Raphael glanced lazily over his shoulder at William from where he was working at the kitchen counter. " 'Lead the coup'?" He echoed. "Ah, that." Going back to his work, he used a thick towel to open the oven and took out the food he was finished cooking, setting it down gently. He took the apron he'd put on off, hanging it up as well. "Lessee...Ye were pretty good. At the basics o' fightin'." He nodded to himself, holding a serious face, before bursting out laughing. "Ah'm dreadfully sorry. Just...Just a little hysterical...Hunger pangs..." He took a deep breath and wiped a tear away from an eye. "Okay, sorry aboot that again. Heh...Goin' on, ye held yer awn nicely. But Erick wasn't really tryin' too hard, tae begin with. Other than that, a little moor trainin' tae hone yer skills would be an idea. That an' lunch is done."

Erick was pleased that the fight was over. All those amateur tactics were giving him a slight headache. He tromped Jay back inside, picking up the spare pieces that had dropped from the previous fight and laying them neatly in lines. At the instruction of Amy, he unbent the heavy chain to it's previous shape, then made his way down to help her sort the discarded armor out between Fatum and Jay. He argued a bit with her on where they belonged, according to the schematics. She won, much to her credit as a mechanic.

"Aye, dependin' on which way ye see it." Raphael remarked, smacking the hand that William was holding the fresh baked bread with, with a wooden spoon reprimandingly. "Ye wait 'til Ah set it out, wee laddie! Actshully..." He picked one of the food items up and shoved it in William's direction. "Go an' set this on the table out thare. No eatin'. Ah'll get the rest o' this stuff. Then, like Ah promised Erick, we'll be goin' drinkin'. If ye want tae join."

By the time William had went out of the room, then came back in, Raphael had almost finished cleaning all the dishes he'd used in the sink. "Erick...Don't ye dare touch that..."
Erick had wandered over to the table, smelling the fresh food. He set his fork down with a clatter, grumpily muttering to himself while plopping down in a chair. "I swear...ears like a dog."
Raphael nodded to himself in agreement and wiped his hands off on his pants, winking at William conspiratorially. "Exactly. An' an appetite tae match, mah sis and brothers used tae say." He went and sat at the table, glancing over at Amy who had not joined. "Ye comin'?"
"Busy. When you guys leave. Try to leave me some." She was busy fixing Jay for her brother.
"Oh well. Dig in, Ah guess." Raphael noted bemusedly.
Erick didn't need to be told that twice. He hated eating at the Guards' base, so this was a more than welcome change. "Thank God you can cook, X!"

Raphael had practically wolfed down his food, poking at a piece of pie with his fork. His thoughts were elsewhere at that moment, drawing a gray blank. Swirling patterns decorated the plate from the cherry juice he spread on it absently.

Erick went to reply but instead sneezed by accident, spraying crumbs into the hand he raised over his mouth politely. Swallowing his food was the best path before talking, he thought, using a napkin to wipe it shamefacedly. "My Father was in the Royal Guard. Me and Amy always hung out at the base; mainly 'cuz of the machines. After he died, I left school early to help out with the family budget." He took a long draught of a glass of cold milk, then continued. "Enlisting was an easy way to make money. I knew the basics already. Plus all the other Guards, too. That's how we met X."

Erick wiggled the fork around in his mouth, thinking deeply. His eyes flitted over to Raphael, still not paying attention. A slight guarded expression came across his features. "Our situation's improved. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of 'big plans' are you talking about?"
