Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Britain
Name: Sunrise
Nicknames: Sunny
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Young adult
Hatch Date: 08/05
Type: Deep Woods
Task: ARTISAN. Can’t you TELL?!
Personality: Oh, honey. It would just take DAYS to describe him accurately- he can be SO temperamental and irritable but he really is just SUCH a softy deep down. And really, it isn’t his fault! People just don’t appreciate his WORK, and it’s so terribly frustrating to put hours and hours into a perfect dye job (no no no, work of art) only to have some ungrateful Sentinel just fly off with barely a word of thanks. REALLY. Don’t people understand?! This is his very SOUL they are treading upon! Outside of work he is, of course, much more reserved but even that’s a relative term when it comes to Sunny. Oh, you have a compliment for him? He’ll be flushed and lightheaded about it for DAYS. Attitude, that's what he's got- attitude. Sentinel-tude.
History: This particularly flamboyant Artisan has been ‘special’ since he was a fledgling. With the charm and drama to make any Minder giggle (or fall off a branch laughing when he wasn’t looking), he was sure to make an impression- not surprisingly, he wound up an artist and lives for the joy of feather-dying. He’s extremely good at what he does, but some of the more stoic males find his mannerisms a bit annoying, so most of his ‘customers’ are female.
Territory: Sunny can happily be found in his territory halfway between the border of the Deep Woods and the Lake. His space is open and with a clear view of the area around him, and he’s a very social creature. He lives close to other artisans and the Gatherers who provide the material for his dyes.
Mate: None, but if anyone’s INNterested of course he’ll give them the chaaaance~
Companions: Yes

Part II – Companions
Sunny gives his companions very complicated names. No one uses them, so he has irritably accepted their tolerable nicknames.

Name: Left (Sunlight Incandescent)
Species: Mus
Age: Young adult
Speech Ability: 3
Intelligence: 4
Skill: Left is the slightly smarter of Sunny’s companions. This young lady is girlish and flirty, and quite the expert of knowing exactly what Sunny will need before he needs it, usually when he is mixing dyes. She is dyed in the colors of a true sunrise, more pastel than her counterpart.

Name: Right (Sunset Resting)
Species: Mus
Age: Young adult
Speech Ability: 3
Intelligence: 3
Skill: The more practical of the pair, Right is best at making sure the measurements are exact when Sunny is ready to add substances to the dyes. He is mathematical but cheerful, and extremely patient with the Sentinel’s mood swings. (Whereas Left tends to participate. A good example would be the Lion King, when Puumba is singing AND OOOH THE SHAME with Timon saying ‘it was a shame!’ in the background. Puumba would be Sunny, Timon Left. XD) Right is painted in darker sunset colors.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: MoonKitsune
Name: Sequoia
Nicknames: Sec, Loverboy
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Adult
Hatch Date: 1/18
Type: Deep Woods
Task: Artisan (Sequoia is a Bard outside of the molting season.)
Personality: This brightly colored Sentinel is a range of emotions that are quickly changing. On most occasions, he finds himself enthralled in stunning awe at a newly discovered or rediscovered subject of beauty. Ever passionate, Sequoia can become wrapped up in his own musings, spouting sonnets of stunning caliber to the point that he seems possessed. This can come to amazingly painted limericks of dazzling imagery, or something dark, tragic and gut wrenching that it causes a Sentinel’s eyes to tear and stomach to turn. Such intensity in his moods makes Sentinels who are not use to this uncomfortable if not hesitant to be around him. It would not be the first time Sequoia’s mentality was questioned. Most consider this a truth considered Sequoia’s and Rosinweeds past, a dear friend of his who is suffering from what Sentinels consider an extreme sense of madness, all of which they wonder how far it shall take for the male to find his way to the same fate. There is no doubt that Sequoia finds his moments of uncontrollable mood.
Another reason for his personality comes from the fact that Sequoia, with the heart of an artist, is even more sensitive for a Bard’s standard. Greatly affected by his environment and those that make up it, he can take things to heart and becomes troubled quite often. This makes him empathetic as he picks up on subtle changes in others around him and is usually the first to ask if anything is wrong. That does not mean he does not have his limits and when things become too much for him to handle, he is prone to go to his tree and lock himself away for days, rejecting company.
Associated with his love of nature, Sequoia is rather spiritual, believing deep in the tales of myth and the gods of their species, often using them as inspirations for his poetry. He can sometimes become absorbed in tales of myth and the supernatural, is highly superstitious, and almost becomes dizzy with his thoughts on ‘greater powers’ than Sentinels themselves.
As a norm, Sequoia is social, welcoming, warm and bubbly. He’s affectionate and loving, accustomed to being close to people and smiling that it’s been suggested that he’s a bit effeminate in his ways as he is happier to discuss about flowers and the weather than hunting. As a pacifist, Sequoia is not one for violence and tries to keep the piece when he picks up that there is a conflict arising, even if it’s not the wisest time, sometimes putting himself in harms way when separating angry Sentinels. Situations likes these lead him to become nervous and stutter, a habit that comes back from his childhood and is a constant affliction.
History: Sequoia was raised by the female Bard, Jasmine and the male Minder, Howl.
As he grew, he was known for his quick talking, his love of nature, and his uncontrollable stuttering. When he was younger, he was inseparable from his friends Amber Lily and Rosinweed, being childhood friends though Rosinweed more from being an associated from of Amber Lily’s. Regardless, they stuck close and partook in all types of life lessons and mistakes of their youth. The group shared a combined energy, an eagerness for the world, and a unquenchable curiosity. They where assured to have long and happy lives ahead of them. It came as a confused and jumbled knowledge that at one night, all things changed upon the death of Amber Lily. The specifics where unclear, though the effects where drastic. Rosinweed withdrew to her own tree, having crumbled at her mental foundations, whilst Sequoia immersed himself in his art of words and learning the craft of a Artisan. His Teacher was stunned by his almost feverish desire to work and learn. It wasn’t long till time flew and Sequoia grew up, becoming a skilled Artisan and a poetic Bard.
Territory: Sequoia lives in the inner outside part of the Deep woods near where the Swift Cold and the Swift Open River merge. He likes to keep a place close to Rosinweed so that he can keep an eye on her and that visiting her would not exhausting due to constant visits. He lives in a modest oak with a thick canopy. The entrance to his enclave is partially obscured by a blooming branch of leaves.
Mate: Deceased
Companions: Yes

Part II – Companions

Name: Basil
Species: Parus
Age: Adult
Speech Ability: 3
Intelligence: 3
Skill: Basil was given to Sequoia at a young age to keep his nerves calm and to better train his habits to somehow quell his stuttering. Basil does this with soothing words, gaining Sequoia’s focus, and singing, a reason why Sequoia likes singing now.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: Gelfin
Name: Firefrost
Nicknames: N/A
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Adult
Hatch Date: 04/04
Type: Mist
Task: Artisan (secondary job is Gatherer)
Personality: Firefrost is impartially charming to all and sundry, usually cheerful and rather vain when it comes to her abilities and appearance. However, given all that, she is able to laugh at her vanity when it causes her to say something ridiculous or to act the fool. She takes her duties as an Artisan seriously and her duties as Gatherer slightly less seriously. But the work is worth it when she finds pretty little seeds or stones that she can use in her "real" job.
History: Firefrost was born and raised in a loving family. Her father was a Crafter and her Mother a Gatherer. Between the two, she learned enough about each field to assist her in her passion for artistry. Both her parents are now deceased (honorable old age) and she has no siblings. Firefrost was born well after the Great Wars and only knows the stories some of the older Sentinels tell.
Territory: Firefrost keeps her home and work area in the same rather large tree. Her living space is in a nice hollow in the tree's trunk and her work area in within a series of tightly interwoven branches just outside of the hollow. She hunts the surrounding area and is most careful to ask permission before traveling into another's territory to hunt or gather.
Mate: None
Companions: Yes

Part II – Companions

Name: Hooli
Species: Skurri
Age: Adult
Speech Ability: 4
Intelligence: 4
Skill: Well, someone has to help Firefrost gather up all those small seeds and nuts and squeeze into the areas where tasty mushrooms grow and a Sentinel can't fit! Hooli also serves as a bit of a "gofer" when Firefrost is in the middle of a feather painting job and can't leave.

Name: Kreel
Species: Mus
Age: Adult
Speech Ability: 5
Intelligence: 5
Skill: Kreel serves roughly the same purpose as Hooli, only, she also acts as something of a receptionist for Firefrost. It helps to have two minds to hold onto important information and who to expect in her workspace when!

Name: Huur
Species: Mus
Age: Young
Speech Ability: 3
Intelligence: 5
Skill: Huur is Kreel's little brother and an extra set of nimble paws. As the smallest of the three, he is often sent in to gather the things the others have difficulty reaching.

All three Companions also serve as a friendly ear or two to chatter at while Firefrost works. All three are also quite adept at actually assisting in the feather dying process, their small, nimble paws able to hold larger feather out of the way while Firefrost dyes the smaller feathers.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: ShinosBee
Name: Ename
Nicknames: The Carver, The Mask Maker
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: ???
Hatch Date: 1/11/??
Type: Shadow
Task: Artisan/Crafter (Focus on masks, decorative headpieces made of wood and dead leaves)
Personality: A silent bird, little-known beyond her calling. She is older than most in the clan, though not so much as many. Silent and serious, she rarely ventures beyond her range, both happy and willing to linger in her own haunts. She is passionate about her work, as only one truly dedicated can be. Her sense of timing and decor are esoteric, old, and far flung from the more youthful ideas of the day. Regardless, she is not a harsh judge, and caters to all sorts. Rumors spread now and again that had she lived during the war, her business would have reached customers on all sides. She seems to have only the vaguest concerns over the encroachment of other birds, but oddly enough her nest--and all it's wares and business--will vanish now and again, to crop up months later in another empty patch of forest. She takes to the dark and silent as a fish to water, and is not to be seen out of her home until the deepest hours of the night. She is not fond of the light, or overly bright patterns or colors, or any noise louder than a Sentinel's whisper, unless it is that of a beak or talon across wood, or the rattle of dried leaves.
History: Years past she was a fine, chattery thing. Young and willful, it is said she took a mate, settling down to play the part of Watcher and mother. The tales go that through some fault, hers or that of some other errant Watcher, some creature (varying in size and menace from Bard to Bard) slipped past their guard, slaying several Sentinels before being stopped. Her mate is said to be one of them. In sadness or disgrace, she took wing that very moment, tearing through the forest in a blur of soundless wings. She flew on for days, finally coming to rest in an old soft-wood tree. As if to dispel her sorrows at her lost life, she began to scratch and peck at the poor tree. In her grief, she did not stop for days or nights. Finally exhaustion brought her low, and she toppled from her tree into a thicket of berry bushes below. There she rested for a day and a night, careless to any stalking beasts. When she awoke, not only was she unharmed, but she felt most of her sorrows lifted. She rose again to the tree, and peered at the gash she had made in the bark. The groove was round, and almost face-like in it's figure. Noting a last bit of juice on her claws, she dribbled it over the wood, as if to make the wooden bird cry her tears for her. The effect was so profound on her that she took up the task of Artisan/Crafter then and there, building a nest in the very tree she had decorated. Some stories say she has never been officially trained in her craft, and has never returned to the area near the accident. Others say she returns now and then to sit staring into the ground where her fallen mate is said to last have lain. Other stories say it's all a myth, and she never had a mate to begin with.
Territory: It moves now and again. Each time it is far out from other birds, silent and full of trees. Her roost is always in the softest tree to be found, and relatively close to a bush or plant which gives a dye-like juice. Travelers will always know when they have found one of the 'Ruins of Ename'...the entire tree is carved, base to branch, with the faces of a thousand Sentinels.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: giftwrapped
Name: Meadowsweet
Nicknames: Meadow to her friends, Sweet to her flavor-of-the-week, and all sorts of more unsavory things to other females
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Young adult
Hatch Date: 4 June
Type: Wildtype
Task: Artisan
Personality:
Meadowsweet...wants to have fun. She does what feels good because it feels good and can’t be persuaded to do otherwise. In fact, she does some of the things she does just because she knows others disapprove of them. This contrariness, of course, doesn’t extend to her ingrained Sentinels’ good sense, but she will go to lengths to “show those old fogies”.

She is charming and manipulative and equal-opportunity with Sentinels of both genders, always being just sweet enough and just loose enough to catch and keep their interest, just elusive enough to keep them waiting and wanting more. She loves toying with affections and the thrill of leading others on, and she absolutely adores being able to discard one lad or lady and select another when she feels like it. On the flip side, when she ends up with a Sentinel she actually likes, she gets clingy, possessive, and jealous.

If one can hold firm under her initial flirtation and push to enter into something at a much faster pace than should be comfortable, Meadow will generally go to the effort to befriend that Sentinel purely out of bewildered curiosity. If she’s still resisted, Meadow generally goes off to sulk.

She’s not used to romanticism, so an easy way to win her heart involves nothing more than true courtship and sweetness.

As a friend, she is a bit flighty and frivolous, never really focusing on anything other than her latest flame. She is not a fighter and prefers to charm her way out of situations like that, and...she’s been pretty good at it so far. As an enemy, for many other Sentinels dislike her and disapprove of her, she is generally catty and malicious, but she is more the type to spread rumours than to actually do anything.

There have been...incidents with feather dye and her patrons before, though, so you never can tell with Meadow. It'd probably be a reasonably good idea to keep away from her brush if you've been gossiping about her, though.

Her lack of parents has never concerned her, and she was taught well. Perhaps someday in the future she'll want to really settle down, have an egg, move forward with her life and a mate who loves her. For now, nope. She's quite happy to be herself, even if herself makes her a lot of enemies.

History:
Meadowsweet was born and raised normally enough: given to Minders by parents she was never told of. Whether that was because of the conditions of her birth or because of something else, well...that isn’t important, and she doesn’t know. The point is, she was minder-raised, brought up well.

She never wanted for attention, and she was a relatively bright young female, picking things up quickly, learning to fly on schedule, and though she spent extra time before her Graduation because of the unusual month of her birth, she spent it in a semi-apprenticeship. That extra time gave her the opportunity to really understand her chosen field, and that last little push in the right direction gave her an edge when she finally graduated.

She started toying with affections out of sheer boredom one day. Not long after that, she had her first serious fling. She already knew how much fun flirting could be, and taking that next step forward didn’t require any drastic change of mental gear. So she had the fling, (luckily) produced no eggs, and she and her gentleman friend parted ways.

And she’s been doing that same thing (more or less) ever since.

Territory: A nice little patch of trees on the edge of a birch grove just outside the southwest edge of the Deep Woods, with plenty of places for customers to perch while waiting for the frivolous little perfectionist to get on with her job.
NOTE: She likes birches. A lot.
Mate: None
Companions: Yes

Part II – Companions

Name: Raspberry
Species: Mus
Age: Young Adult
Speech Ability: 2
Intelligence: 4
Skill: Mostly, Raspberry is just a little friend for Meadowsweet. But she is a handy little pair of claws if Meadow needs them. Oh, and she tends to listen in on conversations and report snippets of them back to her mistress. Watch your mouth around this little one.

Player: MoonKitsune
Name: Rosemary
Nicknames: Rose, Mary
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Middle aged
Hatch Date: September, 1
Type: Shadow
Task: Artisan
Personality: Old age has left Rosemary more mature than in her more free-spirited youth, but she still sees the world in a vibrant and beautiful way. She’s the type of Sentinel to stand out in the rain and talk to the sky, or thanking the ground as she picks flowers to serve as inspiration for dyes. The Shadow holds a strong fondness for nature and the mysticism of Noctua itself. Very superstitious, she talks of Mystics to explain life’s mysteries though isn’t against making up stories to entertain herself and others. If she hadn’t been a Artisan, Rosemary would have been a Bard, as she still sings the songs that her mate once sang and a few that she created herself with his aid.
History: There is nothing truly remarkable about Rosemary’s childhood. She graduated as an Artisan with moderately conservative parents. She was enamored with color, and spoke of the world in an idealistic way. She loved being outside and would often spend her time out even during the day, though not too far from her home. With a modest territory, she worked diligently, though was not very reliable to be on time, and loved to prattle with others. Sentinels loved her new designs and remarkable touch of realism in regards to designs that worked off of preexisting patterns, like tree bark or insect designs. Her reputation gained her business and the eye of Willowstone, a bard who also held a lot of love for the world around him, as much as for the past history of Noctua. Both artists instantly found a connection. Both young, they moved together and worked, inspiring one another and filling their territory with art and music. It wasn’t long before Rosemary had her own hatchling and in the nature of her love of the world and color, named him Rainbowchaser. However, her fantasies of raising a child in a world of open creativity were shaken to a hatchling that showed little to no interest and, inexperienced, she later found herself struggling to raise her own child. Later, for unexplained reasons, she gave up her first hatchling to the Minders.
After a while, Rosemary became scarcer and her clients were fewer between. However, when a Sentinel does come bearing a very startling dye job, no one has to guess where it came from. Her skill has gained her notoriety in the past, but through the years, word of the Artisan has grown fainter to the point that talk has almost completely vanished, like the Artisan herself.
Territory: Rosemary and Willowstone live in the west end of the Not-Cold region, near the borders of the Great Western Open. (Rosemary found the exotic wildlife she liked more plentiful there and Willowstone, going with his mate’s wishes, moved in the area far from the Deep Woods. This meant he often was off in-between traveling from home to the meeting places in Deep Woods to hear the latest news.)
Mate: Willowstone – Deceased
Companions: Yes
