Ephiny sighed. She was glad that was over with. There always was something, some unforeseeable event that would just make the day longer. She never had a dull day that was for sure. Her stomach gave a weird twinge when she caught Cyane' overt wink. She shook her head. Even though she was sure that everybody in the village knew about her and Cyane, she could not give in to public displays of affection. She was the Regent for Zeus' sake!

"Cyane, now please tell me what happened before everybody started frolicking in public?" Her face became serious again. It was important that she knew what and who they were dealing with. It was worrisome that an intruder had gotten so close to the village. How had he or she managed to evade her scouts? She had full faith in Eponin, the scout leader's abilities. After all, even Xena could not get past her unnoticed.

Ephiny was extremely perceptive, even more so of Cyane whom she took ever opportunity to observe even when they weren't together. "Spill, as if I can't tell you're worried about something." Whatever it was, Ephiny could handle it. After losing her husband and giving birth to her son in a war-zone, Ephiny knew nothing could hurt her more. Well, almost nothing. She was fiercely loyal and loved her friends dearly, her lovers more so. The pain she had felt when her husband died, she did not want to relive again. As she held Cyane's gaze, she knew she definitely wanted to avoid that at all costs.

Ephiny smiled. One of them could die any day; it was the reality of life. What wouldn't she give for a month, a year, or better yet, a lifetime of peace and quiet?

"Yes, it is worrisome. Yes, one of us could die, but there is no motive as to why anybody would want our death. No, our demise is not their goal. I suspect it is something else and that worries me more than a mere assassination attempt," Ephiny said thoughtfully.

An assassin, she could deal with. After all, she at least knew what the perpetrators were after. This was more obscure and infinitely more dangerous as they had no idea what to expect. The element of surprise was an advantage their enemies had over them.

She sighed. "We'll be fine. Don't worry too much," the reagent reassured as she began walking over to the temple to help with the reconstruction.

The goddess had seemed to answer thier prayers becouse for almost two years there was no attacks from the mysterous red haired warrior. The temple of Artemis was now done and it was beautifull,made of stone and the inside it was very nicely decorated. It has several statues of the goddess and her favorite hounds as well as a stag a bear and a rabbit,all three things that were commonly hunted. The walls were covered with animal heads and tapestries dipicting Artemis while on the floor there was a large bear skin. The main focus of the temple was a stone throne chiar with bear and fox furs as well as a beaverskin duck feather filled sitting coushin.

Cyane ordered the hunters to go out and bring back two of the best deer they could find as an offering. When they returned she placed the offerings on the stone table in front of the throne and spoke"Great Goddess Artemis,our creator who watches over us we bring you this offer in hopes that it pleases you as well as the temple that we have built for you" she then waited for the goddess Artemis to apear and tell them what she thought of her new temple.

Cyane felt someone touch her hand and she glanced over to see Ephiny standing by her side.When the other woman smiled she couldn't help but smiled back,she wanted so badly to put her arm around the regeant but dared not to. Cyane soon noticed that the others were giving her knowing glances and she rolled her eyes before giving them her 'I would stop that right now if I were you unless you want to get the worst chores possible'look and they quickly looked away. Now she couldn't help but smirk,she may not be queen anymore but she still had it in her. She looked over at Ephiny agian and she decied screw them and everything else for that matter,reaching out she took Ephiny's hand in her own.

Just when they had hope and peace a scream could be heard outside of the temple and then yelling. A young girl stumbled into the temple and fell,a knife stuck out of her back. Azalie stepped over the girl and turned,pulling the knife out she grinned and wiped it off before putting it back in its sheath on her belt.

"Well well well it seems I disrupted something very important,I'm very sorry for that. Wait a minute no I'm not sorry"she chuckled before motioning for her warriors to come in,all of whome were woman and amazons like them only from a diffrent tribe.


Cyane quickly let go of Ephiny's hand and looked around for a weapon,being that she was helping to build the temple she did not have a weapon on her. Seeing the hunting spear on the wall she grabbed it and waited for this woman to attack."Who are you and what do you want?"anger was very much presant in her voice.

"Isn't it obvous I want both of you dead!"Azalie replied before running at Cyane and Ephiny her dagger drawn.Her amazons following suit knowing that there was no way that those two alone could take down all of them.

Just When Cyane thought they were doomed she heard more yelling,at first she thought that it was more enemies but she quickly recognized her sisters who quickly joined in the fight and evened things out. She whooped out a call and they answered,Cyane grinned as she dodged one of Azalie's attack and came back with one of her own.

Azalie couldn't believe this,it was only suposed to be those two but suddenly the entire vilage was there. This wouldn't stop her thought,she dodged the spear by rolling around it and nearly cut Cyane's ear right off."I will kill you and then her and theres nothing you can do about it"Azalie yelled to Cyane which distracted her for a moment. Seeing the distraction she lept foward and plunged the dagger deep into the older womans shoulder.

Cyane was distracted only for a moment when she seen the dagger coming at her,she couldn't avoid it but she could make sure the deadly blade missed her heart. Leaning down she took the dagger in her shoulder,it hurt but at least she was still alive and she could stil fight.
