Cheeks flushed all the more in her embarasment as the girl turned to face her. There was an air around her of gracefulness and Nelioa was quite aware she had just ruined that for the time being. She cleared her throat and appologised again. "so sorry" she said in a half whisper.
She brushed away a strand of hair that had come loose from her braid, too short to be properly bound with the rest of her hair. He mouth was agape, having just been about to say something before her wrist was grabbed and she was pulled up front near the girl. "Oh, Thank you!" she stamered, the random act of kindness assuring her that all really had been forgiven. "I'm Nelioa" she said, turning to the girl and offeing a smile.
Blue eyes quickly turned away when shen heard the hiss from the sands. Another bronze had joined the first and they didnt appear happy to see one another. Had that been what the first Bronze had been waiting for all this time? She bit down on her bottom lip in fear of what might happen to the little ones if they chose to squabble.

Jahangir really hated being so short compared to some of the others and shifted around a bit so he could see the dragons better. Finally he managed to shift into a spot with a better view, just in time to see another egg hatch, a bronze one at that. He admired them from his place but really didn't hold much hope that he would impress either of them. Jahangir just didn't believe he was bronze potential. He always pictured bronze riders as the men that stood high over everyone else, while he barely reached the chin of others.

"That would be me," Zara replied, a hint of a wry tone in her voice. "Thank him for me, would you? Wouldn't want him to think I've forgotten him, after all." The reserved young woman had been utterly charmed by Dievath, and even now there was a soft spot in her heart for him. Not nearly as big as Fuxith's, of course, but that was a given. Nobody could take her lifemate's place.
As a second bronze cracked shell, Zara's eyes traveled to the sound. "Well, if that isn't something," she murmured, biting her lip slightly in worry. Would the posturing distress both hatchlings to the point of between? Would their golden mother allow that to happen? Shells...for all that she'd learned, for all that she'd seen...this was a new one.

Luckily for Koios, he was one of the few who wasn't exhausted from the long day and his delicious dinner, and he was still wide awake when the humming began. He'd jumped out of bed and readied himself within moments, rushing with all the other Candidates towards the sands, which hopefully would cool a bit with the sun setting.
He slowed at the entrance and offered the Queen a gracious bow, and shuffled along with the others onto the sands. Four hatched seemingly within moments, but so far only two had Impressed - and the slender boy watched the two bronzes eagerly. He hadn't heard of two bronzes being born together like that, and they hadn't Impressed yet - well, the one that hatched first hadn't. He seemed content to just... sit there. Koios smiled inwardly as the elder bronze held his head higher when the other hissed. Yes, whoever Impressed these two certainly had their hands full. They were lucky, though, the two bronzes were simply gorgeous.

When the clumsy green emerged from her egg Firyal's attention was riveted. She did want to Impress more than anything, despite her affected indifference toward the whole Hatching process most of the time. Even as Lernaeth came toward the Candidates, though, knocking one of the Candidates, Firyal knew the pale green was not coming for her. She wanted to begrudge the newest Greenrider his new, perfect future, but she couldn't for the sake of her endearing bondmate. It was better that someone else Impress the dragonet than that she not find her life partner and go between.
Which drew Firyal's attention once more to the unImpressed bronze dragonet. Surely there was someone on the Sands for him. For a bronze to pass between would be a calamity of momentuous proportions. Not to mention tragic. She couldn't even imagine how the Weyr would react to such a disaster. She didn't want to think about it, but the fact was it seemed to be turning into a possibility. The bronze still hadn't Impressed, and now a new one was on the Sands, distracting him.

"Yes!" Kyllae cheered quietly, when the egg cracked to reveal another bronze. Leaning over to confide in Nelioa, "I had a lot of money riding on those two eggs being bronzes," she explained. T'ka owed her big time! T'ka fancied she might be able to purchase a flit egg if any more of her bets came true.
While Kyllae had been happy to be solitary, this was so much more exciting with someone to talk to! Of course, talking was discouraged on the sands...but she was whispering. She figured that was okay. She winked at Nelioa and returned the smile, ever the openly friendly one. "So nice to run into you; or to have you run into me," she teased, but not unkindly. Seeing and sensing a little of her new acquiantance's nervousness, she felt the need to reassure her. Hatchings were supposed to be a happy thing! "Don't worry, their mother won't let it get out of control. They'll be fine," she whispered, trying her best to be soothing. It was true, wasn't it. The queen couldn't fail to notice her offspring's antics. She would step in if things went sour. Who knew, maybe a little competition was a good thing!
Kyllae whiped her face again, taking a deep breath to try and rid herself of the ache in her chest. What a bother and a distraction that tingle was. The headache wasn't helping either.

Mathyn grunted, he understood that this was a competition he could not pummel his way through and it was so frustrating. Frustrating that the young men thought they stood a better chance up front and seemed to force themselves onto the first bronze.
He made a choice he would at least allow himself to be seen, abandoning the fact he'd seen a hatchling jostle an entire group of candidates to find its bonded. He tossed up his elbows to nudge a few of the candidates so he could step forward and squeezed his way towards the front. He felt like a jerk, but he wanted a closer look, wanted to see if they would come to blows.
"Sorry," he murmured and found himself out front. You're foolish, someone'll yell at you next, he scolded himself but he was near the dragonets.

"Great..." Rinfala groaned as a second bronze spilled onto the sand, and the pair decided to take up posturing. It didn't bode well, any more than two stallions getting into the same pasture. When this kind of thing happened...well, someone could get hurt. The best she could do was hope that it wouldn't be the dragonets, and hopefully it wouldn't be her either. The last thing she needed was to be knocked out of this Hatching, and maybe the next, by a careless move from a clumsy dragonet.

Nelioa leaned over in order to hear Kyllae better, and not wanting to take her eyes off the little bronzes. She was worried about them, and it showed in her expression. "Money? You had a bet going? well congrats are in order I suppose. " she said with a soft smirk, though her brow was still furrowed with worry.
"I think we have that little green to thank for our chance encounter." she said, her smile more sincere this time as she tried to let her unease drain away from her with the friendly banter. It wouldnt help the little ones to feel all her worry in the air would it? She tried to sooth herself more and sighed. "No.. certainly the queen will step in if needed... Maybe they are just going to display and then find their boys." she said, truely hoping it would be so. She didnt wish to think of the alternitive.

Almost in the same instant as Okassis, Ceanandin shifted his stance as well. His thoughts were along the same lines; the arrival of the second bronze was certainly welcoming, and only served to bolster his hopes for an Impression. However, the earlier bronze seemed less than pleased by his clutchmate's arrival, and the last thing they needed was a fight between dragonets. He wasn't sure if it would come to that, he had never heard of dragonets hurting each other at a Hatching, but he was ready to interject should it come to that. Calm down, little ones. The Sands are no place for a fight.

ConomorMine, step up to meet your Naedreth, The bronze's now green eyes focused on the boy, flaring his wings and standing tall. Those others were anxious to meet theirs, but Yours was patient -- Yours wanted to make the best choice.
Calm now, Naedreth moved towards Conomor, his green eyes whirling in a friendly manner, almost seeming to glitter. The Death Adder kept to where he had hatched, waiting until Naedreth had Impressed before raising his head, looking towards the Candidates, his head sweeping in an arc to look at them all, one by one, until finally it settled on His. MineThe Death Adder pushed it's way a little aggressively through the crowd, amazingly sure-footed as he approached Okassis, his eyes calm once more, despite the slightly threatening sound to his voice. It seemed as though he was not quite through being angry at the prideful Euro Adder, his dragonet body coiled and tense, as if ready to strike at any who tried to get in his way. He knew what he wanted, knew who was His. He would let the Euro Impress first, but His was better. You are not for him. Do not look at him like that, for while he thinks he is great, he is not. You are Mine -- look not at any bronze but Uktenath. I will not give you up to him, nor any other.

Surprisingly, it was the shy little blue that made his choice. Or maybe it wasn't such a surprise after all- he looked like he wanted to be done and off the sands, away from prying eyes. It was as good a motivation as any. Though Jai felt the familiar disappointment that a valid color had passed him by, he was nonetheless happy the little blue found someone that would make him happy. He had felt bad, seeing the little dragonet looking so distressed and frightened. He smiled as its chosen edged through the group and closed the distance to lead the little creature away.
The bronze was still taking it time glancing about the sands and as it searched, it seemed another egg took the chance to start shaking and hatching. It was the silly little egg laying on its side! True to its 'nature', the dragonet seemed to be attempting to hatch out the bottom surface of the egg as opposed to the top. Jaid may have been been disappointed to see the previous Blue Impress someone that was not he, but he couldn't hold back a laugh. He watched as she ambled to the girls, clumsily tripping before reaching its bonded. Once again, he thought back to his musing at the hatching- yes, this one seemed as though it would be either the life of the party or a good laugh all the same! Once again, another dragonet Impressed readily before the wandering bronze did, and once again Jai was overlooked. He found he didn't mind so much, though...greens tended to be awful Flightlusty by nature and well...that was still a notion that made him terribly uneasy.
Not too soon after the little green was lead away, the second big egg began to shake violently and rock, another gorgeous bronze quite nearly exploding out of the egg. Two bronze on the sand! What luck! His awe melted into a wince as the two began to hiss at one another. Reflexively, he backed up a few steps, knocking into a boy behind him. He offered a hasty whisper of apologies and turned his eyes back to the sand. It would be okay...they were nowhere near where he was standing right yet! But as memories of claws rending flesh snaked behind his eyes and his thigh began to twinge with phantom pain, he couldn't help but feel nervousness trickle coldly down his spine.
Easy boys...it's okay. The sands are big enough for the both of you...
But given a few moments, the tension dissolved as the dragonets dispersed. First, the European Adder finally made his move and after him, the reddish death Adder strutted to his bonded. He let out a long breath he'd been holding- a confrontation between two large dragonets could have been quite the hairy situation. He was glad to see the reddish Bronze Impress and ready to move off the sands...something about the tension in its body made Jaidev terribly nervous...even though he knew no dragon would harm a human.
Now that the sands were clear of wanderers, Jaidev turned his eyes to the rest of the clutch. Which egg would hatch next and what color would they yield?

"Hm..?" Notos looked at the boy sitting besides him, who moved to the front as quickly as possible. That wasn't needed, Notos thought mildly. It really wasn't, but if it calmed the boy, let bygones be bygones.
He turned his attention back to the bronzes, feeling a grin break out on his face. Unexpected, they had finally done it.
They had finally decided. At the same time, apparently, Notos observed as they each moved to their individual candidates. The European and Death adder was a beauty! The queen had laid some of the best bronzes that Notos had laid his eyes on. Notos grinned, glad to see that they had impressed. He hadn't been worried about the between part, but a hatching always put one in glad spirits.
"That's over with now." He commented to his roommates now, closing his eyes. A wave of tiredness washed over him, but he forced it back. The hatching wasn't over yet.

His heart stopped.
He swore it.
ConomorMine, step up to meet your Naedreth
He did. He stumbled, fell to his knees.
Those others were anxious to meet theirs, but Yours was patient -- Yours wanted to make the best choice.
He wrapped his arms about the bronze's neck and for a moment, just clung to the dragonet. It was indescribable. His heart and mind had opened, changed forever in ways he could not yet put his finger on.
Naedreth! I will be worthy of you, I swear that!... But for now, you must be starving! Come on, let's go. Somehow he stumbled to his feet, and blinked away tears he hadn't noticed forming in his eyes. Naedreath. His. His lifemate. The other half of him, his true heart and soul.
He would ponder on the deep philosophical implications of this later on: for now all he could think of was his dragon's hunger. Meat! Naedreth needed it, and soon!
I waited for you, I can wait for meat... but I would rather not wait too long. You are right C'morMine, I am hungry.
Still grinning like a madman, C'mor straightened up tall and proud like his new companion and strode off the sands. Today was the first day of the rest of their lives. Today was perfect.

Jessmet hissed nervously through the gap in her teeth when the second bronze made his entrance. Would they fight? That would horrendous. Either of the dragonets could get hurt, or a candidate. The little green had tripped up a girl already, who seemed unharmed.
Finally, finally, each bronze pushed toward their chosen weyrmate. The more coppery of the pair turned his attention to Okassis-- Okassis who had seemed so intent on the first male. Jessmet stifled an excited shout. Impression had been made! She would certainly need to congratulate Okassis (O'kas? O'sis?) after the Hatching. Without really meaning to, she wove her way through the crowd of candidates to be closer to the eggs.
