Well, Zensekai knew never to trust a red headed man for sure. Especially ones he didn't know.... but for some reason red headed mean had a tendoncy to be good at singing at the least....

He had magic that reminded him of something else, something he had seen few men do and none recently... not for a very long time at least.
But it was good news, if that could be done HERE.... maybe something similar to what he knew could be as well.... Good to know if a fight would come around.

"I don't like you." He declared openly to the stranger, in an immature way.

"Can you save him kitty lady?" He asked Cheeva.

Cheeva's eye glazed over. She snapped the shield strands in her hand as she bent over the pouches at her waist. She unclipped a pouch from her belt and withdrew a small pellet of compressed herbs. From another she drew a pinch of peppery leaves. The girl ground them together in one hand, filling the glade with the spicy scent of pepper and tansy. The pellet was of pfiffer rind and tansy, both poisonous in larger doses but, together with the pepperback pustules on the lea leaves, they would work to counteract the poisons. Poison to cure poison; it really was a beautiful art.
Cheeva shivered as she dragged up sparks and spat a gob of faintly purple spittle into her hands, mashing the vicious smelling mix together. The magic was needed to give the man a boost back to life. He was almost too far gone - more than one dart had hit home.
She turned, slowly, woozily, as if she wasn't in control of her own body, to the dying man. Ignoring the mess about his mouth, she pushed his lips apart and stuffed the putrid ball between his teeth, pinching the man's nose so he swallowed. Cheeva was no healer. It was Loki, her brother who had been the healer. She knew how to treat poisons, she knew how to jolt someone if they strayed too close to death. But she was definitely not a light touch. The man was going to be very ill for awhile, if at least coherent. And alive.
"It is done..." she said monotonously, head jerking slightly. "He will live..."

Angela did not like Cheeva but seeing her so obviously under someone else's control was a bit unnerving. "That's enough, Desoriaveriatus," Angela said. "Let her go."

Des flicked his eyes toward Angela, then back to the Cat, releasing her from his magic. "It isn't as if I hurt her," he said. "In fact, I believe I just saved someone's life."

"This is why I hate Celestials," Angela said, glaring at him. "Every one I've ever met is just an arrogant, cocky, b*****d."

"Strange of you to say considering you're what? A quarter at least?"

"Half," she corrected. "Not that it's something I've any reason to be proud of."

"Hmm....half. Well, I do believe I sense in you more than a fair share of that Celestial arrogance you so loathe." He glanced at Zen. "By the way. I don't think I particularly like you either. But you do have a great hair color, I must say."

Inutai watched curiously as another gray-haired man approached the camp and started talking about things he didn't really understand. Plus, he had a really long and weird name. Though, he's heard weirder. As he, along with everyone else, began to talk, Inutai only became more and more confused. He held his head, starting to develop a headache. He heard someone singing, that one gray-haired guy that had just arrived, though he wasn't sure for what reason. Then they started using words he didn't quite like understand. . . . Such as 'Celestial' or 'loathe' or 'color'. The boy just stayed silent and kept to himself, completely and utterly lost, so he hid behind Toshi.

The older one, on the other hand, had felt some sort of magic being used during Des' singing, though he couldn't figure out what kind or what it even did. Though, he did take a guess after he heard Cheeva speak monotonely. Listening to the man's footsteps, he could only find out his relative height and weight, which was odd. Usually he could tell more than that just by listening to someone's footsteps alone. He frowned slightly when Inutai hid behind him, but let him anyway.

"Comes with being a 'celestial'... I'm afraid....Thanks by the way, but flattery will get you no where. And yes, arrogance comes with the job..."

Zen realized his mistake after blurting out the comment fast, while butting between Angela and the stranger. He'd made an assumption about the word, and didn't know what might come of it. After pushing the two apart from their shoulders, Zen began to try to nudge the messenger.

"You, wake up!"

Gyp frowned and shook his head as Zen began shaking the messenger, deciding to let the others handle it (and sensing an upcoming petty argument). He hadn't felt the need to intervene while Cheeva was being hypnotized, especially considering the end result; he didn't like life being wasted, at all, so it was actually for a good purpose. Not that he'd trust this Des guy anytime soon.

...He had the odd feeling he was forgetting something though.

The lighter Fluff hummed curiously as it alighted on this new redhead's shoulder. He reminded It so much of someone, though It couldn't put a feather on who... It purred thoughtfully and brushed its tail against his neck.

As the last echoes of the man's, this Desoriaveriatus', strumming faded, Cheeva blinked. She rocked back and forth for a moment, her body still not fully under her control.
As she rocked forward, Zen shoved Desoriaveriatus away from Angela...right into Cheeva.
For a moment she sat, leaning forward slightly, almost nose to nose with the newcomer. She could feel the heat of his breath on her face. She blinked dreamily.
And then, with a snap, her wits came back to her. With instinct that was pure feline, Cheeva hissed in his face and scrambled back, hardly notcing she'd nearly stumbled into the fire. Heart pounding, she stared at Desoriaveriatus, horrified. He'd taken control of her, s completely...so easily.
"Y-you...YOU ENSORCELLED ME!" she screeched. Before anyne could move she had tugged down her cap.
The cat, a ball of spitting, hissing fur, fled the glade, shooting up the nearest, tallest tree.

Des chuckled slightly as Cheeva appeared to nearly kiss him and then suddenly hissed and ran up the tree. He wondered if he could coax her back down with a ball of string. He stroked the adorable fluff that had taken up residence on his shoulder and glanced at Zen, who was prodding the messenger. "You, sir," he pointed out, "are no Celestial. That much is certain."

"I have to agree, Zen," Angela said, glaring at Des. "You're no where near annoying enough to be a Celestial." She stalked away from the others and flopped down beside Toshi and Inutai, drawing up her knees and burying her head in her arms. At least, unlike the four previous Celestials she'd met, Des wasn't trying to kill her. "Poor Cheeva," she muttered. The cat had it coming but still. That must have been bloody awful. She chewed her bottom lip.

The messenger groaned softly and opened his eyes. "Mrrmghhllllg," he managed to say, looking at Zen with confusion. "Urrrrgh...." he rolled over and vomited beside the fire.

Zen moved away, hoping the guy would feel good enough to give a long story. He let him recover while looking at Angela and Des.

"Our definitions of the term are different." He said over his shoulder, then flashed his eyes with their intense white glow for a moment, before turning it off again and talking with a purr in his speech, as if he had four versions of his own voice to use at once.
"Or so it would seem, wouldn't it?"

He turned the purr overlap off too, along with the stern look he gave Des. A smile lit up fast, as if nothing had changed and all was normal.
"He's coming to I think.... but oh dear, the poor cat lady... you better watch you try to brainwash from now on."

Zen got up to try to go find Cheeva.

Des laughed at Zen's little show. "Yes, yes, and I can turn into a three foot ball of fire." He laughed again. "I've changed my mind. I like you after all, Zen."

Angela was a little surprised to discover Zen had some abilities after all but she wasn't surprised by the nature of them. She'd seen as weird or weirder during her travels. His voice was a little eerie but it struck a chord in her as well as if it was somehow familiar. He'd call himself a Celestial. She wonder what he'd meant by that and made a mental note to ask him about it later. He was definitely more than he seemed.

She shook her head. "Zen, leave Cheeva alone for now," she said. She'd already had to completely block out the other woman's emotions. They were in such turmoil that even from this distance it was giving her a headache. "I really think she just wants to be left alone for the time being. She's strong so she'll be alright. Des may not be when she recovers though," Angela added with a smirk.

**

The messenger groaned again and clutched his stomach.

Inutai quickly regretted sneaking a peak from behind Toshi. Not only did he witness Cheeve race up the nearest tree in a scared fit, he saw that Zen's eyes had glowed and his voice had a weird purr to it. He'd missed Angela coming over to sit with them. He was too busy staring at the two gray-haired men with wide eyes, shaking all over. After he heard the newcomer say something about a ball of fire, he just couldn't take it anymore. He curled up into the tightest ball possible and starting to cry, muttering things about wanting to leave.

Hearing this, Toshi frowned back at Inutai, then glanced over at Zen's and Des' direction. He thought about yelling at them, but he figured that'd only make matters worse. Instead, he shot a glare in their direction and turned around to face his companion. He rubbed his back comfortingly, the best he could. "Inutai?" he asked worriedly, but he got no response.

"Hmm, I still can't stay the same." Zen lied, he was bad at it. And as for the comment on fire, he subtlely went to debunk that by walking through the campfire on his way over to stand by Gyp. The fire stirred a bit from air under his coat, but other than that nothing happened.
It was mostly to give distance to poor Inutai. Whom he'd inevitably scare more as time went on. No amount of charm or witty comments could hide the darker part of him from the innocent.

"What do you think about this whole situation?" He asked Gyp, being vague on purpose. All he wanted was a good conversation.

"What do you think about this whole situation?"

Gyp blinked in surprise of being addressed.

"Well, I think you're all insane--you seem a little less so, take it as a compliment, I guess--so I must be insane... And I'm slightly worried that Nim or Sin will spontaneously catch fire. Having 4 years of experience with someone daily catching fire, you'd think you'd get used to it." He shook his head.

"Not important, though," Gypsum added with a tired laugh. He threw a glance at the other redhead in the camp and The Fluff on the man's shoulder.

"I'm more worried as to who the hell he is."

The Fluff whistled and twittered a soft tune in response to the attention as it lapsed into a state of blankness from the petting.

||Note to remember... razz
nimue-sin: btw, also about the fluffs; they go into a state of not remembering who they are sometimes, kind of. i need to find better wording
PuzzlePie: amnesia?
nimue-sin: i guess its, theyre not so much nim or sin as much as two bird-things that like o sing.
PuzzlePie: so, the mind of the fluff/bird absorbs the human intellect?
nimue-sin: yes. that is a veeery good way of putting it.

The cat's claws griped the rough bar and it shot up the tree, dodging whippy branches and the swinging remains of one of the dart launchers.
It didn't stop until it was wedged into the fork of a branch, well out of the range of the newcomer's magic...hopefully
A shaky paw pushed back the skin of its forehead, leaving Cheeva sitting, shakily, huddled in the flimsy branches.
She rubbed her arms. No one had taken control of her since Aponae, and that had been no picnic. Cheeva wrung her hands. This had been worse. Aponae had set up block in her mind to stop her sister, Chibche, raiding Cheeva's memories. The moment Desoriaveriatus had dropped their link, Aponae's wards had sprung up. It had felt like she was drowning in her own mind, like water had flooded in through her mouth and nose, suffocating ********.." she muttered to herself, still wringing her hands. Cheeva chewed her lip until blood dribbled down her chin. A black rage passed over her. How DARE he. She'd kill him. He'd be dead before he could blink. No, no, that was too good. Make it painful. Painful, and burning. Make him vomit up his own organs.
Cheeva ripped a dart from a pouch at her hip. Stretching out along the branch, she sighted Desoriaveriatus below. She slipped her dart-pipe out of her sleeve and loaded it. She took aim.
Flit!
Loaded again and aimed.
Flit!
Again.
Flit!
Again!Flit!Again!Flit!

Panting, Cheeva tucked the pipe away and curled up in the branches.

Angela felt a sharp stab of pain as Inutai's fear peaked. She cringed, regretting coming to sit so close to him but as he started crying, she glanced up, worried.

Clenching her teeth, she moved a bit closer. "Inutai," she asked in a soft, gentle voice, "are you okay?" She glanced at Toshi. "Is there something I can do to help?"

**

Des sense the movement of the projectiles headed for him before they reached him. He wasn't sure what they were but he was worried that if he dodged, they would hit someone else. Unfortunately, the dog-boy seemed quite frightened by recent events and Des figured abruptly bursting into a ball of fire might frighten him further. So he made a split second choice and stood still, letting the darts hit home. He winced slightly as the five darts hit very nearly the same spot across his left shoulder and chest.

He glanced down, feeling a slight tingle as poison entered his blood stream and was quickly nullified. She must be quite angry with him. He sighed and pulled the darts out, tossing them into the trees.

He would let it slide for now. Clearly the group had been through a lot and they were all a bit edgy. Perhaps that was to blame for her behavior.

He flopped beside the fire and stretched his legs out, peering into the flames. The little fluff on his shoulder was whistling softly as he stroked it. It really was a cute little thing.

**

Enrion, emissary of the Grey Twelve, groaned again. He was pretty sure he was dying. Or if he wasn't, he rather wished he was. His mouth had an acid taste and his entire body felt like it was on fire though the feeling was fading a bit.

He opened his eyes and blinked up at the night sky. "Urrrrrrrrgh..." he said. "Water...?"
