I took this photo just outside my front door! They just sprouted over night! What I immediately thought was "even fungus can be pretty" and that is the idea i want to portray. that no matter what you are, everyone & everything is beautiful in their own way! Again, no edits...

i hope i am answering all the questions...

Submission 4 - Deer Kisses

Actually taken by my mother, but it is of me!
My mother works at a hunting lodge (i know sad right!) but she gets to bottle feed the baby deer!!! and i got to help one day, and this little boy decided he would give me kisses! so i guess the message i hope to relay is that animals appreciate/love us as much as we love them and they show it in their own way! No edits made.

this is a creepy house!!! and i wanted to capture that creepy feeling... this is on the way to my moms house, on the side of the road... i had to stop and take this pic... i actually took about 10 and this was my fav! it looks like one of those houses that are in horror movies that the people always go into and the killer is in there... thats what i wanted to capture, and i think i did! this angle was the best of them all cause it captures the whole building, and not the road next to it! no edits made... was taken with a 35 mm w/ b&w film

What's the main focus: The water cascading over the rock and how the light hits it
Where you took the photo: Dunns River Fall in Jamaica on my Spring Break Vacation.
What message you want to convey via the picture: Nature is beautiful and mysterious...We need to take time and appreciate nature for what it really is.
Why did you take the picture that way: I saw the light hitting the waterfall and I thought it was so beautiful...I just had to take a picture. It was like God had sent a beam of light down to highlight the waterfall.
I didn't edit this picture =)

The main focus in this picture are some close friends of mine, Raven and Casey. I took this picture while we were visiting friends at their ranch house north of Houston, Texas. The message of this particular photo is one of new love and caring of others. (They had no idea I was capturing them in time.) I took the picture like I did because I felt capturing it vertically with the trees overhead would pose better than capturing more of the landscape among them. Positioning them in the photo like I did, allowed not too much overhead foliage, and not too much landscape. The only thing I contributing in editing to this photo would be the frame, other than that, no editing was made.

"OMG wow!
If you're what I'm up against...I stand no chance Dx
Lol I love your first and third picture they're gorgeous!"

DISCLAIMER: The picture above, unfortunately, is not mine.

no bigger pic
this is a vintage 1957 Chevy Bel Air! taken at my mom's boyfriend's house in his back pasture... ther has to be 20+ cars out there like this... this is my favorite of them all. i wanted to get the abandoned, nature taking back feel like if all the people just dissappeared all cars would look like that! i took a couple different shots of this car and this is my fav! it captures the classic body of the bel air and the plants growing up around it. photo has been cropped, but nothing other then that...

This is a picnic table behind the office where i work. it just looks inviting to me. when it isn't too hot or raining or too cold i like to sit out there on my lunch break! this pic gives me the feeling of peace, and tranquility... it is very calm, and quiet, so that it what i would like it to convey. slight contrast change, but no other edits.

another overgorwn house on my way to my aunts house, i couldn't get very close cause i wasn't gonna get bitten by snakes in tall grass... lol i think it would look better in b&w, but i like how the greenery looks. again i wanted to portray the feeling of abandonment & mother nature taking over. i seem to see a trend in my photos lol. no edits made...

i think i answered all the questions... *hopes*

submission #2 :: TOAST

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

What the picture is of :: This picture is of the inside of a toaster oven [in other words, the slot at the top that you put the bread in]. I imagine it's somewhat difficult to imagine what this picture is of when you first look at it, & I view that as an incredibly good thing in this case.
Where the picture was taken :: In the kitchen of my parents house.
What message you want the picture to convey :: I'm sure I could easily make up some super-meaningful message this picture conveys, but I'd rather not. The reason I decided to submit this photo to this contest is not because of what the picture means, but because I believe that it's highly creative in an aesthetic manner & speaks highly of the "artistic eye" & photography skills of the photographer [that is, me]. I suppose, however, that it does convey very strongly an important message about photography. This photo demonstrates that, with enough creativity & "risk-taking", even the most mundane of objects can be quite interesting in a photograph. Hopefully this photo will cause all photographers who underestimate the importance of angles to think again.
Why you took the picture the way you took it :: The completely unique & unexpected angle at which I took this photo is what makes it interesting. I think that, in order to be a good photographer, it's essential that people are able to really think outside the box in regards to the angle at which the photo is taken at. Usually people don't have an opportunity to take pictures of very interesting & rarely seen things; instead, people have to make the ordinary world around them seem much more interesting through a camera lens.
Computer edits that were made to the photo :: This photo wasn't digitally edited much at all. I touched up the colours & fixed the lighting, & that was basically it.

submission #3 :: THE GREAT BEYOND

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Background info on photo :: This is a photo of the floor in a dark room [duh]. This photo was taken in a house I used to live in.
Message/mood this photo conveys :: I believe this photo definitely envokes certain moods in people, & whatever message people may gather from this photo is formed through the mood it creates. I believe the photo definitely has a sense of feelings of hopelessness & sadness to it. However, if I had to describe the photo's feel & message in one word, it would be "mystery". Why mystery? Because obviously if that photo was taken in the daylight, at the exact same angle, tons of stuff would be there. However, because of the photo's lighting, you have no idea what's beyond the darkness. I really like how, even though the photograph is incredibly simple, it has a lot of substance & can be very thought-provoking. This photo proves that even something as simple as lighting can make an otherwise totally boring photo very interesting.
Why I took the photo the way I did :: I took the photo at the angle that I did because the best way I could think of to make a photo of darkness mean much of anything was to take it from the floor. I wanted just enough of the floorboards to be in the photo as to give the darkness an obvious parrallel. The floorboards also give the photo a really good sense of space. The lighting in this photo is obviously incredibly important. Naturally, the contrast of the visible floorboards & the darkness, but also the different degrees of lighting that are on the floorboards. That lighting creates a definite sense of movement; the farther away you get from the camera, the further into the darkness you go. I believe the lighting definitely gives this photo a "venturing into the unknown" feel that wouldn't be there if the angle & lighting wasn't just right.
Computer edits done to the photo :: Naturally, it would be pretty impossible to take a photo with such a dramatic contrast in dark & light without any editing. Mainly I just tweaked with the contrast & lighting in the photo to make the lighting the way I wanted it.
