((Here we go again... sweatdrop ))
---
Devyn raised an eyebrow once more, looking back and forth between the two Pae with a thinly-veiled mix of confusion and irritation. He'd definitely been pulled into something more complicated and convoluted than he'd been in the mood for dealing with. So much for having a little fun.
"I never said the title was disrespectful. Queen, princess...I don't really care about that. What I was objecting to was your behavior in treating the lady like a possession and not as a Pae with her own free will." He paused, looking at Erylia now with a sigh. "However, it seems that the lady doesn't object either, so I have no grounds for my argument as it stands. I believe you two seem to have a few issues to work out amongst yourselves that have nothing to do with me though, so if neither of you minds, I'll be taking my leave now."
With a brief bow to either Pae that suggested a gesture of respect that he certainly didn't feel, the demon was quick to take his exit. There had to be a better source of entertainment here at the party with fewer complications. There were quite a few lovelies and one was sure to catch his eye...
---
Funny thing...Kane wasn't too fond of kids either.
However, Melek's scent was mingled enough with Takeko's that they were almost one and the same in the feral demon's mind. That fact alone prompted his automatic reaction that he'd find himself questioning later once he was alone again...
Snarling and moving faster than the eye could see, Kane darted between the obnoxious female and the child, flaring his wings in a threatening manner while shielding the young one behind him. If he'd been thinking clearly, he'd have been sure that he'd just gone instantly insane.
His voice was harsh and grating as it forced its way past the warning growl in his throat. "If you value your life, you'll back down now...if not and you have a death wish...I'd be only too happy to grant it, child..." He cracked his knuckles suggestively, his claws already unsheathed and glittering in the low light as he held them warningly close to the female.
"KANE!"
Takeko practically flew across the room, and if she'd thought it would have gotten her through the crowd of Pae'il quicker, she would have. The angel swiftly scooped Melek into her arms, shielding him protectively against her chest as she noted with concern that Kane hadn't even twitched at her scream. That was not a good sign...when he got like this...well, it just wasn't good, she'd leave it at that...
"Kane!" She tried again, reaching out hesitantly for his shoulder. "Please...don't do this. Melek is alright, aren't you, honey?"
It wasn't that she wasn't worried for the angel child, but more that she was trying to calm the feral demon male as quickly as possible...before anything unfortunate happened.
Melek was clinging to Takeko, though he didn't seem as upset as one might think; more like he'd been surprised. After a moment, he peeked over Kane's shoulder to glare furiously at the mean female. Maybe the blue one would eat her...
---
Serefina seemed a bit distressed as she shook her head. "I'm not sure it's a 'nice' power, necessarily, even if I might have needed it. And no, it had nothing to do with water that I could tell." She sighed, wondering if explaining further might scare Rain away...but realized she couldn't stop now as he might draw even worse conclusions if she didn't.
"There was a bit of an incident once," she started slowly and planning to give him the quickest version of the story possible. "Another Merrio--I mean, Naiad...something," she shook her head, confused for a moment before continuing. "Another of my kind, made what I took to be a threatening gesture towards a small land-dwelling Pae'il child. A fae, if I recall correctly. I don't know what happened exactly. All I remember is that I got really angry and all I could think about was protecting the child...next thing I know, the water is heating up rapidly around me, specifically the water close to the other water-dweller. It stopped almost as soon as it started, though I can only assume it was something I was doing and when surprised, I stopped."
She shrugged, wondering if she was going to be rejected by her new friend, if she'd scared him away with her story. "It's never happened again since then..." she added quietly, as if in reassurance it wouldn't happen again. Whether that was directed towards Rain or towards herself, none could say.

spookyx7 ((She's just sitting and observing everyone else. I'll have walk up. biggrin )) Alicia sighed and was bored of watching all the paes she didn't know mingle. She felt a small rumble in her belly and decided to check out the buffet.
She walked up and smiled at the pae that was standing there. "Is there anything good?" She wasn't shy really and wasn't sure what the food was like. Aoaka blinked, taken by surprise at being talked to, and looked to his left and right before realizing she really was talking to him. He pointed to a couple of things on the table.
"Ah... well, the shrimp is good... and so is the punch... I haven't tried anything else, yet," he said, fumbling a bit for words, and ducking his head shyly, eyes downcast.
His polite nature spurred him on, however, now that words were being exchanged, and he continued, "I don't believe we've met. My name is Aoaka."

Criofan waved when Devyn left to go find another woman. Once he was gone, Criofan took a step closer to Erylia. "Excuse me." Something about her bringing that up made his blood boil. Why was her older brother snooping around in the Personal Ads for him? Did Erylia send him to do that? Did she really not trust him? Though it was true that he had put an ad up, it wasn't exactly because he wanted to be rid of her.
"Why was Tristen snooping around for my ad? Did you have some reason to suspect me? And number two, I only put that ad up because my brother made me. Texas said I was moping, and therefore I should up a personals ad up to see if I could get any potential dates. I protested because I wanted you, Erylia. Now, before you go assuming things, think a bit more about why I might have done such a thing."
The leprechaun rolled his eyes and glanced away from her. "Or perhaps I'm just wasting my time trying to explain that to you. You tell me." Criofan was never fond of wasted time.

Rain listened to her story and nodded when it was time for him too. "Well, I would guess you have to be angry or wanting to protect someone to use it. Maybe it's just never happened again." Rain said after she was done. "I'm sure that if it did happen again you would control it better."

Aspen watched in horror as the scene unfolded. Before he could blink he was next to Takeko's side, not quite rmemebering how he got there. "What is the meaning of all of this?" Why had Kane come what was the female doing to thier child. Aspen looked to see Melek was ok with a small sigh.
---
"Shrimp, huh?" Alicia smiled at the male, "My name is Alicia. I actually haven't met very many pae." She hadn't met any past her Mother and Father since her arrival, hance why she had come to this party. She hadn't done to well at mingling just yet though.

Haru made his way through the other paes to the middle of the dancefloor. He whirled around all ready to dance with Yukio when he noticed that somehow during the rush he had lost the other pae. "Yukio?" Great, now who could he dance with?

"Much." She brightly smiled, bouncing back a little to spin into his arms and peck his chin. "You'll be the lord of the dance floor in no time."
First. His tail. eek He sharply yelped, an instant before something clamped onto his back, a sharp pain on his skalp...He lightly growled and without looking, reached back to grab the child on his back around the waist and yank him infront of his face. A little boy? He turned to see whatever had hit his tail. "I have a sister that would love to meet the two of you." stare
Still Tristen leaned against the far wall, sunny's hat pulled low. It threw off his breathtaking look with his muscular body and gold-white mask. But it helped to hide the tear streaks down his face. Pain. A player? Tristen never saw it like that. He loved everyone...he wanted to make everyone happy. He just wanted to make everyone happy. "Why so low, oh brother of mine?" His head snapped up, golden brown eyes flashing open to focus on his sister. "Amara." "Relax..." She reached forwards, flashing a beautiful smile. Everything about Amara physically could be called beautiful. Gently she whipped the tear stains with an index finger, her smile almost sweet. Almost. "Everything is going to be alright." This was bad. Really bad. Amara didn't do sweet. "What are you doing here sis?" Thank gaurdians Dyas wasn't here.
She glided with him, seemingly oblivious of all around her. It almost was unreal to her, the idea of a dance with a guy foreign to her. The few guys she had dated fled the moment they could. 'Ready?' her eyes flicked up to christopher, and she smiled lightly. "Are you?" They stepped into the dancefloor, the hybrid distantly hoping her father would wait a bit before finding them.
"I'm neutral." Not objecting? Well, she saw nothing to really object about. "Though thanks." She guessed. The female gave a soft sigh as she watched the demonic walk off. There went her fun for the night. Her violet gaze moved to Criofan. There definatly went her fun for the night. "Tristen, if you recall, is the fae of love. He has a daughter who is love-less. He was going to hook her up with one of the males there." For some odd reason...his accusations made her stomach churn. "I overheard your name when he was talking to my mother about it. Concidering I still live with her. Didn't think it would be against your will. Never saw you as the type." Why did she feel so sick? They weren't an item...why should she care what he thought about her? She turned to walk away. Just away from him, go into the crowd or up to her room, or something. Something. "Like I'd question the only one I could trust." The words 'because I wanted you' seemed to taunt her in the back of her mind.
It wasn't for certain what Cressida was expecting, but it certainly wasn't that. She froze instantly upon the feel of his wing brushing against her when it flared open. Blink...blink...blink. The female rushed into view, scooping up the child. Her eyes narrowed. "So beneathe it all...you're just like them." The demonic reached to the table then, and picked up the punch bowl to throw the entirety of its contents onto Kane, the male having no where to go with her infront, table to the right and female to the left. "Bring it." Like HELL was she going to be the submissive!

Uh oh. Now he had caught them. What was she supposed to do? She could either run away and have Magnus mad at her, or she could stay and fight. Well, Magnus said that they wouldn't get in trouble no matter what they did so she had to take his word for it. She had made sure that he told her the truth. After staring with wide eyes at the adult, she did the first thing that seemed best. "Let go of him, you poop-head!"
As he walked, he kept looking for Tristen and wondering where in that room he could be. He had to be here, right? Why wouldn't he be? It didn't make any sense for him to stay home on such an exciting night. While he didn't immediately find the person he had been looking for, he did find someone else.
"Haru!" Letting of his friend, he ran to embrace the adult nymph. Even though the man was wearing a dress, Hyacinthus could still recognize his distinct wings and the antennae on his head. Without those, the young faery pae might have been at a loss in trying to find another old friend. "I haven't seen you in so long! Tex, you remember Haru, right?" He beamed with affection to see Haru.

Well, Magnus wasn't about to have that. If Shageki didn't listen to Eboraria, Magnus turned his head and clamped down on Shageki's hand, sinking his teeth into the flesh as best as he could considering the situation. Then, he let go and hopped out of his hands, whether Shageki prevented Magnus from biting him or not. "RUN!" The young child began to run across the masquerade, hoping to get so lost in the crowd that the blue starry Pae'il wouldn't catch them. He glanced back to make sure Eboraria had known to follow.
Haru? That name sounded familiar. Texas tilted his head to look at the femininely dressed nymph from a different perspective before it dawned on him. Haru! Right, the nymph that Hyacinthus had a crush on. Well, at least it was better than Tristen. "Yeah, I remember him. Hello, Haru." Texas was as cordial as possible, despite the fact that he still wasn't fond of the fact that Haru and just about evey other adult that Hyacinthus had ever met was his competition.
"Nice dress. You certainly had me fooled for a few moments there." If he was intending to trick people, Texas might-as-well be polite and compliment him on his efforts.
Why did women have to be so baffling?! She seemed honestly hurt, and Criofan wasn't exactly sure what to do. "I really had no choice! If you were there, you'd see why!" He shouted after her, uncertain as to what to do with her and himself. Was he supposed to follow her? Was he supposed to let her walk off and spend some time to herself until she got over it? Was he just supposed to let her go? This was confusing, and Criofan hated being confused. A leprechaun didn't get baffled! Yet, there he was, confused by a demonic he had no idea what to do with. "And you should know me better!"
Giving up, he shouted, "What do you want me to do?!" Well, he might-as-well ask her. Maybe she'd tell him to go away or something, and make his decision-making process a lot shorter.

"Hyacinthus? Hi!" He pulled his friend into a hug and then smiled at both paes. "I'm well. How are you?" It was always a treat to see Hyacinthus.
Haru turned to Pete, not realizing he thought he was dressed as a trick, and a wide smile appeared on his face. "Why thank you! I thought I looked pretty good myself."

The males eyes jerked from the female to Magnus at the bite, a short hiss of breath rushing through his teeth. And just like the first reaction to a spider bite, he sharply flicked his hand down, throwing the boy onto the ground as he tried to get rid of the beast. His emerald eyes widened, lips parting in an apology just as the other darted off into the crowd. Shageki took a step towards him, froze, and frowned down at his hand. Bleeding. Great. Now he had to go and get it disinfected. Hopefully the kid didn't carry rabies.
She walked away, her masquerade party fun dying in the ashes. She was going to go to her room and throw up. Or at least attempt to, having had nothing to eat. If she was there? Know him better? She hated excuses. She did what she wanted, what pae were supposed to do! The female however froze at his last question. And with that, she sharply spun, filling her lungs with air. "I want you to make up your mind already! If you want to be more, then take your ad down and say so. And if you don't, well, then I'm going to go upstairs and practice table top dancing!" Why in the name of the gaurdians was she going to practice table top dancing? She didn't even know anymore, but since she said it, she was going to do it.
"Mmmm...nope." She grinned, simply resting against him now. "Can't have you showing me up afterall." The female winked and spun away, the skirt of her dress fanning out. "You know what you do want to be though?"

Criofan had a roller coaster of an hour. He became tipsy and then drunk ice water to shake himself out of it. He stalked Erylia and the man she was dancing with until he managed to fork them apart. Then he and Erylia just yelled at each other. When would it all end! She just kept walking away from him until he breathed his final question, and he sighed in relief to see her turn around. Maybe she would give him a final answer and he could finally relax.
Practice table-top dancing? Somehow, that hardly surprised him. It seemed like a type of daring thing Erylia would like to try at some point. However, he had the chance to prevent her from doing it now. Instead of replying, he strolled up to her and grabbed her wrist. "Why do you think I got myself tipsy in the first place? I saw you with Devyn, or whatever his name was, and thought you had moved on all too quickly."
He couldn't help wondering why he felt like such a slave to her every need. The dramatic, hormonal lives of teenagers. Personally, Criofan couldn't wait to be done with it.
Being thrown on the ground wasn't exactly what Magnus had in mind, but it certainly was effective in what he wanted to do. It came as a bit surprising, but he dashed away as soon as he could. Hopefully, Eboraria heard his yell. After getting what he thought was a suitable distance away from the now bleeding demon, he turned back to make sure that Eboraria got that they were supposed to flee now. Perhaps they could try bothering people that didn't act like that. Maybe the new people would be calmer.

Aoaka started to respond to Alicia, and had gotten as far as opening his mouth when suddenly the other end of the table erupted into some sort of confrontation that he hadn't been aware was brewing until it happened.
He stood there, mouth dropped open, hand half-raised, until the punch bowl was overturned onto the male Pae with the threatening posture. He reached for Alicia's hand, and pulled her back with him as he skittered back a few feet in shock.
"Uh... so much for trying the punch?" he asked in an unsteady voice, releasing her hand once they were several more feet away from the table. Was this what he was missing by not coming into 'civilization' more often? If so, he didn't think it was much of a loss.

Alicia gasped at the confrontation. What was going on? She felt herself get pulled with Aoaka and then smile gratefully at him. "Thanks, that's so odd."
She never remembered her Mom saying things like this happened often. She thought the isle was more peaceful. "Does that kind of thing happen alot?" She asked Aoaka.
