Silent Sympathy Divine_Malevolence -x- CocoNoire -x- Divine_Malevolence And we've agreed that such things will not be tolerated. Is this your only concern, or is there something else? Nope. I just don't wanna see repeats of Cleo's thread. That to me counts as ranting about a person, even if they don't have a Gaia account. Okay. Then it's settled. Now, if there are no other objections, perhaps we could begin to form the rules and guidelines that it would need? Okay, so beacause one person get offended I can't rant about my mother? Brother? Father? Or anyone else I may know in rl? People are offended too easily. How about some really big things aren't allowed at all, and other things should be pointed out beforehand? Like, above in bold 29 font, you have to say what you're ranting about, so that people who would be offended by it could just skip over it?

Kurosakuranbo-chan Another guild of mine has a rant thread and it works wonders. <3 You just have to know what kind of rules you need to set to the thread. For that rant thread, you're only allowed to post a rant, and cannot under any circumstances post anything else in that thread besides a rant. If any user does, they get one warning. Next offense, they were banned. If the user wants advice, they're supposed to put "want advice" at the end and the conversation will take place in PMs. If they don't want advice, they simply put "don't want advice". Anyway, that's what the rules were like for that thread. If we do make one, it'd be wise to do something similar so things don't get out of hand. Have there been any major complaints about it?

We're a pretty tight-knit family over there, though. Everyone knows everyone and we get along great. No one complains about the rant thread at all. In fact, it's really helped. It's 21 pages long and it was made not too long ago. It's a really great way to vent. I've posted in it a couple of times, and the thread has regulars. -nods-

If it works, then happy times ensue. If it doesn't, then lock and recycle it.

Hmmm... I have an idea (you don't have to follow it, but i'm just throwing it out here)
ALRIGHT, so, if we make a debate subforum/rant subforum, then cleo should put up an announcement that everyone MUST READ before posting. When someone makes a new topic, they have to contain something in that announcement, which verifies that they have read the announcement (got from another thread), and a link to the "Life Issues" rules. In addition, the title of each thread should contain the issue that they're talking about. People should talk about other things like, "Him, her, that organization, etc." If someone flames, then a someone should warn that person, and tell them to delete the post (don't quote it). Give a good reason WHY, (usually it'll be cuz of cursing, but some may be very offensive) If someone makes a THREAD about something, and it's insulting, a guild mod should tell the OP to change the post, and then it should be fine (if it's too insulting, lock it and delete it) If someone breaks the rules, they should get a strike. 3 strikes you're out. Strikes should be reset every month A sticky should have people with strikes If someone doesn't like a topic, then they should say "i don't like this" and why. If they can get a sufficient amount of people to say "i don't like this", the thread should get removed. You must provide explanation.
Well, that's just my idea, no clue what would happen Should be added upon with better ideas

It's too worrisome like that. Anyways, I suggest that if the person is posting something someone might find offensive, then they should put above the text, in regular font, "This might offend ____." Then put the rest of the rant in white.

I hate to suggest sticky-ing it, so have a dedicated person bump it up when it falls off the front page?

You could always make a sticky to keep links to threads that you want to sticky, but can't. Like this rant thread, or the manga thread, or any other thread you can think of.
