This is no white cross, it seems we're out of class...Artesia thoughtfully savored the last taste of her burger, mulling over the idea of dessert. Apple pie did sound rather good, especially after a meal that screamed Americana. She knew that William would wait if she decided to indulge her sweet tooth. When he started talking about preparations for the new moon with Marco, though, she made up her mind. They were going now. She knew that the subject was important, that if they weren't prepared, they could all be dead before the next Saturday. However, this was a night that she wanted to enjoy. For the past few weeks, their power had dwindled as that of the vampires had grown. However, it didn't really matter. No one thought about it too much. However, since the last quarter, it seemed to be the only topic of conversation. And tonight, she just wanted some time to be alone with her husband, without thoughts of an attack taking away the feeling of the night. She could see the apprehension building up in the rest of the pack, with the furtive glances and the concerned whispers. Most of all, she didn't want to hear a word about the new moon from William for the rest of the night. But since she realized it would be unfair to ask for that, she only asked for an hour. So when he inquired as to her plans, she looked back at him with a sweet smile and said, "We're going." Besides, he'd just signed himself up to make her chocolate fondue. Her mouth watered as she thought of her liquidated treat, and the weight of the previous conversation lifted from her mind for the moment. She would be much more amenable to talking about preparations in the morning. We all are fragile, like statues made of sand...

Kassandra gave it not a second thought as she followed after Alastar. Not only was she the slight bit angry he hadn't said hello, which was silly considering he probably didn't want to waste his time talking to her, but she was also curious as to where he was going. He was probably just going to feed or something else uninteresting, but it didn't matter. Her second option was to go find the Master and Mistress, and that was something she did not look forward to. Third was, of course, to just pass by the Peppermint Cafe by herself, but that idea didn't click with her either.
Besides, she was planning to meet up with the others anyway, so what was the point in passing by the Cafe? Yes, she had decided. She'd meet up with Alaster and hopefully he would allow her to tag along with him. Anything he did would be better then walking around the city alone, right? Nodding in conformation at her decision she decided to up her speed a bit but then stopped abruptly. Her nose crinkled in disgust when the scent reached her. Alastar was talking to one of them.
It took merely seconds for her to back up a very large amount of steps. She had no doubt it would be bad if they found out she was there. Alastar wasn't just talking to anyone after all, it was the packs' Beta. Kassandra knew how Alastar felt about the Beta. He was the second in command, just like the General, and that gave a sort of 'back off, he's mine to deal with', aura around Alastar. She wasn't stupid enough to get in between them. Letting out a sigh Kassandra one again turned around.
What was she going to do now? It seemed like her second option was the only one left. The third was pretty much declined in her head already. A small feeling of dread came to her. It was not that she had a problem with hanging out with the other two, it was just her feelings. Could she trust herself to be around him? Well, she had in the past, so she would have to now. They could of course not allow her to hang out with them, and maybe that was a good idea, but she really did not want to spend the night alone.
No sooner had she made her decision did Kassandra catch the scent. It then only took moments for him to be in sight. Taking a deep breath Kassandra slowed her pace and when she reached him she managed a smile. "Rourke, " Kassandra greeted, nodding to him respectfully. She probably only had a few second before Alette would appear. Seconds were enough though, at least for now.

Cailee quickly gave up her shocked and stupified reactions to the bizarre things that Devin did, realizing an all too frequent pattern with the strange boy. The only thing she was surprised about at the moment, was the fact that he wasn't her equal. How could such a clumsy, and seemingly mental person be so insinct with his magic? It took her a million tries to even get her sand trick right, and that was only because of the Merlin helping her; but this boy could pull a trick like he did with ease, and it made her mind squeal in frustration. How she longed to complete a spell as easy as that, it made her feel inferior, which was almost insulting as she scanned the delusional boy.
Cailee quickly took a small chunk of the chocolate bar, letting it melt in her mouth before swallowing the gooey liquid. The good thing about being in the Merlin's presence, was the fact that he always had some form of chocolate on him somewhere. She wondered if all of the sugar was the reason why he could do so much in a matter of hours. Cailee figured that a sugar rush was the sweetest way to get a quick boost of energy; her favorite way, too.
With soft, slow steps, Cailee found herself shuffling closer to her new 'mentor', Melanie, eeventually ending up standing beside her. Cailee neither looked up to the girl nor said anything to her. A content smile on her small pink lips as her eyelids shuttered over her big, purple eyes a few times. To anyone looking, she probably seemed like an overly-ready student waiting to take on a new task, but to those who saw through it, well, let's say it was moreso the opposite. Sure she wanted to further her magical abilities, but even she had to face the facts. She loved to cause mischief.

"You should try it every once in a while," Alastar said languidly with a grand gesture of his hand. "I don't think that the world would cease spinning on its axis if you had a laugh or two, although perhaps Hell would freeze over. I'm not sure what it is you don't like about my attire." He fluttered his eyelashes, obviously teasing the Beta despite his better judgment. "The ladies and gentlemen do like a well-dressed bloke. For that and them I do go out alone. Rourke isn't much for enjoying the flesh, but if you'd like a pointer or two I'd be happy to help dress you and take you along." He gave a good-humored, wide grin. With such a bright, charismatic smile it would have been nigh impossible to imagine the fierce look he could take on when determined or threatened had Marco not seen it already.
Alastar shoved his hands in his pockets, demeanor shifting slightly. He didn't think his words would provoke the werewolf, instead choosing to have some faith the other could take jibes on his personal life without interpreting it as a threat. A verbal retaliation was almost expected and the vampire would not deny nor grow upset at much he could say. For all his playful banter, he was quite aware of his faults and routinely was called a "manwhore" despite his emotional investments in his many partners.
"Do you like the fighting?" Now he was purposefully vague, letting the other answer as he wished. He could take it to mean the melee itself, the conflict in a more broad sense, or he could take it as a question posed to how he felt about the two species. Any answer, as long as it was an answer, would appease the elder.

" I prefer my clothing the way I always do, neat and simple," he said, never taking his dark eyes off the vampire. He knew Alastar well enough to know that he could change quickly in a matter of seconds, thus the reason for Marco to alway stay on high alert, especially since he was alone. One could never be to careful around the enemy, Marco learned that the hard way. Slowly starting to pace from side to side to calm him down a little bit, Marco still kept his face locked on Alastar to watch for any sudden movements that might be threatening. Over many confrontation in the past Marco has come to realize that Alastar was sort of his opposite in a sence of attitude. Alastar was flashy, full of life and energy, where as Marco was distant, dull and almost lifeless when around others. Yet when the fought against each other he couldn't help by see a connection between them, like they were pouring out their soul during the fight. Maybe that why Marco has never seen fit to kill Alastar when the opportunity presanted itself.
Does he like the fighting? What kind of question was that to come up so randomly at a time like this? Sure, Marco felt that he had to fight in order to save the species from being annihilated but he would be lying if he said he knew what started the war in the first place. The fight has waged on forever, very few remember what the war was about let along who started it. So he guessed he was about half and half at this point." Fighting is fighting, its how one solves their problem when talking it out doesn't work anymore. You can't say I like the fighting but I can't say that I don't like the fighting. I feel a sense of duty when I fight," he explained, stopping in the midst of his pacing to take a serious look at Alastar." I don't know," he said shrugging his shoulders." How about you? What compels you to fight in this war. Pure enjoyment or a certain cause your trying to gain?" he asked.

"Why do I fight?" Alastar echoed, leaning against one of the buildings that encased the small alley. His eyes drifted off the werewolf and into the sky, their glittering depths appearing to look for celestial guidance. Perhaps it was strange to ask a question for which you have no answer yourself, but he hadn't really considered why he did it. He wished to know why others did, to solve that mystery. It had not occurred to him it might be even more baffling why he did so himself. He let out a sigh, watching his breath dissipate into the cool night air.
"Because it's what's needed, it's what expected." It would be a lie to say that he derived some sort of pleasure out of it. Since 'Juliet' had died so many years ago, he had grasped for things to make his life brighter. He had no real complaints, but it seemed less full and lively as it had while she had been alive, and fighting had lost some of its luster with her silent disapproval. No words had been spoken about it, for she understood far too well why he felt compelled to continue. At the same time, they had remained different species until her end and it made him wonder for fleeting moments if the werewolves were so different from humans, those who he chose to be so intimate with it was almost certainly dangerous to some extent.
"If you had the choice, though, to be unexpected, would you? Would you chance something to be able to stop fighting? Could you give up the mantle of the warrior and walk another path and be content? Is it possible?" His solemn face broke out into a wide grin as he remembered with whom he was speaking. Being so serious and drawn was not like the person he had built himself up to be: he was the charmer, the life of the party, the bright beacon that was never tied down by some ill-conceived sense of fate. Shrugging his shoulders, he looked at Marco. "You don't have to answer that."

"Then why must we talk about this fighting since both our minds seem set on carring out orders giving to us? Should we fight right now and throw each other lives away for a cause that neither us know? Or should we shake hands then part on our seperate ways? The only reason we don't leave is the fact that fighting is all we have left to do, thats truly it. Two warriors standing in front of each other, conscious of each others beliefs, wasting their time talking about a question that they've both answered when they entered this war. What a waste of time," he said, surprisingly remaining calm as he spoke. They've both seemed to have the same reason for fighting so what esle was left of them to do? Marco answered was known and he wasn't about to falter from the decision he made when he bared arms against the vampire kind.
He may not need to answer the question but he felt obligated to, taking a few seconds to think of an answer. Would he changed something to be able to stop fighting? This question was one that never crossed his mind before, nor made much sense when he thought about it." The world is full of possibilities Alastar, and our extended life span gives us a chance to find many of those possibilities. We are of average age amongst our kind, no? We certainly have more time to change something in this war that could end it, right? However, I cannot predict that future so I haven't a clue what changes could be made in order stop this fighting. Perhaps we could make it worse then it already is or perhaps not," he said shrugging his wide shoulders," who knows?" he asked, sighing a little. He took a couple seconds to blink since he had a wide stare the entire time he spoke with Alastar, always watching his move." Why do you ask such a deep question? Thats unusual for you," he said, raising his eyebrow a little.

William swallowed down the last gulp of his drink, washing down the remnant thoughts of preparations. He'd have time to speak about it with Marco and the others later; but, for now, he didn't want to make them worry. He could already feel a thickness in the air as the conversation took place, even though everyone knew how serious things would become as the nights progressed. Even with the slightest glance at Artesia, he could tell the topic wasn't something she wanted to discuss at the moment. He told himself that the conversation was not to be discussed while he was alone with her, even though he knew that happening tonight was a long shot in the first place.
William nodded and smiled as Marco got up and left the cafe, knowing that he would be fine as he did his usual thing. William almost thought of the Beta's routine as a sort of disappearing act; whenever there was a situation he didn't want to be in, he'd run off into the forest or the city, most of the time without even a goodbye. Sure, William always wondered where his friend went, but never did he question him.
As he waited for an answer from Artesia, he watched her behind gray eyes. Then seeing her smile, he returned the favor with white teeth surrounded by a furry chin. William's entire look was almost muted by the fact that his mess of dark brown hair was pulled back into a pony tail instead of hanging down to his shoulders. The words that passed from her lips was all he needed to hear to make his heart jump in his chest as it did when he had first fallen in love with her, and he took his wallet out of a pocket in his shorts. Laying out fifty dollars on the table, he looked to Tasha, "Please tell Alyssa I said goodbye," he winked to the green-haired girl before taking Artesia's hand and heading for the door, leaving behind a hearty tip for Alyssa to make up for leaving in such a hurry.

"Hmmmm, we do have extended life spans. I hope you'll forgive me for saying mine more considerable than yours; however, on the account of middle age I think you might be wrong." He gave a coy, playful grin that was probably fair too cheeky for Marco's tastes. "Although I fancy myself like a wine or cheese and growing better with age, of course, in all sorts of ways." He wiggled his brows here suggestively before laughing lightly. It was hard to imagine that the serious werewolf would indulge in any romance or pleasures of the flesh, much less a homosexual one. "No no, I digress. What I mean to say is, although a lady should never reveal her age, I've past nine centuries. While I can't say I go out of my way to meet other of my kind on the world wide web or anything of the sort, I think I might be quite old."
There was no real danger in revealing his age. He didn't expect that the lycans kept journals to document different blood-suckers and how long they had stuck around- and even if there was such a chronicle, it spanned different continents. No, there was no way to tell looking at Alastar or through any script of which he was aware that he was so ancient. Had his powers and abilities dwindled with the years, he might be hesitant to reveal the length of his lifespan- but as it was not a strength and not a weakness, he had graced Marco with that tidbit of information.
Alastar wasn't looking for any sort of respect, fear, or special treatment because of how old he was. Instead, he assumed, it was because somehow he sought some understanding. He loved his brother, but for reasons that could not be stated, he avoided talking about the ages that had passed since they became creatures of the night. With Rourke he found it better to focus on the present and the future.
Shrugging his shoulders with a wistful sigh, he continued. "Who knows? Maybe the time I have left is equal to yours. Do we have finite lives like your kind? I certainly don't know. In any case, it makes my withered heart and decrepit mind spin dangerous feelings and notions. Mmmm, I feel like a youth again in a way. Are you satisfied with things as they are? I have many things to do besides fighting, my dear Beta. Women to woo, men to please. I just wondered what you would do if something recklass happened, if there was a chance to stop the fighting. Nothing more."
His eyes sparkled, the elder creature alive with a wild, second wind that had been breathed into him. He still was the man he was many centuries ago physically, but Alastar felt a certain urgency to act stirring inside him. He didn't know what or how, but this inspiration was certainly going to manifest one way or another... hopefully it would in bed as well.

Philipe shared the same smile with all four of his guests, glad that even if they were nervous they partook in a bit of his chocolate. It made him feel a bit less formal, which he liked. There was no time to waste, however, no matter how much he would like to sit around and eat chocolate. Mm . . . Chocolate. He shook his shaggy white mane, nodding to each in turn as he spoke. "Well young ones, I am sure you have plenty to do right now, and little Cailee here looks eager to begin her training. Quite eager." The telltale twinkle in his crystalline spheres told that he knew all too well that he knew more than he let on. He could spot a mischief-maker a mile off on a foggy day with a blindfold on. Hopping on one foot, at that. Philipe chuckled at the conjured image of himself, perhaps to all of the others laughing at nothing at all, and in that respect possibly acting as odd as Devin.
"I, for one, have a few matters of Merlin-y business to take care of. You all know where to find me should I be needed. Yes? Yes. And here you are, Devin," he remarked last, handing the remaining half of the bar to the other. "Share with others, now, like your Grandpa always tells you." Playing along was fun sometimes, even if it did confuse the others. Only he knew that the apparent young lad still clinging to him was, in fact, a young lass instead. However, he would not be the one to reveal it. That was a secret for only Devin and himself at the moment.
"Until we meet again, friends." Tapping his walking cane once, the Merlin turned on the ball of his foot and hobbled away and around the corner, somehow untangling himself from the surreptitious girl in the process without any apparent effort. Any person meandering around the said corner would find nothing but an empty street, even if Philipe had only just turned it. Strange things seemed to happen around the man.
Sighing tiredly and leaning his cane against a lacquered table ornately carved with mystical creatures, the Merlin walked - and this time actually walking normally even without his tool - to a reading chair and collapsed into it, swinging his legs over the arm as he let the illusion fade. Short-cut black hair replaced the wispy white, skin tightening and tanning as his face relaxed and formed into a younger man's, somewhere in his early thirties or late twenties. He flexed his hands a few times, looking around his study as if searching for something. Finding it - of course sitting two feet away from his chair - he seized the letter and began pouring over the document. Another long sigh escaped the real Merlin's lips, a few whispered words accompanying it. "My my . . . ." the strong, youthful voice said, "You silly wolves and you wily undead are at it again, eh?"

"Your playboy antics are foolish not to mention disgusting, Alastar. I some time find it hard to believe that you take anything serious in your life, even the fighting. Always goofing around with different sexies for pleasure or pain. Sometimes I question myself for not killing you when I had the chance," he said, almost threatening the vampire that stood in front of him. The fact that he hadn't charged at Alastar from the first meeting was surprising to him, making the stubborn wolf angry at this. A vampire had no right to live and he was allowing one to carry out idle chitchat with him like they were friends. He supposed that their was, unfortunately, a small connection between the two of them that made his instincts cancel each other out. "I'm sick with myself for not taking you down now, here in the cover of darkness away from the humans. It would be so easy too," he said, now making a threat towards Alastar. His will to attack was strong now and he was forcing himself to attack when Alastar would least expect it. Hopefully a will timed attack would put him down for good but even he doubted that happening. Foolish Alastar may be to Marco, he knew that he was deadly when it came to fighting.
"The fighting will never cease, surely you can see that with our own two eyes. Even if something were to happen to chance the outcome of things, the fighting would always continue. I suppose you can call it our duty to keep fighting. Two creatures with different opinion about life can't live peacefully together, at least thats what I've come to understand," he said, starting to pace back and forth again. He couldn't keep still now as his body was preparing for a strike, anxious to see if Alastar would defend himself if he truly did strike." If I die a fighter then so be it but I do defending the younger generation hopes to live free in this world without fearing death. Thats enough for me to carry out my duties, even if many think this is a sensless battle," he said as he came to a halt back in the same place he stood during their conversation.

As she passed people on the street, Alette listened in on their conversations. She didn't have much choice. Without trying, she could eavesdrop on someone in one of the buildings. As a matter-of-fact, there was an older sounding couple that was engaged in an argument on the third floor of a brick apartment building. It sounded like he'd been cheating. Or at least accused of it.
Sometimes, being capable of hearing so much that you weren't listening for felt almost like reading minds. There were so many voices in the city, there was just so little peace. It wasn't so bad in the park late at night, with so few people around, but there were always some. And Alette and her husband weren't always the only predators around. She and Rourke hunted to survive, but those men - those humans - hunted for pleasure. That made her sick. When she had the opportunity, those were the ones she took down. A murder was still a murder, but at least those girls, the targets, would get to live.
From not far behind her, Alette heard Rourke whispering to the passer-byes as he ran. It could be unclear, sometimes, how he and his brother Alastar were related. Other times, it was plain as the day they couldn't walk in. Alette chuckled, amused, which sent a young couple searching for the source of the fleeting sound. Such things really shouldn't amused her, but she had been around the brothers for far too long to remain one hundred percent moral.
It took only a moment for Rourke to catch up to her, after just taunting Alastar one more time. He circled her once before moving to lean up against an aged apartment building, his arms crossed over his chest and waited for her. It was strange, seeing him standing there. He and that building were in such contrast it wasn't even funny. It was old and crumbling, and he was inhumanly handsome. It always did amaze her how lucky she was to have him.
Alette skipped to a stop in front of him, her expression empathetic. She had caught Alastar's suddenly erratic path, too, and the accompanying scent of wolf. Of course Rourke would worry. She did, too. But Alastar clearly didn't want them to become involved, and unless something serious happened - like the involvement of other Werewolves, for example - they would stay out of it.
"Oh, I simply didn't want to get too far ahead of you, dear. It'd be rude of me to leave you so far behind. And besides. Do you really want to put a cane in these hands?" She held up both of her hands, palm up, before taking his with her right. Her left hand dropped back to her side. "Dangerous, don't you think? It would break if I were to hit you or our General over the head with it, but someone else..." Her voice trailed off with a false deviousness before she moved to lean against the wall beside him. She felt dwarfed standing there beside him. "Well, you never can tell with us princess-cavewomen types. Not at all to be trusted."
Alette fell silent listening to the heartbeats and murmured chatter of the passing crowds. Humans were so blissfully clueless it was almost painful. How could they go about their lives so calmly when two creatures that could easily snatch that same life away from them were just mere feet away? Didn't they feel any unease at all? Had society really gotten to the point where instinct couldn't protect the human race anymore? Not that it had done much good in the first place. Vampires were far too swift to be outrun, but at least humans had once been at least somewhat aware of the danger. They hadn't always been so unknowing. Alette, her husband, and their Family may as well not exist in their eyes. They were practically reduced to storybook characters, filed under the horror category in bookstores.
She pursed her lips and glanced quickly up at the sky. The moon was all but gone. Their night was closing in, and something would have to be done. This fighting couldn't continue. The city couldn't remain divided. This war had gone on far too long. But that's the funny thing with wars. They're easy to start. The hard part is ending them.
Alette had caught the scent of another Vampire once they neared and she quickly recognised it as Kassandra's. Since the girl had only greeted her husband, and since Alette was on Rourke's other side, she had a feeling that she had gone unnoticed. To make herself known, she leaned forward slightly and smiled politely over at the girl. "Good evening, Kassandra." Still smiling, and more amused than anything, she leaned back against the wall once more.

"Eh? Could you?" Alastar looked behind him and all around him with a comical exaggeration. After he was satisfied he had peered around him in every possible direction and inspected every possible space, he shrugged his shoulders. "Unless I am mistaken, the moon is waning, not waxing. My strength grows, my friend, and therefore the scales are tipped in my favor and not yours. If you feel so inclined I won't stop you, but I hardly find it fair to use violence to punish me for my lifestyle. I can say with certainty that there have been werewolves with my same temperment in the past."
"I suppose it is true in the nearly millenia I have lived that I have not seen the fighting cease... but... we were once human. I've watched them go from warring nations that were convinced that the other was evil and misaligned to firm allies of peace. The Crusades, I remember the Crusades. The Chrisitians wielded swords and wanted to slay heathens, convinced they were unable to look together. Today many reach with open arms, manning charities to people regardless of faith. I do not think that we are so different from what we once were. Maybe at the present we are incapable... we are at the beginning of the fairy tale and need to accelerate towards our climax to see change. Do you understand? I am going to rush towards that climax. I want to see what sort of fairy tale this is." His eyes gleamed with deep thoughts, the provocative ideals extending deep into his psyche. Despite his carefree, often flamboyant attitude, Alastar was a thinker. No simple soldier could be the General; no mindless martyr.
"Who knows, maybe you'll be Prince Charming at the end of the fairytale. I do hope there's a princess for you. I already found mine a long time ago," he remarked, flashing Marco a toothy smile. Werewolves might take it as a sign of aggression, but it was an honest and bright one. It was hard to portray feelings with the lips pressed together. His penetrating gaze met the Beta's briefly, a touch of sadness hidden behind the crimson-tinted mahogany.
"I'll go now, then. Try not to lunge for my back?"

Melanie would like to think that she was used to Devlin's odd tendencies and strange behaviors after being around him as much as she had. He was a bit of a weird kid, but a sweet person none-the-less. Likable, if you could get past his other, less appealing traits. Still, though, she had never seemed to get used to the fact that he continuously forgot that magic was not to be performed in public. It was just lucky for him that it wasn't broad daylight and that they weren't on a crowded street. Otherwise she wouldn't have managed to remain so calm.
So, instead of reprimanding the boy too much, she merely reminded him of their rule. It was better than how Malcolm had reacted. He had almost grabbed Devin's arm. Bad idea, with water in the air and all. "Devin, no magic in public, remember? Someone might see you." She did have to admit, though, that he was amazingly talented at what he did. It was just so effortless for him, it was almost unfair.
As she munched on the last of the chocolate the Merlin had given her, a slight movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention and she glanced down. Her new apprentice - actually, her first apprentice - had apparently shuffled over to stand beside her. Melanie felt distantly suspicious of the little smile on the girl's face, but didn't mention it or think much about it. The Merlin had spoken again, and even though he was mostly talking to Devin at first, she returned her attention to him.
"Mm-hmm." Melanie nodded a good-bye, figuring it would be rude to actually speak with semi-melted chocolate in her mouth. She watched the Merlin until he turned the corner, which was about when his magical aura dissipated. He was gone, then. Interesting old man, he was.
She swallowed to clear her mouth of any remaining chocolate in order to speak. "Alright, Cailee." She looked down at the girl, trying to keep her expression clear. She hadn't taught someone before, but the last thing that she needed was to seem nervous or unsure. "I'd say that the best place to start teaching you would be at my apartment. It's not exactly tidy, but we'll have all the materials we'll need to get your lessons started and then some." Her apartment was about a ten minute walk away, and in roughly the same direction as they were heading now. She'd be able to help Malcolm on patrol until then, and then she'd be on call to assist in case of an emergency. Until he got a new partner to work with, she got the sneaking suspicion that she'd be working two jobs. "It's getting late, though, so when do you actually need to get home?"

Devin heard the Merlin and Melanie but was unable to respond or react in any meaningful way. Her eyes were fixated on Malcom, curiously studying his face with intensity. The proverbial wheels were turning in her heads and if one gazed into her eyes long enough they might swear they could see the gears churning behind the glassy brown eyes. Something in her mind had snapped her attention, suggesting and pulling her towards some important tidbit. What was it? Her intent stare continued until after the Merlin was gone. She was not angry or afraid at the attempt to grab at her.
And then it clicked. Suddenly, unexpectedly, the answer popped into her head and a flash of recognition blinked into her usually somewhat vacant eyes. "NO ZAP!" she yelped, this time looking a little skittish and frightened. Before anyone could try to assuage her fears, she threw the chocolate bar in the air and flew off down the sidewalk, screaming like a mad lunatic. Not that it was a stretch of the imagination for the vapid woman to be regarded as insane....
"Aaaaaiiiieeeeeee!" she yelled. Who on earth actually yelled that word? "I WAS GOOD! NO ZAPPIE MEEEEEE! NUUUUUUUUUUUU!" If it wasn't bad enough the wizard was drawing attention to herself with all the carrying on, she was also flailing her arms. Normally this wouldn't be terribly worrying, but in her excitement and fright, she was still conjuring water out of her palms and fingers. So tied was she to the magic, she was leaving a small stream in her wake. It was subtle enough that someone wouldn't notice it unless they were quite close to her... but should she careen into someone (which was inevitable), the trickling liquid wouldn't be very discreet.
Devin didn't mean ill, she was just bloody terrified of being electrocuted and being such a strong conduit of magic, her abilities were manifesting in a most inconvenient way. This was bound to end poorly with the werewolves, vampires, hunters, and not to mention the average joes wandering about.... and it was certain that once she did meet a messy end to her run, she'd be lost once more.
