((Wasn't sure if we were supposed to roll for a successful attack when we learned it or not, but I got a 20 using penpaperpixel.com so I don't suppose this one matters))

"Violent Wind!" He yelled as he thrusted his palms outwards, letting loose the ball of black reiatsu, which became tranparent, like a fog or some sort of colored air to indicate an attack. The ball smacked a nearby bookcase within' the instructor's view, dissipating into nothing because of the dampener.

[Rp: 8-8=0]

The attack left with so much force, that it plastered Rei against the side of the bookcase behind him. With a large stumble, Rei was brought to his knees. "Hey...I'm....d-" Before Rei could finish, his face would hit the floor pretty hard. The boy had passed out from exhausting all of his reiatsu, beads of sweat slid across his face, to the floor. He had learned two spells, meeting the requirements, but would it count since he had fainted? He had gone down so quickly, the boy didn't even have time for a last thought, now, he was out like a broken light.

::Unlike some others, Medixia isn't exactly in a rush. She knows most others will be graduating to become a shinigami after just two more classes, this and shikai. She'll have to make up the other three before she can join them. With a light breath, she focuses on just letting her body relax and try gathering reiatsu at her hand. Her entire concept of 'control' right now is to imagine the flow as a gentle wind trying to swirl around and gather at her open hand. It starts off rather chaotic.::

::Instead of complaining, Medixia silently thanks that this much didn't blow up in her face. With controlled breaths, she concentrates a little harder on directing her reiatsu on where to go. "Hadou no Ichi, Ranboukaze..." She speaks the chant to herself as she recalls the text on how to utilize her reiatu to attack. She makes mental notes of how her reiatsu responds and continues. As it begins centering on her palm, she can even feel it solidifying into a structure tight enough to almost be called a sphere.::

::Medixia opens her eyes. It's not a sudden act, but her vision is soon flooded with something new to her. She's able to make out traces of her own reiatsu, its flow and color. She's almost surprised to see the lavender color she's grown to love. As it dances about chaotically, she can tell that her 'push' towards centering is most definitely working. At the same time, it feels like trying to manipulate water to do exactly what she wants it to do. There's no way I can use this in battle... With that thought, she shakes her head with at least some determination. Maybe not yet, but I'll get there. With a deep breath, she focuses a little harder on centering the flow of her reiatsu. She's almost surprised to see it work, and the reiatsu heavy wind begins to swirl more tightly above the palm of her open hand.::

::With a confident smile, Medixia knows she's got to be close on this one. If she can just use it, it means she's learned it. It might not be perfect, but it would do for passing the class. At least that's what she hopes. With another few controlled breaths, she watches as streaks of lavender mark the course of her reiatsu and the air it's carrying. She waits until the ball is maximized, which she can tell when it both stops growing and gathering force. If she lets this go too early, it wouldn't feel satisfactory to her. She wants it just right. When it gets to that point, she smiles before...::

Hadou no Ichi, Ranboukaze!

::With the sudden outburst, she thrusts her arm forward in an open-palmed punch towards the nearest bookcase. She didn't like the idea that they were 'opening up' on books, but she knew the dampening effect would kill her hadou long before touching them. As she's thinking this, the wind she'd gathered with the technique does exactly that. It simply and harmlessly washes over the bookcase. She sighs. For a light spell, it took a lot out of her...::

Hikari's satisfied with just knowing Sai for now. She can work on mastering it once class is over. She hops down off the table before quickly turning to her Haruko. "I'm gonna find a new book, Poku-chan!" With a smile, she throws her arms out and runs towards the bookshelf. Inwardly, she's sighing at what her thought is. As much as she hates to admit it, she has to follow Sumizome's advice and learn a healing kidou. She begins fingering books to find what she's looking for. When she comes across a promising one, she quickly picks up the name. Chiyu. Quickly grabbing that book, she pulls it down and begins reading it.

Hikari isn't surprised to find several 'new' ideas involved with chiyu. Unlike hadou, it heals. Unlike bakudou, it relies on the target accepting it. She also learns of another subset of kidou. Boubi. With a slight sigh, she realizes how exciting that prospect is. Before exploring that, though, she needs to get a chiyu or three learned. She slowly walks back to the table where Haruko is and sets the book down. She doesn't stop reading the whole way. Unlike hadou or bakudou, even early chiyu involve long chants. She can guess it's because of how the reiatsu of the caster and target are supposed to interact...

Hikari is intent on reading at this point. She's, first, interested in how the caster's reiatsu is supposed to flow over the target to heal wounds. It's a unique idea to her. It's not like she doesn't think she can do it. It's more like she's concentrated so much on getting stronger and using strong techniques to take down a target that...she's forgotten this branch idea. Sumizome may want it selfishly, but Hikari wants it for herself and her friends. If she can heal even light wounds, she might rescue them from death...from leaving her.

Her eyes don't leave the page as she moves on from concept to chant. She knows more about reiatsu control than most at this point. She's concentrated on that almost exclusively. Part of the reason is for just this, using kidou to its maximum potential. She may be physically weak, but she knows she can aid and support if she can just get this. With shikai and kidou, she'd be able to prevent leaving her friends to battle alone. "Great whales,..." She pauses as she begins speaking the chant aloud. She's still surprised by how long it is. "...white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes..." When she pauses this time, she blinks. She doesn't quite understand what it means. "...of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise." With a sigh, she knows this chant could take little while to learn...

Hikari is determined to get the chant committed to memory. "Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise." She pauses. "..." She still doesn't quite understand what some of it means. She's never seen a whale, so that might be part of it. Still. She knows she's ready to use this technique. She just needs to work on the approach and chant. "Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise." She doesn't finish the chant, not wanting to waste reiatsu on a technique she hasn't learned and isn't ready to use. She just repeats the words out loud to help solidify them to memory and try testing the reaction of her reiatsu to the words.

With a breath, Hikari decides to take a break from committing the chant to memory. She's fairly certain she's got it anyway. She flips the pages while scanning the text to find the most effective approach. "You place your hands on the wounded target..." As she's reading, she runs across some interesting words. "Chi?" Thinking on that, she knows she's heard it before. When was it... "While I was alive... I think mom always talked about skilled healers having it...?" She's not to sure of the memory. She did die quite young. Shaking her head, she knows she has to concentrate on the best approach. The idea of converting reiatsu is pretty alien.

As she's reading the text, Hikari is most interested in picking up the key points in helping the target recover as best possible. It mentions 'chi points' as excellent points of contact. There are three she takes the most notice of, the forehead, chest, and stomach. She figures she can concentrate best by choosing two of those three and focusing her reiatsu through those two points to the rest of the target's body. With a nod, she knows there's little chance to actually practice this here... With a sigh, she knows she can't think of that now. She needs to concentrate on learning the approach. At the very least, she is feeling confident with this technique already.

Hikari puts her hands on the table and begins concentrating on her open palms as if she were going to use the chiyu. As her reiatsu begins gathering, she begins the chant. "Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise." She, purposely, doesn't finish the chant. She only pays attention to how her reiatsu reacts up to that point to ensure everything is going right. She pays attention to how her hands glow and to any conversion that's going on. Without finishing the chant, there is very little. There's just enough for her to judge if she made some kind of invisible connection between her hands.

With a nod, Hikari's pretty satisfied with the results. She won't be able to test it on anybody, for real at least, unless somebody gets hurt. She's not willing to hurt somebody just to test the technique, so she decides to keep studying rather than find a vict...err...subject. The parts she understands the least are the conversion and...parts of the chant. It wouldn't matter, though, as long as she got the concept down and could get her reiatsu to work right for it. She just keeps reading, for now, to ensure everything works right.

With nobody to practice on, Hikari would have to be content with more reading and...blank practicing. "Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise." She repeats to herself. She pays careful attention to how her reiatsu reacts, ensuring it's the same each time. Any difference could mean a mistake. She carefully goes over each step. If she's going to get this right, she's going to make sure it's perfect. She knows she should be able to use the technique on herself, but she's not hurt. She's also not exactly prone to forcing injury on herself. She recovers just fine on her own, and she doesn't wish to test it that badly.

She wasn't happy about not being able to practice the technique immediately, but Hikari could live with that. "Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise." She had the chant memorized, not having to even look back at the book. She pauses long enough for her reiatsu to settle back down. She can tell by how quickly it reacts that she's ready to use the technique at least. She continues the end of the chant without putting any reiatsu into it. She knows, from reading the book Nagi gave her, that only a strong shinigami could use kidou without the entire chant. She also whispers it. "Chiyu no Ichi, Ichiban a Chiyu." She smiles. "I hope not to have to use this, but I'll have it just in case." She can feel her confidence in this technique. It's mostly because of how useful it could potentially be for her friends.
