Steely Dan stepped out the back door of the Watch House, exiting the locker room in full armor-- chest plate, leg plating, greaves, boots, codpiece, protective, shoulder plates, and full-arm gauntlets-- with his massive Zweihänder over his shoulder. He wore no helmet, but was smoking a cigar as he made his way toward the wagon that Chickenwire was hitching up to a pair of large horses.

"Clang 'n' Large are on top o' the riot sitch-ation," he called as he climbed up into the back of the wagon, which creaked and groaned under the weight of the steel that covered the heavy man's frame. Chickenwire pulled himself up quickly into the driver's seat, glancing back at the other Watchmen who had volunteered to reinforce FEF, whatever they were doing.

There were pitifully, but not surprisingly, few.

"'S move out! Follow what th' lady said, an' keep movin'! Be on guard, yeh lot," he added as he sat at the back of the wagon. Chickenwire lashed the reins, and the horses took off, turned, and made their way out the north gate and up toward the mountains.

Again, she was alone. Leena had heard the call to arms again, and watched as few, but enough members of Dan's own squad went pouring out. She sighed, sitting by the forge that the Watch had purchased. Although she shared company with a few others, the ring-forging young woman could only do one thing as she waited for her friends' return. May it be hasty. Until then... I'll keep forging for you.

Getting teary-eyed like other civilian women would do the Watch no good, but Leena's hard work sure would.

Maybe here, she could master it... this was a much bigger forge. Just maybe, the could start to get on the right path to forging a Dragonshield. Before going to work, the vendor took out a small sack lunch she'd packed upon leaving the shop barricades. As a fond farewell, she waved to each of those brave men and women leaving the Watch house... May the Goddess keep 'em safe to return to my new creations.

The owner of the magical and non-magical jewelry shop then laid out her father's old plans for the Dragonshield. She studied it... and prepared to smelt her first successful one just for Dan when he finally returned. Captains get the new items first when I finally finish them. My second one's gonna be for you... Leon.

Annis the Raven

PostPosted: Mon Jun 29, 2009 2:07 pm

How long had she been asleep in that forested place? It was morning, definitely, Annis knew that much as she ran river-dampened hands through her hair to smooth down the flyaway strands. She felt rested, at least, and even if it was morning, she couldn't have missed that much...

"Better check up on the others," Annis murmured. She spread her wings wide, plucking a loose feather out of the left appendage before leaping off of the ground and into the air. Her hands brushed against her thighs--good, both daggers were still there--and then folded to her sides as she rocketed through the air. Her wings beat heavily against the air, cleaving through and forcing her along. It was as she was passing over the city that she noticed the large wagon heading out of town, towards the mountain.

"That's a little out of the ordinary," Annis mused. She put a hand at her chin, watching them go for a few minutes. Her wings beat idly, keeping her in a hovering position. She could spy a few armored men, and the vaguely familiar Chickenwire taking the driver's seat at the very front. Seen that guy a couple times... probably at some point when I saw large, she thought. So she knew who they were, but follow to see what was going on, or ignore it and get to finding some food? Food sounded good.

But this was probably the best time to figure out why some heavily armored men were heading off for the mountains.

The indecision didn't last long, though; she rubbed a hand absentmindedly against the left side of her neck, then flew along above the wagon, taking care to keep her distance. If Blondie was hitching a ride, it would be best to not attract her attention.

"Pressing matters?" he echoed, eying the townsfolk below him. He did have a matter to attend to, but he trusted it was already taken care of... "Oh, no. Not really. Going for Mika herself sounds a lot more fun anyway." He then eyed the raven for a moment, his expression eerily playful. "I suspect that's what you wanna do."

He performed something of a barrel roll as the manipulated current of wind suddenly changed course, taking the two of them in a great arc as they soared for a different destination. Neros cheerily spanned his wings, glad he did not need to waste energy on flapping, allowing a song to leak into his little mind as he went. He did remain discreet as he skimmed the rooftops and avoided exposing either of them to the townsfolk.

He soared too far ahead to notice men were moving out. But it was inevitable; they would all end up at the same destination in some way or other. And if not, there'd at least be some sort of connection.

"I'm not even angry," he hummed, flying upside down once more, "I'm being so sincere right now — even though you broke my heart and killed me...~"

"Going for Mika herself sounds a lot more fun anyway...I suspect that's what you wanna do."

Vika couldn't contain her joy any longer. She giggled once again, a bit stronger than her previous one. This man certainly knew how to be a charmer, didn't he? "It is," she murmured.

He shifted the air currents around and took off along them. Vika spread her wings further and trailed after him. No matter what was going to happen here...she had an ally in the matter. And that's what mattered. That, and destroying Mika.

She could almost hear him humming. She remained silent and coasted alongside him, her mind playing scenarios of those about to come.

The Watch lined up at the gate, Ghis at the head, Mihira and Charice in front, the two of them leading the way. They were a good deal faster than the somewhat-exhausted Watch, so they took their time, going slowly to avoid any straggling morphs or beasts down below.

"Soo... where is this undead dragon?" Charice asked, looking confused. She and Mihira were pretty high up, which meant they could see for miles around. They were unable to see any giant undead dragons.

Charice frowned as her eyes scanned the horizon, south to north... So there is nothing here? But there was definitely a battle here... there's charred trees and vegetation about, along with a bunch of dead soldiers in grayish armor. They all look identical...

One thing that was for sure--she couldn't see anybody that looked like a Hero...

"Wait a second. What's that?"

Smoke was rising from a clearing off to the north. "A campfire so close to this battlefield?" she inquired, staring off towards the smoke. "Let's go take a look..."

"I.. I don't... w-we're too late. Everyone is gone."
She looked up at Charice, as she spoke again, then in the direction the peg knight was looking.
"A-ah! It has to be them! Yes, we will go there. I will return to my captain and inform her at once! Please let your commander know."
With that, she turned her wyvern around and soared back to the castle, as quickly as her wyvern could carry her.

Navigating around the castle proved to be more troublesome than she had suspected. Not only did she have to make sure to avoid people, Sophia needed to arrive at the spot Kris had selected for her or else she would have no chance of getting out of castle. There was always the slim possibility that she could get out with someone else, but she wasn’t sure she could take the chance. So, she would sneakily make her way through the halls, so that she might avoid being caught and placed back inside her gilded cage of a room. She had never been much for action, but sitting around to be left to do nothing but worry was nerve racking.

As she turned a corner, Sophia slipped and tripped over her dress. A soft thud echoed through the hallway due to her impact; quickly catching the attention of one of the maids that had just exited a room she had been cleaning. Oh no! Sophia panicked as she hurriedly picked herself from the ground and scrambled into another hall without being noticed. Well, that’s what she thought until she heard a dreadfully familiar voice.

"WHERE THE HELL IS ALL THE BLOODY CREEEEEEEW?!"

“Eep,” Sophia couldn’t help but yelp before her hands managed to cover her mouth. She felt the color drain from her face as she realized that tiny peep had probably ruined all her plans. It wasn’t worth running away; she would never get away anyhow. Best to just stand firm and take responsibly; she owed the woman and answer since she had called out to the crew.

“Uh umm…” Sophia said trying to make intelligible words come from her lips. She had turned the corner once again and come face to face with the woman known as Vaida. The strongwoman seemed to tower of her, making Sophia almost feel small and insignificant. No, she had to be brave… and ridiculously glad this woman was on their side. “C-can… I help you with… anything?”

xxxxx"If you're worried about surviving, xxxxxxxyou can worry about it after you're dead!"
"The wyvern riders of Bern sit atop the heap of all other forces on the continent!" xxxxx "You will see our power soon!"

A timid coo came from behind her. Vaida turned around to see an actual crew, though not the most preferable one for battle or orders. Still, as crew, she did have command over her.

"Can you help me? You're in command here, girl! I thought the crew had all left the castle! You know of the riots, yes? You know what they say? We both know it's fodder, but there's still fighting going on. I've sent a scout out to investigate and find the members. The watch are helping us, too. A whole load of them are helping bolster the castle's defense. But until my scount arrives, there's not really-"

"CAPTAIN VAIDA!"
Mihira came rushing around the corner. She had just arrived a moment ago, and was told where the captain was, and off she went, as quickly as she could. She ran up to Vaida and stopped, breathing heavily. "Captain... w-we've... found them!" She took a moment a swallowed, trying to catch her breath. "They're camped north of where the battle took place! The watch are on their way now, to aid them."

Vaida smile grew very wide, now that something was finally happening. "Good! At least we know they're safe for now. Still, the fighting isn't over yet, I'm sure."

By this point, Mihira had caught her breath, and was attentively listening to her captain speak. "Yes Ma'am! Shall I give the order to get ready and move out?"

At the question, Vaida turned to the little crew girl, almost forgetting that she was standing there. Her gaze seemed to make the girl nervous, but that would just have to be something the girl would need to learn to get used to. Vaida looked down upon her, though not in an undermining manner. "Yeah, CREW..... shall I?" An eager grin escaped her face, probably making her look more scary.

Sophia hadn’t expected Vaida’s words; she hadn’t expected them at all. To think she was in charge, it almost scared her witless. Considering the way she had been stuck in her room for so long, like some princess trapped in a castle, she had little knowledge of the current goings on. That was until Kris busted her out and informed her. It if wasn’t for that… girl… boy… girly boy, boyish girl… thing…? Just what was Kris? Well, that didn’t matter. If it wasn’t for Kris, Sophia would still be in the dark about so many things.

No sound escaped from her throat as she listened to what went on between the captain and her subordinate. Though she knew Vaida, Sophia had never laid eyes on the other girl. Not that it mattered now, but Sophia always found herself wanting to introduce herself to new people she met despite her timid nature. Naturally it always proved to be a challenge for her, but she managed somehow. It was no walk in the park for her, that’s for sure though.

“Eh?” She said softly, nearly jumping when Vaida redirected her attention to the girl. She had been so lost in her thoughts that where she was had almost slipped her mind. How rude of her, she had been lucky this time to catch the last bit of the conversation in full so that she might respond properly. Shyness still threatened her, but she did her best to look determined. “Yes. And… I’m going with you.” Even though her voice remained soft, it was firm.

"Oh, ARE you now?" Vaida stared down at the shaman intimidatingly. After a slight pause, the wyvern lord let out an amused chuckle. "Sounds kick a** to me!" She turned to her subordinate. "Mihira! Go give the order! We'll be up momentarily. Get going!" After seeing Mihira dash off, when when she signified that she understood, by responding. Vaida turned back to Sophia. "So.. shall we? Mihira's got a ride with your name on it." She grinned and walked off, to set out.
