"It's fine." Sunflash replied and just let her fall asleep. He found a spot for himself and then also went to sleep.

Fauste had left Mia's in the late night saying she'd return for Sunflash later. When Fauste came back it was quite a bit later at night and everyone'd been to bed already. Fauste tacked down a note where Mia'd be likely to see it.

"Dear Mia and Nashi,

Sunflash and I had to go home due to a family emergancy. Very sorry about the abrupt leave but it was very important and dire. Please understand!

On a happier note, I hear there is a carnival going on. Me and 'Flash'll be there. Hope you and Nashi'll make it! We look forward to seeing you there.

Signed,
Fauste and Sunflash."

After the note was left, Fauste went and awoke Sunflash carefully so as not to startle or wake Nashi and the two left into the night.

Today when I woke up I found a note from Fauste attatched to my door. She had to leave becasue of a family emergency. Well anyway, I hope to see them soon!

Nashi and I really have to get going on our flight learning. She has been distracting us too much. (But I suppose its a bit of my fault too... sweatdrop )

I suppose that today we'll start up on that again. Hopefully she wont be so... daydreamy. Well, i'm gonna go wake her up now!

Nashi did very well with her lessons! I was able to get a whole 6 hours in! She has learned much, proved by the quiz I gave her after the lesson, and I hope to teach her much more before her flight lesson with the faeries. I think that Sunflash is having a very good influence on her.

It's been a few days since I started Nashi's training. We've gotten through approxomatly 4 books (and thick ones, too!) I think it's time for her to go to the faeries.

When I told her about her faerie training, she was a bit confused. She showed me an image of the sick faerie that we healed, asking if she would be her teacher, and I just shrugged. I have no idea how this is going to go. I dont even know if the faeries will be willing to train her. I guess we'll just have to see. 3nodding

"Naaaashiii!" I yelled into the barn, backpack in hand, "time to gooo!" She came racing out of her stall, and as usual, almost trampled me. "Ready?" I asked. She nodded and showed me the path into the forest. "Yeah. Thats where we're going," I replied. We walked out of the barn and into the forest, our feet knowing the way to go.

As we entered the faerie city, the Queen fae greeted us with a somewhat surprised expression.

"I did not expect you so soon," she said, a hint of dissappointment in her voice. I looked at Nashi and she was too confused.

"Umm... did we come at a bad time?" I asked.

The queen shook her head. "No, no. Its just that we havent prepared for your visit. The sorceresses did not tell us you were coming. I'll have to talk to them..." she started to turn, but I stopped her.

"Wait! I uh..."

She pivited in the air to meet my gaze, eyebrow raised. "Yes?"

"I need to ask a favor."

We discussed the circumstances, while the queen made mental notes, and eventually decided that it was only right for Nashi to start her training immediately. And strangely enough, her teacher would be the Fae we rescued, her name being Arya. The queen also suggested training in Nashi's earth magic, for which I promptly agreed. The faes would teach her well.

I was about to leave when the queen came speeding hurredly out of her cucoon and landed on my shoulder. "You shall stay." She looked at me with her violet eyes, and then fluttered back to Nashi's side. I followed.

"Follow me," she said. Her words were always so blunt and unexplained, and I had no idea where she meant to take us, but soon we arrived at a waterfall; its thundering water spraying mist onto my skin. "This is where Nashi's training will commence," she said, gesturing toward the area. "She shall stay in the waterfall cave until it is complete, along with you. Beds have been layed out." Her arm descended, and Arya appeared through the foliage beside the waterfall. The queen inclined her head as she joined our group. Arya repeated the gesture.

"Good day." She eyed Nashi with a twinkle of awe in her eyes, but quickly went expressionless when the queen gestured for her to speak. "I am Arya and will be your trainer. You shall learn proper care and use of your wings, along with Earth Magic."

The queen approved of her speech. "I'll just leave you two to your... training," she said, and sped off to take care of some important matter. We were left staring awkwardly at each other.

"Dont mind her," said Arya, relaxing at the abscence of the Queens prescence. "She has to act so important around visitors, but she can be just the kindest and warmest creature of all the Faes."

I nodded. "Yes, of course." However, I was not convinced.

After a few moments of silence, Arya took action, clapping her hands together as she spoke. "Shall we begin then?"

Arya started by putting a spell on the water of the stream flowing beneath the waterfall to make it warm. Nashi, as she explained, would attempt to fly over the water and obviously, if she failed, would fall into the water below. Nashi was hesitant, but eventually gave in.

"Now," said Arya, speaking with much authority, "please fly above the water for 3 seconds." Nashi looked at her in disbelief. I did also.

"Arent you going to, like, explain how to do it first or something? She's attempted it before and... well it didnt go so great. She just cant do it at will!" My anger was rising. How did Arya expect flight so soon?

"You will see," was her answer. I grunted and sat angrily on the grass. Arya chuckled. "It is time, my dear," she said happily to Nashi, who nodded and spread her feeble wings. She lept into the air as I cringed in fright, and flapped them as hard as her muscles would allow. But into the depths she plunged.

"Nashi!" I clambered to my feet and ran to the stream's edge. But Nashi's small grey head appeared above the surface, and I let out a breath of relief. She climed out of the water, dripping, and shook herself off. Arya shook her head.

"No, no, no!" she said. "You cannot just... flap your wings. You must glide! Like this!" She "glided" to us and halted before our annoyed faces. "Listen, I know that you are trying, but it is impossible to ride the currents when you break them. Try again, and this time, glide." Nashi did so, and to my shock and surprise, was able to fly above the water for a full second. She repeated this exercise several times. Each repetition she would stay above longer, and at last when Arya stopped her for the day, had flown for 5 seconds without falter. I had to say that I was pleased with her progress.

We retired to the waterfall's cave. It was a cozy space, yet was able to fit Nashi and I comfortablly and with plenty of room to spare. Two beds of moss and leaves awaited us at the far wall.

"This is nice," I commented, and Nashi made clear her approval. We were both exausted, although Nashi much more than I, and fell asleep at the moment our heads caressed our pillows.

In the morning, I woke up slowly. My eyes fluttered open, and I took a few minutes to stretch. Nashi was already outside in the grassy area training with Arya.

"Good morning," I said, stopping at Arya's side. Overnight, she had grown to be my size through magic. "This form suits you."

She inclided her head. "Yes, it does allow some things Fae's are unable to do," she said matter-of-factly.

"So... whats on the agenda today?" I asked.

Arya smiled. "We're going to do a bit of flying, plus, if Nashi improves, some earth magic." Nashi's face lit up.

"Well that sounds like fun. Is there a place for me to sit around here?" I inquired. With a flick of Arya's wrist, a wooden stump appeared behind me.

"Yes, there is," she said, a miscevious smile across her lips.

I sat, and watched the training progress. No longer did Nashi fall into the water. No longer did she strain her every muscle in her tiny body to stay air-bourne. She was able to fly as long as she wanted by noon. At "break time", Nashi trotted up to me, sweat across her coat.

"You did well today," I said sweetly. She nuzzled my face, smearing sweat all over me. "Nashi!" I let it go with a laugh. We had lunch, nuts and berries (to Nashi's pleasure), and Nashi practaced making flowers before her first Earth Magic test. But eventually Arya fluttered to our sides.

"Are you ready, Nashi?" she asked. With a nod, and a quick lick on my face, she loped to the center of the grassy area.

"Alright," began Arya. "I will tell you what to create, and you will create it. If you cannot, I will coach you on that particular color or shape." She thought for a moment before continuing. "I'd like to see a star shaped, hot pink flower, with lime green dots." Nashi nodded and concentrated on the patch of grass in front of her hooves. The area glowed, and then a flower of light pink with baby-blue hearts spotting it appeared, although it was star shaped.

"Uh... that was ok. But you just didnt concentrate on the colors enough. The concentration needs to be on all aspects of the flower, not just a few. It is hard, but dont allow your mind to drift from anything but the flower and what it looks like, got it?" Nashi nodded once more, then stared at the area next to her previous attemt. A flower, perfectly matching Arya's description, grew slowly from the lush green grass.

"Good! Excellent! Now, try this..." It went on for hours like this. Arya described a certain plant or flower, and Nashi attemted to create it. Most of the time Nashi would make a mistake, but it would be quickly revised with Arya's suggestions. I even leared a bit. As the sun began to shrink behind the forest's canopy, Arya decided to call it a day. "You are almost there, my friend," she said, and flew away towards her cucoon, leaving us to ourselves.

"You are pretty much there," I agreed. Nashi smiled and nuzzled my arm. "Bed?" I asked. She nodded. The cave was warm and we were tired. Sleep was welcomed joyously.

Nashi was once again awake when I woke up. But Arya was nowhere to be seen. Nashi was just... sitting there.

"Hey, girl. Whats up?"

She smiled, and a voice rang clear in my mind. "Fine. And you?"

My mouth hung open. "Nashi! How did this happen?!?"

She nickered. "Arya said it would be easier if I could speak to you, so..."

"This is so awesome! We can like, talk!"

"Yes, we can." Her voice was mature and dignified. Nothing as I expected.

"Well, where IS Arya?"

"She said she'd be back in a few minutes. The queen needed her for something."

I nodded. "Yes, alright."

I got dressed and washed my face in the stream. Nashi chased butterflys. Soon, Arya descended from the tops of the trees, and landed next to me.

"I expect that you know of her gift?" she asked.

"Yes. I do. And I can't thank you enough." At this, I hugged her, and her arms remained at her sides, shock upon her face.

"Heh..."

I pulled away, and she straightened herself to a noble stance. "Today I shall fly with Nashi."

Nashi smiled. I nodded. "Have fun, then. But where are you going to go?" Arya pointed above the trees.

"There."

"And maybe through clouds!" Commented Nashi.

I laughed. "See you later, then."

"Bye!"

I trudged to the side of the stream and knelt, resting my head on my hands as Nashi took off with Arya. I wondered when they would return.

"She's progressed quickly," said a familiar voice. I turned, and seeing Aaliyah, smiled.

"Where have you been? I havent seen you at home for a while."

She giggled. "I've been with the Faes." Despite my prodding, she would not reveal anymore. I told her of all the happenings back at the hill, and she listened intently. When I finished she tittered.

"So the Faeries are coaching her. Interesting..." Her gaze ascended toward the sky as Nashi and Arya appeared over the leaves.

I reached out with my mind and touched Nashi's conciousness.

Welcome back. How was your flight? Images of the forest canopy flashed through my mind.

It was wonderful, she replied.

Well thats good.

As she landed, I finally realized what had just happened. We had talked in our minds! In my astonishment, I left my mind unprotected. Nashi quickly corrected me.

It would be wise not to leave your thoughts open for anyone to see.

Yes, I suppose you are right. Now come here! I said cheerily. And she complied.
