Lin thought about for a moment or two, "Well to see what the city is like."

That was probably the first thought of on her mind, she had been only to one elven city, and from what she can tell so far, despite the fact they were both deserts (at least at the moment for the South), they were very different places.

Estel nodded. "I thought as much," he grinned. "You're the adventurous type. Unfortunately, I have to stay here ... perhaps Amora could go with you? Along with a guard of course, only because Amora is still too young to go alone, and you don't know your way around."

Amora appeared excited at the proposal. "I can show you the best places!" she exclaimed, turning to Lin. "Please say yes!"

Lin smiled at that, "I would be happy to have Amora go with me."

She could tell that they were going to have fun, and looked forward to it.

Estel nodded, smiling warmly. "And Pengolodh," he added, "it's time for you to do your studies. Come. Amora, take Sir Gilead with you. Be back in time for dinner."

"I will, Father," Amora promised, rising from her seat. "Come on, Lin, I need to get my cloak from my room - and I have one for you, if you don't have one."

It had never occurred to Lin to bring a cloak, "Okay, I hadn't thought of bringing one... or rather I don't have one."

She had coats and hadn't been fitted for a cloak since she was little, and rarely ever wore it.

Amora nodded. "It's all right, I'll have one to fit you," she assured her. She paused, then added, "And ... you may wish to wear some cooler clothes. Do you have any spidersilk clothes?"

She motioned for Lin to follow her, and headed out of the dining hall and down the corridor.

Lin looked down at herself, and couldn't help but think why on earth she would ever own spidersilk, but Amora she figured didn't know that Lin lived in a place where summer wasn't exactly as hot as here.

Not that it wouldn't have been much cooler to wear spidersilk at home too, but it was expensive and reserved only for formal wear. Unless Helen could figure out how to produce it on the grounds. She wouldn't put it past him, Helen loved the stuff.

"One kimono," Lin replied tentatively, "But that's not everyday wear."

Amora pursed her lips thoughtfully and moved quickly down the corridor. "If you like," she offered, "I can lend you some clothes as well. Here in the castle it's not too bad, the stone reflects most of the heat away, but once we're out in the sun ... well, it can be oppressive at times. Especially for those with black hair."

She nodded at Lin's hair. Black just absorbed the sun, made it even hotter - she would need something cooler.

Lin wondered why she hadn't thought about that before, and her normal daily wear didn't help much. Normally she was good with most types of heat but it was obvious the Eastland was like nothing she was use to.

"I guess I should, I tend not to wear light coloured clothes and spidersilk is only used for formal clothes back home."

Amora smiled brightly. "Don't worry about it," she beamed. "In the winter it's not so bad, but it's summer now and that's the hottest time ever."

She led Lin up a flight of stairs and down another corridor. "Is there any place in particular you want to see when we get there?" she asked eagerly.

"Not really, I just want to know what it is like here," Lin replied following Amora.

She paused for a moment to think about it.

"What is winter like here?"

Amora didn't even pause to think about it.

"It's my favourite season," she giggled. "It's cool enough to go out without having to worry too much about what you wear ... it's possible to train outside ... I remember, the first time I tried to train outside in the summer, I fainted. And I've grown up with this heat!"

She led Lin down a hall. "This way, we're almost there," she nodded.

Lin grinned, "Wow.... winter at home is different, I'm not fond of it because of the snow, but that's because I don't like shoes for the most part."

But she had to wear them, she tended to get away with slippers but in winter boots were a must.

Amora nodded thoughtfully as she led Lin to a door with a guard standing beside it.

"I've heard of snow," she murmured, "but I've never seen it ... or rain ... perhaps someday. I'd like out find out how it all works someday. I mean, I know ... in general, but I'd like to see it for myself. I've never even seen a cloud, if that says anything."

She led Lin into her room and motioned for her to close the door behind her. "But I guess you have all of that where you live ... Mother says that even in the Southland desert, they get clouds and rain sometimes."
