Firebreathing Gekko

Kai watched as Ri jumped from the branch, diving into her arm. This way the dragon could search around easier, and faster. "Perhaps wait for them to get here?" she suggested. Ri had seen them heading this way earlier, Amaya and Gwen should be here soon.

Leena blinked, looking up to Kai. "Them?" For a moment she was confused by who she meant, then she understood. "Oh, Gwen and Amaya? They are close by?" She asked, sitting up a bit straighter. "Yes, that would be wise." She started to sing softly again, mostly just singing the melody of the song she had been singing before. It was something her mother had always sang to her and so it was a comfort to her.

Kai nodded. "The elf princess and her ranger." she confirmed, tilting her head and looking to Vadasz curiously. "Didn't she try and shoot you? Then play with your bird self?" she asked, not entirely sure. She could very well be confusing him and Gwen with completely different people.

At this point, Dais arrived at the location where the others were. He was so deep in thought that he didn't notice Aldon playing his eye patch on his shoulder.

{edit}

Leena spotted Dais comign towards them, raising an eyebrow since he almost seemed as in thought as she was. "Everything alright Dais?" She asked softly, pausing mid song, ignoring how she heard Vadasz climbing down the tree.

Vadasz's one eyebrow twitched a little but he still smirked and nodded once, "Yeah... that would be Gwen." He answered, sighing heavily at the memory. Oh that had been fun... He nimbly climbed down to lower branches, concerned as to why Leena was so conflicted and worried at this moment. He could take guesses, or delve deeper into her emotions, but he didn't really want to invade her persons that much.

Kai followed Vadasz down, though rather than climb nimbly down she just fell of the branch, catching herself on another before hitting the ground and sitting down beside Leena. "Leena?" she asked softly, wanting to know what was bothering her. She didn't have quite the boundaries that Vadasz did.

((Hmm... puzzles, sounds interesting.))

Leena's voice stopped him from walking into a tree. It was unnatural for him to be so uncomposed. It had been happening more recently lately.

"Hm?" Dais looked up at Leena and nodded. The girl had been singing, but Dais had ignored it completely. The hawk was moving about and descending the tree.

Then, Aldon dangled the eyepatch in front of Dais's face. Dais caught his breath and quickly took the eyepatch away from Aldon, giving him a discerning look, which the ferret completely ignored. The assassin placed the eyepatch in his pouch.

[edit]

Leena was watching him carefully, but he nodded so she guessed that he either didn't want to say or he hadn't noticed. So she let it go, looking up as Kai came down. "Well, I know whose heading the bandits, why they are doing this to their own people, and that the rebellion is just another piece of that." She gave a sort of sarcastic scoff, running a hand through her hair, looking up at the sky. "Almost all of the council is behind this. They want to usurp me from the throne. Or thats their aim. Only Mal and Walter are against it all." She said softly, basically in a voice that only their small group would hear. She had noticed the eyepatch, wondering why Dais was so against it.

Vadasz landed lightly on his feet on the other side of Leena, raising an eyebrow at how Dais wasn't surprised to suddenly see the hawk in human form, but it was a welcome response. "They what?! Thats treason! Right?" He did get a bit confused with politics hence why he normally avoided it.

Kai paused, nodding. "Usually. Plotting to murder your queen and sell her to the dumpling maker down the street usually is considered treason. Or was it a threat to send children and animals there... Hmm." Kai trailed off, shrugging. "Either way, Leena, I could turn them all into animals if you like." she offered as though it were as common as offering to give her a couple coins.

((Ah, will you be using one here?

Oops, I missed that V was in human not hawk form. I'll just have Dais not notice because he was deep in thought and fix that now.))

As a pair of feet landed, Dais noticed that the hawk was gone, and now there was another man that had not previously been with them. He hadn't noticed before since he had been so deep in thought. A were creature then. If Dais was surprised, again, he didn't show anything.

The topic of their conversations was interesting though. A rebellion, treason, betrayal. If this motley group planned on joining against Altarion, it wasn't going to happen if their own countries were giving them major internal stress. He inwardly laughed at Kai's response. "What are they planning to do?" He asked, with the hope that the council had no intention of joining with Altarion.

(( I have been thinking about it. It would be a good place for people to hide. x3

Hahaha, it's ok! ^_^ ))

Leena laughed at what Kai was offering, shaking her head a bit. "Somehow I'm not sure that would help. Though I appreciate it Kai." She said, giving her friend a warm smile. Raising her eyes to Dais' question, she glanced towards the town, taking a moment to gather her thoughts before answering. "Well, if one creates unrest in the kingdom that already distrusts it's half-blood queen, it will lead to a rebellion. The bandits are a group that the council has gathered to attack the outer villages to try and make me look incompetent and wear me thin. Generally people don't like it if there's a trained force in their town, some view it as potential for a dictatorship. In any case, it'll flame the small group thats already planning to rebel against me and cause it to grow. A rebellion killed my father after all, why wouldn't it work for me?" That last question she stated in a sort of sarcastic yet matter of fact kind of way. Her brown eyes softened, if not grew a bit sad, clearing her throat.

"Hence why it's also a debate on what we do once we leave and meet up with Gwen and Amaya. If we go back to the city, there's always the risk of those shadows, and now the council and the rebels. Only reason they haven't tried to kill me in the palace is because I have too many spirits keeping an eye out that would stop them." She answered, mulling it over for a moment since her thoughts were gathered at this point. "The bandit I interrogated didn't seem to think they would join Altarion, but at the same time I wouldn't put it past them. They do love their kingdom, but they are obviously corrupted old men who can't have open minds." She almost spat the words out, her hands tightening into fists as she could remember how they treated her mother and her when she was growing up, and even now.

"Leena they love their wealth. Power corrupts. I'm sure there's some saying about that which I would mix up and it'd loose all meaning, but the point is the same. You're different, and they're a bunch of self-absorbed asses who can't laugh and only plot and "fix" things. The kingdom wouldn't object if you removed them. The rebels might, but you could beat back anything they say if you explain that they're trying to kill you. Ri's been all over when people don't guard what they say. You're better liked than you think, Leena." Kai said quietly, meaning every word. She wouldn't lie to Leena, especially not about something like this. Not that she could lie even if she wanted to, but that was beside the point.

Dais only nodded at Leena's first dialogue. Rebellions tended to do that. But he still wondered if Altarion had a hand in the council plans. Of course, it was painfully obvious that Altarion was after the rest of the kingdoms. It was just a matter of which one or ones he would target first. The weaker ones would fall first.

Dais raised an eyebrow at the mention of Amaya and Gwen. He had not heard the earlier conversations between Kai and Leena. Amaya and Gwen? Oh, cripes. Amaryllis. The name Amaya was familiar to him. How could it not be?

This would not do. If they were meeting up, he would have to leave for their safety. If Altarion knew where he was and that he would be with the royalty of Mereth and Aduial, Altarion could decide to wipe them out in one shot. Even with his expertise, he couldn't fend off everything that Altarion had... However, the risk was still not as big as it could be. Altarion was interested in Amaya's actions and thought her too weak to even be a threat.

But Dais was going to have to make a decision soon. He wasn't about to let the "quest" to defeat Altarion be ended in one fell swoop.

Leena turned her eyes to Kai as she spoke, pausing as she thought it over, knowing she'd probably have to chose men to take their place, but she could worry about that later. "There is proof of them attempting to kill me so it would hold in court." She murmured, pausing, lowering her eyes at the last part of what she had. "See? It's because I've been around those dotards too long. They must be brainwashing me." She gave a light chuckle, suddenly hugging Kai. "Thanks Kai." She said softly, pulling back, honestly quite touched.

She glanced up to Dais since he seemed thoughtful again. "Dais, whats wrong?" She almost asked if he knew anything about what she had sensed earlier, with the new spirit that had just come from a live body, but she had no real way of knowing if he had been there. She wondered if he'd dodge the question or answer it since he sort of dodged her question earlier.

Kai laughed, returning the hug and nodding in agreement. "They are. Told you so." she said teasingly, sticking her tongue out at her friend before following her gaze to Dais, tilting her head to the side as she watched him and waited for his response to that.
