G...Gators? AGAIN? She was still traumatized by them from last time. This would not bode well. She took the rope in her hands and backed up as far as she could. Then, thinking only of the fact that she needed to finish to support her team, she ran as fast as she could and jumped, clutching the rope with all four limbs. She squealed nervously as she swung across.

A gator lunged up and snapped at her, grabbing hold of her skirt and ripping most of it off. She screamed and fell into the water, flailing at the gator to give it back. Then she realized she was dealing with a gator and high-tailed it back to the side she came from as she whined rather loudly, "Mr. CHEFF!! The gator stole my skirt!!"

The cliff seemed a little more difficult that time...he arms and legs seemed a bit more tired than on the run before. He had slightly slipped a few times...but nothing worse than any of the slips before. He had been really good about not looking down, too.
He sat, for a bit longer than before, at the top of the cliff to catch his breath. Thoughts of the previous run began to fill his mind.

"Bah," he spat. "That was one mistake. I can do it right this time!" Ripley rose, and moved towards the gator pond.
As long as he held on to the rope, he would be fine. The gators, scary as they were, wouldn't really eat him (he hoped). He told himself these things over and over. He also tried his best to remember how awesome the swing had felt the first time. It had been pretty fun...Maybe this time would be fun, too.

Deciding to get it over with...Ripley grabbed the rope (again, making sure to really grab hold). Steeling all the resolve he had, he readied himself for a fourth leap into the air above the gator pond. He really, really hoped this would be successful.

He made it!! Ripley was very pleased he didn't land in the gator pit again. He barley noticed he was shaking a bit as he stood on the other side. He flexed his fingers...he hadn't been holding on to the rope too tightly, had he?
The swing was still not as fun as the first time...but it had been better than before.

Deciding to forget about the swing and the gators (or trying to anyway) Ripley moved towards the log crossing again. So far, he had been successful at this one. It barely frightened him at all. (Especially since it came after the gators.) Ripley chose to go with the same strategy that had helped him past this one twice before..and he charged towards the log. Hopefully, his luck would hold out and no feathered projectiles would get in his way.

The feathered projectiles didn't get in his way. In that area, his luck held.
But about half way across, his foot seemed to completely miss the log. Next thing he knew, Ripley was in a ball pit. Which was way better than a gator pit. Far less traumatizing. Though still not the easiest to crawl out of. Still, Ripley knew he could totally get across that log. Considering there was nothing truly frightening if he fell off...he had no real fear about trying the log again. So he did. Only this time, he made sure to take the time and watch where he put his feet.

That time, he made it across the log with very little problems. A sea gulls had whizzed by rather close to his face at one point....but somehow he hadn't been hit. He had been careful with his foot placement, which had paid off. His third run was finished!

By this time, Ripley had pretty much forgotten about those gators waiting in the middle of the course. Thus, he was headed back to the beginning, fully intent on trying for another run.

When he reached the beginning, he looked down at himself. Well, he certainly was covered in mud. It was even starting to dry in some places. "Time to change that," he muttered. Yeah, he did like this obstacle. It was not too difficult, if you stayed close to the ground. It was also a good excuse to get really dirty (which was surprisingly fun). Putting on his best 'guy in an army movie' face, he hunkered down for another crawl through the mud.
((Begin run 4!))

The path he had picked in the wire crawl this time had been squishier than any he had followed before. It had slowed him down just a little...but barley enough to notice. It was his favorite of the obstacles.

Next up, though, was the cliff. As he started towards the cliff, he began to notice that his arms and legs were still a bit tired from before. Between teh cliff climbs, the log running and the belly crawling (he had conveniently forgotten the rope swing) his limbs were starting to feel a bit weak. But not too much. He was sure he could make up the cliff again. It had been fine the times before. Surely it would be again.
Ripley reached out and grabbed the wall of earth in front of him. "Up we go," he said for the fourth time. It was almost like a luck charm, or something.

The cliff climb definitely took more time to complete that time around. Of course, going a bit slower, he only had one or two moments where he slipped a bit...he had more time to make sure his grip was good.
After scrambling over the edge of the cliff, he lay huffing and puffing. It really was getting harder with each go. After several minutes of rest, Ripley got up to head towards the next challenge.

That was when he remembered it involved gators. But he also remembered his little pep talks about the gators.

Ok. Three time before he had made it across without a problem. Only once he had actually fallen in. As long as he held the rope it would be fine. Yeah....he could do it again, no problem.
The incident from the second run actually seemed like quite a time ago. With that whole third run in between then and now.
Even so, Ripley couldn't completely forget the terror of the gators..and again he made doubly sure to hold on to that rope very tightly. Very, very tightly. With a deep breath, he readied himself for yet another leap across the gator pond.

Lizzy sighed heavily at what the new challenge was. An obstacle course. Certainly, in elementary school, she had to do obstacle courses for P.E., but it was definitely much easier looking than the monstrosity ahead of her.

I'm going to have to wash my jacket after this... damn... she thought to herself. Getting down on her belly, she began to crawl, inching her way forward slowly, underneath the wire, hoping she didn't get snagged by the pokey metal.

He had made it! Again!! Sure, he'd had his eyes closed for most of the swing over, but he had totally made it. Not gator landing this time! That failure in the second run was pushed even farther back in his mind with this success.
Pleased with himself, Ripley started towards the fourth obstacle...the log crossing.

Ok. This he had done before. Three times, even. Sure, he had messed up and fallen off that one time...but only into the ball bit. Nothing harrowing.
With a determined look on his face, the mud covered Audio decided to charge the log towards the log again. Of course, he would be careful about his footing this time. Those flying sea gulls barley crossed his mind, this time, too.

Slow and steady seemed to work out in the end, for Lizzy didn't get stuck at any point. Once she was clear of the wire, she stood up and made her way to the next obstacle. What was this nonsense? No safety equipment at ALL?!!!

Dusting off her jacket a bit, she then trudged forward to the cliff. Maybe if she took it nice and slow again, she'd be able to make her way up.

Too bad she didn't know about the hidden land mines, or she might have tried to dodge them.

Maybe it had been a good thing that Lizzy didn't know about the land mines after all. That way she didn't psyche herself out and get extra anxiety over the situation. Either way, the hooded girl made it up the edge of the cliff, slowly, but safely.

Coming up to the next obstacle, she couldn't help but jerk back initially upon seeing the green scaley creatures in the pit. The host really must have liked lawsuits or something, since if someone got eaten, he'd be sued up the butt. She frowned as she took up the rope. With a shrug, she made a swing to hopefully get across the pit.

Footing watched? Check! Not hit by the scary see gulls that came way to close to his face? Check! (He tried to make a mental note and be more mindful of those next time, that one almost hit him for real. Whose idea where those bird guns, anyway?) Made it across the log for a fourth time? Check!
Ripley was pleased as pie with himself for that run. It had been as good as his first. It also left him feeling almost as good as he had been after his first run.
Well, he could try the course one more time. And he was feeling rather good about the idea. The whole gator incident was completely forgotten for the moment. That time he fell off the log was rather un-troubling, and thus not in his mind at all. Grinning, Ripley ran around to the beginning of the course.

"One more time," he grinned. He could totally do this! With a rather pleased look, he dove down under the wire. Sure, it was another muddy spot, but that wasn't a problem. That was part of the fun. As he squished through the mud, he tried to stay as close to the ground as he could.

And the wire crawl was definitely his favorite. He sailed through it yet again. He was certainly very muddy now...but a shower would fix that. He could just jump in with his clothes on.

Up next was the cliff. He stretched a bit as he neared the base of it. One more time. He could do it! He had four other times before. Sure, his muscles were a bit tired, but that wouldn't be a problem. He was rather confident that he could make it up this again. "Up we go!" he said, gleefully. He had to say it. He had before every other climb...why stop now? With that, he started up the cliff...

Making a rather heavy landing, Lizzy couldn't help but imagine herself kissing the ground underneath her. She had more restraint to her than one could imagine, so actually doing such an action would not do. However, she at least appreciated the fact she didn't die in the middle of the process.

Her heart was beating quickly in her chest as she made her way to the final obstacle. A log and beavers? Beavers?!! At first, she mentally laughed and smiled at the idea of such an easy obstacle...

...until she saw someone get hit by the seagull gun. That small smile of hers turned back into a frown really quickly. Maybe those years of dodge ball as a kid would pay off, but the space on the log wasn't enough to work with.

EDIT: Several gulls were shot at her, which was a bit ironic due to her team being the Screaming Seagulls. However, she somehow seemed able to dodge the live ammunition by inches each time. And somehow she made it onto the other side.

She had 1 clean run of the obstacle course. For now, that was plenty good. Heaving a sigh, she sat down to watch the others as they made it past the beaver pit.

It was on Ripley's last run on the course he found out what made the cliff so difficult. There were land mines hidden in it. And he found one.
He wasn't sure what was the most shocking part. The explosion, the falling, or hitting the mattress at the bottom with the knowledge that he was going to try again.
Of course he was going to try again. He had to. This wasn't as scary as those gators....gators...they came after. Ripley shook his head. Right now, he had this cliff to climb. That is what he had to focus on. He was almost finished with the challenge. Completely finished. He wasn' t going to quite now. No way!

Taking a moment or two to gather his nerves, Ripley reached out for the cliff again. He didn't say anything this time. That obviously hadn't helped him out. No. This time, he was just going to climb...and hope he didn't run into anymore surprises in the cliff.
