Felix Silverlight

Felix's concentration was fully on his studies at this point, quill pen etching away at his parchment on the desk, very diligently. A lone wax candle burned by his table side for him to properly see in the dark, and another across the small room on the nightstand... Though the small cot was no more than a few paces behind him, being a rather small orphanage room still.
Felix had heard the voices and commotion through his door, and had been trying to tune them in, here the walls were not so thick and it was easy to make out the voice of a matured ninja... most of the children were probably pressed to their walls trying to listen in. "...Y-yes, thats me.."
The chair scraped across the wooden paneled floor as Felix pushed back from his desk quickly, unintentionally knocking a few of his books over and barely managing to right the tottering candle before his chair knocked over entirely, as if finally given up on the hopeless case. Felix sprawled for a second in horror on the floor, before picking himself up quickly and bowing apologetically toward the Chunnin in his room.
Fail...
The thought rushed through his mind as he glanced up at the other man, wondering if he could even be a ninja now after such disgrace and lack of coordination. He stood back up straight slowly, locking his silver eyes with those of the other man.
"...I am Felix Silverlight."

Fudou imitated the Rooster seal to the best of his ability. So the index and ring fingers touched straight, and thumb and pinky finger touched bent and the middle fingers intertwined with each other. How did shinobi figure out the precise level of convolution in making hand seals just by experimentation again? He was finding it really hard to believe that all of this finger twisting had happened, essentially, by accident. He noted that the chakra flow of the Rooster was strangely warm, but otherwise nothing much to talk about.

And now the second-last seal, the Dog. It was just one hand over the other and looked pretty basic. A horrifying thought occurred to Akio at that moment that perhaps he would need to make the exact same angle between his hands every time he made the seal. Judging by the other seals, this was probably true. He decided not to think about it and promptly quashed the thought with another round of the self-mantra "It will come with time...". He also thought of what his mother always said to him, that beginners always had to work the hardest before they achieved the level required for easier mastery.

Akio was having a bit of trouble with the Dog. He had the basic position right, one hand above the other, the left hand open while the right hand was bunched into a partial fist. However, no matter how much he wriggled his hands around, he couldn't detect the flare of chakra that signalled the start of the chakra flow he had learned to associate with hand seals. Maybe it would be better to move on to the last seal, the Boar. This one looked straightforward, but he had said that about the Dog...

He raised his eyebrows at the straightness of the fingers as depicted in the scroll. There was no way someone could get their fingers to bend as such a perfect right angle. Nonetheless he attempted the final seal and was not really surprised when he felt nothing. Frowning, he attempted to bend his fingers even further, pressing both hands together. By now his legs were now uncrossed but were still in the same general position. With the bases of his feet and his palms pressed together, Fudou felt like some sort of Buddha.

At some point, Akio detected an influx of chakra from somewhere around his right side. So this was what the Boar seal did. Satisfied at his level of mastery of the seal and feeling a bit restless, he decided to return to the Dog seal so he could finish up the exercise for today. He curled his right hand into a fist, and placed his left hand on top with the fingers pointing directly towards the crux of the elbow. The feeling did not come. Maybe he was doing it wrong, or maybe this seal's effect was extremely subtle and he just couldn't feel it at his present ability. Choosing to take it as the latter, Akio held the seal for a bit longer, memorising the exact configuration of his hands, before releasing it. He then proceeded to go down the list one more time. Rat, Ox, Tiger, Hare, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Boar. Again. Reverse order this time. And now in a random order. Akio knew that when he graduated, and even before, possibly in the next lesson, he would be expected to be able to reproduce them immediately upon the cue.

Yarotai couldn't help but let out a muffled chuckle as the boy stumbled over himself, sending his things crashing to the ground. When Felix finally composed himself and bowed, the older male burst out in a full roaring laughter. He placed his free hand on his forehand as he launched his head back in hysterical laughter. After several long seconds he calmed himself to the point of simply grinning wide and shaking his head at the boy before him, "Don't hurt yourself kid! You're supposed to be in my class starting tomorrow and I can't be having kids so jumpy and uptight. Relax little man."

The Chuunin made his way to the cot and seated himself down on it with an eerie creaking sound. He continued to sit on the bed with a huge smile on his face as he held out the scroll he had been holding, "I came by to give you this. Normally you would have gotten that tomorrow morning but the woman running this place has a daughter that I've had my eye on, so she asked that I get you a head start. I'm Miharo Yarotai by the way."

"...Your.. c-class?"
Felix's cheeks were flushed quite red at this point, the color growing at just about the same rate as the tone of laughter coming from Yarotai. Felix moved about in a rush, hustling to reach down and right his chair, pushing it back under his desk and then collecting his various books and stacking them improperly back on the desk.
"...Uptight... right..." Felix turned his head a little, locks of raven black hair brushing over his shoulder and he tried to calm his nerves. This was a true ninja... A Teacher!
Finally he managed to calm himself at Miharo's mention of a girl...
"...O-oh.." he knew probably 'exactly' the girl that the guy was mentioning... but she was ok... no mature 'man to man' warnings for this guy yet. She was actually one of his friends... oh, she had asked him for a favor..? 'Good' friend... It was amazing how quickly the little guy's mind slipped from that of a student, to a social comradery toward the shinobi.
Felix nodded dutifully, taking the scroll with his small hand and glancing back up with his silver eyes. He was, in truth.. a little embarrassed about his bed... it did squeak a little, and it was only a little bigger than he himself was. There was no doubt that it would not serve as anymore than a small sitting couch for the other man.
"...Its a pleasure to meet you Yarotai Sensei.." Felix was accustomed to his teachers here and so the word was not unfamiliar, he remembered his manners.
But how was a scroll going to teach him to be a strong ninja? ...He watched the parchment apprehensively. Glancing back up curiously to the Chunnin.

The young man had not missed being called sensei, though it was good to know that kids still had some manners. He had noticed in his time working in the Hokage's office that many of the current shinobi were becoming jaded. That was understandable since they weren't fighting against a foreign army, but other ninja and citizens of the Fire Country.

Yarotai shook his head and chuckled more at the obviously confused boy in front of him. Though in reality he had expected as much from the child, given that he wasn't explaining everything outright for him. With a crack of his neck to his left he pointed out towards the scroll in Felix's hand, "Well are you going to open it or not? It's hard for me to teach you about hand seals if you don't have the pictures in front of you."

The brown haired male let his back rest against the wall as he slowly cycled his own hands through the seals as he spoke, "So all shinobi perform justus by using chakra flowing in their body. Don't worry too much about what chakra is right now though. Just know that forming those seals creates natural pathways for your chakra that enable you to use jutsus. So memorize how to do those hand seals tonight and you'll be ahead of the power curve at class. Ok?"

Felix, from his small position standing in front of the other ninja, could see the swath of conflicted feelings cover Yarotai's features at being referred to as 'sensei'. It seemed natural though, and so Felix thought nothing of it... kneeling down to spread the scroll ominously on the wooden floor.
The candlelight flickered faintly as his eyes scanned over the various hand combinations and forms carefully. His fingers were just itching to get started and they slipped together before he even realized what he was doing. In his own little world now, and thankful for the help, he probably didn't even realize when it got late into the night and Yarotai took his leave.
"...Tatsu... or, Dragon.."
...Was the first of the hand seals to catch his attention... not only because it was 'dragon'.. and those are rather cool... But Felix's birth month was in march, which was the month of the dragon as well. He was not sure about the year... but that was when the Orphanage mistress had found him.

Felix's fingers slipped together struggling to form the weirdly shaped symbol...

"...Aww... common..."
Felix shifted his hands about trying harder to form the Dragon seal... maybe he wasnt supposed to do this one just yet though. Maybe you were supposed to learn the rat one first, but he tried on. It was just finger motions after all right? He could remember seeing other ninja wiggling them about curiously and now he got to actually learn them. It was exciting actually.
Alright... if that was not the key, then maybe his pinky finger should press like so...

Well... its a good thing this training didn't hurt, anything except his fingers, at least. But he was not going to be giving up 'this' early. It had to be a key... there must be a key in the technique somewhere that he was just not getting. The form was not to simply put your hands together... no, it had to also involve your personal feelings.
Felix broke his hands apart for a moment, looking at them and scanning over the page once more. There was a key somewhere and he just needed to find it. A key to making the technique form into a power form.
He tried once more.

"...Yesss!!!"
Felix let out an exhilarated 'whoop', which sounded about the orphanage, and he quickly broke his hand seal to cover his mouth... hushing up. It was nighttime after all, and most students were probably trying to sleep.
But he had felt it! ...Felt the technique click, he had felt his feelings flow through it, had felt the power and the wave of chakra that could only be described as 'right'. It was the right feeling. Something similar to finding a word of power for the first time, and speaking it... or even hearing it for the first time. A voice of truth.
This victory inspired him to try out another. No failing now, the dragon symbol was his!

'But'... the rat symbol. The rat symbol was difficult.
Why was it difficult? He should have this by now...
Felix splayed his hands together, watching the parchment, then shifting his eyes back to his own hands, making sure they were perfectly aligned. Perhaps he had simply flawed the symbol itself... that would be a good reason to not work. He had to get it perfect.
Felix extended his pointer and middle fingers, tucking them properly into the lower ones of his other hand.
"...Try this again.. the rat, or 'ne'.." He furrowed his brow, trying to let his feelings flow through the symbol once more.

"Alright... 'now' were getting somewhere." Felix felt the fluctuation of power as his hands formed the rat seal properly and his emotions flowed just like before. It once again felt right... a proper seal of power.
Alright, whats next... Felix scanned to the second one down on the list.
"...Ushi... the ox or cow.." He tried to remember these, but knew somehow, he was definitely going to forget. Well... hopefully he would be able to remember how to perform the seals, that was the important part, at least, for now.

"...Aww... why do I always fail on the first try..."
Felix furrowed his brow, making sure his hands had been placed properly. It was as if the gods of the shinobi were making him take a second look every time, just to make sure he 'really' knew what he was doing. Which.. he had to admit, he did not... but hey!
Felix slipped his fingers properly and made sure they were correct this time. If it was not his finger placement then he knew that it must be his flow of feelings and emotions through the seals. It had been before right? That would be next to check off on the list if this didn't work...

"...Oh my gosh.." Felix failed... again. It wouldn't work!
Ok, so maybe he just sucked at making an ox hand seal, so what? The ox was probably not that important... maybe he could slip by without knowing how to perform it truly..? No, no no no no... aaaggg.. he would definitely be caught. He had to do this... he 'had' to get it right this time.
Felix furrowed his brow a little as he squeezed his hands together, trying to make the seal work with all of his effort.
