Max sipped his coffee some more. There were some new people coming into the Dining Hall, and it was feeling less like a study. He flicked his hair back and blinked. There were some twins coming into the building. They sat down at a table and ate loudly. Then there were two others. One turned his arm into what looked like ice. Soon, a girl he could tell was new came into the building. She ordered some food and seemed a little anxious. He laughed quietly and sipped more of his coffee, and finished his bagel. He liked the way the mug kept his coffee warm. He slowly sipped as he watched the people in the hall. It was slowly gaining volume and he started to feel home again. He sighed and looked at the ceiling. He remembered his mornings, getting ready for his old public school. Then there was walking to school. He never really liked doing that. He wished he could have just woken up and been there. His wish had come true. When his parents signed the paperwork for him to transfer to Ria. Those were the best minutes of his life. He never quite liked public school. He was gifted, so the classes bored him. Then there was that fateful day in the forest. He sipped at his coffee and remembered that day.



He could remember it very clearly, though it had been nearly 4 months ago that he had found Ria. There he was, jogging through the hills of his farm in northern France. He had come across a forest he hadn't noticed before back there. He decided to explore. It brought back memories of when he was a curious eight-year-old. Ah, how innocent he was back then. He had no fear of the hills. Not like now, after the incident with the bear... He cringed at the thought of that. He still had the scar on his back from the bears claws. Luckily, that was when he discovered his... gift. He stepped slowly into the forest, kicking a trail in the fallen leaves to find his way back to the hills. He kept on following a strange light, almost a glint from something... then he had come upon it. The large iron bar gates that were the entrance to Ria High School. He opened the gates and found a strange person, she seemed mechanical, like in the stories he had loved to read, and still did to this day.

'Welcome to Ria High School, What is your name?' She had asked. 'Max... who are you?' he had asked. 'I'm Lilith, may I see your registration letter?' she asked. 'I don't have one... he said slowly. 'Wait a minute--registration letter? For what?' he asked quickly. He was starting to think this was a dream. 'Ria High School, of course, school for the... paranormally gifted. Current Headmaster: Headmaster Mattus.' she said as though it were a tape recorder. He stared silently at her and after about a minute of a staring contest he couldn't win, asked: 'How do I become registered?' She replied: 'Fill out this form!' She reached around her back and pulled out a packet. Some of the blanks were: Name, Arts, age, height and weight. He ran back home and filled out the form. He kept it a secret from his parents until it was winter break at school. He slowly stepped up to his parents and meekly asked: 'Mom, Dad... I found a... school in the hills.' 'That's preposterous!' his parents replied. 'A school in the woods, what a crazy lie!' his mother exclaimed. His cheeks burned. He could feel the anger welling up in himself, and some water started to float around him. His parents gasped and he looked at them. 'Remember that bear attack in the woods?' he asked. The nodded. 'It wasn't a geyser that saved me, it was a puddle. I used the water in the puddle to blind the bear so I could get away.' 'How did you "use the puddle?"' theyasked. He explained to them his gift, and they accepted everything as it was. 'We knew, son,' they said. 'Because we're like that too.' Max turned pale. He had thought they would think him a freak. He had no idea they were... "paranormally gifted" as Lilith the android had said. 'Where is the form?' asked his mother as she put the water back into the assorted pots and cups that it had been in. 'Right here,' he said as he took a form from behind his back and handed it to them. They filled out the form, and transfered him from his public school. Soon, he was venturing out to the Ria High Gates. Lilith was the same, the gates were the same, the only thing different was the atmosphere. When he had been there before, all the students were in their classes, now they were all over the school. Talking, meeting new people, or just plain hanging out. He gave his registration form to Lilith the android and was off to explore the school. Now he was in the dining hall, sipping some coffee and people watching.



"Darn it! I ran out of coffee!" he said to himself. He went back up to the machine and ordered some more, then sat down and watched again.

"I guess I can...So where do we go from here?"He changed his armor back to his regular clothes.He then sat down and then closed his eyes."I forgot,I will introduce to another one of my friends,her name is Rai."He wondered where she was around here.

"She probably is there,lets go find out."He then put his hands in his pockets and walked out the door,he headed to the South Courtyard.He was hopeing to find her there.

Fayth held out a hand and said, " The names Fayth and its nice to meet you..." She stared at Max wondering why he looked to wide awake. Then continued " I just arrived here today so I'm still learning were everything is and your the first person I've met here."

She laughed for the first time in awhile. Seeing him drink all that coffee was quite humorous. " Huh you arrived yesterday? You seem like you've been here awhile!" Fayth was a little surprised due to the fact he looked like a seasoned student here.

"Sure I'd love to! See as how I don't know were anything is..." Fayth said while smiling nervously. While she waited for him to finish his coffee they had a conversation on what went on here at Ria.
