Kai sat for a while and waited, he had faith in his student even if she seemed to be dying momentarily. "Focus..." Was the only word he seemed to let excape from his mouth as his body compostion seemed to change from sand to human again, preparing for emergency procedures.

Pana's head fell heavily. She could hear her heart pound in her head, and she also heard it stop. Her hand that was fused with the tree had been flexed duirng her stuggle, but now it would have laid open.
She went out cold, but she didn't die. She was aware of her black surroundings. It was hard for her to think, because it hurt so much. Her body felt numb and she wanted to cry. She tried calling for help, but her voice did not exist in this realm.
Suddenly, a faint breeze began to twist around her neck. It was cold and made Pana want jump. The breeze became stronger the more the girl concentrated on it. She didn't know what it was. But she knew it was good.
She awoke, and she was breathing like a tree. She didn't know how. She took deep breaths and with more air came more conciousness. The branches moved up and down to her breathing. But how did she do it? She decided to ask the tree with her thoughts. It did not answer her with words but wth a warmth. The tree had saved her. The breeze around her neck was the tree's own breath. The two beings had connected! But all of the excitment had made Pana sleepy and she rested her head against the tree, and breathed with it.

~That doesn't count...~ Kai thought to himself, pulling out a few scrolls. "You need to meditate more, much more before we continue anything else." He was rather frustrated that onl her arm was able to merge with the tree. "...much more..." His new concern was how she would be able to get out, seeing as how she'd exhausted her chakra. He took a few scrolls in his hand, and began to chant things of foreign origin as the symbiosis she had with the tree, was dissconnected, breathing with her lungs, the tree breathing with its leaves and her arms were hers. It was a 'Kai' or Dispell scroll, and a powerful one at that. He left a note on her forehead reading: 'Meet me back at the dojo for more training.' As his body dissapeared into sand on a glae of wind.

Pana awoke, read the note, cursed, hugged the tree, and left for the dojo. Her arm throbbed with pain and her fingers felt jammed up.

Kai stood in the stone garden portion of the dojo with a wodden Katana he had used as a weapon long ago, tapping it gently on the rocks in the area as if to lead Pana to him.

She arrived a little unenthusiacticly. She jiggled her arm to get the blood flowing and she swore that she was covered in splinters.

Kai lifted his head not turning to face her as a large stone proped up from the many other rocks in the garden. "Sit..." He said as he sat on his own stone.

Sit? The girl thought. Man... I'm in for it! She sat down on the rock hesitantly as though it were boobie-trapped.

"Listen...Tsuchi isnt a one time learn it quick trick like all those other elements. The point of the written test was to see how much of it you knew. There are 5 aspects of tsuchi that are conjoined with theses other lacky elemnts gving us the advantage. But in order to master it takes much mental focus on the earth as well as physical focus. It takes all the theories of physics or any science you can ralte as well as folk lore, It is the myth that lives, it is as much a creator as it is the destroyer. Tsuchi needs mediation...not just tree hugging." There wasn't a hint of anything in his voice. "The proper way to meditate, is to sit on the eart itself, and focus your chakra into it, let its energies and memories become yours. Rocks are basic becasue they've been around so long, its easy to see why you would meditate in a rock garden." He paused again still not looking at her. "This exercise is detrimental, the reason why you failed the last one, is becasue you never tried this one. This excercise lets you become the tsuchi, without becoming it unlike the last one. So, try it...you have no hints but to think..."

"I'm sorry I'm causing you so much trouble. But you have to understand. I'm not from some ancestral ninja family... I'm not even from this country! I was not born to use chakra and the only reason I have a matter manipulation power is because my mother's blood was not compatiable with my father's which makes something like a mutant." She was becoming emotional and she tried to lower her voice, "I have alot on my mind, so it's hard for me. I came to this dojo because I needed help..... in everything." She paused and looked at the ground. She wanted to leave. To go out and find another dojo where she could start over. She didn't like this one. She only knew one person and he seemed to hate her. She came across another person and she figuered he hated her too. She had alwaysed admired ninjas and she went through alot to get to the dojo. But she underestimated the training and how she would be treated.
"I think it was a mistake to find shelter here. I don't belong here... so I'll leave."

"Wait..." He paused himself almost grining. "I'm not of ancestral ninja bloos either, nor am I from his same country. I came here much like you did, looking for a place to call home...my mother was in the mafia, my father...he destroyed our own village...He was a demon...I was part demon, a demon of many forms until I began to realize...If i was...then why did I lose my powers?" He stopped looking up towards the celing. "You see...I did some resaerch...I found out...in the place where I lived...they did expirements...and...I'm one of them...I havent quite figured it all out yet...but...I know its true...I grew up in the city, and found myself here after a run in wiht the law...and that's my story...not everyone is a ninja by birth, and you dont have to be to be good here...Even sempai isn't a ninja by birth haha..." He turned in her direction waving two fingers in a peace sign.

"Well..." she let the information calculate in her head and then let out a sigh. "I have alot on my mind and... it's not safe." She wanted to tell him about why she was here, but she couldn't find the words. "I'm sorry... I guess." ((Damn you writter's block!)) She fell silent and let him continue with his lesson.

She was too upset to meditate. He didn't understand, but it shouldn't have surprised her. She sighed heavily and closed her eyes trying to make it seem like she was using her chakra. She thought about her home and how her family would be humilated if they saw her now. They would dissaprove of her and damand that she go home.
These thought made the girl sad, but then she remembered how they already hurt her. How they already banished her. Her chakra was tapped with out her comand and she squinted her eyelids shut furisously. Small rocks near her began to jump around.

Kai's two finger tapped the rested upon the girls forehead, grinning he said, "Good, you starting to use your chakra..but if you use it with anger...your better suited for Ho. Earth...is more of a free spirit, we can do it all, but you need to control yourself before you control it...but hey, if anger is you, then go ahead..." Walking out of the room he said, "Keep meditating." His foot steps could be heard, seemingly everywhere, as well as the scribbling of a pen on paper.
