hello, C'tari, it's been a while." L'mur nodded in greeting. "And thank you." He grinned at the compliment to his beloved green. "Wine? Meatroll?" he offered, belatedly remembering his duties. Jessmet blushed and curtsied. "Jessmet of Krinn Hold, and this is Az." She smiled prettily at the bronzerider. The firelizard in question, always happy to be praised, chirped at C'tari, eyes whirling blue-green.

Miss Cherie She glanced at Rinfala. "A pleasure to see you again, Rinfala. Your brown has caused quite a stir." From what she knew of him, he was at least as egotistical as her own dragon. What was she doing chattering away like an old auntie? It wasn't like her at all. "L'mur," she said simply in greeting. pangolin Oh, that's right he impressed green. He responded to his dragon. C'tari did a bit of a shiver. He was always a bit worried about Feronamth flying greens. Then he saw another familiar face, though he was sure she didn't know him. The female brown rider. Hello hello! Everyone enjoying themselves? He pretended to play the host, knowing full well everyone knew he was not. But the good wine he had had earlier was barring him from behaving more civilized. Rinfala, I am glad to finally meet you! And L'mur! We have not spoken in some time, congradulations, your green is a beautiful thing, I saw her and all the weyrlings during your lessons. He looked to the girl with the bronze fire lizard on her shoulder. And low, who is this who carries such a nice little bronze, just like my Feronamth, only fewer scars. Rinfala chuckled. "That's like him...he did much the same at his Hatching." She nodded to C'tari. "'Tis good to meet you as well, sir."

Kahlin glanced up hearing someone approach. A serving boy? He glanced at the woman just catching the smallest hint of the converstaion. The werywoman. He hadn't seen her yet he should atleast glimps her shouldn't he? He looked at Sonia the little green humming merrily. "What do you think Sonia?" Sonia fixed him with one whirling eye and chirped taking off for the group. "Sonia! Get back here you scamp I didn't mean you to do that!" Kahlin yelled running after the flit. 'Silly flit is going to get me in trouble.'

A strange blue came chipring through following other flits around. He was happy to be caught up in all the activity. Not at all like his owner, who prefered to be alone and on the road. How she had got caught up at the Turn Over Gather was beyond her.
Frustrated, she wondered what her father would think...Though with a pouch full of marks from delivering her messages. Perhaps she could find some wares to by needed by their station. Kallista nodded happily. That could work out...
The blue noticed a gathering of his kind near a table that called to his stomach. Trilling and crooning his entrance, his whirled with all the excitement.
"Follar! Follar! Get back here you sorry excuse for a lizard!" Kallista hurried after her flit before he caused to much damage. But it was too late. The blue flit, now known as Follar, landed on the table and chirped to all before nibbling on a random meatroll.

He matched Jessmet's smile A fine creature indeed, I bet he is far better behaved then my own lizard. But who wouldn't be for such a lovely lady. He ventured a scratch to the little bronze's eye ridge.
Wine would be perfect L'mur! He had just at that moment realized his glass was empty.
He should eat something. He has had plenty of wine. Feronamth was well used to C'tari's over exuberence for drinking by now and imparted this to both his rider and L'mur. He then re-adjusted himself from his perch over looking the gather to see if he could lay his bulk out and perhaps nap.
He turned to Rinfala, utterly ignoring his dragon's fatherly tone. Sir? Am I that old already? He winked at her, You can call our weyr leader sir, I am merely a wing second. He gave a show of false insult, complete with exagerated sigh for his ranking. He was very much at ease at taking orders from others, meant less work in the long run.

Follar was done nibbling his meatroll and was curious as to what was going on. Boldly, the little blue went up to one of the many people at the table and chirped at him. Cleaning his talons, he looked mightly pleased with himself at eating the whole thing.
Kallista managed to slip between a man who was an obvious rider and another stranger. Plucking up the blue flit, she nodded to all. "I am sorry if this silly creatuer interupted your dinner. I haven't got his manners down yet. He is just over a sevenday or so old."

Jessmet flushed slightly. "I do my best to keep him from bothering people; I know some find them to be a nuisance." When Az leaned into the caress, Jess giggled, green eyes dancing with her amusement. "I think he likes you, sir!"
"Have a meatroll as well, C'tari," L'mur offered adroitly. He'd noticed the bronzerider's slight intoxication and didn't want the man to feel too poorly the next morning. C'tari is lucky to have one such as you to watch over him, he told the bronze.
"Who is this handsome thing?" Jess asked, indicating the little blue firelizard. "You've crumbs on your face," she told him, suppressing another giggle. The girl always felt like such a ditz when she giggled, but the excitement and jollity of her surroundings had gotten to her.

"Okay, you two, come on, we're going bubbly hunting." She grinned at her dragon, and rolled her eyes at the blue flit who was eyeing the empty platter that once held meat rolls with regret.
"Oki, you go up above, okay, and search out the vendor that sells these," and here she sent him an image of a bubbly pie, "for me. Can you do that, Oki?"
The flit had sat up, eyes whirling, and gave an inquisitive chirp. Then he spread his wings, and was soon up in the air, diving this way and that, looking for the thing Remia had shown him.
"Let's go, Trith! After him!" she laughed, and then they were both padding after the blue.
What does this thing taste like? Trith asked, for some reason very interested in the food her human partner ate.
Remia saw a group of people she knew as they walked, and waved to them while considering her answer. "Well, bubblies are sweet, not spiced like a meatroll, and are sticky, and... I can give you bite, if you like... but I think you'll like it less than the meatroll, sweet."
If it is not as good as the meatroll, then I don't think I'll try it, mine. the green answered with a shrug of her wings.
Then they were at the bubbly vendor, and he was shooing Okiuli away from his perch on the edge of the table.
Remia hurried over and held out her hand to the blue, who obligingly hopped over and up to her shoulder, eyes whirling green, pleased that he had done what he was asked to do.
"Sorry, sir, I was asking him to help me find your stall. I'd like one bubbly, please!"
She would have asked for more, and taken them to the group she'd seen, but she hadn't had much to spend to start with, and now her marks were even less.
In an out of the way corner, she enjoyed her treat, and even gave the begging Oki a berry from the filling, which he seemed to enjoy. Trith gave in, and asked for a bit as well, and after trying a smidge, pronounced it "sticky, but okay."

Feronamth gave the dragon equivalent of a laugh I agree. And then resumed his conversation with another dragon.
There we go with the sir again. He sighed and not really paying attention to what he was doing, took a meat roll from L'mur.
C'tari looked to Kallista and to the little blue fire lizard smiling. Good, his wasn't the only menace around here. It seems everyone has one of them these days. He shook his head in dismay, Speaking of which, I wonder where my little Sisao is. He seemed to look around absently.
