A part of her knew that this was it....if she let him walk out that door she'd probably never see him again. She held on tightly, afraid...her paws trembling against his cold armor. Why was nothing ever simple...why couldn't she have been the little girl with a family, and friends who could live life happily and fully each day?
The look on her face as it reflected from his helmet wretched at her heart....if she couldn't stand him having his helmet on...how could she stand not seeing him again at all?
"I'm....afraid...." She spoke, a tremble in her vocals as she fought with her better instincts; eventually coming out on top after a moment or two of silence.
"..I....I'm falling for you....Jerome. I'm afraid...your job...giving it up, my life at risk...i've never been more scared, and I don't know what to do anymore...." She let her eyes fall, and slowly her paw let go of his armor. There....if he'd left now...at least he knew.

The Spartan turned around completly rather than just giving her the cold shoulder. He wanted to take her paw, but knew it was best if he didn't. From under the helmet he let out a sigh. A very long one in fact.
"Sadly Koyuki. I was falling for you too. But....if you say you must run, then I cannot stop you." He said in all honesty. He turned again heading for the nearest door. Even if this was the last time he'd see her, he wasn't going to at least part without giving some useful information. Some of which that could almost make her change her mind.
"I don't think your running because of this fox. i think your running because your afraid. But....how long can you run from fear?" he said just before he opened the door to the bitter cold and left. Conveniantly enough, he was facing the very hill he needed to climb to get to his only sanctuary. Before he did, he looked over at the snow covered deck where he first saw the vixen. Then slammed his fist against the door in a tiny fit of rage.

When his words hit her ears, each one which passed his lips felt twice as painful as the bullet wound in her gut. She was speechless, it was like that moment at the hill...seperated by a slope she was too scared to venture, her feet as heavy as anchors. She watched him turn, his heavy pawsteps echoing painfully through the room. A few midnight patrons had looked over at the scene, but she remained oblivious....there was only one fox on her mind; and he was leaving out her life.
Maybe she was afraid, of a life she had not planned for...or one she could read in a book. Afraid that beyond some illogical means he would get called back to fight...and she would be left here. Now her whole body trembled, the burning of tears in her eyes made the sight of him shutting the door behind him blurry.
Each smile, each helping hand, each tender look burned in her mind, and as she didn't catch the slam of a fist meeting door she'd run up to the window that overlooked the balcony to see if he was still here....but as she looked out as far as she could with the snowfall; a look of devastation crossed her face as she closed her eyes painfully tight. (Of course, unable to see the door from the outside with the angle she'd been on and thus unable to see Jerome at the door still)
"...what's the point of running if there will be no one at the end with open arms waiting..." her paws moved to cover her mouth as she slid down against the wall into a heap on the floor. She didn't care about the looks she got as she wept...she'd began to love...apparently at the same time began to be loved. She's just lost her only friend, all from wanting to protect him from harm...
Yet all that faced her now was an emptiness which was so unbearable, it tore at her very soul.

With a heavy heart, Jerome climbed the steep hill, feeling as if it were more of a challenge than it usually was. When he finally made it back to the pod, he heard his ever faithful AI chime in over his ears. "Shall I not wake you this time?" she said in a slightly smug tone.
Jerome didn't answer. There was nothing he had left to say. He just crawled in and left the AI get to work. It didn't take long for him to lay frozen once more inside of the little pod shadowed by a mountain

Unwatching the scene before him fall apart like a proverbial sweater from a single thread, Trovalius groaned inwardly as he sat on the stairs for at least ten minutes now. In his search for the vixen he'd heard the forest churn from the blood, and upon his discovery his trail led him to the shop where he's spotted the pair on the couch.
Now....as she lay on the floor with her body and soul breaking before his eyes, the fox knew he'd be in for one hell of a night either way. Taking her home would leave him with a sleepless night from her sorrows; and what he was about to do next would have Briareos yelling at him. With no other option than to fail, he chose the one that for once...went against everything he felt for the femme.
On his way down he grabbed the thickest blanket he could find on one of the couches, making his way to Koyuki and grabbing her by the arm and in a swift movement pulled her to stand. Reluctant at first to even look at him, the demon hissed and grabbed her face in his paw to force her to look.
"Listen! I don't like you, and you don't like me. Lets get this abomination over with as soon as possible. Koyuki, you are an idiot. Plain and simple. The a*****e spartan is right...you are doing no one a favor by running off, even if you just want to spare them harm. He's a soldier, a warrior...he gets some retarded kick from saving girls like you from harm. How do you think that made him feel when you wanted to leave...where he couldn't be there to protect you? Knowing that he would fail a most basic instinct to preserve and protect?" He could see the sickening realization in her eyes, followed by that look of utter, and pure horror as the weight of her previous words fell on her shoulders.
"Christ, took you long enough. Listen, for this will be the ONLY time I offer you advice. You can run as long and as far as you like, and you will get no where...ever. Running is the most stupid thing you can do...unless you run with purpose and a goal. What was your goal running away from an assassin hmm? To live another day? No! It doesn't work like that. Do you care for that Psycho?" He didn't wait for her to answer, for he already knew. "Then how about instead of running from your fears...run to them. As fast as you can...I promise you'll get somewhere, and reach your destination. Now...take this, and get out of my face you disgusting wretch." Trovalius shoved the blanket into her arms and stalked off...he felt filthy for helping.
Speechless, Koyuki listened intently to what Trovalius had to say...and the peices of her incomplete puzzle created a beautiful image in her mind. As he left, a small smile crossed her lips as she threw the blanket over her shoulders and opened the door to the cold outside. "Thank you..." she whispered on shaking vocals, before dissapearing out into the dark, snowy night.
An hour or two must have passed, the snow falling in large pieces to the ground as she tried to navigate through the hills to her only destination. She needed to find him, she wasn't going to let him go...it was all new, scary and strange...but she found herself liking it like he was liking this place. Finally, she noticed a giant pod as she slowly walked over to it and smiled. Frozen, exausted and in pain from running with her wound; she was surprised she'd made it all the way here as she placed a paw on the window and brushed the snow off to see Jerome inside; still and peaceful as could be. He wasn't going anywhere without her knowing now...and for the first time since she'd met him...she realized fully the meaning to his words that she could look back on what she'd did...and be content no matter what happened now.
Clutching the blanket around her body, the vixen sat down beside the pod on the side protected from the wind; surprisingly comfortable from her usual sitting sleep habits back in the shop. Making sure the blanket was covering all of her the nestled her head on her knees to cover her face from the elements and let her beaten body pass out into a deep, deep sleep.

--------------- I'm guessing we are going to the following morning
Elysia did a routine scan in the wee hours of the rising sun. It surprised her servos to find a fox sleeping against the pod. She sighed as she initalized the thawing of the lunk Spartan. He probably would not appreciate being awoken from cyro again seeing as it was usually a long term resort for passing the time. Not sleeping at night. Usually getting people out of cryo was a pain because they had to be filled with the fluid that kept them alive over the period of time. But when awake, it had to be spat out quickly. It made no sense to her
50% thawed. Elysia checked the for vitals as now was when brain waves returned and breathing became less shallow. Sure enough everything was fine, as always. 90% Elysia could hear Jerome groaning a bit. "Wake up Buttercup!" She said in her usual sarcastic tone
The Spartan sat up, feeling like he had been hit by a train. "Oh.....I hate cryo sleep" He said as he manually opened the pod door. He crawled out and proceded to stretch. Looking over the horizon he took off his helmet and spat off to his left. "What day is it?" he asked as he pulled out a fresh pack of cigarettes. He had been surprised he had gone so long with out them. Elsia chimed the date and Jerome lit his cig. "Hmm..only 8 hours huh...Well i guess Koyuki is long gone by now" he spoke with sorrow as he puffed on the cancer stick. He had no idea that just around the other side of his pod, Koyuki had taken shelter for the night

As the fresh new rays of sun began to melt the night's fresh powder snow, the vixen still slept quietly on the other side of the pod. the snow which had formed a mound over her had actually made her nice and cozy in the night...yet now that the warmth of the day returned the snow began to melt and soak the blanket and her head.
Sounds from around her roused her from her sleep, her head was heavy from the snow as her nose felt plugged from crying last night. A tickle rose in the back of her throat that ventured to her nose, and Koyuki knew what was coming.
"Ah.......ah.....Achoo!!" She sneezed, the powder flying up from its resting spot to flutter down to the ground; exposing she was more than just a pile of snow. Unaware Jerome had already awoke, she yawned sleepily and with a bit of a shiver, but otherwise winced against the bright light of the sun.

Jerome, having suddenly heard a sneeze, turned his head towards the sound. Perplexed, he walked over to the other side of his tiny abode, knowing full well that if it was anything he had to attack then he could handle it.
When he rounded the pod his mouth dropped and his cigarette fell into the snow, extinguishing immediatly. He was now utterly speechless

Pawsteps...Koyuki's ears snapped up as her head soon followed and saw the strange stick fall into the snow. Looking further up she noticed the shell shocked look of Jerome, and immediately a small smile rose on her lips. She didn't move, since she tried to keep whatever heat was left in her little blanket tent.
"....I can run from my fears forever if needed, crawl if I must..." Koyuki's voice was a little sore still, but otherwise she had no waiver of uncertainty as she spoke. "But to answer your question plainly...i'll run any distance if it leads me right to you. A...wise fox told me instead of running from my fears, to run to them and I would get somewhere. And now...im where I want to be....and I am content." Her gaze dropped to the snow...not sure what was running through his mind.

Jerome was still completely surprised. Never had anyone come back just for him. It was as if someone was finally repaying all of his hard work.
He didn't even realize that he had moved closer to his returned friend and dropped to his knees to hug her. His mind was still trying to catch up with everything. He was just acting out of impulse and instinct now

If ever she had felt something akin to cryo...this was it. Barely able to look up in time Jerome had dropped to his knees infront of her as strong arms pulled her into an embrace. As her breath caught in her throat as a blazing blush rose on her pale cheeks, Koyuki's mind was numb...and it took more than a few moments to process before her own arms found their way around to his back to return the gesture.
"Jerome..." Koyuki breathed once she remembered to use her lungs, nestling her head into his shoulder. "I'm so sorry, for what I said. I hope you can forgive me again..."

At long last, Jerome's mind gears caught up with what he was doing and he soon found that he didn't want to let go of the smaller female.
"I think I forgave you before you even knew what you were doing" he spoke softly. It was a time like this that he wished he wasn't wearing the bulky armor.

As much as she hated it, she knew her red cheeks were not going anywhere fast if he kept speaking things that made her heart flutter like a lovestruck kit. It was strange, as his armor was cool to the touch it had become a part of Jerome like if it was his own flesh. She supposed she just accepted if, he needed it afterall. Pulling her arms back and leanding slightly out of his embrace enough to bring a paw to his face she traced along a particularily long scar. She couldn't describe how good it was to see his face again...
"Thank you..." She smiled warmly, although it looked like she was searching for something when she looked into his eyes. "Did....you really mean what you said last night...about me?" The words hadn't left her mind since they'd come from his lips, looking for anything to tell her that he'd meant them.

Th Spartan didn't care what the vixen had decided to do at this point. He almost welcomed her paws on his face, but for now he didn't want to overbear. He was slightly surprised to see her pull back.
"I'm a Spartan. Every word that comes out of my mouth is intentional. If ever there was a time I was dishonest, now wouldn't be it" he said with a small grin on his face

"I...see..." A sheepish little smile rose on her face as she wasn't sure if it was possible to get any redder than she already was. His grin made the butterflies in her stomach flutter even more furiously, how had she fallen so fast for the fox before her?
"and you're sure...about this? You're okay with getting fired..?" Once again she found herself searching for an answer she had an inkling she already knew. She'd already made her decision, or else she wouldn't have been here in the loose embrace of the Spartan before her. Besides, she wasn't a fully trained Geisha anyways...so Koyuki had realized she was never bound by the rules.
